Michelle Joy Photography is the best wedding photographer, hands down. She has been with me through my entire wedding process!! I can’t tell you how amazing, sweet, loving and thoughtful she is. She truly cares, she’s passionate and goes the extra mile, above and beyond what she has to do. As one of her brides, like any bride, I had no clue where to start. Up front she made it a point to not only make me feel so comfortable with what she was going to do for us during the wedding but she also gave us vendor recommendations, gave us advice on dos and don't based on her experiences and even guided us with our honeymoon! We were lucky enough to also have her husband Josh Staley as our DJ. She reassured me that she would help make things run smoothly on our wedding day as well by creating a timeline. It gave me peace of mind knowing she would be directing that and I would just let her know about the specific photos I was hoping for. It was such a JOY working with her!! Her second shooter, Tristan, also did a fabulous job! I can not say enough about this amazing woman. She even sent my husband and I Mr. and Mrs. mugs as a gift 💚 I pray that we remain close friends. I’ve come to love her as a friend and a sister in Christ! The spectacular photos that she shoots are a mere bonus to go with her heart and soul she brings to the table. She also shot our engagement photos. Half were at the Orchard House in Granville, the other half were at the Ohio Stadium. GO BUCKS! She made it a fun and enjoyable shoot for both myself and my husband. Even though guys aren’t always keen on photos, she made him feel comfortable and made us both laugh and enjoy each other and the time as well! She was flexible and accommodating. Michelle did an amazing job with our photography before, during, and after the wedding. She first got to know us and made us comfortable during an engagement shoot. Over the following months, she helped us plan out our big day by establishing several timelines and ensuring that we got every single family photo we wanted. Michelle was AMAZING to work with! When we first met with her, my father had had a heart attack & open heart surgery the week prior - she was so kind and compassionate about the situation and I knew she would be the best person to work with from then on. She was fun, professional, and did her best to make you feel special. My earring back fell out before the ceremony and she took out her earrings to give me her backs. If you are looking for a photographer that delivers beautiful wedding pictures, your search is over. I looked and emailed for so long. I happened to come across Michelle’s link on her husband’s DJ website (Josh Staley Productions). I clicked on it and in 1 second, I knew I was done searching! What a relief! Her pricing is affordable and the quality is outstanding. The pictures are just half of it. Michelle herself is a joy to work with. She will meet with you anywhere, anytime (go for Starbucks, she loves her iced coffee!). We met at Starbucks and she spent so much time going over everything and helping with the timeline. She meets every deadline and delivers a finished product. I don’t know how she does it, but she can tell like down to the minute when it will and won’t rain. She knows exactly where the best lighting is. She is such a professional, but with such a down to earth vibe. Posed picture taking is super awkward to us, but Michelle made it fun. Even my husband felt fine after the engagement photo session, and that is saying a lot! She is also awesome when it comes to getting the attention of a bridal party. Between the excitement of the day and little ones running around, she is able to get command of everyone so that the pictures go super quick. She’s very organized when it comes to the family photos. We worked on preparing a list a head of time so that on the day of our ceremony, we just went down the list and got them all. We didn’t have to waste time thinking who did we forget? And did we already do that group? Again, a breeze. We had our ceremony a month before the reception and Michelle kindly traveled about 2 hours to do both events. I will always be so grateful for that. We also hired her husband as our DJ. If you are looking for both a photographer and a DJ, I suggest hiring them both. They work so well together and they are so in sync with the events of the day/evening. When my husband and I first met Michelle, we knew we HAD to have her as our photographer! From our engagement session to the wedding day, she was nothing short of wonderful! She walked us through every pose and made us feel so comfortable! She never hesitated to answer any questions, no matter how simple, and always got back to us quickly! Michelle was worth every penny we spent on her and so much more! From the planning process, to the engagement photos, to the actual wedding day, Michelle was everything you could dream of in a wedding photographer. Her photos were complete in a prompt and timely manner, for both the engagement and wedding. She also had a fun blog post about the engagement and wedding which was so much fun to read and share. Michelle does an incredible job making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. My husband and I are not always comfortable in front of cameras and I am serious when I say you can't tell this from our wedding pictures at all! I also can't say enough about her actual skill of taking pictures, I have literally never seen wedding pictures more gorgeous. They are bright and fun, have both personality and love in them, and captured every part of our day. She also brings a second shooter so no detail goes missed or unnoticed. They were both so dedicated, and I mean "jumping in the snow in little flats to get a good picture" dedicated. And lastly, the amount of pictures that they took for our wedding is more than I could even imagine getting. I don't even know how many there are because I can't count them all! And, Michelle uploads them neatly onto a website that's easy to download from and find what you're looking for. I cannot recommend Michelle highly enough, and I know you will not regret hiring her for your big day!

I highly recommend choosing Michelle as your photographer. She is absolutely wonderful and extremely sweet! I am so happy we chose her to photograph our wedding. At our first meeting, she was super nice and patient with us as we were pretty clueless about wedding photography and what we wanted. My husband and I are pretty camera shy, but for both our engagement session and our wedding day, she was great and really helped us feel at ease. I also love that she doesn't get just posed photos, but she also captures candid moments of us laughing and interacting in between poses. Michelle is very knowledgeable about weddings and is a great resource, as well. During one of our later meetings, she was very helpful with refining our final wedding day timeline to avoid any awkward down time. On the day of our wedding, she and her second shot, Stephanie, were absolutely wonderful and did an absolutely phenomenal job!

Michelle was amazing from day one! On our wedding day it was quite cold and she braved the cold with the rest of us and did multiple photo sessions outside. Her second shooter was amazing as well and really helped shoot the little details like me getting dressed. They both stayed a few more minutes than they originally planned to capture a special dance. By the next day we had a sneak peak of our photos. Michelle does a great job capturing natural lighting and does not over edit. She truly was one of the factors that made my wedding day amazing!

Our experience with Michelle Joy photography was nothing short of amazing. We actually chose to have Michelle photograph our wedding before we got engaged, and I am so glad we did. Planning a wedding is such a stressful time, with all the planning and moving, and it was so nice to be able to take our minds off this one thing. From the very beginning, Michelle made us feel special, and she was so calm. The day of our engagement pictures, my outfit was stolen, sending me into a panic. We got married downtown Dayton, which is certainly not the most idealistic location for pictures, yet all our photography looked wonderful and elegant. When I look at my wedding pictures, all I can see is the joy we felt on one of the most important days of our lives. I am so thankful we hired Michelle, and I would recommend her to anyone.

The act of getting married has enough stressors on its own, so the last thing you want is to be worried about your photographer. Thinking "Do I look ok?" or " Does that angle make me look fat?" Instead, trusting in Michelle is best. My best friend did my hair and makeup the afternoon of our wedding and Michelle was there to capture it all. They are my favorite photos because they are so natural and beautiful. She took the most amazing pictures of my dress and rings and even captured me getting dressed with my mom at my side. Best part of the day....while everyone was looking at me walk down the aisle, Michelle was able to capture a picture of Eric, watching me as well. That photo can never be replaced! There was not one thing she missed all while being a friendly familar face behind the camera to me. Since we had practiced poses at our engagement photos session, I was relaxed and calm as she photographed us. She truly made me feel and look beautiful! She was just as much part of our family than anyone. Best decision I ever made!

I found Michelle Joy while looking for vendors on the Knot. I was pretty clueless about what to look for in a photographer, but finding Michelle was seriously the best thing that happened to us during the wedding planning process. I've literally said it several times... how thankful I am to have found her. She is AMAZING at what she does. Just trust me. We are very happy to have found Michelle to photograph our two life events! We happened to find Michelle while searching for a DJ; she is married to one (see Josh Staley Productions). Eventually, we used them both with wonderful results. Both our engagement session and the wedding ceremony/reception, now have a wonderful, photographic record thanks to her skills, professionalism, and ability to "see ahead" for making the perfect shots. Being the groom, I was not as focused on the many details that Michelle captured (rings, dresses, flowers, shoes, perfume, etc.). However, I greatly appreciated how she well worked with us and for us. She showed sensitivity and great skill in capturing the people, emotions, and the momentum of the events. My wife-to-be, Kelly, was quite anxious before our engagement session. At the end of the session, Kelly was completely relaxed and enjoying herself. This was entirely due to Michelle's professional handling of the shoot, her calm, positive attitude, and great people skills that allowed us feel totally at ease and involved in a very, happy experience. Michelle did the same at the wedding. She worked effectively in the midst of a big celebration. She fit into the movement without hindering the flow...and gave us fantastic results! We are very pleased to recommend her for weddings and other family/life events where the person, their services, and visual results are all critical!
