We hired Oakleaf Bakery for our wedding cake! My husband and I met in Boston, and frequented this bakery when we first started dating. There was no question that we wanted an Oakleaf wedding cake, and we certainly made the right decision! Our interactions with Julie, the owner and our cake designer, were efficient and extremely collaborative. The flavors were out of this world amazing, and the cake was the most beautiful cake that we have ever seen. Julie crafted our visions exactly as we had hoped and made our dream wedding cake come to life. The Oakleaf team delivered our cake to the venue on time and displayed it beautifully. Our guests are still raving about how delicious it was. We highly recommend Oakleaf Bakery for all of your events.
We did not go the traditional route of a wedding cake but instead did several flavors of cupcakes to get a variety of flavors. Oakleaf was super easy to work with and also offers vegan options for those who need them–and tastes just as amazing as the non-vegan options. We would highly recommend Oakleaf to any looking for a bakery for their next event.
Oakleaf is incredible!! They were so easy to work with and in my opinion are SO affordable for the amount of talent and beautiful cakes that they make. They were also willing to make a fully halal cake for us with non-alcoholic vanilla extract (which a lot of cake vendors were unable to do for us). Our tasting appointment was complimentary, they gave us 6 cupcakes with the flavors we requested - and they all tasted amazing!. The day of our wedding - the cake looked and tasted absolutely beautiful - and it was exactly what we asked for!
We did not have traditional dessert at our wedding (ice cream sandwiches from a food truck) but we knew we wanted a small personal cake for my husband and I to cut. Sarah at Oakleaf was quick to respond, easy to work with and the cake artists there delivered exactly what we wanted. The design was absolutely beautiful but the cake and frosting were even better! We would highly recommend Oakleaf for any of your future cake design needs.
We used Oakleaf Cakes for our wedding and were incredibly impressed! The team was very responsive and professional, and the cake and cupcakes were DELICIOUS and absolutely beautiful. The initial "cake tasting" experience was a bit underwhelming, but overall I would highly recommend anyone in the Boston area to work with them. The price was extremely reasonable, and we had so much flexibility with our cake/cupcake flavor combinations, designs, etc. Our guests loved the variety and my husband and I sneak back to Oakleaf's brick & mortar location once in awhile to try new flavors that we didn't have at our wedding. Thank you, Oakleaf!
Our wedding cake from Oakleaf looked and tasted amazing. Oakleaf accommodated is for two tastings as my family came in from out of town, and I was indecisive on the look of the cake. They were helpful and flexible throughout the process, and we ended up with a gorgeous cake that perfectly complemented the rest of the wedding.
Did not get a wedding cake but wanted to warn those who are that she delivered a cake to me with a hole in the topper and the words on the cake was slanted. The hole can be seen in her cake gallery with the photo she had taken prior to delivery. Her response was that she doesn't feel like it deterred from the cakes attractiveness. The words and topper was the focal points to the cake and both were not on par.
Our cake ended up being one of my favorite parts of our wedding! When we walked into the venue and I saw it for the first time, I think I squealed with delight.
We did a tasting/consultation in advance (and we actually had two separate appointments because we wanted to try the funfetti cake and trust me – it was worth it!) and ended up going with a four layer cake for our wedding of about 120 guests (we had estimated high at 150 before we got our RSVPs back).
Our flavors were funfetti (SO GOOD) and vanilla and we chose a mix of lemon, raspberry and blueberry icing and vanilla fondant. Thankfully, our wedding coordinator sent us back to the hotel with a sampling so we could try each and every flavor combo (since it’s really true that you barely eat at your own wedding!). It was EXACTLY what we wanted!
We saved and froze the whole top layer and I’m already looking forward to eating it on our anniversary.
Worth noting, we also got an assortment of vegan cupcakes for a couple of our dairy free guests and they were also a huge hit! The bakery itself is so cute and they have a delicious variety of pastries, cupcakes and coffees.
Holy Smokes! The coolest, best tasting cakes we've ever had. People still talk about the cakes from our wedding. In fact, I think people just remember we had cake, and totally forgot what we were celebrating. The cakes stole the show, but in a very good way. My husband and I are avid cake wars, extreme cakes, ultimate cake off and so on fans which is why we chose Oakleaf. The cakes turned out way better than what we imagined. When the truck arrived with the cakes, the bridal party paused getting ready and ran to the window to see the cakes. The excitement was so high about the cakes and Oakleaf delivered.
I would use Oakleaf for any event, big or small. The owners are the nicest and the entire staff was always very communicative and easy to work with and everything tastes amazing there.
Oakleaf Cakes was a joy to work with. The tasting was so much fun (I mean, who doesn't love free cake and frosting?), and the advisor listened to what we wanted and made a rendering that was exactly what we wanted. Because we only could afford a two-tier cake, we didn't need it delivered, and when we had a kerfuffle in who was picking it up when, they were very flexible and understanding at the myriad of changes made in a short time. The cake was EXACTLY how I had pictured it, down to the details on the three starships decorating the corners. This bakery has won several awards, including a cake-decorating competition show on Food Network, and the awards are absolutely merited. A lightsaber salute to this bakery!
We first came across Oakleaf Cakes when we were living in the area and strolled by one day on our way over to Fenway. We stopped in for some lemonade and a treat, and both were delicious! So, when we started wedding planning, I thought this may be a good place to consider for our cake.
One of my husband’s favorite parts of wedding planning was the tastings, and Oakleaf did not disappoint. They prepared 6 cupcakes for us with different cake and frosting flavors. And we got to try the fondant as well, which was a yummy marshmallow flavor. All of the flavors were delicious, but we settled on a lemon cake with raspberry buttercream frosting. Since we wanted a yellow cake, we also had a layer of lemon buttercream frosting as the outer layer. I had found a picture of a beautiful tiered buttercream ruffle cake online that I presented for inspiration. We were quoted a reasonable price that was within budget. Also, Oakleaf had vegan options, so we ordered 6 cupcakes as well for our vegetarian guests.
We weren’t looking to spend a lot on the cake but we wanted something tasty, and Oakleaf did not disappoint. The cake was beautiful and so yummy. We got so many compliments from our guests. We even enjoyed our top tier on our one month anniversary! Thank you Oakleaf!
My husband and I decided to have an nontraditional cake presentation for our wedding. Instead of one large cake to be cut and serve all of our guests, we decided to have a small cake on each guest table. We always noticed at other weddings that when the cake is finally cut and served, everyone is dancing and I never wanted to leave the dance floor to enjoy the dessert. We figured this way, our guests could enjoy the dessert when they pleased. That being said, we needed to order 16 cakes! During the tasting process, Oakleaf was far and beyond our favorite. They offered the most unique and delicious flavors and we were immediately impressed (and we tasted a lot of cake!). We placed the order and discussed the design and cost. Their bakery manager (if you can even call him that) was incredibly difficult to communicate with and our desires did not seem to be received clearly. I ended up going back into the store a few times to talk face to face which helped but I was so busy planning the whole wedding that it really was a burden to me. My suggestion: hire a designated manager to handle large orders for weddings or other events. Even after all the issues we had, Oakleaf did an amazing job on the day of our wedding. Everything was delivered on time, looked amazing and everyone said it was some of the best cake they have ever had at a wedding.
We had cupcakes and a small cake for cutting for our wedding. The cakes were so pretty and delicious!! We chose four different flavor combinations and they all tasted amazing. We received so many compliments from our guests. I would highly recommend Amanda Oakleaf Cakes for any special event!
I had a groom's cake of a New York Giants helmet made to give to my husband at our rehearsal dinner. Not only did the cake look fantastic, it tasted great too!
Amanda Oakleaf made a completely custom surprise groom's cake for our rehearsal dinner- it was absolutely spectacular! I brought them a pile of pictures, images, and ideas that represented 28 years of my fiance's life. They were able to create the most amazing and delicious 4 tiered representation- it was beyond anything I could have imagined. Our guests were so impressed and my fiance was blown away. They have such a creative and fun team, they were a pleasure to work with, and they did an incredible job!
We absolutely loved our cake - Amanda and her team created exactly what we'd envisioned and delivered it flawlessly and on time with no hiccups. Also loved that they make cupcakes for your cake tasting - great idea and lots of fun! Highly recommend them for special occasion cakes. : )
THE BEST CAKE IN THE WORLD!!!! It tasted amazing, and looked stunning, it was everything I asked for, and it tasted fabulous.
You want a good cake? Go here!!
We chose to have Amanda Oakleaf do cupcakes for our October wedding. We had 6 different flavors and they were a hit! Would highly recommend them to all engaged couples!
Amanda is a phenomenal decorator. The cake itself is a bit drier than I like, but the marshmallow fondant is definitely better than any fondant I've ever had, so the taste is great, just not mind blowing. We had her do our grooms cake because we knew that we wanted it to look the best! We had her do a ball and chain with little figurines of us and our dog. (We did this because we were getting married in a hotel that used to be a jail and loved the pun!) Everyone commented how cute the cake was and we loved it so much we couldn't bear to cut it at the wedding.
If you want an amazingly decorated cake, Amanda is the one to go to. I wish her cake tasted as good as our regular wedding cake, but her decorations are what sold us on her!
Amanda Oakleaf was a breeze to work with. The entire staff was incredibly accommodating, helpful and responsive. The cake was absolutely gorgeous - better than we imagined. Everything from the tasting to the day off was hassle free and so simple. We went with 3 flavors. 2 out of the 3 did not get very good reviews with our guests. The guests said that the red velvet and mexican chocolate were very dry. We have a full tier of the lemon raspberry at home and thought that was delicious. Ultimately, we would use them again as we were most concerned with the design - which was perfect.
I wish I could give them a glowing review but I just can't. First and foremost, the cake and cupcakes were delicious and all of our guests loved them. The main problem that I have is with the service that we received. We ordered 110 cupcakes in four different flavors and a square top tier that would fit on a 10" cake stand that my husband I could cut into. We showed Amanda a picture of a cake that had a fondant design that looked like lace and was elevated on the cake stand because it had fondant points on the bottom that hung down (the best way I can describe it is that it looked like a bunting pulled straight). When we showed Amanda the photo she pointed at it and said "Is this the part that you really like?" and we told her yes. In all honesty it was the ONLY design option that we asked for with the cake and the cupcakes. The Sunday before the wedding I got a phone call at 5:55pm from someone named Tim calling to go over some things in the contract. In the message he says "We close in 5 minutes so unless you get this message right away give us a call on Tuesday because we are closed on Mondays." My question is this: if you have to go over some details with a bride WHY would you call her right as you are about to close and WHY did you wait until the last second? Shouldn't this phone call have happened a week earlier? I called him back on Tuesday and he is going over the details and he has it all wrong. he is talking about a round cake that will feed 10 people and 100 cupcakes. Wrong wrong wrong. I went over what everything was supposed to be and I thought it was all set.So the wedding day is here! I walk in to the dining room before the ceremony and the cake is missing the one design aspect my husband and I asked for - the points on the bottom of the cake. The fondant design is also all wrong - it looked like flowers, not lace. They are giving us a $100 gift card, but it was disappointing to have gone over all the details many times and still have it be wrong. With that being said - the cake was delicious and it seems that my experience is not the normal experience. Amanda was traveling during my wedding so other people were in charge of my cake, and they did apologize and take ownership for what happened (which, like I said, was not a HUGE deal, but was disappointing none the less). Worth it for the taste of the cakes, just make sure to go over EVERY detail.
Great cake!! They were great to work with and collaborate with on the cake.
Very creative and talented staff.
Amanda did a grooms cake for our wedding and a surprise to my husband! She did our dog Sam (a big black lab).
She got him perfectly and he was flavored chocolate with peanut butter frosting! Delicious!! He was at our rehearsal dinner and we decided to transport him to our wedding, as there were other desserts at the rehearsal! Everyone got a kick out of the likeness of the cake to our real dog! Perfect!
While Amanda makes beautiful cakes, she was definitely laking on the customer service side. She was too self important, glad we went with another vendor instead.
Amanda Oakleaf knows CAKES. I emailed her after searching for wedding cakes in Boston via Google. I met with her to talk about some ideas I had for our wedding cake and the next night, she emailed me with 2 sketches of what she thought might look good. She also brought different types of cake to try, and boy was it great. We ended up going for a 4-tier cake for roughly 110 people, and she painted the design on the marshmallow fondant. We picked red velvet and carrot cake. Her red-velvet was out of this world. Carrot cake was just okay. But the cake was gorgeous. Since she's fairly new to this business, her rates were a little cheaper than say some other cake people in the Boston area. The great thing also was that our venue did not have a previous relationship with any cake vendor, so we were able to try anyone we liked. It worked out well.
Amanda is an absolute FABULOUS cake maker! She has a unique eye for design and all I did was tell her our theme which was ice cream and she totally drew up her own design which was absolutely AMAZING! She totally knew what I was looking for and has such a unique eye for sculpting. I looked all over the northeast for a great cake baker and as soon as I saw her sculpture work I knew it was her. I highly recommend her!
