Mike Bell deserves more than just 5 stars. This guy is funny, creative and very energetic. Made my wife and I very happy with how our wedding went because of him. Mike knows what he’s doing and is very professional. If you want your wedding to go perfect, he’s the man for the job. I was very pleased with how he kept the momentum going during the reception. We sat down with him prior to our wedding date and I instantly knew that I could trust him with our wedding. All the guests at our wedding had a blast and loved all the music he played. Very interactive and an all around great person. Thank you so much, Mike Bell.

From the Bride: To be honest, I loved so many things about my wedding. I worked day and night for months. Making the center pieces, growing the plants for the wedding, putting together all the decorations, finding the perfect utensils, hassling the caters and coordinating all of the people that were traveling. At one point or another during the planning, I was so busy I couldn't even think! So when Mike Bell came along I was so excited! Mike Bell seemed to present himself in a professional manner. Until....it came to the day of the wedding. I felt that we were truly robbed in every way possible.His lack of communication and professionalism was noticed by all of our guests. The day of seemed completely unorganized. The assistants seemed like they had no direction, standing on the side looking at their phones. How can you claim to be a DJ and MC but can not recover if your equipment fails which you guaranteed on many occasions? Mike cut the microphones during the ceremony, he played the wrong song for the family wedding introduction, there was so much awkward silence throughout the evening, he did microphone checks throughout the reception, he hardly played any live music (when we payed so much for it), my husband had to yell out the table numbers for dinner because the microphone wasn't working and Mike was not doing the job we paid him to do by coordinating the event, he forgot about the bouquet toss music, and overall just couldn't adjust to the evening and did not fulfill the majority of his contract. I understand that things go wrong at a wedding but when we approached him(Mike) during the wedding reception we felt that he ignored us. He has no accountability for anything which is very unprofessional. I would not give this company anything less then -10 stars. We tried to reach out after the wedding and felt that he was being very unreasonable, he blamed other venders for his mistakes. When we wrote to Mike about how upset we were he disregarded everything that was said and thanked us for choosing him.. Im a little heart broken that this is the a memory that I will have of my wedding after my family, friends, now husband and I worked so hard that day to make it special. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Mike Bell was great to work with! He worked with me throughout the process to find the perfect songs for our day. The emceeing was great and hr stuck to our program , and was so flexible even during our last minute changes. He gave great suggestions for songs I needed help thinking of and got everyone on the dance floor!

My wife and I live in the SF Bay Area and wanted a destination wedding in Oahu. We travel to Oahu once or twice a year anyway and thought it would be a nice way to double up as a vacay for family and close friends. Initially we expected 40 - 45 people, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal, right? Well..... 10 more people got added.... And then another 10 were added... And then 20 more... And all of a sudden our initial headcount doubled. Yikes, it evolved into a big deal. We had to manage, coordinate, and pay for vendors based on phone/email and a 5 hour flight away. This would prove to be a daunting task... Mike Bell and his team came highly rated on The Knot so we gave him a call. He's super chill, professional, and competitive with his pricing. Once we expressed interest in his DJ services, he forwarded us a questionnaire. It asked about the types of music that we like and the types of music that we don't like (aka music that will be banned). It asked which specific songs would be played during which specific portion of the reception (entrance music, father daughter dance, garter toss, bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc). It was very specific as to which version of the song (original, cover, acoustic, etc), which artist, and which year. We thought to ourselves that a person that puts this much thought and attention into his questionnaires would put even more into the actual event itself. DJ services: Done. Mike and his team also handled our lighting, photobooth, and officiating. Our daunting task of hiring vendors was cut in half! Fast forward to the wedding day.... Mike spoke such powerful words at our ceremony. It spoke to both of us and brought about tears of joy. He used a lot of material from the questionnaires to personalize his anecdotes. He played all of the music from our extensive playlists and made some good executive decisions on his own. When he noticed that people weren't dancing to specific types of songs, he'd fade it and return to ones that brought people back out. He noticed that the Electric Slide brought a lot of people to the dance floor, so once things started slowing down on the dance floor, he switched back to the Electric Slide, followed by the Cupid Shuffle, followed by Cha Cha Shuffle 1 and 2. The dance floor was packed. And it was 25 minutes of non-stop cardio and sweat flying all over the place. The lighting was beautiful. I kept looking over at the bar and thinking to myself that our bar tab was going to be super expensive because the line was long .... all night. And then I realized that it was the line to the photobooth, which was adjacent to the bar. Phew, that was a close one. Mike and his crew provided a ton of fun accessories and props. The technology was top notch and self supported. You simply click on the button on the screen, pose, and wait for it to print. There was staff on hand to add paper and answer questions, but it was super easy to use. My nephews and nieces had a blast. I was looking for a DJ and Officiant for our wedding, when I came across Mike Bell. I noticed how talented he was and decided to hire him. It was the best decision that I made. I had a destination wedding and he helped us out so much. He played every song we requested, and did an excellent job with his live performance, even though he only had a few days to prep before my wedding day ( I requested last minute). He also made a chandelier for us, which turned out awesome! Everyone commented on his performance at the wedding and how nice the chandelier was. If you're looking for a DJ for any event or are looking for a wedding vendor, look no further. He is your go to guy for anything you may need. He literally does everything! Highly recommended!

I couldn't have asked for a better DJ/Officiant for my wedding! I was a bit nervous given the fact that it was a destination wedding, but Mike was very responsive since day one, and put us at ease. We had some last minute changes on our wedding day, but he really came through for us in putting everything together, and made everything flow very smoothly. Everything turned out better than expected. We also requested him to play live music, last minute, and he was able to put everything together, including learning a new song for us. I found Mike Bell's profile on The Knot, and reached out. Not even 10 mins later he responded. His message was personalized which I really liked and was very upbeat. He seems like a fun DJ and very accomodating. I like to give a rating upon my initial impression, with hopes that service will maintain throughout the whole process (I don't anticipate having to update it, other than to add more great comments). I'm liking this vendor so far!

We were initially on the fence as to whether to hire a DJ for our wedding and are so glad we decided to work with Mike! From our initial point of contact through the last song of the reception, Mike was friendly, professional and committed to making sure our day was fun and stress free. Leading up to the wedding, we discussed our needs thoroughly, and Mike was flexible with his package options to provide us with exactly what we needed at a reasonable cost. Just days before the wedding, we asked if we could add some lawn games if they were still available, but unfortunately they had already been rented out. Fast forward to two days before the ceremony when we called Mike to lock down the final order of events and he tells us he's just finishing up sanding the boards for our bean bag toss. I think mike bell was the only one who made me feel safe with picking him as my DJ and MC. He was very friendly and funny and really made me feel safe that i picked him since i had problems with the DJ before him. The only thing i wish we did was talk about our music more and how it played out other than that he was the easiest to deal with out of all the vendors.

Mike was a great energy to have at our reception. I was really late returning the music questionnaire to him (like literally the day before our wedding), and he still managed to interpret those instructions in the form of a brilliantly classy affair with great pops of energy to keep the crowd excited. 10/10 would work with him again.

He even helped us figure out our marriage license. We hired Mike to be our officiant and party starting DJ for our April 6th wedding. As an officiant he was great, dressed accordingly and had a very nice custom reading for us. He even had equipment to hook up my gopro to his sound system (I was so stoked, cause we couldn't afford videographer) and it allowed me to get quality audio for our video we'll remember forever! As a DJ, I literally have nothing bad to say. He had a very detailed pamphlet for us to fill out. Covering all details about the wedding regarding music and flow. Mike was such a blessing and special part of our wedding day. We're from California so I was super skeptical hiring vendors I've never met. Mike was on top of the schedule for due dates, he was responsive, he had our music on point so everyone was into the evening and dancing, and most importantly he worked with us on our tight budget. As a bride, you plan most of the wedding and who knew I'd have so many struggles including shipping all my wedding stuff and having it stolen from my families porch. Mike was a lending ear when I wanted to break down, he was super chill the entire night, and he was great to converse with even when I needed to sneak away from the dance floor. LOL Thank you Mike for being so professional, for working with all our needs, for that extra finesse in setting up lights which beautified our background, it sure needed it :) I am so thankful for your service and wish you all the best. Mike was great! My husband and I had a great time at our wedding! Everyone had nothing but good things to say about the entire evening. The dance floor was always full and that is thanks to you! I think the selection of music was great - mostly "old school" which a lot of our parents and older folks loved, as well as our friends. It was the perfect mix that kept people dancing all night. The music for the ceremony was great, all of the speeches, announcements, etc. was perfect! I'd recommend Mike to anyone looking for a DJ!

First off I want to thank Mike for how amazing he is. He is so passionate about his profession and truly cares about his customers. Mike did an amazing job at my wedding back in March of 2016, even now I have people asking me about the "guy who Dj'd my wedding". WOW!!! Mike Bell was the best DJ we could've hired for our special day. Even going into the wedding reception, Mike worked with months before to mix a special song for the father/daughter dance and come up with a must play list. Then as my luck would have it - I got sick on my wedding day! I was throwing up during most of the reception, but Mike kept our guests occupied and busy. There were a couple times when he had to cover for me - I couldn't have asked for anyone better. Everyone LOVED him. We even got my father in law to dance - and it wasn't the alcohol! THANK YOU MIKE!

Mike was our DJ and Officiant. Not only was Mike our DJ and officient but he pretty much was one of the top people who helped me keep a relaxed mind going into the wedding. Mike delivered a beautiful ceremony for us, we cannot thank him enough. I think my favorite part about booking him was that he was a great officient, great DJ, and was a huge help the entire night. Toward the end of the reception I changed into a reception dress and left my ceremony dress in the bathroom... the night got away from me and I guess we had all forgotten my dress in the bathroom as the bus was taking us back to the hotel. My sister informed me that Mike ran the dress out to the bus so it was not left behind! Mike was not hired to do this but he did! He truly was a great addition to our ceremony and reception.

I've attended and worked events that Mike has provided entertainment for and knew as soon as I got engaged that he'd be our DJ. I'm so glad! Not only did our evening flow seamlessly with appropriate ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and reception music and cues, Mike also played music for us as a couple, not generic 'everyone's wedding' music, which was well received and commented on by our guests. Choosing a package, specific songs, and help with ceremony sound was so simple, no nonsense, and fair. Not to mention, Mike is a great wedding guest! He looked sharp and talked to our guests comfortably. Would highly recommend!

We met with Mike before our wedding to go over a very specific few things we wanted. That's the type of thing you would expect from somebody who is a little higher in cost. We gave him a run down of our entrance and went over every detail. He played a very key role in that and when it came time for the entrance he failed miserably and embarrassed us in front of our family and friends. Music is very important to us and we wanted to be able to play our instruments at our own wedding. We had our instruments set up to play and after he moved them he failed to even plug anything in or turn anything back on. And he will ask you like most DJs for a "must play" and "do not play" list of songs. The must play list was very important to us for sentimental reasons. NONE of the must play songs were played. I can't stress enough how pathetic that is to offer a service only to completely ignore that in the end. Those memories that should have been will never be and it is 100% on Mike. I have made sure to tell others to stay away because with all of the talented DJs out there it is not worth risking.

We were extremely picky about choosing a DJ and Rob our DJ from Open Mike Entertainment was amazing. He far exceeded our expectations. We had a smaller reception (about 80 people) and didn't do all the traditional wedding reception items - he followed exactly what we wanted and our guests were raving about how great he was! He is very talented. At one point he was playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and I looked over and he was singing! He was so good that I couldn't even tell it was him - I thought he was part of the song. Our guests loved it! I would highly recommend Open Mike Entertainment to any bride.

YOU WOULD BE DUMB NOT TO HIRE THESE GUYS! Hands down the best possible service I could ask for. I called Open Mike Entertainment with only a month and a half till my wedding after our previous DJ took off with my money. He not only eased my mind but then offered John to be the Officiate and DJ. Having not met John before the wedding I was a bit nervous about how the ceremony would go. I had no reason to be. He was absolutely fantastic. He was witty and funny, and handled everything like an absolute professional. He then proceeded to clean up and move inside to DJ the rest of the night for the reception. He was awesome to say the least. He was a fantastic DJ/personality. He would be a GREAT addition to anyone's wedding, or event!

Mike Bell was one of the best decisions I made when selecting vendors for my October 3 wedding. He met with us for over an hour at our venue (he is the preferred DJ for the Wildwood Hotel) and went over all the little details we needed attention paid to to make our day perfect. He was able to get to know us better as a couple and we were able to get to know him very well too. Mike offers so many extras to add to your day and even surprised our guests (and my husband and I) with one of them. Mike constantly checked up with me the night of reception to make sure everything was to my liking and when I had a special request from wedding guest-Mike made sure that song was played next. Our dance floor was poppin and our best man told us thats the most he has ever danced at a wedding. Brides-take some wedding stress off your plate and book Mike as your DJ and know you made a great decision and will have an excellent DJ the days of your wedding!!

Mike Bell was the DJ at our wedding last weekend, and we could not have chosen a better DJ. He made our reception flow so smoothly we didn't even have to think about it. We got many compliments from guests about the DJ and music selection, and if a requested song started to clear the dance floor, Mike was on it within ten seconds to switch to a new song that would bring everyone back and keep the party going. Our dance floor was full all night until the very end, and everyone had a great time! We wanted our reception to be an epic party, and Mike Bell helped us achieve this. Mike Bell at Open Mike Entertainment was courteous and professional. We rented plug and play dj equipment and lighting for our wedding. It was easy to set up even though I had a little trouble. All it took was a quick video chat with Mike and we were good to go! The equipment worked perfectly and sounded great!

We used Mike as our DJ and officiant. He met with us prior to the wedding and hammered out all the details for ceremony and reception. I felt so much more relaxed after he walked us through the rehearsal. He did a great job tailoring the ceremony to our taste. My only complaint was an issue with the processional stopping as I walked in and microphones not working well for the ceremony. Overall we still got lots of compliments on the ceremony. As a DJ, he kept everyone out on the dance floor all night. We had a lot of fun working with him!

Mike was the best DJ we have ever hired! He is extremely professional and an exceptional DJ. From start to finish Mike was wonderful. Mike did an incredible job on our wedding day! He provided music for the ceremony and picked great songs to fill in time that our requests did not. I couldn't have imagined more perfect choices! Our reception was amazing with not only the music, but the uplighting and GOBO light. Mike is a different kind of entertainer. He tries avoiding the typical songs you hear at weddings, which is a nice change of pace! Mike customized his service to meet all our requests. He was set up and ready to go when our party was ready to start and he provided commentary as needed. Mike definitely added to our party!

We had a small, low cost wedding, and Mike was very respectful of our budget from the beginning. We also couldn't meet with him in person prior to the wedding, as we live in Chicago, but he was more than willing to set up a Skype meeting. As for the day of the wedding, we had specially mixed music for our processional and bridal march. All we had to do was send him the music files, and he took care of the rest! He was mindful of our eclectic taste, and there was plenty of great music played during our cocktail hour. He kept the reception lively all the way through, and all of our guests had great things to say about the selection of songs he picked. He's such a friendly person, and felt more like another guest at our wedding, rather than a vendor. He was a blast to work with. My husband and I won't hesitate to recommend him!

Mike contributed so much to making our wedding exactly how we wanted it, from learning a Stevie Wonder song in a little over a month to setting up a slideshow for our maid of honor's toast. He played live music for our ceremony and during cocktail hour, and then DJed the reception. He is a very talented musician, and we received so many compliments from our guests about how special that made our ceremony. Then, when it came time for dancing, he was great at getting everyone out on the floor. I had guests tell me afterwards that they had never been to a reception before with the dance floor so full throughout the night. Mike was easy to work with and did an outstanding job. I had an excellent experience with Mike at Open Mike Entertainment. He not only set up a beautiful scene with lighting that matched my wedding colors (purple), but he also helped me organize the evening. His DJ skills kept us flowing from one activity to the next. Mike did an amazing job making our night feel special to us. Coordinated with other vendors the night of. Was also able take charge and made night run smoothly. Only thing that freaked me out was not hearing from Mike after a few emails,which would make any bride freak. He quickly fixed the miscommunication. He also stayed an extra hour the night of.

My husband and I hired Mike to be our wedding DJ after a recommendation from our venue. Mike was easy to communicate with and provided us with a great rate since he was the preferred DJ at our wedding venue. We worked with Mike to have him play live acoustic guitar at our ceremony and cocktail hour and then DJ for our wedding reception. We met with Mike a couple of months before the wedding to go over song choices, etc. and he seemed very confident and understanding of what we wanted for our wedding. However, on the day of the wedding, Mike arrived later than expected and seemed very rushed to set-up. At the very start of the ceremony, he mixed up the processional and recessional songs and struggled to get back on track quickly. During the reception, we had a hard time keeping track of Mike because he was very rarely behind the DJ booth. He was frequently walking around, talking to other guests and our wedding party and photographers had to run and find him every time we needed him to make an announcement, etc. On the positive side, Mike did play every song we requested and got people out on the dance floor.

I plan my own wedding with out any help but the day I hired Mike Bell he made everything so easy. I was late to my own wedding and my original officiant had to leave. Mike Bell step up to plate and delivered. He Dj and wed my husband and I at the same time. He kept my guess happy and dancing the night away but most of all he made our day happen. We met with Mike in person and hit it off from the very start, we hired him and paid in full at our first meeting! I have been in the hotel industry as a sales manager in the St. Louis area for over 20 years at upscale hotels. Through the years I have seen plenty of DJ's in action, and Mike truly stands out from the crowd with his professionalism and beaming personality. Mike was extremely professional and did exactly what we asked of him for our wedding. We stayed in constant communication with him the months leading up to the wedding and he was very easy to reach. Mike was an awesome DJ. He interacted with the people attending my wedding and he made it very fun. The music he picked other than what we had on our was lis was perfect. I highly recomend Mike for any wedding. Mike made our perfect day even more perfect. Thank you Mike.

Open Mike DJed our reception on June 28th, and it was perfect. Before the big day, Open Mike was very easy to work with, which was a huge help. He gave us a DJ planning sheet that we filled out, went over everything in detail, and gave thoughtful suggestions about what we wanted at the reception, all well in advance of the actual day. He kept in contact with us up until the event as well, and was flexible to a few last-minute changes to we made. When I say flexible, I don't mean that he reluctantly let us change some things. Instead, he was happy to help, and you could tell that his goal was making sure we were happy. He is a very good communicator, which in my opinion is just as important as the actual DJing, especially with all of the other things we had to worry about. For the actual event, he showed up well in advance, and took the lead in communicating with the venue to get everything set up. He went over the order of the reception introductions one last time, and the event started. He is well-experienced, courteous, and professional, and that really shows through in the way he speaks to guests and members of the wedding party. The music was excellent. He followed our "do play" and "don't play" lists perfectly and found music that fit our style. His setup was great- we had a few uplights that he made sure matched the wedding colors perfectly, as well as lighting above his table. He was ready at a moment's notice for things like the bouquet toss, and get a great job getting the crowd excited, but stayed calm and collected throughout. He really just handled it like a pro! We had many guests tell us it was the best reception they had attended, and I think it had a lot to do with Open Mike's work. He is not a cheap DJ, but it's not expensive, either! To me, it is worth paying a little bit more to work with an experienced professional, and not have to worry about anything. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to book him again.

Mike was great! I really can't say enough about how important a good DJ is to having a fun and memorable reception. Mike was great about following up with us and communicating as the wedding approached. He was well organized which gave me one less thing to worry about on the wedding day. He not only helped us decide on music for the wedding, but also offered other checklists and advice regarding other wedding tips. Our guests all had nothing but good things to say about the DJ and how much fun they had. I would highly recommend him to any couple getting married!

Mike totally took control of the room and had everyone dancing all night long! Open Mike Entertainment, with Michael Bell providing the services, was an excellent choice for the wedding I booked him for in October! He provided not only a high class Emcee performance, music that had us dancing the night away, but also lighting around our reception location. I've been a guest at two of Mike's DJ'd weddings. He is a fun and positive MC and the music he plays keeps the party going. He is very good with being on target with the music genres and overall selection as requested by the bride and groom!

Our reception was one heck of a party, thanks to Mike! One of the biggest compliments came from my uncle, who doesn't drink or dance, and dislikes wedding receptions in general. He only went, grudgingly, out of obligation. And he had a BLAST! He raved about what a fantastic DJ we had and how much fun Mike made the night. My uncle - and literally every single other guest, even the old ones - stayed until the very end of our 5-hour reception and were partying it up the whole time. Mike came very highly recommended by our planner and was absolutely fantastic. I was very picky about the DJ - I thought it was one of the most important decisions, and would really make or break the reception. It's not just the music, which is important, but knowing how to read the energy of the crowd, pace all the dances and events of the reception, appeal to young, old, guests who like to dance and don't, work with the other vendors, make sure all the technical stuff and quality is good, etc. Mike is an expert at all that. He also has an awesome personality to be the guy running the show, and had a ton of fun ideas. (I won't spoil it, but his ideas for the wedding party dance was EPIC. One of the best parts of the night.) Everyone had an absolute blast. I highly recommend Mike for an unforgettable reception.

I recently attended a wedding/reception where this company was disc jockey. I was very impressed! Very professional, very nice, amazing lighting/music, and I was told all services provided were above average. I recommend this company to any bride looking for a happy/memorable expierence!

Mike Bell has not only been the MC for multiple events for my organization, but made me very proud at my girlfriend's sister's wedding last year. He went above and beyond the DJ service and was amazing with announcements, keeping organization and also interacting with guests, and taking music requests and playing them. I knew right off the bat that entertainment was important to me. I’ve been to so many weddings with horrible DJs and watched how they just made the night fall flat. That was NOT going to be my wedding! Mike Bell and his staff delivered above and beyond expectations. Great system and lighting and, most importantly, GREAT personality. Mike really played to the crowd in a way that was entertaining without being obnoxious or over-the-top. Mike helped make our wedding reception perfect! He played what we wanted and made sure to not include what we didn't want!
