If I could give negative stars I would. These people do not have their shit together. They are completely understaffed and do not respond to anyone about inquiries. The staff has changed over several times in the last few months and their best wedding coordinator Maggie, left. This leaves Susan who is unfriendly, unresponsive, and extremely overwhelmed because she has no help. The hotel staff assigned to wedding room blocks don't answer any emails or phone calls/messages, and the front desk staff do not have the means to help when booking a room. This is by far the worst experience and most unprofessional staff i've ever heard of on a wedding team. Although it is beautiful and the renovations are great, it's not worth the headache and there are much better places in Newport to get married.

Our experience with having our September 2023 wedding and rehearsal dinner at the Newport Harbor Island Resort was wonderful and unforgettable! We originally booked the venue prior to the new owners, renovations, etc. so there were a lot of things in transition which did lead to us to enlisting the help of a separate planning and coordination vendor early on. Ultimately, we are so grateful for the entire NHIR team, especially the site coordinator Maggie K., for being a part of the backbone of the perfection of our wedding day! We were connected to Maggie just a few months before our wedding date and she really jumped in seamlessly and even helped us plan (and pivot) our rehearsal dinner plans due to weather.
The grounds themselves are stunning and provided the backdrop for our ceremony and reception. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how nice the space is, both indoors and outdoors. It was a perfect location for us to showcase quintessential New England/coastal RI to all of our visiting guests, and it was a huge plus that we were able to have everything all in one place.
All of the staff, from Carissa at our rehearsal dinner to Cheryl during our wedding tasting to Kelly, Joe, and truly everyone on our wedding day, were so friendly and accommodating. Our guests loved how fun the bartenders and staff were - truly added to the joy of the day.
The amenities, including the two options for bridal suite/groom's lounge, and reception hall, were spacious and well-maintained. The catering team provided such delicious cocktail hour and dinner foods - I had friends that literally licked their plates clean and were saying that it was some of the best wedding food that they’ve ever had. We also loved that the cake included in the package was from Sin Bakery in Providence!
Overall, we were pleased with our choice of venue and would recommend it to other couples. We highly recommend NHIR to any couple looking for the perfect ceremony and reception setting for their special day!

We originally booked this venue in December 2021 when it was still Gurneys. During our planning, the venue went through an ownership change and we had 3 different wedding coordinators. With that all said, the level of professionalism and support was amazing. We had 3 wedding coordinators in our time, Josephine, Shannon and Maggie, and all three of them were better than we could have imagined. We were extremely worried with the change in coordinators and each one was able to get back on track immediately. I have to give a special shout out to Maggie. Maggie started the role toward the end of our wedding planning and moved from another area in the hotel. I believe she was at this time working her other role and the coordinator role. Maggie was the glue that held us together that day and we could not imagine the day without her. She caught up on everything, was detailed, . They even double booked the bridal suite for the day and she got us the room next door to our hotel room to get ready in which was so helpful.
One special touch I have to mention is that my husband is sober and a worry of ours was a mix up of champagne in his glass. We figured it gets so busy that day and that may be on the bottom of their list to remember. Maggie had champagne glasses filled with ginger ale for us after we walked down the aisle and they had two bottles of champagne- alcoholic and non alcoholic- at the table for us. Maggie and the staff were all so kind.
We are so thankful for NHIR for being everything we could have dreamed of and more for our wedding day. Long story short, we could not have asked for a better location for our wedding.

Our wedding was like a dream at NHIR! Maggie, the catering sales manager, was wonderful! She answered emails promptly, handled all vendors and helped make our day flawless! The rest of the staff was just as helpful. They were accommodating along every step of the way. I can’t thank Maggie and the rest of the staff enough!

We absolutely loved having our wedding at the Newport Harbor Island Resort. It is a beautiful venue with amazing views and an incredible event staff. We worked with Jen and Josephine and they were both so responsive and helpful. Jen made sure that everything for the entire wedding weekend went smoothly. We were thankful to find a place where we could hold all of our events from the Rehearsal Dinner, to the Welcome Party, to the Wedding Day, and Post Wedding Brunch. The food and service were all amazing. We would choose NHIR again in a heartbeat.
Though everything surrounding our event was amazing, I want to be honest about the Front Desk Staff at the venue itself. We stayed there from Thursday to Monday and had a room block there. We found the Front Desk staff to be unprofessional and just not that great at their job. The two women working at the desk were very obviously flirting with my now-husband to the point that my bridesmaids noticed and my sister said something to them. They even told him that they were going to "crash our wedding". I find this super unprofessional. We also had to go back to get new keys from the front desk at least twice a day because they didn't seem to know how to activate them. They also forgot to hand out our Welcome Bags. If my bridesmaids didn't tell me on Saturday that they didn't receive them yet, I wouldn't have known. Luckily when I told Jen, she had it handled right away. Overall, I feel they do need to be a bit more careful when hiring people for the front desk role, especially since it is an expensive place.
Back to the wedding, it was incredible and we would still highly recommend getting married here despite issues with hotel staffing (event staff was perfect)!

We had our wedding at Newport Harbor Island Resort (formerly Gurney's) last Fall and could not have asked for anything better. The views, food, and staff were all incredible.
We had the privilege of having Shannon as our outstanding wedding coordinator- we highly recommend! She was responsive and organized throughout the planning process, and helped us to bring our vision to life. On the day of the wedding, she ensured everything went smoothly. Her calm and collected demeanor was greatly appreciated. We are grateful for Shannon’s hard work and dedication to our wedding and cannot recommend her enough!

Josephine and Shannon are truly the dream team - everything was prefect and they were so accommodating to all our requests. I had my wedding here on November 5 and it was a literal dream weekend. From the cocktail hour to the dinner service to the last dance of the night, everything was perfect and the service was top notch. Working with Josephine made everything so easy! Highly recommend!!

I had my wedding here on October 1st of this year and it was literally the wedding of my dreams. It ended up being cold/rainy, but I didn't mind one bit because the team at Gurney's was all over it. Josephine assured us that it would be beautiful indoors and it was. They transformed the Rose Island ballroom into a beautiful ceremony space. Working with Josephine and her team over the past year has been nothing short of perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better venue for my wedding day!

We had my daughter's wedding at Gurney's this past summer. We could not have been happier with the entire event. Josephine Gandolfo was one of the reasons we chose Gurney's and were extremely pleased dealing with her all the way through to the wedding. The food was excellent, the service outstanding and the view was perfect. If choosing again we would not change a thing related to the venue and working with Josephine.

Just had our daughter’s wedding at the Newport Harbor Island Resort! I would highly recommend this venue!! It is the most beautiful and spectacular venue!! Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful!! Thanks to the exceptional Josephine and her amazing staff all of our daughter’s wedding dreams and wishes came true!! Josephine made sure every detail was place and flawless!! She and her staff worked tirelessly to ensure that our daughter’s wedding day was the most beautiful, special and memorable day of her life!! Josephine loves what she does and loves the brides and their families she is doing it for!! We are thankful and blessed to have the pleasure of knowing and working with her!! The accommodations were great the food was great!! All of the staff was friendly , helpful and went out of their way to ensure all our guests were taken care of! I highly recommend the Newport Harbor Island Resort!! It is a 5- plus star wedding venue!!

Where do I even begin?!? I really could not have pictured a more perfect wedding and I owe a lot of that credit to Josephine Gandolfo. My now husband and I met Josephine in July 2021 to tour Gurney's premises and I really think she's about 75% of the reason we chose Gurney's for our wedding location. I truly cannot say enough good things about Josephine. I plan events for a living so clearly have a million questions and Josephine answered every single one with so much patience and kindness. She helped us make some really tough decisions throughout the planning process and also helped me calm down when I was overthinking things (which was often!). Everyone I came across at Gurney's was extremely friendly, very professional and SUPER accommodating. Josh was assigned to managing my hotel room block and he was outstanding. He was so awesome with all of my requests and his response time was unbelievable!! The weekend of my wedding couldn't have been more perfect. Josephine was there for us every second and REALLY helped me on the wedding day due to some difficult weather decisions. It turned out absolutely beautiful. Everything from the ceremony on the lawn, to the cocktail reception on the deck and the reception in the Rose Island Ballroom was just breathtaking. The grounds at Gurney's are absolutely beautiful, the staff was outstanding, and the food/drink were DELICIOUS. You cannot go wrong with this venue (especially if you're working with Josephine!!!!!). Our friends and family keep telling us it was the absolute best wedding they've been to and I can't disagree! THANK YOU GURNEY'S for making our wedding weekend the best time of our lives!!

We got married on June 27th 2021 and having our wedding at Gurney's was truly incredible. We were a COVID wedding that got postponed from 2020 and this venue worked with us during such a stressful time to make sure that we were able to get a future wedding date. They would call us weekly to update us on the guidance and what to do next.
Kris Shea is a true gem to this venue. She will go out of her way to make sure that you have the most perfect wedding day. Even during the crazy times, she was always there responding and offering support/ guidance on to what to do! I was so thankful to have her! The entire staff will also make sure that you are given the best day possible! To this day, my guest still talk about the venue, the beautiful sunset overlooking the bridge and the amazing atmosphere that Gurney has!

Kris Shea at Gurneys went above and beyond to make our day spectacular. She was so reassuring right from the beginning. She made us feel like family and was accessible for all questions no matter how small. The day of the wedding she checked in regularly to be certain we had everything we needed. Her team accomplished things in our ballroom that I hadn’t thought of with such attention to detail. We came away from that day saying “there was absolutely nothing we would’ve changed” The food, the room, the amazing views were priceless. Gurney’s surpassed my expectations on every count.

From the time we arrived to our wedding weekend until we left, the staff at Gurney's Newport were incredibly helpful and kind to us and all of our guests. In terms of the wedding planning experience, they were so flexible, easy to work with, understanding when we had to postpone 1 year (and did not charge extra for having to rearrange our plans). Josephine, our coordinator, really worked with us to make sure we had exactly what we wanted for the day, was extremely responsive and professional in the planning process. I truly felt like I as the bride could relax on the day and everything was taken care of.

My husband and I got married at Gurneys Resort and Marina on Memorial Day Weekend 2021 and the entire weekend was absolutely perfect! As many couples, we had to delay our wedding for a year due to COVID-19 but Gurneys was there for us during the entire process. As you can imagine, planning a wedding for over 2 years can result in a lot of changes, we had multiple wedding coordinators and each one was absolutely fantastic to work with! They would check up on us to see how we felt and gave us complete flexibility in deciding which structure we wanted for our special day. It truly made the whole negative experience of Covid significantly easier to manage.
We had Kristine Shea as our wedding coordinator, and as someone who didn’t previously work on weddings she was absolutely amazing to work with. She was there for us throughout weekend, and went above and beyond on making us feel comfortable. My husband and I are very much planners and while we already had reservations at restaurants all weekend, she was willing to give everyone a call to make sure we were taken care of.
The entire wedding weekend was magical. It actually poured on our wedding day, which caused us to use the rain plan. Even with that, Gurneys did a great job at explaining to us our options and working to make our dreams come true. Due to Covid, our wedding wasn’t as large as initially planned we originally had 280 guests but limited the amount to 120 which honestly felt like the perfect amount. As a result of the reduced size, our reception was in the Rose Island Ballroom which is absolutely stunning! It’s extremely chic, modern and directly overlooks the water. We are still getting compliments on how beautiful the venue was. The food is one of the best parts of getting married at Gurneys! I’ve literally never had a bad meal and the food on our wedding night was to die for! Chef Jason is a mastermind when it comes to his cuisines, he knocked it out of the park. Kelly, the matrie’d is the sweetest most accommodating person ever. She was wonderful to work with and made sure everything for our guests was taken care of.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous venue, on the water that has fantastic hospitality we couldn’t recommend Gurneys enough!

We had our wedding at Gurney's on October 26th this year. The venue is absolutely stunning - the perfect mix of coastal chic. Almost every angle you have an ocean view. Everything from the pool facility, restaurant/ bar, and rooms are impeccable. But the defining factor here is the staff. Our wedding planner Jacquelyn Sahagian stole the show. From start to finish she was an absolute rockstar. She worked with us for over a year and I can honestly say she made our big day that much more special with her upbeat attitude and delivery. Her team was also amazing - shoutout to Kim who was took care of my husband and I the whole evening. Could not have asked for a better venue or team. Highly recommend Gurney's for anything from a weekend getaway to your wedding day. Thank you!

Our wedding at Gurney’s this past October absolutely exceeded all expectations. We met with Jackie over a year prior to our wedding date and decided upon Gurney’s as our venue. From that point forward, Jackie was tremendously helpful with the planning process by keeping us on track to meet important deadlines and recommending several of the vendors that we ultimately used. Jackie made sure that all aspects of the wedding day were addressed and was always available to discuss any questions we had both big and small either by phone or in person. Any time we expressed uncertainty regarding a specific issue, Jackie provided tremendous guidance and recommendations. On the day of, Jackie coordinated our vendors so that the entire day went off without issue. Most notably, Jackie worked with our florist to completely transform the cocktail hour, reception and ballroom. The venue itself was absolutely beautiful. We were hesitant to hold our wedding ceremony inside; however, the ballroom provided the perfect intimate setting without compromising views of the ocean and sunset. The Gurney’s staff provided top-notch service the entire evening and was attentive to all of our guests. The food during both the cocktail hour and dinner was exceptional; we received countless compliments from our guests throughout the evening. Overall, we cannot thank Jackie and the Gurney’s staff enough for providing the wedding of our dreams and could not recommend Gurney’s highly enough to anyone searching for the perfect Newport venue.

Getting married at Gurney's Newport was amazing, ten stars across the board! From our first meet and greet to the final goodbye was said the morning after, everything was perfect. The team's professionalism and attention to detail was superb during the entire planning process. Jacquelyn was there for every step, even for my many after-hour questions and crazy ideas. During the day of the event, Jacquelyn and her team had every aspect covered. Even when the wind kicked up during the ceremony, they dropped everything (literally their radio and name tag) and were there to help me get down the aisle without blowing away. The location was beyond perfect, on the lawn with the bridge in the background was beyond perfect in every way. The venue it’s self was beautiful, inside and out. And the food – it was beyond what we expected, guests are still raving about their meals. We had the opportunity to have an after-party which was also very accommodating from food to the entertainment of the fire-pits, etc. And the next morning we had an amazing breakfast in the same room we hosted our wedding. Our out of town guest loved the experience and even talked about coming back for their own vacations in the future. I could not have asked for a better experience with Gurney’s Newport. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat and would not change a thing!

As my husband and I sit down to review our wedding weekend at Gurney's Newport we don't even know where to begin. It was nothing short of amazing and we have Jackie and the entire staff at Gurney's to thank. Coming from NY, the Gurney's name sells itself but the team went above and beyond and provided top tier personal and professional 5 star services. Not only were the grounds and views unbelievable so was the food and service.
We planned 3 days of events at Gurney's for our wedding weekend from NYC. Planning for 200 guests from out of state was not easy but Jackie made it extremely seamless. Talking to Jackie is so fun and when I got stressed her attitude made me feel better and reminded me of the importance of the weekend. We instantly clicked and felt like she was a part of our family.
We hosted our rehearsal dinner in Scarpetta and the food was delicious and the staff was top notch. The views from the private room were amazing and our guests couldn't stop talking about how terrific the entire experience was.
We also hosted Welcome Drinks in the Regent Lounge. Our event was supposed to take place outside but because of Hurricane Dorian we had to move the party inside. The indoor lounge was just as beautiful and they even blocked off another portion of the lobby for our guests. It even had space for our social media photobooth! The staff in the lounge again was so on top of it - we had over 125 people in and out for 2 hours and nothing fell short.
We hosted 200 people for our ceremony and reception. The grounds by the lighthouse were amazing and we offered water and champagne to our guests as they arrived to the ceremony. Our cocktail hour took place on the deck attached to the Rose Island Ballroom - talk about breathtaking. I had expressed my concerns to Jackie and Kelly in regards to our guest count and lines at the bar. We did not want people jammed at the bar waiting - they added extra staff and even made sure they put beer in bins next to the bar to reduce the lines. No one waited more than a minute for service . The passed hors d'oeuvres were extremely delicious - my father pointed out how well trained the team was - they made sure the people by the door where the food came out weren't the only one's to get food. They circled the entire deck.
My favorite part of the cocktail hour was the special touch I asked the team to make happen - we offered a Coastal Cocktails bar where guests could choose between white wine and Whispering Angel rose and choose from 3 different ice pop flavors. We worked with the Chef and Jackie to make this happen and our guests were blown away!!
The staff continued to run a streamlined event at the reception. Everything went extremely smooth and if something happened my husband and I had no idea. The Rose Island Ballroom is breathtaking and again the staff went above and beyond to execute in every way.
We hosted brunch the following day in the Rose Island Ballroom and again the food was delicious and the staff was extremely attentive.
Shoutout to the room block team as well - they were extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process and always available to our guests when booking.
I also lost my wallet that weekend and another shoutout to the front staff and porters who kept an eye out and thanks to Megan at the front for finding it a few hours later!
We cannot thank Jackie, Kelly and the entire staff enough at Gurney's for a phenomenal weekend!

Jackie and her Team are ABSOLUTELY fabulous! My husband and I got married at Gurney's at the beginning of September and we could not have asked for a more beautiful ceremony or reception, even with a hurricane! We were fortunate enough to have our first look outside, and then the ceremony inside while there was some inclement weather. Throughout the evening, the deck was open for guests and the weather turned out fantastic! Aside from the wonderful amenities and beautiful views, the staff at Gurney's are top notch! My husband and I have been going to Goat Island starting back when it was the Hyatt, and we also got engaged by the fire pits, it was a must for us to have our wedding celebration there. We worked with Jackie throughout the planning process and she was great to work with, attentive and available!! She stayed current with us and frequently checked in as the year went by to our wedding. There were a couple issues with the room block, but Jackie was very attentive and addressed them quickly. Jackie went above and beyond to make sure everything was great on our wedding day. Jackie and her team helped accommodate our vision and the rose ballroom was transformed! It was absolutely beautiful, the flowers, the lighting, the pleasant staff, the great food and drinks! It was so nice to go around table to table during dinner to see everyone with clean plates! The food was fabulous! From cocktail hour to dessert. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating, treating our guests with great service. Also, the after party at the regent bar was great! Guests loved the late night snacks and access to the outdoor decks and fire pits Throughout the weekend, our guests raved about their rooms, the wonderful views and the great housekeeping staff. Our bilevel bridal suite was great for getting ready the morning of the wedding! My husband and I were absolutely blessed to have our wedding at this premier waterfront resort marina, Gurney's! Highly recommended.

Our wedding was 8.23.19 and the most incredible day/ night of our lives! Jackie went above and beyond every step of the way to assist us in planning the wedding of our dreams! We had zero issues and everything was perfect. The team at Gurney’s was absolutely amazing. We had our ceremony in the rose island ballroom

We had our wedding here on July 27, 2019 and it was more than I could have even dreamed of. The staff at Gurney's, especially Jackie, made the entire process so nice and flawless. Leading up to the big day, she was always readily available to answer any questions or help with the planning process. Day of went better than I could have imagined. My husband and I got married at Gurney's at the beginning of July and we could not have asked for a more beautiful ceremony or reception. Aside from the beauty of the resort, the staff at Gurney's was a dream to work with from the first day we contacted them in regards to seeing the venue to the day after our wedding. We worked with Jackie throughout the planning process and she was amazing!! She went out of her way to get to know my husband and I and stayed connected to us throughout our year of planning. Jackie was organized, professional, and went out of her way to make sure we got everything we wanted on our wedding day. Everything went beyond smoothly on the day of our wedding, the food was awesome, the drinks were flowing, and the staff at Gurney's was tentative to all of our needs. Lastly, having gorgeous rooms on site to get ready in and for our guests to stay in, made our experience even more special. She got engaged in Newport and that area is so special to them, so, we visited MANY venues. My daughter had already spoken with our wedding coordinator Jackie prior to our first visit to Gurney’s, but she truly made us want to seal the deal as we knew immediately that Gurney’s was something special and so was Jackie! We thanked her many times for her patience and kindness during the planning process.
Fast forward through the nearly yearlong planning and before we knew it; wedding time was here. My daughter and I checked in one night earlier than the wedding party to have a mother/daughter night which I highly recommend. We REALLY enjoyed our spa treatments (with a discount as part of the wedding package!) Our special time together was made even better by a late dinner by a firepit, other guests sending us drinks when they heard she was getting married and watching the fireworks!
The day of the wedding was a flurry of activities; including getting the bride, myself, 5 bridesmaids, 2 junior bridesmaids, and 4 flower girls ready. Our little nephews were in the wedding too. Those kids mean a lot to my daughter and I know they will never forget being included. She had the Commodore suite and her bridesmaids helped decorate it to full Pinterest style with big BRIDE balloons and much more for the most fun photo ops!
The ceremony was on the north lawn facing the bridge. The photo opportunities are amazing from the lighthouse to the entire sea wall where guests walked by the beautiful pool and tiki lounge and gorgeous modern fire pits and more to get to the cocktail hour which had both beautiful lawn space with Adirondack chairs and a lovely wrap around deck with a great bar setup and amazing views. I know I would have loved that as a guest; but, as MOB, I was with my daughter being in and taking photos which was great fun for me. The photographers they chose also included videographers (a must for this location!) and they used drones as well! The joy on everyone’s face taking photos while boats full of people sailing by cheering them on was priceless.
The reception was in the GORGEOUS Rose Island Ballroom with its beautiful views of the bay and sailboats. The entire floor is a dancefloor and the soft colors and ambiance were breathtaking. The food was DELICIOUS! We heard particularly rave reviews on the Filet Mignon and the Chatham Cod dinner options. Service was great, and we and our guests felt well taken care of!
Our family and friends have flooded social media with photos from the wedding and their own personal time at Gurney’s. The sunset with the bridge and a gorgeous bride and handsome groom made for the most spectacular photos!
As I told my daughter, her wedding day was the new happiest day of my life. It was just perfect.
There are many beautiful places in Newport, but the grandness of Gurney’s had us and our guests feeling like we were all at a destination wedding.

We had our wedding at Gurney's on Friday May 10th 2019 and were planning to have the ceremony and cocktail hour outside. Due to rain and wind we moved it to inside which turned out to be the best decision we could have made. The ceremony in Rose Island room was perfect and beautifully laid out by the Gurney's staff and the transition to the cocktail hour and eventually reception was seamless. Jackie S was the wedding coordinator we worked with at Gurney's and I would recommend her 10 out of 10 times! She is very organized and extremely helpful during the months of planning leading up to the wedding. The food at Gurney's was unbelievable, they were able to accommodate our all of our dietary restrictions (gluten free, dairy free, no shellfish) without an issue. Our guests are still raving about the food and the panna cotta dessert. We had the best time at our wedding and could not have done it without Jackie and the Gurney's team. I would recommend them over and over again whether your wedding is inside or outside.

Don't hesitate for a second! We had our wedding here this past New Years Eve and it was a dream come true. We had a bumpy start, but Gurney's was our top choice for our wedding as it has been a special place for us of NYE the past 10 years so we were beyond excited when the date opened up. Once Jackie hit the scene it was absolute perfection. I can't say enough positive about Jackie... she saved my sanity on multiple occasions, made me feel SO comfortable with everything from start to finish and became a friend throughout the craziness of wedding planning. Jackie was such a pleasure to work with, I genuinely miss talking to her weekly. She made sure I was on top of everything, letting me know what I needed to do by when and gave me plenty of information about next steps, advice if I needed it and was a true expert. I will never be able to thank her enough for helping make our wedding the best day of our lives and the process truly enjoyable and fun. Come wedding weekend I was able to relax and enjoy every second because I knew Jackie, along with Marissa the Banquet Captain, had it covered. I was right, everything was PERFECT. Not one thing went wrong and if it did, I still don't know about it. The whole weekend was fantastic thanks to everyone at Gurney's from the front desk staff, especially Ashley and Hanna to the valet/bellmen - Rob, Dave, Matt and Sloan. Everyone made sure our guests were taken care of, our car was always available and welcome bags were distributed among many other things such as bringing up a room key (multiple times, sorry Matt & thanks!!). Many of our guests took the time to tell us how impressed they were with Gurney's and the staff as well as what an incredible job they did with our entire wedding weekend, including a post wedding brunch that was out of this world! I will be forever grateful to everyone at Gurney's for making our wedding so incredibly special and perfect. Like I said, don't hesitate for a second, if you're looking for a gorgeous setting with first rate staff, you'll find it at Gurney's.

We had our wedding at Gurney's in Newport this past September. It was a destination wedding weekend for us with 140 guests, many who stayed at Gurney's with us. Everything was beyond beautiful. The location on the water is stunning. Amira, Nicole, Kelly, Madalyn and the entire staff worked with us from start to finish to make sure our weekend was a perfect 10. Everything the day of ran flawlessly, which made it so that we never had to worry about anything except having a great time. This was a second wedding for both of us, so many of our guests have been to a number of weddings before and I can't tell you the number of people who said that this was the best wedding that they had ever been to and how they can't wait to return to Newport and Gurney's.

We had our ceremony and reception at Gurney's in September. Our ceremony was on the North Lawn and reception was in the Rose Island Ballroom. First of all, we booked Gurney's before they had done all of the renovations, and the hotels updates are beyond expectation, even from the renderings. They did a wonderful job turning this hotel into a magical modern weekend retreat. The guest services at the resort all weekend from bell hop to event manager were unparalleled. The views are breathtaking from both ceremony and reception sites, the food was phenomenal, the wait staff was accommodating and our event manager, Amira, helped us make the day unique. They were very flexible and accommodating when we were designing the menu as well as the flow of the event. Two aspects that they need to work on are communication/responsiveness to questions throughout the planning process, and timeliness of delivery of the main course.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Gurney’s Newport. I got married this past Friday and the whole experience has been more than I could have ever dreamed of! From the amazing staff to the beautiful location to the incredible food to the complimentary things that we received for booking out wedding there. Also the suite that we were given for the night, that was also complimentary for the wedding night, was so beautiful. They made us feel like royalty! We plan on going back very soon!

Our wedding at Gurney's was an absolute dream. Between the venue, food, drinks, views....you name it! Our wedding coordinator, Jacquelyn, was beyond professional, responsive and organized throughout the entire planning process and ensured our wedding day was seamless! My wife and I got married at Gurney's Newport in late July 2018 and had an amazing weekend; we received compliment after compliment from our family and friends on how perfect of a night it was, and we totally agree.
Our coordinator Jackie couldn't have been better; although she had only been with Gurney's a handful of weeks (she took over for our original coordinator), it felt like she had been there for a number of years. Jackie's experience in the industry clearly played a role as she knew the answers and how to handle situations like an industry expert; she was knowledgeable, professional and great to work with
My wife and I are both very detail oriented people and had tens (if not hundreds) of questions we were sending her way to get every little detail perfect (especially as we got closer to the wedding). Jackie not only worked with us to answer all of our questions, but provided suggestions above and beyond, utilizing her expertise to make our wedding that much better. She definitely exceeded our expectations
One the day of the wedding, Jackie was there every step of the way. She and the captains guided us through the process, kept everything moving according to our elaborate plan, and stayed late into the night. Every time she checked in with us we gave her the thumbs up, because it was all running so smoothly. The captains also did a wonderful job, especially making sure we got food and water and enjoying every aspect of the evening
Overall, we were really pleased with our experience and our wedding night, and we owe a ton of that to Jackie
Special shout out to Maddy and Nicole on the reservations side, who were super helpful and flexible in setting up our room block and scheduling our room reservations. We had a couple special requests, including adding a night at the last minute for my sister and brother in law who recently had a baby, and they handled it like pros. We really enjoyed working with both of them as well

If you plan to get married in Newport we strongly recommend getting a block of rooms at Gurney's. The staff is helpful and courteous. The grounds are nice and the view is beautiful from almost anywhere on property. They provide regular transportation into town which is another added bonus. The bar and restaurants offered both variety and a fun comfortable atmosphere. We were very satisfied.

We booked Gurney's right after they changed from the Hyatt when they were still undergoing renovation in June of 2017 and got married this July. The end result of all the renovations was beautiful!! The ballroom is gorgeous and the view is amazing. There is basically a 360 view of water, the bridge, and the lighthouse. Our guests loved the food. They also had the option for a Ben and Jerry's Dessert cart which was a huge hit. Overall a great experience!

Our wedding over labor day weekend was amazing. The location is absolutely gorgeous. We couldn’t have been more happy with our wedding planner Joanna, she did a great job planning it with us. Every detail was met and our day was truly a fairytale. Our family and friends were fascinated with our venue. My wedding was on July 2, 2017 at Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina. When I had originally booked this venue, it was still the Hyatt and I was working with a coordinator named Kirby. About a year after this the Hyatt became Gurney's and I also got a new coordinator named Joanna. Despite all the changes, they upheld everything that we laid out in the original contract and the shift was very smooth. Gurney's made many renovations to the hotel which I loved, from the beautiful ballroom, the the lobby and poolside and so much more! I was so happy these renovations were all done in time for my wedding. Anyways, my wedding here was an absolute dream! Joanna was a pleasure to work with, always quick to answer any of my emails or voicemails. She was always very pleasant and easy going which made me feel very comfortable around her. The venue is breathtaking, we even got surprise fireworks across the bay which was the cherry on top of the cake. The staff were all friendly and met all of my needs. Everything was picture perfect and if I had to do it all over again I would choose Gurneys every time! Thank you for a dream wedding!

We had our wedding in May 2017. We booked it 2 years prior when it was still the Hyatt. The transition was a little shaky for guests calling the front desk and we ran into a few problems with the rooms that I had blocked off but as soon as I brought these problems to the coordinator Joanna, or the Sales Manager, Emily's, attention they were fixed incredibly quickly. There was construction sites on the property during our wedding but they blocked off everything so well that no one even noticed. Joanna was amazing to work with, she didn't leave out any details and offered some advice when I had trouble with small decisions! I was so pleased overall with the entire staff. The catering staff was amazing. I've gotten so many compliments from my guests saying everyone was so pleasant and friendly during every encounter. I didn't have anything to worry about the day of the wedding; Joanna, Alexandra and Emily made sure everything was in place and every detail went according to plans! We couldn't have been happier with them! If I had to do it all over again, I would do it the exact same way!

We booked our wedding reception here when it was still the Hyatt and Joanna was assigned to be our coordinator. When they changed ownership we were told that everything in our contract would be honored and not to worry. A month later we found out that wasn't true, as we were told multiple things, including the site of our reception, would be changing. We tried contacting Joanna about it and after over a month of dodged calls and emails told us she would see what she could do about it. After another month of dodged calls and emails we were told that she spoke with the manager and there was nothing they could do to honor what was in our contract. We tried setting up a meeting after that and in the process ended up speaking to the manager who had no idea any of this was going on (and we found out she lied about trying to fix everything and just blew us off). With all the changes we weren't able to afford the new (and downgraded) reception so we had to cancel it. Since Gurney's wasn't able to uphold their end of the contract we were able to get our money back, but I had to find a new venue and plan everything there with 3 months until the big day. Hopefully the management there gets it together, no couple should have to go through what we did while wedding planning.

My husband and I had a great experience working with the team at the Hyatt Regency. Joanna and her team were incredibly responsive and easy to work with. We really enjoyed their support and professional advice in planning our special day! The team was very accommodating with coordinating and updating our room block, with our own room reservation, and with miscellaneous deliveries (flowers, dessert, etc.) and additional space for doing our own flower arrangements. They provided expert advice that helped us make the right decision for our open bar, and ended up saving us $$!!
The catering options were all delicious at the tasting as well as the wedding, which is not an easy feat for 200 people!
A traditional hotel ballroom was not my original choice for my wedding venue, but given the size of our wedding, it was our best budget option. The room was absolutely gorgeous that day. And after working with the team at the Hyatt, I know it was the perfect option for us, and I wouldn't change a thing. It was the perfect venue to host our semi-destination wedding!

All I can say is planning a wedding in less than 6 months is a hard thing to do- but I started working with Kirby, and then when she left, Joanna took over- and let me tell you...they were amazing. Joanna answered all of my annoying emails, helped me to just trust her (since I am a bit of a control freak) and ended up executing the most beautiful day. She really did plan the wedding of our dreams and my husband and I have nothing but great things to say about the Hyatt, in particular Joanna. I wish I could live the day over and over again. I always wanted my wedding by the water and the Hyatt Regency Newport exceeded every expectation I had. I planned my wedding in Newport from Dallas, TX which I thought would be difficult, but the Hyatt was so attentive.. I started working with Kirby over a year ago and when Joanna took over a month before my wedding she didn't skip a beat. She listened to everything I had to say, answered all my calls and emails and made our day so special. The whole team at the Hyatt made our day stress free and my family and friends enjoyed their stay. We finished with a breakfast at the pavilion the following morning, and the views were amazing. It was everything I wanted!

The Hyatt Regency Goat Island, was the most beautiful site for my daughter's wedding this past weekend. Every person contributed in so many ways and we are extremely grateful. We originally started this journey with Kirby who helped us plan this huge event over this past year. When she left and Joanna took over we were equally as thrilled with her expertise, kindness, and always returning my zillion calls so promptly. She is the hardest worker behind the scenes and was a total joy to work with. Her Captains Michelle and Kelly were also so professional and worked so hard to make the day a total success. Having our family and friends stay at the hotel made it extra special.Thank you to all who contributed in making this dream weekend for my daughter and now husband come true!!!! And yes, the sun came out and the views were amazing!!!!!

The Hyatt regency exceeded our expectations as a venue for our ceremony and reception and a hotel for our guests this past weekend. We started out working with Kirby who helped me tremendously in the beginning. She recommended vendors, transportation, everything we needed. When Kirby left I was a little nervous but Joanna picked up right where she left off and didn't miss a detail!!! She was super attentive and responded to my emails and phone calls right away. Alex joined in to help as another catering manager during the final week before our wedding. However, they ladies wore many hats building up to the day of my wedding. For an entire year they acted as my wedding planners. I could have not have asked for a better venue for our fairytale wedding. Kelly, our captain and all of the attendants at the reception went above and beyond... If you want to get married in newport this is the place to do it. Not to mention the views are spectacular!!

We had our wedding at the Hyatt Regency Newport on June 18, 2016 and it was the most perfect weekend! We happened to have amazing weather all weekend, and it was a beautiful spot for our 50+ guests traveling from Maryland. Kirby was an absolute star through the whole wedding process and was our contact person for everything, from planning the little details of the ceremony and reception, to running our ceremony rehearsal. We held our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and brunch here and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and all the food and service was top notch. It was truly the best day of our lives!

As mother of the bride things can get pretty stressful. However, our planner, Joanna, was right there each and every time we reached out to her. She responded to emails as quickly as she received them---helping any way she could! On the wedding day she was right there to guide us through the day and everything met all our expectations. Both he Newport Hyatt Regency and the Rose Ballroom are beautiful, the view from the lighthouse is amazing and the food was perfect!

I cannot praise the Hyatt enough for everything they did for us for our wedding. Kirby is absolutely amazing. Beyond words. She answered every question we had right away, and made me feel so comfortable and at ease during the entire planning process. Working with the Hyatt was a great experience. I cannot say enough nice things about Kirby!! I had a ton of questions throughout the planning process and she not only never once lost her patience with me but also seemed genuinely happy to answer my bazillion questions (plus my moms -- who called her quite a few times). We had the hurricane the weekend of our wedding which forced a lot of last minute changes. Kirby made sure i was kept in the loop for all of those changes. She really went above and beyond when she drove the whole bridal party to the rehearsal dinner because the other shuttle was already gone.
Everything was wonderful the day of the wedding. The reception hall was beautiful and the service amazing. My favorite part of that night was working with Henry. He was so attentive, always asking if there was anything i needed and he ended up running over to the DJ when a Christmas song came on. Henry also tried so hard to get me to sit down and eat and when i finally gave up he had my food boxed and sent to our room so i could eat it later.
And the food! I didn't eat a lot of it because i was too busy but everyone loved it. I didn't hear a single complaint and most people went out of their way to tell me it was fantastic.
If i had to do it all over again i would do it at the Hyatt for sure. Just this time i would make myself eat the food :)

If you go and tour the Hyatt on a beautiful day, the venue will pretty much sell itself. You cannot beat the scenery and being right on the water by the lighthouse. Choosing the venue was the easiest part for us initially, but it became the biggest source of stress for us once we booked.
Our biggest complaint about working with the Hyatt was the amount of staff turnover we had to work with during our 15 month engagement. In total we had three different room-block managers and three different wedding coordinators, all who had different responses to the same question. We had to check and double-check every bit of paperwork and every detail along the way. Our final coordinator we worked with was very nice, but unfortunately started at the beginning of peak wedding season which may be the reason communication and follow-up on things from the Hyatt were not the greatest. Several things were stated by our coordinator at the rehearsal that never happened the day of the wedding (keeping in touch with MOH, groomsmen and vendors; sign for signature drinks).
Despite all of the headaches and snafus during the planning process the wedding day itself was absolutely perfect. We had picturesque weather and the banquet staff was exceptional with their service. My best advice to future Hyatt brides is just to be organized for your own sanity!

The Hyatt Regency Newport was the perfect place for our summer wedding. The venue itself is picturesque, the food was delicious, and the event ran smoothly throughout the night without any input from the groom and myself. One of our favorite features of booking at the Hyatt was having access to their wedding planner, Kirby Conheeny. She is by far the most organized, enthusiastic, and passionate wedding professional that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Our engagement was two years long, and Kirby was there to answer questions every step of the way, especially as we got closer to the date and my questions got more specific and more frequent. She accommodated every request that I made. On the day of the wedding, she was there to make sure that everyone was in the right place at the right time, and her demeanor made everyone feel happy and calm. I absolutely loved my wedding at the Hyatt, and most of it had to do with Kirby's superb planning abilities.

I could probably write a novel about the amazing experience I had from holding my wedding at the Hyatt Regency Hotel with the assistance of the amazing Kirby Conheeny as my wedding coordinator.
Trust me when I tell you that my husband and I went to every single wedding venue in existence in the Newport/Bristol/Portsmouth area. We started looking almost a year and a half before our wedding date. I cannot tell you how many people we met with to find a potential venue. I literally cannot...I lost count! We found some venues we liked, but were way out of our price range. It seemed as though we liked a few of them, but nothing really made us feel like, "YES! This is the one!"
Cue, Kirby.
From the moment we met her, we instantly clicked. She was so personable and made us feel like she was more of a friend helping us plan the wedding that we wanted, rather than just working for a paycheck. In fact, I probably should have have asked her to be one of my bridesmaids, that's how comfortable I felt with her. She was willing to work with our budget, she's highly organized, and she definitely helps steer you in the right direction if you're ever having trouble making a decision(and I am terrible at making decisions). I really must say that the whole process of planning a wedding, which we all know is such a huge, daunting, terrifying experience, was made so much easier with the help and guidance of Kirby.
My good friends who had gotten married before me would always complain about waiting to hear back from an e-mail or phone call they made to their wedding coordinator and I saw how much stress it had caused them. Luckily, I didn't have to experience any of that stress! Any question or concern I had was addressed in a prompt manner, and I never ever felt like I was being ignored or neglected. That was so huge for me because I had a ton of questions all the time. If I could show you how many emails I sent to Kirby, your jaw would most likely drop to the floor. It's probably in the thousands.
Kirby is on the ball all of the time. She is so organized that it makes wedding planning what it should be - fun and stress free. She makes sure she is available to you when you need her. By the end of the wedding, I was actually sad that we wouldn't be corresponding as much, because she really did become a friend throughout the process. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else helping me plan and actually be there on my wedding day. She made sure Kevin and I had the best wedding we could have imagined - and we did! The day went off without a hitch, everything was just how we wanted it, the food was amazing(Kirby even got us our own plate of hors d'oeuvres so that we wouldn't miss out on them). I also wanted to give a shout out to our Captain (basically our personal servant throughout the night), Kelly. She always made sure we always had a drink in our hands and that our service, food, and everything else was nothing short of excellent!
For my husband and I, the Hyatt was the perfect fit for us. From the delectable food, updated modernized hotel, to the beautiful scenic Newport views, and -most importantly- the friendly staff, especially Kirby. All of these aspects make the Hyatt a wonderful place to have a wedding. We even got enough points the Golden Passport program offered by the hotel to get a few free nights at the Hyatt in Hawaii for our honeymoon! I can't thank Kirby enough for making our wedding day a truly unforgettable experience.

I can't say enough wonderful things about the Hyatt Regency Newport!! We recently had our ceremony on site on the lawn and our reception in the Rose Island Ballroom and the day was absolutely perfect. Kirby, who was our coordinator, was amazing and took care every detail. Throughout the whole wedding planning she answered all our questions and eased any worry or concern we had throughout the process. Day of she and her team thought of everything and the day couldn't have gone more smoothly! The ceremony was beautiful in front of the lighthouse with views of the Newport Bridge and the reception looked exactly how I pictured it would with all our flowers and decorations. We still have friends and family who are talking about how wonderful and fun our wedding day was. I would absolutely recommend to any bride the Hyatt Regency Newport and their fantastic staff!!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the Hyatt and also had our main wedding room block here. It was such a disaster!
In regards to our room block, the Hyatt forgot to give out our welcome letters with the shuttle pickup schedule. Due to this we received dozens of calls on our wedding day from frantic guests who did not know how to get to our ceremony. Even worst than this, numerous guests were not given their room until 5:30PM (check in is supposed to be guaranteed for 4PM). Due to this they barely made it in time to our ceremony, we were devastated. Our guests also told us about numerous problems with their rooms: broken toilets, room left wide open by housekeeping, no front door!!!
In regards to our hotel room, my parents were given our "honeymoon" suite by error!!! I don't even understand how this is possible. The service was awful, we ordered breakfast the day after the wedding and were made to wait almost an hour. Once the food came the waffle had no maple syrup at all and the coffee to milk or sugar! We had to wait another 30 minutes for a replacement which we were charged for!
Numerous issues with our rehearsal dinner as well. The space for the waterfront pavilion is very nice right on the water however it is not worth the aggravation and disappointment (not to speak of the very expensive price). We had to work with 3 separate managers to plan our event, the first one quit, the second one would honestly not get back to us for 2 weeks at a time even though her voicemail would say she was in the office every time we called so we requested a different manager to work with. This 3rd manager who was supposed to be there for the duration of the event spent maybe 20 minutes at our event and then left someone else in charge who was not briefed in on our event!!! The setup for the waterfront pavilion was not what we had agreed on in advance. To my great dismay I told the manager that the groomescake was a surprise for my fiancé yet two different staff members went up to him to ask him questions about when he wanted the groomescake to come out. When it did come out they stuck the groomescake behind a huge coffee maker and towers of cups, no one saw the cake. We had agreed upon a 2.5 hour open bar for our rehearsal dinner with a possible additional 30 minutes yet when we told the staff to actually add the extra 30 minutes they told us it would not be possible, that we would have to pay per drink instead of the extra 30 minutes of open bar.
The worst part of the whole experience is that we emailed the manager after the wedding weekend to express our dismay and she NEVER REPLIED!!!! How incredibly rude and what a lack of customer service. Three weeks later, we escalated our email to her manager (sales director) and he did not even apologize or offer to make it right. He made excuses for every problem there was or even worst: straight up told us we MADE THIS UP and that IT DID NOT HAPPEN. Unreal!!!
I have stayed at Hyatt hotels throughout the world and will never set foot in a HYATT hotel again.

Our wedding at the Hyatt was amazing and memorable!! Our guests keep ranting and raving about how it was the best wedding they have ever been to because of the food, friendly staff, atmosphere, and the breathtaking views. Kirby and Carl (our Captain) were such a pleasure to work with. From the moment we saw the venue, my husband and I knew the Hyatt was for us. Kirby was extremely thorough and prompt. She always responded to me within a few days. The weeks coming up to the wedding she was always available and helpful. The day of our wedding, everything was perfect. The staff did a great job with creating my vision and I wouldn’t have changed anything. The food was phenomenal and the view was spectacular. The only compliant I had was that not everyone, including myself, were able to eat or finish our meals due to the wait staff clearing the tables; however I would not put the blame on the staff as our guests were either too busy dancing or outside!

We recently held our wedding at the Hyatt Newport Hotel & Spa, and we cannot say enough good things about the venue, the staff, the location, the food and the entire experience. In particular, our event and catering manager Steven James was beyond extraordinary. I think it is very rare in a business like Steven's where he manages countless weddings each year to find someone who makes you feel like your wedding is the only wedding he is working on, and he did just that. It is exceptional. From the moment we met, Steven he went above and beyond to help us plan our perfect day, and the entire venue did not disappoint. He made planning fun with helpful suggestions, his availability, and general excitement for his job. Beyond the beautiful views and wonderful appetizers he showed us at our showing, Steven's enthusiasm was one of the main reasons we chose the Hyatt. We held a "wedding weekend" at the Hyatt with a large room block for our out of town guests, a bridal luncheon at the Hotel restaurant, we used 2 suites to get ready on our wedding day, the first look photos and of course our actual ceremony and reception. The venue alone is amazing surrounded by gorgeous views of the bay with a serene setting at the lighthouse for the ceremony. It is worth noting the hotel is a great location and a ton of fun if you have a large group of guests from out of town. The Rose Ballroom and adjacent deck were the perfect place for our reception. We had brought several little touches with us that needed to be set up along with our decor and flowers, and Steven and the staff did this with no problem. It looked even better than we expected. Our guests continue to rave about the food including our cocktail hour raw bar. The chef is amazing, and the food is not at all mass produced for a big event...it was delicious, and the Hyatt offers ton of options. They had no issue dealing with allergies for some of our guests. It was all out of this world. The staff was so polite and helpful. We researched several venues for the wedding, and without comprising anything, the Hyatt was a great value for the area. Steven went out of his way accommodate us on our wedding day from arranging food to be sent up to the suites to helping us "not be seen" by our guests before the ceremony every little detail was planned out. The Hyatt has a longer window of time for your actual reception than most, which is great since the day goes so quick to begin with! We would recommend the Hyatt and specifically Steven James to anyone looking to have a fantastic, fun, beautiful, stress free wedding in Newport. You cannot go wrong!

Not good. A lot of the rooms were not ready when my guests arrived. Some rooms were very old, some rooms were great. Charging top dollar and you don't get what you pay for. Unorganized...to many different departments that don't talk to one another. Waited all day for a steamer to use on my wedding dress, no one seemed to have an answer. My mom finally went to the store and had to buy one!!! Over priced for the quality of service.

We met with Steven James, Catering Sales Manager, at the Hyatt on our very first day of venue shopping for our October wedding, and we never turned back. From day 1, Steven impressed us with his personality, attention to detail, and the overall feeling that he truly cares about his brides and grooms. There was a different feel at the Hyatt compared to other venues we had visited and we just knew they would help create a perfect weekend for us. We also worked with Anne S. for our room block and contract. As a bride who was a bit OCD with lists, follow ups etc, Steven and Anne ALWAYS responded so quickly to my many, many questions and I couldn't have gotten through wedding planning without them! Both was wonderful about all requests we had. My personl favorite.. Steven helping us make a blue signature cocktail!
The weekend of the wedding, we were greeted by Steven and Anne in the lobby and words cant describe how comforting it is to be welcomed and treated like we were. Anything we needed, was always taken care of. Our guests all had a great check in experience and Anne was amazing at helping with lists and distribution of wedding welcome bags.
We were getting married in a church but having our reception in the Rose Island Ballroom. We met our banquet captain Matt, the Thursday before the wedding and it felt like we had been working with him from day 1 as well. During the reception, he was always there to help us with drinks, food, let us know the next part of the night, etc. He is a true asset to the Hyatt team and any bride and groom would be lucky to have him by their side.
We had a little bit of rain on our wedding day, and Matt and Steven worked so hard to try and get cocktail hour outside for us. Once we noticed the rain wouldn't end, they moved cocktail hour inside and it was equally as beautiful and fun! I was having some dress malfunctions which ended up causing me to miss most of cocktail hour. Because we got in there a little late and because our guests were having so much fun, Matt and Steven extended cocktail hour a little longer to ensure everyone could continue having fun.
Not only is the staff team amazing, there is not a prettier view for pictures. Before the rain started and when the rain stopped, we were able to get gorgeous pictures with the bridge behind us. The lighthouse is also a gorgeous spot for formals.
We can't say enough about the Newport Hyatt and how they helped us have the most perfect wedding and weekend. We already talk about visiting next Columbus Day Weekend for our anniversary :)
