We 'found' Richard at a bridal fair in center city Philadelphia. He did not have a spit and polish, 'dog and pony show' type of display and presentation. He was selling himself and his services, confident but low key. We agreed to meet him a...t a later date based strictly on our first impression of him. After having met with several other photographers, we had a good idea of what we liked. After our one-on-one meeting, and seeing his full portfolio of photographs, we were convinced he was everything we first thought. Our instincts were dead on target. Richard proved to be a highly artistic photogrpaher, with a keen eye for capturing the 'right' shot. We also warmed up to his sense of humor -- he was very easy to talk to. He included an engagement shoot as part of his package, which gave us a terrific opportunity to assess his skills even further. I am a very full figured woman, older, who does not like herself very much in photographs. Upon seeing the engagement shoot photos, I asked him to edit several (via Photoshop) to downplay what I thought were less desirable features. He did absolutely everything I asked and suggested. This proved to be a terrific training period for him as well, because I can honestly say, there is not one wedding photo that I wanted retouched or edited. And considering he provided us with 1,800 shots, that is quite a compliment. The assistant he used for our wedding also turned out to be an extremely competent photographer. In reviewing;Richard's business has picked up even since we first met him in January '07. He still handles all his own correspondence and scheduling of meetings (which are generally in coffee shops, etc., as he does not have a private studio). He's very diligent about returning e-mails, but occasionally they get lost in cyberspace, so just follow up with a reminder in a day or two if you don't hear from him within 24 hours. This is not a negative remark against him, just a comment in general about making arrangements via e-mail.
