Michigan Union - University of Michigan

is review with a heavy heart that we are not able to get married at the Union, because we have decided it was best for us to move our June wedding outdoors. If I was getting married in 2022 I would definitely be getting married here! The staff has had amazing communication and has been very thoughtful through it all. We were able to do the food tasting before we changed venues, and the food was delicious. We are extremely bummed we won't be able to have it at our wedding. The Union is a venue that many other vendors are familiar with and enjoy working with, so it's very convenient to find great people to work with for your big day. I cannot thank them enough for their flexibility and understanding.

We received a full refund and they worked with us to still cater the event. I couldn't have asked for a better venue and hope to use them again for our next event.

My husband and I wanted a U of M Wedding that could accommodate a large number of guests and this was the perfect location. Chelsea and her team did a great job accommodating some of our nontraditional requests such as buffet stations instead of a typical plated dinner. Everything went smoothly and we had so much fun. We definitely recommend working with the Michigan Union and Chelsea!

The event was beautifully run from the cocktail hour in the Pendleton Room through the end of the reception in the Rogel Ballroom. We could not have asked for a more special day.

The Rogel Ballroom is gorgeous (doesn't need any additional decor really) and reception went so smoothly, everyone had an awesome time, food was good, the open bar was a hit! It was really a night we won't forget! More than recommended.

Our actual reception at the Union was almost perfect. The ballroom is grand and beautiful. We had 200 guests and it felt spacious. The front of the room has a stage which was perfect for our band. The only negative to the evening is dinner service was slow and caused us to push back our first dance and getting the party started on the dance floor. Also, although Chelsea had carefully outlined guest allergies and who would require special meals, the kitchen messed up big time here. They did not have three special meals that they should have had for people with allergies. One person (a vendor) just didn't have an entree and two others received a meal completely unlike the original dish (the dish was Indian and they ended up with a mushroom dish). This was pretty disappointing. However, Chelsea did reach out and apologize on the kitchen's behalf and tried to make up for it with some refund. Overall, our experience planning with the Union was very good and our evening was wonderful. The Rogel Ballroom is truly a grand ballroom for any reception.

Some last minute furniture needed moving and added and everything was taken care of immediately. The food was great. It was also very reasonably priced. They showed great flexibility with the menu, i.e. even though our vegetarian option wasn't vegan they agreed to provide one or two vegan plates for guests who were vegan. The food tasting was great too because we got to sample a lot of food and choose from all the options available instead of a few select things we may like. All in all we recommend this venue.

She typically responded to emails within an hour, and was extremely clear about pricing and arrangements. She made planning a breeze, and was able to provide us with everything that we needed, from catering to room layouts. When we showed the evening of the rehearsal dinner, the Union staff were already prepared for us, and a catering manager immediately greeted me and made sure everything was going as planned. The food (BBQ Buffet) and open bar were great, and service was fantastic. I received many compliments on the rehearsal dinner, and most of all my wife told me I did a good job. It was also extremely convenient to have the rehearsal dinner in the same room as the ceremony so we could spend more time with friends and family instead of traveling to another venue. The wedding ceremony was beautiful, and the Union staff again brought their A-game and delivered on everything in a professional manner. On the wedding day, we booked two separate rooms for the bride/bridesmaids and groom/groomsmen before the ceremony, and used union catering to have subs and water in those rooms. The food was ready when we arrived, along with mirrors, chairs, and tissues. I can't recommend the union more highly for a rehearsal dinner or ceremony.

so attentive and delicious. Whelp, I've got news, believe it. Even if you've never attended U of M, the Union blows everything else in the area out of the water, even when you don't consider that they're also the most affordable!

vens, was absolutely superb from start to finish. These are wonderful professionals; they are knowledgeable, friendly, and supremely helpful. They helped us with every last detail to make our event perfect and our guests feel well cared for. They asked us questions about things we had not thought of (and we thought of a lot!) On the day of the event, we were able to relax and let things flow, because the planning had been so meticulous and professional. The venue was beautiful, the food was great; the service was excellent; the staff were flexible and caring. They made us feel that our reception was as important to them as it was to us. Our guests raved about it. I could not have asked for a better experience. I recommend the Union and its team wholeheartedly and without exception.

Their menu is so extensive and has anything you could possibly want for affordable prices. I mostly worked with Kayla and it was always easy to get in touch with her with any questions we had. The rooms are beautiful and made decorating so easy. All of our guests raved about the building, the ballroom, the food, and everything in between. If you are on the fence about booking them for your reception, I say definitely go for it. You will be beyond satisfied with your choice; I know we are.

She made the process smooth and easy, ensured every detail was taken care of, and is a delight to work with. She even coordinates with your other vendors to ensure all is set! All the staff is incredibly helpful, professional, warm, responsive, generous & flexible-- all stars! They went above & beyond, including Rob & Melanie! The venue itself is stunning. From the moment I walked in and saw the historic, elegant building and rooms, I knew it was meant to be. We held the ceremony in Kuenzel, cocktail hour in Anderson, and reception in the gorgeous Pendleton. Even the bridal ready room in Blain is perfect. You get the convenience of all-in-one location with catering, servers, bar, excellent food & hors d'ouvres, linens, etc., all for good prices for the quality. It's located in the heart of campus and downtown, and across the street from the best wedding photo locations in town-- the Law Quad, art museum, and so much more. In every way, the Michigan Union was absolutely the right choice to celebrate and savor the most special and memorable day of my life! Thank you to the Union staff, and I can't recommend you highly enough!

The Union had character and charm that you could not recreate and made our special day spectacular. Kudos to all the staff at every level and thanks for a lifetime of memories.
