I wanted to hire our vendors myself, but wanted some extra help for wedding day, especially since I would be in hair and makeup when the vendors started to arrive on wedding day. My fiancée and I also knew if we didn't get some help, my mom would end up being the go-to person for vendor and guest questions on wedding day, because that's just what she does. We didn't want my mom worrying about anything so we started to search for a Day Of Coordinator. I am so so happy we found Mary! First of all, leading up to the wedding, Mary was a huge help. She was always there if I had questions and was incredibly responsive. She helped me stay organized and work on timelines and all the details that come up when planning a wedding. When a week before the wedding there was a small chance of Hurricane Florence hitting Connecticut near our wedding date, Mary spent over an hour on the phone with my mom and I brainstorming contingency plans (which thankfully we didn't need!). She attended our rehearsal and kept things organized and efficient. On wedding day, Mary and her assistant for the day, Debbie, handled everything that came up. We had a long list of tasks for her to check on during vendor set up and she followed through with each and every one. Mary and Debbie helped with the transition from the ceremony space to cocktail hour to reception, and everything went smooth as can be. Mary took charge of watching our timeline and addressing any issues that came up with the guests, the food, the bar, etc. To be honest I have no idea how many little things came up throughout the course of my wedding day because no one bothered me about anything. My fiancée and I, as well as our parents, were able to have a wonderful stress free day. Mary interacted wonderfully with all our vendors from the DJ to the chef to the servers. She took care of last minute guests who showed up and discreetly got their name cards on the table before the guests could even notice. I had such a wonderful calm wedding day morning and a big part of that was because I knew Mary was there at my venue while I was at home relaxing and getting ready with my friends and family. I honestly don't know how we could have done it without her. She is the best and you should absolutely hire her for your event!

Everything went off smoothly. If something didn't go smoothly, I have no idea and that's perfect for me! Mary has a truly calming demeanor and knows when to take charge or step back when it comes to coordinating with vendors, family members, officiants, etc. A perk that I hadn't expected was that she becomes the go-to person between your rehearsal dinner and the wedding. This was an ENORMOUS help since I just wanted to enjoy the time and be in the moment, so I could just send any last-minute questions that people had to her :) To top it all off, you can tell that she really loves her job. She definitely teared up a few times during our wedding, and I love that she brought one of her daughters along to help the day-of - it speaks volumes about the love and care she has for her work!

ing venue chosen was Folly Farm, a gorgeous location, but one which required that we obtain all vendors (caterer, florist, tents, chairs, etc.) on our own. After we obtained the major "players", we realized that we needed someone to assist us in putting all of the pieces together to create a wonderful wedding. Mary turned out to be that "someone!" Mary told us to contact her whenever we needed any suggestions, advice, or just needed someone to calm us and provide direction. She was available via phone, text and email, and she always responded almost immediately. Mary established herself with our vendors as our liaison; she obtained detailed contact information for everyone, and she fielded all of the questions, concerns, etc. that the bride, groom and parents had. She also handled many of the questions raised by the vendors, thus alleviating the need for us to attend to every minor detail. During the last months, weeks and days prior to the wedding, Mary created a detailed day of wedding timeline. She revised it numerous times and was instrumental in making valuable suggestions, given her experience and expertise. Mary and her daughter Tess, her assistant, attended the rehearsal the evening before the wedding. They used that opportunity to get to know the bride, groom and wedding party, as well as to familiarize themselves with the layout of Folly Farm and the locations of each part of the wedding. On the day of the wedding, Mary and Tess came to our home, where the bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready for the wedding. After then delivering the groom's flowers to his home, Mary and Tess went to Folly Farm and "worked their magic" in overseeing that every detail was coordinated. Several questions about logistics arose, and Mary and her daughter fielded the questions, contacted us as necessary, and overall, had everything completely under control by the time the groom and then the bride arrived at Folly Farm for their first look, photos, etc. Mary is a soft-spoken, knowledgable, incredibly reliable and skilled Ala Carte Wedding Planner. With her extensive assistance, the wedding flowed smoothly and was as close to perfection as possible! I highly recommend Mother of the Bride, Mary Karnes, as someone who will assist in making your wedding planning, coordination and wedding day everything that you want it to be!
