Mary’s Market went from being the vendor I had the most confidence in to being the vendor I was most worried about. The catering manager was originally a woman named Kayla. She was on top of everything, we were thrilled! I knew everything would be taken care of and I wouldn’t need to worry. Cut to about a month and a half before our mid-October wedding and I send an email to Kayla. No response, I wait a week and follow up, I wait another week with no response, and so I call the office. About 3 days pass and no response. I call again at this point pretty sure Kayla no longer works there and very nervous they’ve dropped our contract without so much as a word. Turns out that Kayla had left (without sending any correspondence to her clients) and two people had taken over in her place. Trying to coordinate and confirm details with them was a nightmare. They were terrible with communication. I went over every detail with one of the caterers only to find out she wouldn’t be there and Sam (the director of catering) would be. She assured me she would go over all info with him and he would reach out to answer my questions she couldn’t. He never did nor would either inform me when they would show up on the day. And despite my many efforts, they wouldn’t send me the bill so I could pay. Sam didn’t send it until the day before the wedding. Before hand I also sent a map of the camp we were getting married at with bright red labels as to which building our reception and food would be. I shouldn’t have bothered because they didn’t utilize it. If it hadn’t been for a member of the wedding party seeing catering pull up to the wrong building (our ceremony building) & have them stop unloading and direct them to the right building they would have cooked our food in the wrong spot and would have ruined our ceremony. Additionally, they were supposed to cook the food on site. With only an hour and a half to two hours prior to cocktail hour when people were supposed to start getting food and drinks not only was there not one catering truck on site, but I still hadn’t heard from Sam. I had called but his phone was off. At this point I’m panicking that I won’t have any food to feed my guests. I call Mary’s Market restaurant and try to talk to anyone to find out what’s happening. Thankfully my sister took over so I could attend to other things and got my best friends to make sure everything was being done correctly after catering was ushered to the correct building. My friends were almost late for the ceremony because catering didn’t know what they were doing despite my diligence in going over information ahead of time. If it hadn’t been for my family and closest friends, the reception would have been a mess. Fortunately the rest of the guests had no idea and the food was very good and hot, and the wait staff were great which made me happy but everything else was awful. I find it unacceptable that the month leading up to the wedding and the day itself were so stressful. When I spoke to Sam about my discontent he apologized and said they had multiple other weddings that same day and they were still trying to get the hang of things from Kayla leaving and them starting. They specialize in catering, if they couldn’t handle more events, don’t take on more. The client shouldn’t suffer due to their internal struggles. Again, their food is great but I would steer clear. It’s not worth the stress.
We got some of our wedding desserts from Mary's and they were lovely! All of them looked so tasty and our guests said how good they were :)
Mary's Market was fantastic. The first thing I should say, which probably speaks the most volumes, was something we heard from a guest: "That was the best wedding food I've ever had!" So first off, the food was really good! The bride and several of the guests have several food allergies, so it was important to us to have good food that everyone could eat. We picked Mary's Market in particular because they were very clear about dietary restrictions and incredibly helpful and flexible to accommodate our needs. Mary's Market did a great job making meals with dietary restrictions in mind and changing things where necessary. We had a plated meal from them at our venue, not at Mary's Market's own location. Their staff did a great job bringing the food out and serving dinner, and even made some changes on the fly for us. Also worth mentioning to people looking for a caterer for their own weddings, the price was reasonable! Thanks Mary's Market for helping make our day great.
Kayla was so welcoming and personable!! My fiancé and I had an excellent experience at our tasting today! Let's just say the food was so good we decided to look no further♡
Mary’s Market did an excellent job catering our wedding! I received so many compliments from our guests about the food. (So many people told us it was the best wedding food they ever had!) We chose the chicken risotto, New York Strip steak and vegetarian lasagna and all three dishes were hits.
Even though they messed up our wedding cake by making the wrong flavor, the cake still looked gorgeous and Mary’s Market made it right by giving me and my husband a refund and a new cake for the two of us. I’m actually glad that it happened.
I would definitely recommend hiring them for your wedding!
Mary's Market catered our wedding on 9/28/19 and we were so pleased! The food was so delicious we got so many compliments from our guests! Their coordinator Heather was so helpful answering all of our questions and accommodating changes including us telling her the wrong count on linens we were renting from them. They catered our rehearsal dinner, wedding and provided bartending services which were all reasonably priced especially for the high quality. I would highly recommend them for wedding, rehearsal or any other event!
