Shimmer & Stain did our wedding invitations and day of signs such as seating chart, menus, bar menu and more. Their inquiry and booking process was very easy, clear and organized. Diane was great with communication and very quick to respond to my emails. Courtnee was the one who handled all the designs and she absolutely blew me away!!! I love her process and how detailed her mockups are. It was very easy to communicate any changes and she was happy to make adjustments. My guests were blown away with the invitations (so many people called to rave about them!) and even more were in awe of the seating chart. I would recommend Shimmer and Stain 100 times over! Such a great company!
Courtnee does beautiful work, there is no question about that. However, I would never recommend working with Shimmer and Stain purely because of the horrific way they treat their customers. She's so mean!
As somebody with a tenured career in sales, I'm super cognizant of the way to respectfully treat a client. The Shimmer and Stain team consistently left me (the bride) off of email threads, and subsequently would reply in a defensive manner when I'd follow up on pending tasks or items.
Courtnee was cold, and would push back on all creative suggestions made by me (the paying customer). Working with her was a constant battle, which is such a shame. I had to ask for mock ups. I had to ask for samples. Nothing about working with Courtnee or Diane was simple or seamless and I had to do a LOT of leg work on my own. Towards the end of our journey together, I would mentally prepare myself for them to tell me "no" whenever I asked a question. Being a bride comes with plenty of stress and financial responsibility. Working with a vendor like Shimmer and Stain only amplifies that stress.
My recommendation to the Shimmer team is to onboard someone who is better with clients. Let the designer design, as clearly that's where her strengths lie. They should onboard an SPOC who is pleasant to work with and can provide positive support when a customer is going through the planning process. Manners matter, I hope that the team treats other brides (and their families) better than they treated me, and mine.
Delivery was another nightmare. A pickup date was never discussed for my items and the Shinmer team proceeded to tell me that my honeymoon was “too long” after my wedding. I guess celebrating my marriage with a 2 week trip was a major I convenience to the Shimmer team.
Never again.
When first meeting with our wedding planner, Hannah, the first thing I said was part of our wedding vision was a beautiful Jam Wall installation that I had seen on Park Winters Instagram profile, and reposted by the Knot. I quickly learned that this stunning, conversation piece installation was created by Courtnee at Shimmer and Stain! We booked her immediately! Courtnee oversaw so many elements of our wedding, including signage for our petal bar, audio guestbook, and bar, stunning name placards and table numbers, and of course, the pièce de résistance, the jam wall! By far the number one thing our guests talked about following the wedding was the jam wall! Not only was the jam delish, but people thoroughly enjoyed looking for their name on the wall. It was a stunning focal and gathering point in our cocktail hour that naturally allowed people to gravitate to it. Thank you Courtnee and Shimmer and Stain for making our wedding so beautiful!
Terrible company to do business with. Found some stunning table numbers a client of mine was in love with so I found out they came from this company and reached out and asked for them to recreate them. They gave me a price that was high but for the quality I had seen it would be worth it. When the order got to me. More than half were broken. They used cheap wood instead of quality wood or metal to make the stands. It was glued together. Some were missing the numbers on the actual acrylic piece. Some were missing spray paint that they used. They charged be 700.00 for table numbers that are shameful and terrible quality. Agreed to give me a refund and now for months will not answer my calls or emails. Luckily I've recorded this whole process and will be following through with legal to get my money back as well as reporting them! Save your money and find someone else.... so sad.
Shimmer and Stain was great to work with.
In particular, they created a GORGEOUS and GIGANTIC bookshelf seating chart for us that no one could stop talking about. It was magnificent.
Highly recommend working with them if you want unique pieces created specifically for you and your particular wedding nuances.
Courtnee was recommended to us through our wedding planner (Angelica at Porta Bella Events in Sacramento). Her work is stunning! She did menus, bar signs, welcome signs, and seating charts for us. Loved them all would definitely recommend.
Courtnee did a fabulous job with our 2022 wedding invitations and day-of stationary! She totally captured our vision and made it super cool with a lot of 3D elements. Her work is beautiful!
Her work looks beautiful but I had a scheduled call with her that she never joined, and have yet to hear back from her two days later. I see her posting away on instagram though so seems like it wasn't related to an emergency or something that makes sense for completely ghosting on a potential client. Just completely rude and poor business practice.
Courtnee and her team did a beautiful job for my wedding! She is very trendy and talented with her work. She is also super creative and brought new ideas to the table when I was having trouble. She is also extremely quick to respond with very detailed and thoughtful responses in every email. I think she typically works with a few top wedding planners in the Northern California area, but I worked with her on my own as my "planner" was more of a venue operator and only worked with my caterer, photographer and DJ. Courtnee did my guest book and gifts signs, seating chart, bar signs and invitations. They looked amazing and beautiful. The invitations she made were stunning as well as she made custom liners that my guests raved about. My only complaint is the invitation experience was a bit of a disappointment because they were extremely late and my "details" card was dark brown font (instead of white) on brown paper so it was tough for people to read. Late as in they were sent literally a week before the RSVP deadline date so I had RSVPs coming in late. She mentioned that the issue came from her paper lady being pregnant and having issues. If this is the issue I would recommend she work with someone else for paper sourcing. Invitations are an area Courtnee mentioned she hadn't had as much experience in from the beginning so she was willing to give me a discount and this is why I went with her. I suspected maybe since I was a one-off bride rather than someone working with a wedding planner that maybe my projects weren't as prioritized? Nonetheless I am pleased with her work as it is unique and gorgeous and everything else was delivered as expected. 2020 and 2021 were a rough year too so I can appreciate her working with me through it all. :)
We highly recommend shimmer and stain for your special day! Courtnee did such an amazing job designing everything from the menu designs to the welcome and bar signs. Everything she designed was stunning and added such a special touch to our day!
The signs at my wedding looked beautiful!
