The Long Version: When I first spoke with Heather (the owner of Snapshots), I let her know that we were planning to do a vintage style sitting-in-the-moon photo booth. I described to her what props we'd be bringing and asked how wide and tall the shots would be to ensure they'd be able to accommodate multiple people sitting in the photo. I was assured that they've done plenty of shoots like this in the past, and that we'd be good to go. However, on the day of our wedding, the photographer showed up with only a standing-style camera mount that couldn't even get our whole crescent moon in the photo. We were told that, had we wanted seated photos, we would have had to mention it to Heather ahead of time (which I absolutely did). We were quite disappointed, considering my family members had spent hours building a moon prop and painting a gorgeous backdrop for a large format photo. After the wedding, I emailed Heather to inquire as to where our communication had gone awry. Heather then insisted that I never mentioned I wanted seated photos (untrue) and that they only ever bring their lower camera mount if children or folks in wheelchairs will be present at an event. Why they wouldn't bring the stand just in case is beyond me, but I let Heather know that she had never asked me if this would be a consideration, because we were expecting both children and folks in wheelchairs to be at the wedding. Heather then asked me what I wanted her to do about the situation considering the day had already passed, and when I let her know I'd like a partial refund, because we didn't get what we'd paid for, she flatly refused, stubbornly asserted that our photos were "perfect," and redirected by accusing us of not feeding her photographer on the wedding day. I double checked with our venue coordinator, caterer, and some of our guests, who all said the photographer was fed. I don't know if this was some kind of weird guilt trip or if they were simply confusing dates, but I reached out to the photographer independently, apologized profusely, and Venmoed her to lighten my conscience. I should have guessed sooner that we might have issues with this vendor as, along the way, there were some red flags. Four months before our wedding, Heather had asked for a copy of our invitation on which to base the design of our photostrip for the event. However, she didn't send over the photostrip design until 6 days before the wedding, and had to continuously be prompted to respond to my messages the whole week. When I saw the photostrip she had designed, I was baffled that she'd made my husband's name much larger than mine for the design, considering the names were the same font size on the invite. I wrote this off as a weird accident and redesigned the photostrip myself, but I think Heather may have some odd heteronormative determination to prioritize the groom, because when she posted our gallery on her website, surrounded by couples listed by both of their first names, our gallery was simply listed as "(husband's surname) wedding". This ticked me off as I didn't take his surname, and all our wedding stationery, including the invitation Heather was sent, list both of our names with our respective last names. As a last odd note, although Heather had told me their backdrop stands were 8' wide, the 8' wide backdrop my sister-in-law painted for us draped over their stand by about a foot on each side. So in all of our photos, there are visible wrinkles/creases in the backdrop. When I asked Heather about this, she just insisted their stands were indeed 8' somehow. I've since measured our backdrop and ordered an 8' stand online to double check, and our backdrop is indeed 8' and fits perfectly on a correctly measured stand. All in all, the photos turned out...okay, but not at all what we had envisioned, and I would never recommend someone use Snapshots for their event based on their poor service and the horrible attitude the owner had with me afterward.
