We hired her as our day-of coordinator but I also really appreciated her contract arrangement, via which we could ask her questions/get planning advice leading up to the wedding as well. Mary was an unbelievably amazing help as our day-of-coordinator! She was extremely communicative and supportive the months and weeks before the wedding, and the day of, she was such a calming and helpful presence that made our big day that much more enjoyable! We hired Mary as our day-of coordinator and couldn’t have been happier. We knew we couldn’t afford a full-service planner but we were nervous about only having access to her for one day. Well, we shouldn’t have worried because Mary made sure we knew that she was available to us from the moment we signed the contract. When my husband and I first started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it to be a little more DIY than what a lot of folks opt for. We hired Mary to be our day-of coordinator for a May 2020 wedding. Covid had other plans. Mary helped us: make the decision in March 2020 to postpone the reception for a year and move the ceremony/repurposed rehearsal dinner to October; cancel the October plans and move everything back to our new 2021 date; and then (regretfully) cancel that as well. She was so helpful in helping us figure out what our options were and making sure we hadn't forgotten a vendor. Talking to Mary was a great combination of sympathy for the circumstances and a voice of reason; she was definitely not worried about telling us the truth about what we would have to do to move forward with our date. I'm hoping we can plan something in the future and we will definitely want to work with Mary again.

Mary was the day of event coordinator for my daughter’s Sept 2020 wedding. Due to restrictions during Covid, the event was outdoors, at a private property, and planned within a short period. This made the day of event coordination all the more challenging. Mary was a phenomenal. Many moons ago, I send her an inquiry on The Knot and she immediately called me by phone. It was clear she was on top of her business and her follow-up foreboded well for potential relationship we might have. We had a lovely chat and I felt comfortable securing her services immediately. She was always prepared for our conversations and always offered to schedule the "next" talk ahead of time, never leaving me to wonder whether it was appropriate to be in touch with her. By the time we secured her services, I had booked all my vendors, so instead of helping me find vendors, Mary helped me strategize final details. She repeatedly offered to make herself available to me for whatever I needed, even though I did not want to bug her more than necessary. She came to our rehearsal dinner, helped us write the processional/recessional, and helped trouble shoot various items of concern in the days leading up to the event. She made contact with all vendors to confirm their services a few months out and then again the week before, allaying my concerns about whether everyone would indeed remember to show up! On the day of the wedding, I don't remember having to think about vendors once--which is a true testament to her managing the logistics of the day with ease and grace. Everything went smoothly--and if it didn't, I had no idea, which is exactly the way one wants their wedding day to flow. I can't recommend her enough. Truly--Mary was delightful, kind, funny, organized, professional, and very, very, very capable!

We hired Mary as wedding planner for my daughter’s August wedding. We somehow managed to get married amidst many life changes, and I ended up planning our wedding first from the other side of the country, and later in the midst of a cross-country move while starting a new job and living in temporary housing. This is a review for Mary Paredes Karnes of Mother of the Bride Wedding Planner. My granddaughter was married in July and Mary was our planner for the event. She started working with us many months before the wedding and helped us with all aspects of our wedding like the caterer, music, and flowers. She also helped us with the schedule for the day, and helped keep us all on time. I HIGHLY recommend Mary for your wedding planning needs. Myself (the bride) and my fiancee decided early on that we needed a Day of Coordinator for our somewhat DIY wedding at a summer camp. We had about 180 people coming for the wedding ceremony and reception, including 60 people sleeping over the summer camp Saturday night. I wanted to hire our vendors myself, but wanted some extra help for wedding day, especially since I would be in hair and makeup when the vendors started to arrive on wedding day. My fiancée and I also knew if we didn't get some help, my mom would end up being the go-to person for vendor and guest questions on wedding day, because that's just what she does. We didn't want my mom worrying about anything so we started to search for a Day Of Coordinator. I am so so happy we found Mary! First of all, leading up to the wedding, Mary was a huge help. She was always there if I had questions and was incredibly responsive. She helped me stay organized and work on timelines and all the details that come up when planning a wedding. When a week before the wedding there was a small chance of Hurricane Florence hitting Connecticut near our wedding date, Mary spent over an hour on the phone with my mom and I brainstorming contingency plans (which thankfully we didn't need!). She attended our rehearsal and kept things organized and efficient. On wedding day, Mary and her assistant for the day, Debbie, handled everything that came up. We had a long list of tasks for her to check on during vendor set up and she followed through with each and every one. Mary and Debbie helped with the transition from the ceremony space to cocktail hour to reception, and everything went smooth as can be. Mary took charge of watching our timeline and addressing any issues that came up with the guests, the food, the bar, etc. To be honest I have no idea how many little things came up throughout the course of my wedding day because no one bothered me about anything. My fiancée and I, as well as our parents, were able to have a wonderful stress free day. Mary interacted wonderfully with all our vendors from the DJ to the chef to the servers. She took care of last minute guests who showed up and discreetly got their name cards on the table before the guests could even notice. I had such a wonderful calm wedding day morning and a big part of that was because I knew Mary was there at my venue while I was at home relaxing and getting ready with my friends and family. I honestly don't know how we could have done it without her. She is the best and you should absolutely hire her for your event!

Mary was such a pleasure to work with! We asked her to coordinate the day of the wedding in order to manage all the vendors, guests, and transportation on the big day. She was super organized, calm, responsive, and thoughtful - both in the lead-up to the wedding, and during the actual day. I felt very comfortable leaving everything in her hands - and everything ran so smoothly and without a hitch. We hired Mary about a month before the wedding and are so grateful we did. We were mostly done with our planning at that point, but realized we wanted to just enjoy ourselves and not worry about timing or details on the day of the wedding. We also had a few things we were blocking on, which Mary helped us almost immediately resolve. She's done so many weddings that she has both an excellent sense of "how things are usually done" AND creative solutions to your unique problems. We had a few phone calls before the wedding, a few texting conversations, a productive but efficient rehearsal dinner, and she only asked me a few questions on the day of the wedding. Everything went off smoothly. If something didn't go smoothly, I have no idea and that's perfect for me! Mary has a truly calming demeanor and knows when to take charge or step back when it comes to coordinating with vendors, family members, officiants, etc. A perk that I hadn't expected was that she becomes the go-to person between your rehearsal dinner and the wedding. This was an ENORMOUS help since I just wanted to enjoy the time and be in the moment, so I could just send any last-minute questions that people had to her :) To top it all off, you can tell that she really loves her job. She definitely teared up a few times during our wedding, and I love that she brought one of her daughters along to help the day-of - it speaks volumes about the love and care she has for her work!
