Lynn and Mark were amazing!! We had a blast on our wedding day and the music was perfect! They were great with their communication and Mark was so sweet and fantastic for the annoucements throughout the night. It really helped us enjoy our day even more. Thank you so much Lynn and Mark!

Lynn was great to work with. As MOB when I first started working with Lynn I didn’t know whether we would have the budget for a DJ. Lynn stayed in contact with me and then was willing to work at a lesser cost based on our budget and time needed. While she was a little late for setup it was only 40minutes but was ready to go at the start time for the reception. I would definitely recommend media jockeys if you are in the Portland Oregon area.
Media Jockeys/CME recently DJ’d our small outdoor wedding, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We worked primarily with Lynn leading up to the event. She was always responsive and helpful, and she readily accommodated various last-minute, COVID-related changes that we had to make to our plans. Lynn set us up with a database that we could use to put together a “must play” and “do not play” list for our event. The database was easy to use and helped us tailor the music with as much or as little specificity as we wanted. There were several songs not on the database that our DJ was able to find and play upon request.
Stephen was our DJ for the event, and he had such a great job. He played the vast majority of our requested songs, and he filled in the gaps in our playlist with a lot of great music that fit the vibe of the tracks we pre-selected. We wanted a DJ who would hang back and not be too much of an “emcee.” Stephen respected that request, but he also got on the mic when needed to move the night along. He really created a great, fun vibe that got people dancing and enjoying themselves. He also was respectful of our venue’s specific rules and noise restrictions, which we really appreciated.
All in all, Media Jockeys did a fantastic job. They were professional, responsive, affordable, and, most importantly, helped us put on a fun, memorable wedding. We would use them again for future events and highly recommend them.
Overall the experience was good. The music was fun and upbeat, and people were dancing and requesting songs. However they were given a schedule and still needed list of reminders to transition to each thing during the ceremony which put more pressure on the maid of honor.
We were originally referred to CM Events through a different vendor in early 2020. Our original wedding date was set for Aug. 8, 2020, which was unfortunately postponed due to Covid.
From February 26-March 26, 2021, I requested multiple times by email for a contract with our new wedding date. None was ever sent.
After multiple attempts, I let Lynn know that CM Events and their DJ services were not going to work out for us. We felt that as their clients we were given very little communication and information and this was so beyond disrespectful and disappointing. I kindly asked Lynn to please refund the original deposit.
Upon telling her that we were no longer going to hire them, did we finally receive a contract via email on March 27th. The deposit was never received. This was such a disappointing experience.
Lynn was absolutely incredible! Let's start off my making it clear we have very strong opinions about music at weddings. We've been to 30+ weddings and are always on the dance floor more than anywhere else at each one. So we had our complete playlist 95% ready before we even contacted any DJs. Lynn put us at ease right away by being super easy to work with and by being totally accommodating to our particular opinions about music 🙂 Since we knew a lot of what we wanted, Lynn was great at guiding us to polish up our music choices and arrange the musical/DJ details of the night. We didn't worry about a thing and Lynn worked with our coordinator and others to make everything just perfect for us. And then when the dance floor opened up, Lynn crushed it! She had customized our list to please both our millennial, 90s pop-hit loving close friends, Frankie's parent's hippie friends, and LeAnna's country family. Everyone got a chance to dance the night away, and she even threw in a few perfect songs we had missed! Dancing is basically our favorite part of any wedding and we had high hopes for our own wedding; Lynn 110% nailed it and we got to dance for hours at our own wedding.
CME did a fantastic job at our wedding. Their online request system was relatively easy to use and made things very easy day of. We used their wireless mics and sound systems for our ceremony and we had no issues at all.
They did a great job with music and finding the songs we requested for ceremony/reception and read the dance floor well, but did not stay on top of it as an emcee. They didn't follow the schedule we provided as far as when first dance, table visits, and toasts should have been and wasn't very professional when I mentioned it to her at a later time. Overall, good price for good music.
Our guests had a great time listening to music provided by Lynn Winkle of Media Jockeys at our wedding reception! She played a variety of musical genres to keep everyone dancing, played the special songs we had requested in advance, and made sure everyone knew what was going on by clearly announcing the cake cutting, first dance, toasts, etc. She also provided music for our outdoor ceremony. Leading up to our event, she responded promptly to emails and provided helpful instructions for filling out the forms on her website for the event timeline, song requests, etc.
Wow! Media jockeys was amazing and accommodating every step of the way. We me with them more than once to discuss he details of the day. Stephen, our DJ, was so professional and accommodating. He was so kind and flexible. He was very away of my "must play" songs and my "do not play" songs and stuck to those lists. He took appropriate requests and, well, then he stayed out of our way. He made announcements when necessary but was quiet other wise I would definitely recommend Stephen and Media Jockeys again!
They were very helpful and easy to work with. They also helped with our bride/groom dance. really nice people. I think everything went just perfect. I was really busy at the wedding though and didnt get to spend nearly enough time in the dance area. :)
My husband chose Media Jockeys to be the DJ’s at our wedding on October 5th 2013. Media jockeys online system was very easy to use to create our “must play” list and to incorporate any and all special requests that we had. We worked with Lynn and found her very personable and easy to work with. Their prices were very reasonable! We also received a dance lesson from Lynn before our wedding and she helped give us confidence on the dance floor. Lynn kept the music going for the whole reception and kept mixing it up to encourage people to keep dancing. I would recommend Media Jockeys.
Great DJ, awesome service, reasonable pricing. They also offer discount dance lessons when you book with them!
We had so much fun with our DJ, Mark. Media Jockeys are very organized and professional, allowing for the couple to submit a timeline of the wedding day, songs to play, songs to not play, etc. Many guests commented to us about how good our DJ was, how open he was to suggestions, and how flexible he was. It was a fabulous party!
What I liked about working with Lynn is that she was very open to some unique music ideas I had for my reception. They have a great online planning tool. For a small additional fee, we were able to add some merengue and salsa dance lessons, which for our bi-cultural wedding, was a real fun time. However, I was expecting a DJ who would really MCEE the event and help to keep us on track, but it was really up to me and my husband to let them know when we were ready for the next thing. But overall good to work with if on a budget, as we were!
Lynn Winkle was the best! We danced the entire night and she was soooo accommodating with everyone's requests! All at an unreal price, you'll be shocked!!!!
The Goods:
Great sound, good lights, didn't play any of my "do not plays", arrived on time and dressed appropriately, communication was fine, and was fun and friendly at the wedding.
Some additional details:
At the start when I began contact with Media Jockey, they were friendly and eager to gain my business. I decided to book a dj early (10 months) so that I was not left with bad pickings since I had a summer Saturday wedding planned. We made the trip from Hillsboro to east Portland on a weeknight (which was a nightmare) in order to sign our contract and meet Lynn and Mark. It was a great meeting and all our questions were answered. I had requested Mark as our DJ and selected an amount of time we expected to need. We paid 50% of a deposit which is quite a bit for 10 months ahead of time, but graciously did so since they'd been so accommodating.
About 1 month before the wedding, I contacted Lynn to see if we can have our 5 hours divided between 1 hour on the patio and 4 hours inside the reception. It was an extra $150 to add on the audio on the patio with no addition of time. Whoa! So, I then decided to scrap the patio music since there will be lots of chatter anyway. Just to let you know, the amount of time you think you need when you sign your contract 10 months prior, is the amount you're bound to. It's hard to know when people will want to stop dancing when your venue allows you to go until midnight.
I submitted a shortish list (15-20 songs) of must-play songs at the wedding. Only about a third were played. I also requested in our first meeting that requests from guests should not to be taken since we wanted the songs we chose to be played. I mean, it is OUR wedding, right? And how many times do you hire a DJ to play what you want?! Well, the first thing announced when dancing started was "come put in your request". And that only led to people complaining that their song wasn't being played soon enough. That is another reason to not have requests - then people can't get disappointed. Also, why did we do all that work of putting a list together if only 1/3 get played?
PS - turns out our friends like to dance - we went all the way to midnight or so!
Overall, this was a good choice for my budget. I would rehire Mark/Media Jockey if I had the chance, but would surely have a second meeting closer to the wedding. Probably would have solved the issues.
I was excited about this company in the beginning because of their wide variety of music they had, and you can do all your planning online; from the songs you want played to the order of how your reception will go. After the wedding I was ultimately disappointed. I submitted my timeline not once, but twice, along with my list of songs. They never received my timeline and only half of my list of songs. So from the very beginning they didn't know what to play. I designated someone so that they could go ask that person if they had questions instead of coming up to me but they still came right up to me everytime. Guests requested songs and they took quite awhile to play them. The most disappointing part was that not only did they not stay the whole time they were suppose to but they came up to me again afterward and asked about final payment after telling them the day before the wedding that I had sent it to them and they would receive it by the day after the wedding... 2 days after the wedding they call wanting payment acting like they didn't believe me that I sent it in the first place.
I do appreciate that media jockeys gave me a discount on their services. Although, most vendors will discount for an off season wedding. I was a bit disappointed with the professionalism. There were times that the DJs seemed confused about what was next. For example, instead of playing the song for our unity candle all the way through, they started it very softly and then cut it off in the middle. I wish I would have met with them one more time to make sure everything was understood. Overall all though, they did keep the wedding moving along with announcements and such. I just wish there had not been so much confusion.
