We used Savannah Riverboat Cruises for our Welcome Event for our wedding weekend. We had a table of ~25. Not being the main event of the weekend, I need something easy and I wanted something that really vibed "Classic Savannah".
Savannah Riverboat Cruises, specifically Rebekah, delivered across the board. The pricing and booking were straightforward. I did not have a large number of choices to make and everything I had to do was easy.
My guests enjoyed the cruise. The food was good (not easy to do on a boat!) and there were options for everyone. The sunset was nice and the views were decent. A very relaxed environment where everyone is there to have a good time. The length of time was perfect.
I have taken off one star for 2 reasons. Neither of them should be deal breakers for you but are something you might want to think through in advance. The first is that most of our guests had finished dinner before the boat pulled away from River Street. For a "dinner cruise" there was something of a question of "what now". Learning: do not feel obligated to board right when boarding starts.
The second was that the waitstaff had very little plan for how to split up the drink bill between 25 guests. I was told at the end they would call out the drinks and split up the bill, rather than make separate checks as they went along. This works fine for 6 people, but not for a large group. Particularly, when that group is scattered all over the boat because they finished dinner early.
We enjoyed our cruise and would recommend it for a casual event or a date night.
The staff at SRC is absolutely amazing. They made choosing our reception options very simple and there were no surprises from when we got our first contract to what we received our final balance due. The food was absolutely amazing (Savannah On My Mind buffet option) and the staff was wonderful. My ONLY complaint is that the employees who take the boarding photos outside went around to each of my guests during dinner to see if they wanted to buy the photos as souvenir. We specifically chose not to add that option as an upgrade to our reception package and it came across as tacky to have my guests solicited during a wedding reception. Other than that, everything was amazing!
We had our wedding reception on the Savannah Riverboat and it was phenomenal. Bailee and the staff did such a good job coordinating everything seamlessly, making my vision come to live and hosting our guests. Event though we had a day-time wedding, the DJ and staff still made it into a fun party. The food was also very delicious. We got so many comments from our guests about how good the food was and how much fun they had at our wedding. Thank you Bailee and everyone at Savannah Riverboat Cruises!
Any questions?
Bailee and the crew of the riverboat were professional and helpful! I did not have a planner of my own, but Bailee was available for on-site assistance, last-minute phone calls, and inquiry emails and responded quickly with some of the most helpful advice. Her assistance could be described as 'above and beyond' and she helped my day run smoothly. I heard amazing reviews about our food and music from our guests. The DJ even took some requests from guests to help placate all ages! The schedule of events was well-coordinated, which allowed my husband and me time to eat and speak with all my beloved guests. The guests even enjoyed the other decks for the view of the river while the boat was traveling to the nearby fort. The forecast for our wedding day was 90% rain, and Bailee was kind enough to create a back-up plan on the boat in case our outside ceremony could not come to fruition. I would recommend the riverboat reception to any bride and groom searching for a unique venue option at a reasonable price to please guests of ALL ages. This place is sure to impress!
We had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner on board the Georgia Queen. We met with Bailee our coordinator, to plan the evening. We were able to view the VIP Suite and discuss the menu. The food turned out amazing. The room was set up so nicely. It was the best decision we made. The staff was very attentive and professional. We were able to enjoy the evening without having to worry about any details. It was all taken care of. It could not have turned out any better. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone considering.
We had our wedding reception aboard the Savannah River Queen. It should have been obvious they would be a let down when the wedding coordinator would not make any exceptions to meet with us outside her normal Monday-Friday 9-5 schedule when other venues were offering hours at our convenience, but I didn't listen to my gut. We spoke to the bar manager about the beer selection and clearly stated having a craft beer selection was a make or break amenity for us. We were told of we let him know we could have whatever we like as part of the selection with our open bar no problem. The menu was set, the contract was signed. As instructed, 4 weeks prior I provided the beer list to the wedding coordinator. After several "so sorry for the delay" emails, I was given a price quote for purchasing the beer less than 2 weeks prior to the wedding. We were quoted 8x what we were paying for the same beer at our cocktail hour and we were not allowed to take or return unused portions. After some negotiations I talked them down to $8 per beer, still outrageous considering we were assured it would be part of our open bar. The menu was to be completely gluten free due to Celiac disease prevalence in my family. Regular rolls were served alongside making some sick and others go without entirely due to lack of signage or servers to explain which items were safe. The DJ was terrible. He played covers of almost every song we requested and repeated several songs we didn't request. He did not lead any line dances as we had requested. We could have put an iPod on shuffle and been more satisfied. The most disappointing fact was realizing these people are simply sneaky crooks- our original contract we were to have 2 gluten free cheesecakes served. I pointed out we would have a cake and probably wouldn't need them and Bailee, their wedding coordinator, told me some people don't like wedding cake so they include this as another option. On our final contract, which was emailed to me days before the wedding as a receipt, she intentionally omitted the cheesecakes from the 8 point font summary of the menu on page 2. I, of course, missed this and so we didn't revive the cheesecakes. Also, they don't tell you if you would like the additional 2 hours of cruising they charge you for a minimum of 75 people, not per guest as they will tell you at your initial meeting. When I attempted to address my concerns a few days after the wedding I was met with a response of too bad, so sad. Be careful if you use this company, they WILL cheat you and wait until you're super stressed with last minute details to change things that are out of your control. Document everything because they'll say anything to get that initial contract. Finalize everything prior to the 45 day cancellation if possible.
I just had my wedding on Sept 27 on the boat. All I can say is that they exceeded my expectations on having a memorable & wonderful wedding day/night!!! I keep getting compliments from friends & family that it was one of the best weddings they have been to! Everything from Anna coordinating the venue, the captain giving a beautiful ceremony, great music, great food, great drinks, & great staff will allow me & my husband to always remember our special day!!!
We had a great time after our wedding. The ride was nice. Didn't have to worry about purchasing tickets in advance.
