Everything about Silver Hearth Lodge is perfect and magical. We got married there just recently on October 21, 2023. SHL is LGBTQ-friendly, and are working to change the language around their venue from just “bride and groom” to some other options for labeling spaces :) The venue itself is beautiful and decorated in a way that you could do nothing additional and still have a gorgeous wedding. The views from the top of the mountain are stunning! Bob, and his wife Ashley, are wonderful people who become like family with how invested they are in making your day and celebration exactly what you want. Bob has a level of attention to detail that helps the planning process go so smoothly that the week of our wedding we weren’t stressed at all and had an answer for everything! I loved that while we could bring in any vendor we wanted, Bob can recommend vendors that have been personally vetted by him so that you know they are top-notch.

All we can say is WOW! Silver Hearth Lodge is a top notch wedding venue. Bob and his staff at SHL have thought of everything and then some that goes into a perfect wedding. From a lengthy list of highly recommended vendors all the way to the wedding consultants event guide, Bob helps ensure you have everything you need to have a perfect wedding! We cannot say enough good things about SHL to even do this place justice. The videos and pictures are beautiful, but to see it in person is breathtaking! We highly recommend this venue and will continue to do so every chance we can. We are so thankful and blessed to have had our ceremony and reception here and our guests were absolutely amazed with the views and the small details that make SHL so warm and inviting!

This venue is beautiful and the manager, Bob, is fantastic!! He is so helpful and truly thinks of everything to help with the wedding. We wanted to have our dogs at our wedding and I don’t think we could have found a more accommodating venue for our pups! They were allowed inside and outside and were allowed to be off leash and Bob has dog treats that we could give to them too. Truly a magical venue that I would recommend to anyone!

It is a beautiful venue and wonderful owners as well. Bob and his wife are accommodating and present throughout the day. As a wedding photographer working at this venue Bob made sure we had everything we needed.

My beautiful wife and I were married at Silver Hearth Lodge on June 24, 2023. We could not have asked better venue. The scenery is top tier, and the rustic mixed with modern in the main lodge and the outdoor areas fit any theme of a wedding! The staff are always ready to help and have made the entire venue look so beautiful for our wedding day! Bob, the owner of Silver Hearth Lodge, really cares about his brides and grooms. He is thorough and creates detailed lists and meetings to make sure that your big day goes by as smooth and as close to your vision as possible! There is so much to do for all of the guests, including corn hole, a swing set, wind chime area, a playground, an overlook pavilion, and even a kennel for pets! If you choose to get married here, you will not regret it!

SHL and team were so incredible to work with!! The venue is absolutely breathtaking and unique in so many ways. From the beautiful mountain overlook, to the stunning Iron Dome ceremony area, this venue truly could not be more gorgeous. Another incredible perk of SHL is the Vista View Hall is how it is already tastefully decorated! We were able to save some money from our "decor" budget because there was little besides centerpieces we felt we needed to make the space beautiful - it already is! In addition to the STUNNING venue - Bob and Ashley are incredible to work with! Bob has truly thought through every single detail that a couple could need when it comes to planning. His extensive planning guide is so helpful to ensure that everything is thought out. I have bragged about SHL since I laid my eyes on it for the first time, and will continue to do so! I would HIGHLY recommend SHL to anyone looking for their dream wedding venue!

I cannot recommend Silver Hearth highly enough! We looked at numerous venues in the Blue Ridge Mountains and not only did this venue have the most spectacular view (it is situated on the highest point of Bent Mountain) but it was by far the most unique and accommodating venue we found. The owner refers to it as a "wedding campus" and that is a good description since you are not just getting one event space, you are getting an entire property full of different spaces and options to let you truly customize your wedding. Our guests told us it was by far the most fun and enjoyable wedding they went to because there was so much to see and do on the property, and no one wanted to leave when it was over! The owner is incredibly detailed oriented and was immensely helpful in walking us through the whole process and creating a plan so that when the wedding day came, he and his team made sure the entire thing went off seamlessly. He has put so much into creating the perfect wedding setting that all we had to do was add a personal touches, as opposed to many venues where you have to bring in all your own decorations and spend hours setting up and breaking down. Everything was so well taken care of that my husband and I were actually free to enjoy the wedding and spend time with our guests rather then running around. The venue was wonderful. The pictures do not do it justice. We wanted God’s country on the side of a mountain, and this was it. Our family travelled in for our wedding (we are local to the area), and Bob had vendor lists and points of contact for everything imaginable. Hotels, golf carts (which I highly recommend- we rented for our fathers, but the kids had a blast on them), catering, etc. I mean EVERYTHING. We spent maybe $100 in decorations and flowers, because truly, we didn’t need to. This place is already set in that regard. We had our two dogs with us at the venue all day (they have kennels, but Bobs wife met them and they ended up at her side getting loved on all night), and that just made it more perfect. Bob is up front about costs so there were no surprises, and you can count on him for pulling rabbits out of his hat in a pinch when you last minute need or think of something. We really, really loved our day. A lot of paperwork to read that Bob sends as you go...read it all, no skimming..or you’ll end up asking questions that you already have the answer to. I’m guilty of that. Couldn’t have imagined a more perfect venue for far more reasons than I listed. My family thought the same, and the kids had a blast. Married couples-plan to rent the bridal suite or cabin for the night after your wedding. Trust me you’ll be so glad you did.

The moment I arrived at Silver Hearth Lodge, I was embraced with a warm hug and an even warmer blanket. One of the SHL staff members literally offered me a blanket to wrap around me while my fiancé and I took our crisp fall morning tour with Bob Johnston, the SHL owner. Prior to our visit, my fiancé and I had been researching venues throughout Virginia and nothing seemed to be “The Location.” We came across Silver Hearth Lodge and watched the video that was provided on their website. After watching the video of how SHL came to be, we felt we were one step closer to finding our venue and scheduled a tour. The video and pictures on their site are great; however, even they cannot do the property justice. Silver Hearth Lodge seems like a place straight out of a fairytale. After our tour, we knew this was “The Location”. The property offers several different ceremony locations; like The Smallest Chapel if you desire a religiously adjacent setting, or the Iron Gazebo, which we ended up choosing. No matter which location you end up selecting, you will have the majestic mountains as your backdrop. Bob not only helped with booking the venue for our wedding date, but also had recommendations of vendors that we would need for our wedding. He provided recommendations for caterers, florists, wedding planners/day-of coordinators, DJs, hotel group block. You name it, he seemed to know of someone. He even advised that if we had any trouble with anything to reach out to him. I literally gave him the honorary name of my “Fairy Bob-Mother.” We also appreciated that Silver Hearth Lodge offered an inclement weather plan, and that it only takes about 3 minutes to convert to the indoor version. Additionally, the venue offered both a Bridal Suite as well as a Groom’s Cabin, which can be used for the wedding party to get ready in. You could utilize this space for hair and makeup styling, however, I ended up opting to have hair and makeup offsite at the salon (GlamHouse Day Spa) and just had the bridal party change into their dresses once we arrived on location. Within the Bridal Suite, we fit 12 people (bride, 5 bridesmaids, mother of the bride, 2 flower girls and their mothers, and our day-of coordinator), however it was a little snug. There was room for our party, however if you have a larger group, I recommend doing hair/makeup off-site and just using the Bridal Suite for final touches and relaxing. Silver Hearth Lodge truly made our wedding day perfect on May 14, 2022. If you’re looking for your fairytale location, look no further than Silver Hearth Lodge.

Silver Hearth Lodge is a beautiful wedding venue with Mountain Views. My husband Andrew and I were supposed to get married there back in October 2020, but due to Covid-19 and military regulations over us we were unable to host an in person wedding. Due to the contract we were unable to get all our money refunded, but we found a suitable compromise with the venue. Even during hard times Bob was able to work with us. Silver Hearth Lodge is hands down the best! The venue was absolutely gorgeous and it is constantly being upgraded! So many places for guests to congregate and admire the beautiful mountain top views. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how perfect everything was. Not only is the site absolutely gorgeous, but Bob and his staff are AMAZING! Bob will work with you to make sure every little aspect of your day is perfect. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, and genuinely wants to make sure that your big day is even better than you dreamed it could be. When we got married at SHL we were treated like part of the family. We can't wait to go back and visit on our anniversary.

We had our wedding at Silver Hearth Lodge on September 26th, 2021, and I don’t think it could have been more perfect! Bob has an eye for detail and he made sure everything went according to plan. We got so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was, everyone had a great time, and it was easy to space people out to make it more Covid friendly. Prices are very reasonable, and the planning sessions with Bob were very helpful. I’m so glad we decided to get married here. I’d recommend Silver Hearth Lodge to anyone interested in a rustic, mountaintop wedding!

This venue is beautiful from the well maintained grounds to the moss covered rocks to the expansive view of the rolling mountains. Bob, the owner, seeks to meet any desires you might have for your wedding day. While he can be a bit old fashioned about paperwork and communication style, he is almost always quick to respond to calls or emails. He has done so much to make the venue as accommodating and meaningful in thoughtful and specific ways. We found so many gorgeous photography spots around the grounds, enjoyed a wonderful bonfire. Bob allowed us to do a potluck style menu, which few to no other venues allowed for but really made our wedding feel homey and communal just as we hoped!

Wow, what an amazing venue! Silver Hearth is has breath taking views and has a lot to offer for guests. We saved so much money on decorations, flowers, and amusement because Silver Hearth is naturally decorated and provides a huge fireplace for s’mores, horse shoes, corn hole, rocking chairs, playground and dog kennel ! (And so much more) . Bob was very easy and pleasant to work with, and his soon to be wife, Ashley, was extremely helpful.

The Silver Hearth Lodge was perfect for our big day! The attention to detail that the staff takes time to put in is immaculate from having extra bobby pins in the bridal suite for the girls, to a pair of binoculars in the men’s cabin to look out over the mountain from the window. The venue is gorgeous and holds its own, so minimal decoration and setup were required, as well as clean up being super quick and easy. Bob was extremely helpful and genuine throughout our entire experience. We are truly thankful and grateful for the opportunity to have had our wedding here!

Bob is arguably the best wedding vendor in the state!! From discovering Silver Hearth Lodge , to the day of our wedding, the entire process was made seamless due to Bob and his staff. If you're looking for a rustic-styled venue overlooking the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, then Silver Hearth Lodge is your place! The staff there are very easy going and will strive to make your special day perfect. The venue is very COVID-friendly with it's spaced out property layout and accommodating features.

September 6th, 2020 - a fairytale of a day on top of Bent Mountain at the most beautiful wedding venue my (now) husband and I have ever seen!! The moment we arrived at Silver Hearth Lodge to tour the property for our upcoming wedding, our decision was made. There is no where more beautiful in Virginia for a rustic, nature filled, scenic mountain top wedding! Bob is the man with a plan.. if you have any questions about what to do to plan your wedding, he has the answers! This was really helpful as we did not use a wedding planner and the guides he provided to us helped us get everything completed. Almost every single one of our 100 guests commented on how stunning and perfect the venue was - many venues are beautiful on the inside, but you can’t get the overlook view anywhere else. We were on a tight budget, SHL is affordable and you can pick your own venders to boot. The staff at SHL are so polite and supportive and almost as excited for your big day as you are, each of them helped make our day perfect. Ashley was the ultimate bartender and made sure everyone had a great time; I can’t count the number of guests who had sweet things to say about her. When our wedding day was done, you could say the sky lit up with fireworks! If you want a dream wedding come true, look no further than Silver Hearth Lodge (the advice of a very happy Silver Hearth Bride).

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of having our wedding at Silver Hearth Lodge. While it was only the second wedding venue we looked at, after about 10 minutes there and the amazing view, we were completely sold and knew we needed to have our wedding there. Throughout the wedding planning process the venue owner Bob helped me out so much from answering random questions I had, to recommendations and also letting me visit the venue a few times to make sure my vision was perfect. Silver Hearth truly has everything a bride could think of for their special day and Bob helped us create our perfect wedding. I can’t even express how thankful I am to have had his guidance with planning our wedding. Wow. Just wow! My husband and I just got married this past weekend and what an incredible experience. We toured a handful of venues before going up the mountain to Silver Hearth Lodge, and we instantly fell in love and knew that this was the place for us. Bob is absolutely amazing and he went above and beyond our expectations. He made sure our day was magical and we didn’t have to worry about a thing other than just enjoying each other. Bobs staff at SHL are incredible beyond words. They are so friendly and pay such close attention to details. We have never felt more important or special. We were honored to be able to get married at SHL!

This is the best venue in the Blacksburg-Roanoke area. Bob is the owner/operator and he makes you feel like yours is the only wedding that he’s got in the works even though they book up very quickly. He was helpful from the time we went up to scout the venue to the day of when he was on hand all day long to help make sure things run smoothly. Everything price-wise was transparent and informed up front and there was no hiding anything. The venue is spectacularly gorgeous, and the staff are all pros who know their stuff. If you want a beautiful, smooth wedding day, this is the venue to check out!

This is the most beautiful venue I have ever seen! I have been to many weddings and wanted the best venue for my own. I am so glad I went with this one! All of my guests were BLOWN AWAY with how beautiful this place is inside and out. My husband’s (eek!) father and aunt are a duo that caters and plans weddings in Connecticut and even they LOVED the place, which is saying something! The Mountain View’s were in the background for most of our photos which just made everything top notch! It truly has everything and Bob, the owner, is great to work with.

I found Silver Hearth Lodge (SHL) about a year and a half before I was to get married. At that time, I was living out of state so could only communicate by email or phone, thankfully Bob was very responsive and accommodating to this. My mom toured the venue and was sold, so we booked it and started planning. Once you become a SHL bride, you receive a planning guide and a plethora of help from Bob, this includes his growing list of vendors. As an out of state bride, this vendor list was AMAZING! Since I knew Bob trusted these vendors, I went at it with complete confidence. Everyone’s jaws dropped to the floor when they arrived at the venue. It is that stunning. The view is stunning, but all the venue has to offer is amazing. I was a budget bride, so I added minimal décor to both the ceremony and the reception, honestly that is all you need. Almost every one of my guests commented on how stunning and interesting the venue was. On top of being gorgeous, the venue is FUN! The dance floor has built in lighting to set the mood, the bar area is big draw and the Native American Fire Circle provides a space where people can lounge by a fire pit, though it was too rainy and windy for my wedding. Bob is very personable, honest, nice, enjoyable, laid back, knowledgeable, loving, helpful, cheerful, really any word that describes an amazing person. I am so glad to have been able to meet him and spend time with him learning about himself and his business. SHL is not about money for Bob, it is about the experiences and that shows. He is a one of a kind guy in a one of kind mountaintop venue. I could not have asked for a better wedding venue and venue owner/manager! My wedding was truly one for the books thanks to Silver Hearth Lodge, Bob, and his vendor list! Cannot wait to return for a special occasion!

Silver Hearth Lodge was a dream. We got married on August 25th and it was 75 degrees with a breeze on Bent Mountain. Bob at SHL will do everything that you need to ensure your day is perfect and exactly what you want. The venue offers a lot of space for your guests to roam and have some time to themselves and take in the scenery, and then come inside and enjoy the dance floor when they want to. You can also bring your own alcohol and pick your own caterer, which was a huge plus when deciding on our reception venue. We couldn't have been happier with SHL and Bob Johnston for the contribution that they made to our PERFECT day. We would highly recommend Silver Hearth Lodge to anyone looking for a beautiful and scenic venue with a lot to offer their guests.

My (now) wife and I had our wedding here at Silver Hearth Lodge in June and it was amazing! Everybody had a great time and everything was perfect! Bob made everything super easy and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. Everything from the lodge to the view was absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to get married.

Our wedding at Silver Hearth Lodge was everything we ever dreamed it could be! The proprietor Bob had a very thorough preparation process which ensured everything went smoothly on our wedding day. The venue is beautiful and all of our guests loved the mountain top location. Bob has thought of every detail and equipped his venue with anything you could possibly need on your wedding day, and he continues to make improvements all the time. My husband and I got married here on 10-15-16. The venue is BEAUTIFUL and has everything you could ever need in an outdoor event space (even a dog kennel!). Bob (and staff) is extremely helpful and make it very clear that they are most interested in making the Bride & Groom's day as perfect as possible by providing a preferred vendors list (helpful suggestions of vendors with good pricing & customer service), venue blueprints, and an event planning outline that covers every detail (this helped us immensely and we even avoided shelling out extra money for a Wedding Planner!) . The best part about SHL is that you barely need to decorate it, it's beautiful year-round. The view of the valley from the Overlook Pavilion is hard to beat. We absolutely could not have chosen a better place for our wedding, we continue to receive many compliments from our guests on our venue!!!

We had our wedding on October 9th at SHL and it was beautiful. The air was very cold but Bob had blankets and outdoor heaters (for rent). He even closed up the walls to try to block the wind before the event and would have moved our ceremony inside if it had been raining. Bob is very thorough and really helps plan your event. He suggested vendors, used a detailed wedding consultants guide, and was available for several visits. Bob listens to guests and is constantly making improvements. We are very satisfied with our choice of venue and enjoyed our wedding at SHL.

We had our wedding on July 10th at Silver Hearth Lodge. It was simply the perfect day and the perfect wedding for us. Bob and the rest of the staff ensured that the day ran smoothly. Leading up to the big day, Bob is available and willing to help find vendors and hash out details. He truly tailors it to your wishes. The staff were all so helpful and friendly to us and all of our guests. We highly recommend using some of the SHL staff and Bob's recommendations. We chose to have Doug Epps be our DJ. He works at SHL a lot! He was so accommodating to what we wanted and was so patient with our niece who was excited to DJ assist. Doug was beyond phenomenal. We received numerous generous compliments about the venue which was beautiful and outdoors but also accessible and convenient for everyone. We threw frisbee, danced, played corn hole, had our friends play music around the fire, and visited while enjoying beautiful views. It's so nice to have found a place where all of those things could happen and everyone could enjoy the day.

Working with Bob at Silver Hearth was such a pleasure. We were so happy to be able to have our wedding in such a beautiful area. If you need anything from the owner, he will make it happen. Defiantly go and check this place out, you won't regret it.

My new husband and I were married at Silver Hearth Lodge on May 4, 2013 and recommend it as a wedding venue without hesitation! The view from the top of Bent Mountain is amazing and makes a breathtaking backdrop for pictures and videos! Bob Johnston, the owner, is absolutely wonderful to work with and he was almost as excited about our wedding as we were! My main advice is to keep in mind that it's generally about 10 degrees cooler on the mountain than in Roanoke and the wind is almost always blowing - best advice for this encourage guests to bring layers and plan on using the heaters Bob can rent to you for when the sun goes down!

We were happy with the communication from Bob (some venue owners won't call you back!) and the attention to detail that was also a huge part of our wedding planning.
