Liz is amazing!!! She did an incredible job helping us plan our wedding. The value for what you get is insane. She has the best packages I have ever seen. And I looked all over texas for a place to get married. She gives you credit for cake, DJ, food, even photographer! The only thing we would have been required to do ourselves is buy flowers and dress/grooms wear. She has great decor and her place is absolutely stunning. It was so perfect and I can't say enough about Starlight Canyon!!!!! It was beautfiul.
This is, in my opinion, the best venue in Amarillo. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, and the location is unbeatable. At the edge of the canyon, we definitely felt like we were no longer in Amarillo. The grounds need little decoration, and a lot of decor can be provided. A lot of wedding necessities (cake, catering, etc.) are included in the price, and you are spared the time of hunting for vendors (but you can provide your own, if you want). The price also includes a stay in the honeymoon suite, which is amazing! I HIGHLY recommend this venue -- it's beautiful, had the best value of anywhere we looked, and his highly accommodating.
When I first saw Starlight, I was head over heals for it. It has big beautiful trees (something you don't find in the panhandle) which was what I wanted but never dreamed I'd find in Amarillo. The price tag was a little pricey but we sat down and figured out that it was well worth it with everything the package provided, especially the fact that they set-up and tore-down and provided their own staff. Along the way however we butted heads quite often. I did not want the typical wedding under a archway and so I chose a big beautiful tree to get married under. Halfway into our engagement Starlight did a remodel and moved a pile of dirt from in front of a small barn to in front of our tree. When we came out with my decorator to decide how and where to set things up and saw the dirt, we could see where grass was already starting to push it's way through. So with a couple of months left to go we asked that they just water the area in the hopes of the grass making a comeback. Or if they wern't willing to do that if we could bring in some mulch and moss to cover the patch of grass. They came back saying that they were not willing to do anything temporary (such as just water the grass!! Or let us decorate with mulch and moss.) and if they were to do anything to the spot that they wanted to go ahead with the plans they had set for next summer, which was a flagstone patio and retaining wall and if they did that I would have to pay for a sixth of the cost of the project on top of the thousands I had already spent with them. We declined and ended up using a huge antique rug to cover the area. In addition to that I never once spoke to anyone at Starlight without calling and leaving a voicemail first. It seemed very rude to me to never answer the phone especially since Starlight is their home as well. This was a DIY wedding with my hubby and I along with our friends and family making almost everything for the wedding. My husband made these beautiful wood table tops that fit over a folding table to make it look like a wood table. We spent around $50 on materials for these 3 table tops plus hours of time making them. Starlight loved the way they turned out and had someone come over to our suite (we stayed in a cabin out there on our wedding night) to offer us $25 a piece for them. After spending so much with them this was like a slap in the face. She ended up offering us $75 the next day but we politely declined. Overall the place is beautiful and well worth the money but just go into it knowing they will not work with you. My wedding turned out perfect the way it was, and I'm happy for that. (:
Nice place and vendor
This venue is beautiful. Even in October, the outdoor area was gorgeous. The staff was very helpful and the wedding coordinator took care of everything!
I can't say enough about how thrilled I am that I discovered this treasure. Tammy does such a wonderful job in working with couples and has so much knowledge with weddings. Tammy was so helpful with all the little details. We spent our wedding night there as well as some guests and every one was pleased. We had many compliments of how beautiful the venue was. I highly recommend and well worth the money. There are packages available to suit individual needs.
