After touring the Oliver, meeting the staff, and hearing about all the services they provided, no other venue compared for our November 2024 wedding with 125 guests. Wendy and Curtis made the process seamless for us, providing great vendor recommendations and advice along the way. They were available for our questions whenever we needed them, and walked us through all the details at our two pre-wedding meetings.
The Oliver provided tables, linens, bartenders, staff for flipping the space from ceremony to reception, security for the parking lot, and even a coat check, all included in the cost of the venue. When one of our other vendors fell short on their service, the Oliver staff came through for us. They will do everything they can to make sure your wedding day runs smoothly.
The building is gorgeous, with a cocktail hour space and lovely outdoor area on the first floor, ceremony and reception space on the second floor, and a beautiful bridal suite, groom’s suite, and even a family suite on the third floor. The venue rental is from Friday to Sunday, which was invaluable in allowing setup time on Friday and take down on Sunday, so that we could get ready stress free and party all night long after the wedding.
I highly recommend the Oliver, it is the obvious choice!!
We held our ceremony and reception at the Oliver Building and truly loved it. The Oliver team is amazing, caring, and organized. The space is beautiful and having the building for the entire weekend made setting up and tearing down easy and stress-free!
They are absolutely awesome!! Steve the owner gave us our first tour and he is very upfront about the venue and cost. He actually went down $2000 for us without us even having to negotiate anything. Caitlin the Venue Coordinator is very helpful and great with communication! The venue its self is absolutely beautiful and had plenty of space. Room flip went amazing and all the workers were professional and knew what they were doing. SO GLAD we chose this venue especially since you get it Friday morning -Sunday afternoon
Any questions?
The Oliver Building was the perfect venue for our daughter’s November 2023 wedding and reception for 200+ guests, and we could not be more pleased with how everything came together so beautifully in such an amazing and historic place. The venue itself is gorgeous and unique in so many ways, with vintage décor, beautiful wood floors and wood and brick walls throughout. Each of the three floors available to use are spacious and are yours for the entire weekend, a huge positive for us. There are two nice suites on the third floor for the bridal party to get ready; as well as a family room that can be used for lunch, snacks and/or child care during the event. The first floor is perfect for cocktail hour and later games and/or fun booths during the reception. The second floor is large, open, and beautiful, the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony as well as for a reception. The Oliver staff has “flipping” the space on this floor from wedding ceremony to reception down to a science, while guests enjoy a cocktail hour downstairs. I would be remiss if I did not mention Caitlin O’Donnell and her staff. As the event coordinator for The Oliver, she was fantastic. She was organized, always responsive to any questions we had, and in general a joy to work with. As a MOB not living in Kansas City, her help and assistance at every step was so very important. She worked beautifully with our wedding planner as well as our multiple vendors. I am so happy that The Oliver was our venue of choice and Caitlin was its event coordinator for our daughter’s beautiful wedding.
The Oliver was was wonderful for my daughters wedding. Very organized, professional and supportive. In particular, Caitlyn filled the role of wedding planner and was so much help!
The staff at the Oliver were INCREDIBLE. They were always open to our questions and requests. They’re so organized and detailed I didn’t have to stress or worry about anything falling through the cracks from the time we booked them til the end of our wedding day. They kept the day flowing perfectly and made sure everyone was where they needed to be. We had a couple meetings beforehand to review everything and make sure we were good to go with no questions or confusion - which was super helpful when coordinating other vendors as well. We loved having the space for the whole weekend so there was no rush or pressure to be out the same day, giving us time to relax a bit and enjoy the day with our family and friends. I 10/10 recommend this team and their space!
Where to begin with how great our experience was with the Oliver building. First off I’d like to thank Caitlin ODonnell for making our day feel extra special and how fluid our ceremony and reception went. She went above and beyond. The Oliver building staff was fantastic when it came down to following the timeline given.
The Oliver is an amazing place for a wedding. So many rooms upstairs and down-everything needed for getting ready, putting on the wedding, cocktail hour between the wedding and setting up the reception and then hosting the reception. It was an amazing experience and we did not have even one tiny hitch. The building is stunning. The staff was so helpful-always available, and are "can do" kind of folks. My daughter and her husband, the families on both sides and the guests raved about the building all night. We will definitely book again for our next event.
The Oliver was the best venue! It was unique that we got the venue for 48 hours so that made the weekend a lot less stressful! The Oliver is BEAUTIFUL and had so many amazing photo spots! The staff was absolutely AMAZING and so willing and quick to help! Could not recommend The Oliver more for a wedding!
We held our wedding ceremony and reception at the Oliver Building and I can't recommend it enough. Curtis, Caitlin, and the entire team were a delight to work with. They make everything super easy and we got compliments from many of our guests about how beautiful the venue is. They continue to make improvements to the venue and event services, but even without those, it would be a five star experience. I love that the team is more concerned about your experience than profit, and they genuinely care about you and your guests. This is a must-see venue, and perfect for any event!
The Oliver Building is one of a kind, from the unique and beautiful space to the west bottom vibes it made our wedding the best day ever. It has the best photo opportunities everywhere in the building and outside. We cant thank Caitlin, Curtis, and the entire staff for making the experience from start to finish for our wedding go smoothly and perfect.
We booked The Oliver Building way back in July 2020 and held our wedding there on 9/24/22. The venue is amazing and you can bring in your own vendors which was huge for us. The building itself is so beautiful you really don’t need a lot of decor to “dress it up” because it doesn’t need a lot. Caitlin (the day of coordinator that comes with the venue) is the best. She took care of SO many details, big & small, which took it off my plate and made the months leading up to the wedding day & the day of a breeze. Caitlin promptly answered all my text & emails and never seemed annoyed by all the questions. The venue is a Friday-Sunday rental which is especially nice because you aren’t running around Saturday getting everything packed back up before it’s time to go. We left everything Saturday night and were able to come back Sunday afternoon to gather everything. 0 complaints about The Oliver Building and would get married here 100 more times if I could!
We loved having our wedding at The Oliver! The space was perfect and they made sure everything ran smoothly the day of! Highly recommend!
The Oliver Building was the first vendor we booked which really set the tone for the amazing level of service we had from all vendors on our wedding day! We were originally drawn to the style and historic beauty of The Oliver, but all of the amazing amenities and support from their team made choosing them as our venue a no brainer. It checked so many boxes for us: open-vendor policy, all-weekend access, close enough to downtown but still with ample space for parking, unique setting, venue coordinator and on-site staff, and provided linens, tables, and chairs. They also have an ADA accessible entrance and an elevator with an attendant for anyone who cannot manage the stairs, which were must haves for us with older family members. In the year after booking, they made so many awesome updates to the building which really shows that they are invested in making sure everyone’s events are special for years to come. One of the greatest “bonuses” of The Oliver is the family suite; it really came in handy to have an extra (comfortable!) space for family members who weren’t in the wedding party, but were on-site for getting ready and family photos. We had multiple walk-throughs leading up to the big day, and the planning meetings were so helpful. Everyone on their team was so pleasant to work with, especially Caitlin and Curtis! They are so hardworking and accommodating. Everyone always had a smile on their face and made us feel so special. They provided staff for setup, room flip, cleanup, and someone was onsite any time we were there throughout the weekend to answer any questions that came up. It was reassuring to know that these important tasks were taken care of, so we could simply enjoy the events with our loved ones. With access to 3 floors, there is a lot of space for your event, but the warmth of the materials and colors of the building make the space feel intimate enough for smaller events as well. We loved the natural beauty of the building’s style so didn’t feel as though we needed to decorate too much, but the space can be dressed up to any liking. We received so many compliments about the venue from our guests, and we are so happy to know that they enjoyed celebrating at The Oliver as much as we did. I would seriously recommend this venue to everyone, and hope to have or attend another event there in the future!
The Oliver Building is a hidden gem in Kansas City. We cannot recommend this venue enough! We had our wedding there 10/9/21 and it was everything we could have asked for. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure your day is amazing. Steve, Caitlin and Curtis were life savers and you could not ask for kinder people to work with. In our pre-wedding planning meetings they covered every detail we could think of. On the day of our wedding, I've never seen people work harder than Caitlin and Curtis. They are true rockstars and genuinely care about their couples.
The Oliver not only offers 3 floors of usable space, but bride, groom & family suites. We've had the opportunity to be in a few wedding parties at the Oliver and you cannot beat the amount of space you have to get ready, the spacious cocktail hour area, or the 2nd floor reception area. Over the past year they've done many updates to the building including refinishing the floors, painting and redecorating the suites.
We're so glad we chose the Oliver Building for our wedding and the day wouldn't have been possible without their amazing staff.
What an incredible venue!!! We had our wedding here and everything was top notch! Caitlin, Curtis, and Steve were all wonderful to work with and made planning for my wedding such a breeze! This venue not only is stunning and massive, but has an incredibly competitive price with tons of inclusions that other venues don't offer! We are forever grateful to have had our special day at The Oliver Building!
The Oliver building did a fantastic job with our wedding! The cost of the venue compared to the amount of space and time we got really made our decision. A huge main reception area, downstairs cocktail area, bride and grooms suite as well as a guest suite allowed us to feel relaxed and at home the whole day of our wedding. They only do one wedding a weekend which allowed them to focus on our day and made working out the timing and rehearsal very easy. Caitlin does an excellent job planning, communicating and organizing things leading up to the wedding and does a great job coordinating with all vendors the day of. Her "day of coordinator" role was another big factor for us. The building is beautiful, well decorated, clean and a perfect "west bottoms" vibe. There experience and suggestions for how things typically happen are honed in but allow for some wiggle room if you want to do something differently. If you are planning your own wedding The Oliver has everything in place and the experience behind them to take any unneeded stress or decision off your plate. 10/10 would recommend.
The Oliver Building is ran by Steve and his team who are incredible to work with. Caitlin is their wedding coordinator at the venue. She is friendly, responds in a timely manner and was happy to listen to any suggestions/help with last minute changes. The building in stunning and you get the biggest bang for your buck. To start, you get access to the venue the day before which is huge for setting up. You have access to all three floors – bottom is a great cocktail hour space, second floor for reception and top floor includes bride and groom suites to get ready. We were also allowed back in the next morning to collect leftover items. We had around 270 guest and it fit everyone comfortably! It’s also located in the west bottoms which makes for great rustic photos.
We hosted my daughter’s wedding reception at the Oliver Building in July 2021. We started with a cocktail party on the first floor. There were 260 guests and there was plenty of space for movement but the room did not seem too large. We moved upstairs for dinner and dancing. And again, there was ample space for a head table (18 people), two buffet lines, dance floor and seating for all the guests. It is a wonderful place to host a wedding reception because in addition to the physical space, the Oliver Building staff is committed to customer service. They are quick to respond, flexible, and helpful.
The parking situation is well thought out with a dedicated lot, and signage to make it easy to find. With the flexibility to bring in your own caterer and liquor, the Oliver Building stands apart as a exceptional value when compared to other wedding venues.
We booked The Oliver Building for our November 2021 wedding and feel so confident that our big day is going to be perfect! Steve has been nothing short of responsive, helpful and accommodating. He is quick to respond to any and all questions we have had. The tour of the building was very thorough and the space is amazing! Steve was very accommodating in giving us a second walk through after booking so our families could see the space. Can not recommend The Oliver Building enough thus far! Will update after our event.
We have just booked the Oliver Building for our wedding in 2022. Steve has been very responsive and easy to work with so far!
We had a wonderful experience using The Oliver Building for our wedding reception. Steve and Nikki were very accommodating and flexible, which lessened the anxiety for me as the bride. Also, the space is INCREDIBLE. A very open floor plan that should be able to handle multiple layouts + the gorgeous exposed brick and wood that give the building it's character. We loved it!
A few other perks: good + secure parking, a cool vault you can use for a photo booth, etc., easy access from downtown, multiple screens for videos or a slideshow and more. I highly recommend for a large event!
We knew of the Oliver from having been there for a holiday party and knew it was the perfect setting for our Old Hollywood glam/ Gatsby inspired wedding. The vintage decor, wood and brick walls we perfect and the refurbishments Steve and team have made are gorgeous. Steve was great to work with and he and his team delivered everything we asked for and then some. Our wedding was Superbowl Sunday and when our beloved Chiefs made it to the big game, our itinerary changed a bit, but the Oliver staff was great and helped us make our Superbowl reception a night to remember. We are so thankful to Steve and Billy for everything.
