We were very impressed with their menu, their reviews were outstanding, and we thought it was a perfect fit. We emailed for more information, and received copies of the menus that were on the website, as well as some pricing information and an ...offer to be included in the next tasting. Tastings (at least when we did it during COVID shutdowns) were set up like a takeout pickup. Included were 4 meals (1 main, 2 sides each), a sample of dinner rolls with plain butter packets, cutlery and napkins, and a folder with printouts of the menus, which were slightly different from the ones we had been emailed and seen online. You could then take your sample wherever you wanted, which was pretty cool! We drove to the river walk in Dayton and have a picnic in the park for dinner. The food was Excellent! We were very impressed with the quality. We were very pleased with the tasting, and ready to talk further. We replied to the email saying we were ready for next steps, and received a reply to call in to place our $500 deposit and sign the contract. I called twice with no answer. When they finally answered, she requested first that I put down the down payment, which I did. I asked her if she could send me a proposal, after which started to ask for details of the wedding. When I told her the venue, she started to sound negative, and told me that we weren't allowed to have paper plates there. When I asked why we could not have real plates and cutlery, she huffed and said that "it doesn't happen there". She said she would email me the contract to sign and return in 6 weeks, said we would talk again a month out from the wedding, and then said goodbye. The contract I received was very messy and unorganized. It was difficult to read, and had many grammatical and layout errors, which only added to our confusion. We replied with a list of questions from the contract for clarification, and again asked for a proposal. She replied with answers to our questions, and offered that proposals are only made when requested. We replied with what we were interested in, but the proposal we received was very confusing given what we had received previously from them. Many of the items we requested had been changed or removed, with either a note that it wasn't possible or no note at all. The pricing was also very inconsistent with the previous pricing information we had been sent, even accounting for the incorrect guest count in the proposal. We discussed at length whether or not they were the right fit. We felt rushed into placing our deposit, only to have the rug pulled out from under us. When the deadline to return the contract came we decided to pull out, even if it meant the loss of our deposit. We emailed back saying that we didn't think it was a good fit anymore, and that we would like our deposit back if possible. We felt that the reply was defensive, and only confirmed what we had felt up until that point. They did honor our request for a refund. I was very surprised with our experiences from Mrs. B's Catering, especially with their many 5 star reviews. This review has been removed multiple times on different websites, despite it being an honest account of our experience. Our opinion is that they are very unprofessional in their communication and business relationships. We would not recommend them to anyone but the most patient of couples.
TL;DR - Great at cooking, not so great at business.
