Melissa truly is an artist who paints with flowers. My daughter's wedding venue (the Branford House, elegant in its own way) was transformed with Melissa's floral designs. From her excellent recommendation for a floral arch to anchor the outdoor, oceanside ceremony space (including size requirements and how to stake it against the offshore wind) to the inclusion of additional colors such as mauve and blush in my daughter's shades-of-white bouquet request----Melissa never steered us wrong. Flowers on the cake, the flower girl's precious crown, the bride's simple yet sumptuous bouquet, stunning floral centerpieces encircling floating candles----it was all perfect. The candle light reflected off the glass and the water to lighten the moody, dark feel of the ornately carved woodwork at the Branford House. It was such a lovely, lovely canvas embellished by Melissa.

Working with Melissa was so easy! She took the time to listen to all of my ideas and really understand my vision for my wedding day. She was very patient through multiple proposal revisions and even made a flower crown happen for my flower girl within 24 hours before my wedding day! On the day of, Melissa & her team were super sweet and efficient. My flowers looked exactly how I envisioned and her team set up my table centerpieces, decorated the ceremony chuppah, etc. beautifully and so quickly I barely even noticed they were there. Highly recommend working with Melissa & her team for your wedding!

After two postponements due to Covid, Melissa helped make our dream wedding finally come true! She was so patient, professional, and easy to work with, not to mention how incredibly talented she is. Melissa was wonderful to work with! She was efficient, knowledgeable, and helpful. Coming from CT to BI for our wedding was stressful but having vendors such as Melissa made it so seamless. She has such a vision for florals and really listens to what you want while still giving you great advice. We are so happy we went with Painted Rocks and couldn’t recommend them enough. We got lucky with Melissa’s willingness to help find other vendors on the Island as she knows everyone! We were able to rent beautiful farm tables for our reception and with our arrangements they looked beautiful.

Working with Melissa and the Painted Rock team was a dream come true! Melissa took the time to truly understand my vision for my wedding flowers and was so flexible in scheduling time to discuss the designs. The result was amazing! You could totally see the careful thought that went into each display and bouquet. Working with Melissa was awesome - she was so pleasant and helpful when it came to choosing arrangements. Melissa is the best! We got married at the Spring House in June and Melissa helped us think through everything from “which flowers are in season” to “is there a way to repurpose the arbor” to “will bud vases fly off the porch if it’s a windy day.” She knows her Block Island venues inside and out, is a great thought partner, will give her honest opinion on what’s needed/not, and takes the perfect amount of creative license. I was so impressed by our phone call to discuss our vision because I went in thinking “I don’t know flowers, I don’t know what to ask for.” Trust your experts, especially Melissa! She’ll ask all the right questions to get you to that vision.

Melissa did an amazing job on our wedding florals. I didn’t have a vision, I just told her beachy, pretty and block island-ish and she nailed it. My bouquet was gorgeous and the drift wood arch was so cool and fit the landscape of our beach wedding perfectly. She even created the cutest table centerpieces that fit perfectly with the fun casual vibe we wanted for dinner. Melissa was a dream to work with and her florals are a work of art.

Melissa saved the day when it came to my wedding flowers. Melissa had created beautiful arrangements for a friends wedding and my fiancée and I could not stop obsessing over her florals. Melissa agreed to put together 14 bouquets, 16 boutonnières, 14 table runners plus many other small details with just 6 months to my wedding. We had many phone calls and emails back and forth, which included everything down to looking at the swatches of my bridesmaids dresses. The day fo the wedding Melissa not only delivered the bouquets and arrangements to different locations but also created one larger bouquet out of 2 jr bridesmaids bouquets after there was a change in bridal party day of! We reached out to Melissa after seeing all the beautiful work that she has done. We were on a budget and she was able to help us figure out use flowers that would make the most impact, and how to repurpose things from the cocktail hour/ceremony for the reception later. The flowers were absolutely STUNNING and it was so wonderful to see our vision come to life. My friend has worked with many florists and was also impressed by the quality of blooms that Melissa chose to include in the arrangements. She delivered the flowers to the hotel where we were getting ready and then got everything set up at our venue so we didn't have to worry about a thing! We cannot say enough good things, she is amazing and we highly recommend her!

When we were looking for vendors for our Block Island wedding it was important to us that they were familiar with the island and with each other. Melissa exceeded every one of our expectations. She was an absolute joy to work with (even through a very unpredictable COVID summer) and was one of the first people to contact us when the management at our venue changed. It took us some time to determine exactly what we wanted for our bouquets and centerpieces and we could not have been happier with the results. I literally screamed when she walked through the door with my flowers. They were everything that we had discussed and more.

I worked with Melissa from Painted Rock Designs for my wedding on Block Island in September 2021. I knew little to nothing about flowers and what I wanted. Melissa was a fantastic guide. She was not afraid to give it to you straight. She answered my questions honestly and openly and worked with me to be cost-efficient with my budget. She absolutely nailed my vibe. My flowers were absolutely stunning. So beautiful that I was scrambling to keep as many as I could after the wedding was over. Flowers to me are one of the single most important visual aspects of a wedding and Melissa at Painted Rock made ALL of our floral dreams come true! She was wonderful from moment one and quickly felt as though she were just as invested in our big day as someone I’ve known my whole life. Melissa was beyond amazing, I can not rave about her enough! When I first began the wedding planning process I though "ugh why am I spending so much money on flowers" then I met Melissa at the Block Island Wedding show! Her display was stunning as usual. She is also the owner or one of my favorite stores on Blok Island, My Oyster. We meet there a few times to discuss ideas and wow when they came to life they were absolutely perfect. She is so chill and really understands your vision and takes it to a new level. She made the most gorgeous flower chandeliers to hang from our tent! By the end of the wedding planning process and leading up to the big day floral became my favorite part of my wedding thanks to Melissa! Melissa did the floral arrangements for my wedding on Block Island. She was so relaxed and knowledgeable  from the beginning. We had to postpone our wedding from May to August and went from having 100+ guests to around 60. When we postponed the wedding, Melissa said she'd be there. With all of the other uncertainty, I knew I didn't have to worry about our flowers for one second! Melissa really gave us a sense of confidence in a time of stress. Our flowers came out BEAUTIFULLY - Melissa came the morning of the wedding and set everything up and we didn't have to worry about a thing. I was in awe when I saw how beautiful my bouquet was. Melissa did an amazing job bringing my vision to life! Our wedding centerpieces were beautiful, along with pieces for our wedding arch and all of our bouquets. It was everything I had dreamt of! Melissa was super helpful for my big day! She was so great to work with and after a phone call and pictures sent to her she made my vision come to life!! My husband and I were immediately drawn to Melissa for her creativity and charm. We met her at the Block Island expo where her arrangements really stood out to us, so we were so thrilled when she agreed to do the flowers for our wedding! I loved her working style, which started with sharing Pinterest boards back and forth and turned into exactly what we wanted. Melissa not only gave us what we wanted, but she provided ideas for our cake topper, our mother’s bouquets, and a flower collar for our dog. She was always accessible and super flexible. And on top of all that, she is a fun person who genuinely loves what she does!

Melissa at painted rock was amazing. I live off block island and was not able to meet with her prior to the wedding, but she was able to work everything out through text and email. She took my vision and made it happen. Even better than expected. On the day of the wedding she hand divered bouquets and set up the venue by working closely with their staff so I did not have to worry. She made everything so easy and flawless. Her floral designs are contemporary and she can create anything you desire. I’m so happy I chose her for our special day.

Melissa and her team are incredibly talented. From helping you brainstorm your vision, providing advice and recommendations, and most importantly, executing and delivering your perfect wedding flowers. I went to Melissa with a mood board and in the end, had the most beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces and arbor I could have ever dreamed of. Melissa was a complete game changer for my daughter's Block Island wedding.. I HIGHLY recommend her! Her taste level, decision making and organization took all of the pressure off of my daughter, and as a result, off of me! She understood my daughter's vision in 5 minutes and we let her run with it. After meeting Melissa, I fell in friendship love and decided to have her be even more involved in our wedding. I can not thank Melissa enough for what she did for me. She was unbelievable. I highly recommend anyone traveling to block island call her. For any flower arrangements. They are amazing. She even went above and beyond to set up my hotel room. She picked up chocolates set up a rose petal design in the shape of 2 hearts. And my new bride was completely surprised and loved it. Our daughter was recently married on Block Island. WOW! Melissa was amazing! She accomplished exactly what we had envisioned and then some. It was magical. My husband and I celebrated out 40 th year wedding anniversary on Block Island at the Spring House. Melisa from the Painted Rock was our florist. She did an absolutely amazing job ! Our event was a destination wedding. I did not actually meet Melisa until a few days before the ceremony. She captured my vision via phone and email. Our 6 grandchildren and three adult children were in the ceremony and Melisa created the most beautiful pieces. She decorated a wooden wagon, 2 little chalk boards. She made the most gorgeous ring of pompas grass for the ceremony. Melisa is the most creative, professional florist and a great deal of fun to work with. She was also a great resource for me as she lives on the island. I highly recommend Melisa and the Painted Rock ! I would use her again !

Working with Melissa was amazing! She was patient and took time to fully understand our vision and truly cared about her work and making our wedding beautiful!

I had a very unique vision that Melissa worked with me for months to bring to life. I wanted lots of colors, in different flower shapes and sizes in wildflower like arrangements. I did half round tables where she incorporated old antique lanterns that she decorated and were all unique. The other half were wooden farm tables and she did long and low decorations on driftwood that I had collected with my mom with eucalyptus, flowers, and seashells. I also rented her driftwood arch which she also decorated with the same color and flower scheme and wrapped fabric - I wish I could post pictures because words don't quite do it justice. The bouquets were all stunning as well and she made mine a little extra special with pompous grass and thistle. Melissa is an artist and her talents matched my vision and I trusted her judgement and suggestions which had a lot of different components that really pulled together in such an amazing way. We did a sweetheart table which stole the show with her arrangement - your eye traveled around the room and there were so many beautiful things to look at but our table the arrangement was WOW. I think it's one thing to have beautiful flowers but how they pull everything together and function throughout a space is really the extra special element that Melissa has. We received so many compliments and the flowers really were everything we imagined and more! Thank you!!

Melissa from Painted Rock Designs was amazing to work with. She was easy going while I sent her pictures that inspired me then changed my mind repeatedly. She wasn’t afraid to kindly give input and her knowledge and expertise was evident and spot on. She took my vision and designed arrangements that far exceeded my expectations while staying true to my desires. She personally delivered everything, came back to be sure that the flower arrangements for the reception were perfect and she could not have been easier to work with! If you only read one review, let it be this one: Melissa and her team of floral magicians are simply THE BEST. My husband Greg and I got married during the week Hurricane Jose decided to camp out off Block Island's shore, canceling flights and ferries - and therefore, FLOWERS - all week leading up to the big day. Melissa did not miss a beat, calling/texting me with frequent updates, both her and us anticipating the "Block Island Factor," but never to this extreme. Well, when the flowers eventually came, she had 2 days to work when she had counted on 4-5, and honestly, on the big day, it was like everything had gone according to plan. The bouquets, the garlands we used as table runners, bud vases, the baby's breath wreaths for the church and inn, the bouts - it was all just like we had dreamed of, and more. We didn't have a wedding planner, but I did have a vision in mind, and we definitely made the right choice. Painted Rock Designs does absolutely gorgeous work, and Melissa is the person you want on your team for Plan A, B, C - she's lived through it all and can get it done, with such attention to detail. If you're getting married on Block Island (or anywhere, really), she's the obvious choice - worth every penny and just a delight to work with along the way. She even owns an adorable shop where she has wedding accessories and decor to supplement her gorgeous flowers. We ended up renting GORGEOUS barn tables and buying delicate/whimsical bud vases from her and her husband - they are a power wedding couple! Oh, and did I mention we and her flowers made the front cover of Block Island Wedding magazine? These flowers deserve a not so humble brag because they are actually cover page perfect. Melissa is fantastic! She was very easy to work with and professional throughout the entire planning process. I received emails full of inspiration and she responded in a timely manner to all of my nervous bride emails as well! Our designs were absolutely beautiful and she created a vision I didn’t even know I had. Melissa went above and beyond the day of as well when she arrived to our venue to set up the flowers on our arbor to find the chairs we’d rented (through another vendor) weren’t set up correctly or in the right place. She moved all the chairs herself so our ceremony would be perfect. I’d choose Melissa again in a heartbeat, don’t think twice, book her quick she’ll make your day magical!

Melissa was an absolute pleasure to work with. We had a small Block Island wedding and a small floral budget, but she went out of her way to work with us and meet our needs. She not only provided wonderful service (including staking 4ft vases into the ground at the very windy lighthouse & a last minute flower pedal delivery for our impromptu flower man), but her talent at creating arrangements to be exactly what you envision is unsurpassed. Stop looking for your florist here and book Melissa! From start to finish she was honest, helpful and prompt in her responses (crucial when you’re planning a wedding). The flowers were the main attraction above all decor at my Block Island wedding. The bouquets, boutonnières, centerpieces, and outrageous arbor adorned with flowers and ships wheel, all surpassed my expectations. I had my indecisive ideas and she patiently built off of them and collaborated with me until we finalized everything.
