We are so thrilled that we booked Allen and his team at Smoke Shack BBQ for our wedding day! Throughout the planning process, Allen was knowledgable, helpful, and flexible. He made all requested adjustments with ease and helped to create a catering plan that truly felt like us. On our wedding day, Allen's staff were incredibly helpful, courteous, attentive, and professional. Many guests commented on both how tasty the food was and how attentive the staff were. We are SO pleased with Smoke Shack BBQ and would book them again in a heartbeat.

Smoke Shack BBQ catered our wedding in Boulder. The food was delicious, the staff was incredibly polite, and they executed their day of services flawlessly. We got many compliments from our guests on the food and the bartenders were very entertaining. When my wife and I went to get food at the buffet, the Smoke Shack BBQ staff congratulated us on our big day. Our friends were also more than happy to help us finish the leftovers the next day.

I can’t say enough good things about Allen and the Smoke Shack Team. From start to finish, Allen was communicative and professional. He’s been in the business for a long time and knows just what he’s doing. We had a lot of fun during our at-home tasting with him and the food is DELICIOUS. On the wedding day, his team was super dialed-in and kind. We loved working with them. Also, our wedding food was hands down some of the best I’ve had — I was the bride and I ate a full plate. Just because it’s BBQ doesn’t mean it’s not gourmet - we got so many compliments on it. The flavors were incredible and it still felt very classy. I would highly recommend working with Smoke Shack.

Al was incredible, food was fantastic and better than we expected and he helped us in so many areas we didn't even know we needed help on like layout, apps, and other vendors. Get the brisket and pulled pork with vinegar based bbq sauce!

I am a Wedding Coordinator who had the pleasure of working alongside Smoke Shack for various weddings over the Summer of 2022. They are awesome! The communication during booking, tastings and leading up to the wedding was great! The Team Day of were attentive, professional, and on top of everything. And their BBQ is amazing!

My husband and I hired Allen and his team to cater our wedding, and we were very happy with the service. He was quick to respond to my many questions and requests, and the food absolutely delicious. More than that, the staff was incredibly professional, friendly and attentive to detail, which made the event feel so elegant. I especially appreciated Allen's willingness to accommodate special requests that were important to us (a tray-passed champagne welcome, tray-passed appetizers, and most of all, filling our dessert cannolis fresh). Our guests loved these little touches, and so did we! A tip I would give to anyone looking to hire Smoke Shack (or probably any caterer) is to have as clear of an idea of your timeline possible when getting a cost estimate. Allen was transparent in his pricing, but we did see a jump in the cost (due to increased staffing hours) when we realized we needed to have an earlier ceremony time to make the rest of our timeline work. It was just because it required his team to get there earlier and work more hours than we originally thought -- not due to anything shady on the billing side. Allen was very willing to talk to us about pricing and how we could have the event we wanted while still honoring our budget. We did have one minor issue with our rentals in that we didn't get the napkins we originally requested, but that could have been due to the rental company and not the Smoke Shack team, and honestly, it was not a big deal at all. I think it's great that that was the biggest "problem" we had. No one noticed, and the tables looked great! I would highly recommend Smoke Shack BBQ!

I posted an unfair review previously. We cancelled our wedding and Allen and I did have some disagreements about our deposit but after some tough conversations we were able to reach a happy conclusion. Despite the agreement and the contract Allen and I were still able to reach a solution that both parties were able to walk away happy. Unfortunately he was not able to cater the wedding but I do know it is delicious from trying it at Loveland loves BBQ.

Allen and his crew provided great service and delicious food for our wedding. Our guests really enjoyed the buffet (shredded pork, chicken, mac n cheese, vegetable medley, beans and rolls). Allen was pleasant to work with, he was responsive and receptive to our requests.

I cannot say enough about Smoke Shack BBQ! We have gotten so many compliments on how amazing our food was. They say people remember the fun they had and the food they eat and I have no doubt that SSBBQ will be a highlight of our wedding memories for years to come. Many of our guests grew up with Texas and Kansas City bbq and Allen even exceeded their expectations. D’Lina was a pleasure to work with and they made everything so special for us! We love SSBBQ!

Bbq is a staple in our family and they do it quite well! Food is excellent while being reasonably priced and the catering staff was accommodating and helpful

We had a great experience with Smoke Shack for our wedding. They are a preferred vendor for our venue at Stone Mountain Lodge, so they were familiar with the location and procedures there. Our guests enjoyed the food and the bar staff did well with our special bar setup from Old Colorado Brewery. D'Lina and staff were so helpful on the day of our wedding, even helping us find more chairs for the reception when the venue staff was not around. They made sure the bride and groom had food and drinks as needed as well. We were very appreciative of all their hard work at our wedding.

Smoke Shack was incredible for our wedding!! Honestly, my husband and I were not as focused on our food as some of our other major investments for the day (DJ / alcohol) - even though this was by far the most costly. However, that being said, I am so, so happy with their service, pricing, and quality! Allen was responsive and incredibly helpful answering questions as we began looking for our caterer. After setting up a tasting and trying his amazing options, we decided to commit. During our tasting, I came with about 30+ questions - many of which were already answered in his contract that I had already signed. Make sure you read it, as it is VERY informative! Even though it was repetitive, Allen was very patient and answered all of them. His assistant was helpful as well (D'Lina), as she also attended the tasting. Needless to say, after that we were pumped for the food! In the 7-8 months leading up to the wedding after we confirmed SSB, Allen was a wonderful consultant to what I may need outside of what his company provided (rentals, bartending - if you decide to go outside of his company, etc.). When it came to cost, SSB is quite reasonable (in terms of the wedding industry - eye roll) for the quality and quantity received. D'Lina, who attended the walk through a month before, was incredibly informative and helpful as we talked through the location and layout at the venue. She was thorough and wrote me a recap email right away on what we had discussed! On the actual day of the wedding, obviously I was consumed in getting ready for everything, but I never heard once from the caterer on questions or needs. They helped setup everything for dining, they were incredible during dinner time - the buffet line moved quickly, their staff walked around with drinks and quickly cleared tables. Everything was awesome! They were especially attentive to me and my husband throughout the evening - asking if we needed more of anything and doing their best to make us feel calm about the event. We took home the leftovers and have been sharing them with our local friends (there wasn't a ton - they did a great job on estimating the amount!), and everyone has said "that was really incredible food - especially the mac and cheese". Highly recommend SSB - almost every single thing they offer is gluten-free, which is phenomenal. SSB is the perfect catering company if you're looking for barbecue! Big shout out to Allen and D'Lina!! Thanks again!!

Working with Allen was the best! His team went above and beyond our expectations. We had a party of about 90 people and Allen pulled off a spectacular job. The cocktail hour was very elegant and the buffet service was fun. Allen made things easy for us during the planning process. We received a lot of attention day-of and they did a great job cleaning up. The hog smelled amazing and I think people were very impressed! Some said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had.

Allen and his team at Smoke Shack BBQ were all around excellent - they really know the business of good food and good catering service. We are grateful to have had them cater our wedding reception of 200 guests. The pig and all the sides were delicious, and it’s so unique to have a whole roast pig at your wedding - we had several compliments from our guests. Besides the food, Allen’s service staff were outstanding - they were spot on and very attentive to our guests and to the bride and groom in particular. They served appetizers and dinner food, tended to guest dinner tables and the bar, and served cake - all went smoothly. Working with Allen and his team over the several months leading up to our wedding was a great experience and it made for a smooth and enjoyable operation on our wedding day. Food is so important at a wedding - you cannot go wrong if you hire Smoke Shack BBQ!

I hired Smoke Shack after attending and open house and realizing they were the only full service caterer. My husband and I had a strict budget and a vision and Smoke Shack BBQ singlehandedly saw to it that our vision was a reality and we saved money! Allen put together a plan with a production team, catering staff, bartenders and a clean up crew that created a seamless experience for our honored guests! The food was amazing and the staff cared that our day was special! Thank you all and we will call you for our anniversary party!

The Smoke Shack Crew nailed it, very professional and responsive. Allen has to be one of the best planners and has great ideas to assist with any party. I was watching them pull up, Allen came to me briefly with a few questions and then I saw the team discussing a few things and then the broke to get to work, WOW, what a crew. It went off like a well oiled machine and everything was great. People are still raving about the setup, display and the taste of the food was excellent. The Cost was in the lower range of caterers we had talked to but it did not disappoint, I want to thank Allen and his team for an exceptional event spread and would recommend Smoke Shack BBQ for any event, well done my friend, well done.

Smoke Shack BBQ delivered an event that was even better than we imagined. Allen was very responsive every step of the way, from the first day we contacted him to the day of our wedding. We were very impressed at the tasting and on our wedding day, all of the food items did not disappoint – everything was delicious!! We received, and are still getting, so many compliments on the food. Allen and his staff were flexible throughout the day of our wedding and worked through the threat of rain with high winds and then it ended up being sunny. I can’t help but think that only a seasoned professional would know what to do in the event of any crazy kind of weather. He and his staff seemed to have a contingency plan for everything. I felt like I was in good hands and I didn’t have to spend a minute worrying about the reception. That kind of peace of mind on your wedding day is priceless. I would highly recommend them for their food, the service, their experience and the great communication.

First and foremost, can we get a round of applause for Allen and the Smoke Shack BBQ staff? I booked Smoke Shack BBQ for my wedding during Memorial Day weekend. Throughout the entire process, we communicated largely through email, but also through phone calls every so often. I had a lot of ideas and needed a lot of different quotes for my "what if" scenarios. Each option/idea, Allen was more than happy to send a new quote so I could best decide what worked for the wedding. From the beginning, all of the timelines and fees were pretty clear and the payment schedule definitely helped space the payments out ($200 to reserve the date, 50% of invoice a few months before the event, and the full invoice about a week before the date, including tip, so that we didn't have to worry about payment on the day-of). Heck, I changed the menu on him 3 weeks before the big day and he was patient and kind for it. On the actual day of the wedding, I was busy getting myself and the venue ready for the wedding. The staff showed up, got to work, and worked like a well-oiled machine. I saw them having a team meeting and all of them were intently listening to the captain, fully onboard and ready to get the job done. I can't make this up: THE FOOD UPSTAGED THE WEDDING. Which I'm totally okay with, obviously. I think every single guest made it a point to come and tell me how delicious the food was before adding in, "oh, and congrats on the marriage thing". I heard SO many compliments about the pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw/salad, and potatoes. When dinner first started, the staff made sure to have a plate fully ready for both me and my husband so that we were guaranteed a chance to eat - it was so dang sweet of them. I also had a single vegetarian in the group, and they made sure to save her a plate of the vegetarian option to guarantee she had something to eat in case other people accidentally took too much of it. I don't have a single negative thing to say about this vendor :)

Excellent food and service. I felt very well taken care of and didn't lift a finger. Catered a family reunion and will re-book next summer

Alan's food is AMAZING and the presentation is great, we hired him for our reception because we had his BBQ at another friend's wedding and were very impressed. However, awesome food aside, we were quite disappointed with their communication and staying on schedule the day of our wedding. Alan also tacked on another hour for Mary's crew, just in case, he said we probably wouldn't need them that long but he'd rather end up writing us a check than sending us a bill for more time. Don't get me wrong, if the catering had been cheap then yeah I could see a little lag in communication and some hiccups the day of but for the price we paid, I expected better service overall. Mary and her girls were kind and courteous, they did an excellent job helping out at the reception. At our request, they did leave earlier than planned, once the food and tables had been cleaned up but we never got any refund for the additional time we paid for. My only real complaint is that shortly before our wedding ceremony, while we were finishing getting dressed, we received a call from Mary who was trying to get access to the venue an hour before the agreed upon time. We had finalized the schedule with Alan and given him the venue's contact info weeks before so I am still unsure what the problem was the day of and we were never given an explanation. Dinner was delicious but served an hour late, without apologies, which annoyed our guests because the hog which was the main course was sitting in front of them while they waited for the rest. Despite the lateness of dinner, it was a great night with plenty of great food and everyone went home stuffed and happy.
