I truly wish I could leave a 5 star review, but my experience was far from excellent.
My fiancé went to Sarah O back in December and started a custom ring process, wanting to make sure my ring was unlike anyone else’s. He told them I had a fe...w key things in mind and then left it up to the “professionals” to come up with a design. I wanted a ring that was stackable, as most do these days, and what they designed for him is not. They did not convey that it would be difficult to stack anything with this ring, or that platinum dulls within a month and is expensive to polish, and that it is a soft metal so it can’t be a thin, delicate band like I would have liked. They also did not mention that real diamonds would be the same price as moissanite when in such a small size for the side (which you can barely see given the prongs are so big). The “custom” design took weeks which is odd since the setting is the same as another ring in their store… not much custom about that besides my center stone being a gemstone. I’m not sure why it took so long to come up with a sketch if nothing new was needed?
On top of that, the wedding band they made to go with it was also not quality checked before giving it to us and was not symmetrical so I had to give that back when getting the rings resized. They had the ring for over a month, then when I went in to discuss my issues with my engagement ring, told me they called my fiancé to say the band was remade but not made in the right size! They then had to send it off AGAIN to be resized. Weirdest thing, my fiancé had no call from them…
Then, when I spoke to the manager about my engagement ring not fitting my list of must haves, she vaguely told me we would “figure it out” and that I had to come back with my fiancé. She told us for another large sum of money we could have it reset and was not sympathetic. Saying since he signed off on it, it was our problem and not theirs, though like I said, he was not advised on how it didn’t check off all the boxes on my list. It felt like she just wanted us to leave. Which is not unlike how it usually feels walking in there… not many friendly faces. She told us she’d give us a minute to think about it and then disappeared for 10 minutes. Once we tracked her down we told her we would be going to jewelfire instead where they have actual jewelers who are knowledgeable about these things and happy to see us when we walk in. Not to mention way better quality.
We have been waiting for the customer service team to reach out to us, but they must be busy talking to other unhappy customers…
I’m so saddened that what was supposed to be my most prized possession is now needing to be completely redone and they don’t even seem to care. If only they listened and actually advised my fiancé in the first place… or had a better solution when I was in tears about not liking my ring. Needless to say, we will not be back.
