Did a fantastic job with my wedding dress. They came recommended from the bridal shop, BB Bridal. Answered all my questions, took in the waist, shoulders, sleeves and hemmed it per...
fectly for my shoes that go from heels to flats. They were very patient with my future MIL's questions about the bustle and let her take all of the photos. Highly recommend going here for all your wedding dress needs.
Pros:
-Got the alterations done within 2-3 weeks.
Cons:
-The people who work there were awkward and made me and my mom feel uncomfortable both times we were there.
-They measured...
incorrectly, so after alterations my dress was still too long come the day of my wedding. I was planning to wear flats, but thank goodness I brought heels for my honeymoon and had them with me at the venue, because the dress was a good 3 inches too long still and I would have tripped down the aisle if I hadn't had those spare shoes.
-One of the spaghetti straps on my dress snapped off. Thankfully it didn't happen until near the end of the evening, but easily could have snapped off earlier and ruined the day. Are you kidding me?
-Pretty expensive.
Basically, don't go here.
My daughter used SewBoise for her wedding dress alterations. She didn't need a whole lot done - the waist needed to be just slightly more snug, the spaghetti straps of the dress ne...
eded shortened, and the length needed shortened quite a bit. I would give this business one star, but they did have the alterations done in the timeframe that they promised, and the pricing was competitive. However, I mentioned at both the initial appointment and the second fitting that I thought the dress was not short enough, and my comments were brushed off completely. Also, at the final fitting, the strap on one side was twisted and she had to fix it while we waited. Fast forward to the wedding day: the dress was too long; enough so that my daughter could not walk without stepping on it. Had she not brought along her honeymoon bag that happened to have heels in it, she would have actually had to hold her dress up to walk down the aisle. At the end of the evening, when she got into the car to leave the reception, that strap that was a problem before snapped off!! What if that had happened during the ceremony or reception?! Thank heavens it "waited" until she got into her farewell vehicle. On a side note, both appointments just felt awkward; I can't explain it, but the vibe was just off. I would not use SewBoise again.
I am extremely disappointed in the service that I received at Sew Boise. I took a bridesmaid’s dress in and needed to have the hemline shortened by about 3 inches. When I returned ...
a week later to try it on, I immediately noticed how terrible the stitching was on the dress. The stitching on the outside of the dress was uneven, coming out, and skipping stitches in several places. The stitching on the slip cover inside was white and didn’t match the color of the dress, and again was uneven, coming out, and skipping stitches in several places. I spoke to the employee who altered the dress and she was not even remotely apologetic about the situation and instead simply stated “Oh well, that’s just how the fabric of the dress is.” Although the owner was present, they would not even come speak to me about the situation and instead told the employee that they could try to re-sew it. The owner didn’t offer me any sort of discount and wouldn’t come out and apologize to me in person about the situation. I will never come back to Sew Boise, or recommend this store to anyone. I basically paid $75 to have a dress mangled. If you don’t want an expensive formal dress to be ruined, DON’T COME HERE.
