About this vendor
Pizza By Fire is a wood fired pizza company that specializes in food truck style for private events like weddings & rehearsals. Our service is budget friendly with the look of a food truck but the speed and service of a more traditional catering company. Our catering menu includes wood fired pizza, salads, and appetizers. We have been in business since 2011 and cater over 50 wedding events each year, plus many other private events like graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, corporate events, and many others.
We still have 2024 dates available including Fridays for rehearsal/welcome dinners, and Saturdays for wedding catering. Send us an email and let us what you have in mind for the date, location, and number of people, and we will be happy to respond with availability, and catering information.

The food was great. The wood fire oven was a unique touch. The communication was good as well. Just know that trash removal was not included and they refused to clear the tables. Be sure that if you book with them for you wedding/event, you have someone else who will clear tables and remove trash. Otherwise we loved the pizza and apps!
We hired Pizza by Fire as 1 of 3 food trucks for our 110 guest wedding. They were flexible when we had to change our wedding date due to COVID. We had a Day of Coordinator who handled all the details the days leading up to the wedding, so I cannot speak to what other reviewers had left for comments about communication lacking. I always had my emails answered in a timely manner, so no complaints there! They went above and beyond. Our guest list decreased dramatically due to the Delta wave, and due to contractual obligations our final invoice reflected a previously agreed upon number (which is totally acceptable). I asked if there was a way to leave us with some leftover pizzas to make up for the 30+ people we paid for but didn’t attend, and they were so accommodating. Before they left they left a bunch of boxed up pizzas for our guests to enjoy late night. My only regret is I didn’t get to have any of the cocktail hour appetizers or get seconds on my pizza! Thanks Andrew!
Even though it was raining, the Pizza by Fire guys showed up with enthusiasm for our post-wedding brunch. Their bagels and breakfast pizzas were out of this world! Everyone raved about them and they really made the morning. I still dream of those wood-fired bagels. Professional and top notch on all accounts.
The food was phenomenal. They were communicative leading up to the wedding, on time to the event. However we thought the level of professionalism day of the event was lacking and customer service skills left something to be desired. We got the impression they wanted to just serve the food and be left alone to have their own personal conversations.
I’m not one that leaves a review let alone one poor in nature but after seeing the lack of transparency’s day inaccuracy I felt it necessary to say something in reference to a response to the previous review.
First off the quality of the food provided is not a question at all, so long as you pick the style you know you will enjoy, I am confident saying you will be satisfied with the with your meal.
As for the rest, I was very concerned when I received a call (45-60 minutes before our ceremony was suppose to begin) stating Andrew and his PBF staff were not there when he told they would be there 2-3 hours before, to set up and food prep. The fact that they were late would not have been nearly as big of an issue, if one of the many calls made to attempt to contact them had been answered. (Many calls from many people including groomsmen, bridesmaids, the coordinator, and both bride and groom). Being our wedding day most would understand the stress of not knowing how your ~100 guests are going to be fed because your caterer had not arrived. Being available at the day of, especially at that expense, is not an unreasonable request for any bride and groom both present or future. It may be our fault for not having a written time on the contract to hold them accountable but we figured they were taking notes on their end via phone 1-2 months in advance. However, it should be none of the other vendors had an issue arriving at the agreed upon time.
As for the rude attitude insinuated it could have been the fact that they seemed stressed, possibly because of the later than expected arrival time. Standing right there when the request was made there was no rude or malice tone used, it was our wedding day, the happiest day of our life thus far. Possibly, asking twice was taken as rude when we asked to have the paper plates removed, since we provided glass plates.
When it comes to the alleged comments made by other vendors I find it very unlikely due to our high satisfaction of their service and commitment to provide the best service possible. Not to mention each was separated from one another based off of our layout and stayed where their services were required.
Leaving a review is meant to be an honest review of the bride and grooms experience and constructive criticism to assist PBF, or and vendor for that matter, since they provide such a delicious product, not to fire personal shots back because of a poor review.
Again food was delicious but it was the communication is what was lacking.
We had Pizza by Fire for our wedding last weekend, they were great! We found them last year and when we got to taste their pizzas we were sold. Andrew was easy to work with; answered emails in a timely manner, and professionally.
On the day of, things went super smoothly, our guests loved the food, and they left some leftover pizzas that people enjoyed later in the evening.
Overall, highly recommended vendor for your wedding or event!
I'll start by saying that the food was excellent so if that's all you're worried about then have no fear. However, overall I felt that the entirety of the company lacked some professionalism. On our wedding day my coordinator informed me as we were approaching the ceremony time, that the caterer, Pizza by Fire, had not yet arrived. She called the number they provided me dozens of times to only receive no response. They finally showed up a couple hours past when they originally said they would be there and they simply chalked it up to "miscommunication". Why provide a number to call if you're not going to answer? When I was finally able to get some appetizers, I noticed that they had put out paper products for my guests to use, and I had rented glass. I asked the woman that was working if she could please remove them. I watched her take half of the things, and then never return for the rest, so I had to take matters into my own hands. Also, I'll warn you, their charcuterie board is nothing to boast about, I get now why it's not optional to remove because it's so cheap. ALSO, they describe it as being an assortment of meats, cheeses, and nuts however smack dab in the middle of mine was a bowl of jelly beans (?!?!?!?!). Sorry but I didn't order those and I mean, jelly beans at a freakin wedding, come on! Finally we get called up to eat and I asked the young girl behind the table if she had a pizza server to put out so I could grab some slices. She looked at me like I was just plain stupid. So I asked her a second time, to which she turns around and asks someone else and they replied with "nope just use your hands". This was something that I wish them or someone would have informed me about prior to them showing up, I would have at least provided my own. I know that at the end of the day it's just pizza, but I mean come on, that doesn't mean it can't be classy. As I mentioned before, their food was excellent but I will never consider them again for a catering event for myself.
We had Pizza by Fire cater our wedding in Lyman, ME last August. They were amazing and so self-contained that we hardly had to think about them. We'll definitely remember them though: the pizza and all of the sides were great and they were easy to work with regarding my wife's nut allergy.
We would recommend them to anyone.
Pizza by Fire catered my son’s rehearsal party of 90 people. The service, food, and “ease of use” was great! Our guests thoroughly enjoyed this highlight of the party. I would hire them back in a heartbeat! And hope I have an opportunity to do so!

My husband and I used Pizza by Fire for our rehearsal dinner at a family friend's home. The food was absolutely incredible. We loved the variety and quality of the appetizers, and our family and friends couldn't stop talking about it (even after the wedding). They did a great job with gluten free options and the display was beautiful.
From a planning perspective they were easy to communicate with, did a great job setting up and breaking down and made it easy for me throughout the process. Have recommended them and will continue to!
We hosted a brunch for 50 people outside at our home. The bagels were fantastic. Freshly baked with lots of healthy and tasty toppings. The breakfast pizzas were excellent. Andrew and his staff were personable and professional. Our guests loved it!
Pizza by Fire catered our wedding in 2017. We went for a tasting up in Portland and were sold by the first bite! They were fantastic to work with and the pizza was superb! We couldn't have asked for anything better. We even got to enjoy the leftovers the next day. Our guests are still raving about the pizza nearly two years later.
The warmth of the wood-fired oven was a welcome treat on a chilly Maine day and our friends and family enjoying chatting with the Pizza by Fire crew while choosing their toppings and staying toasty.
Andrew and his team were wonderful to work with - they were friendly, professional, organized, and checked in often leading up to the day. We were happy to find a caterer that would work with our other food/drink vendors. The crew even signed our guestbook, which was a lovely surprise! We highly recommend Pizza by Fire!!!
