My husband and I just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in the amazing beautiful Storybook Barn ❤️
The amazing work and the story of the barn made it all so beautiful. We would encourage anyone that could to take in the venue ❤️
While the venue itself was beautiful, my overall experience with Storybook Barn was extremely disappointing to say the least. As a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding, I was appalled by the lack of professionalism and respect exhibited by the venue’s owners.
From the start, scheduling conflicts arose when another wedding party rehearsal was mistakenly booked for the same day/time as our rehearsal. While this is unprofessional, I understand mistakes happen. We made it work and I forgot about it later that night. The next morning, we showed up to the venue to set up for the event and we ran into several problems. The first problem was the cleanliness as there were so many dead flies and the bathrooms were not cleaned at all. As we made our way into the kitchen, it smelled like rotten eggs which we eventually traced to sulfur water. We could not run the water at all or else it would smell. The venue had these old metal chairs for the ceremony space that were not appealing, however, the venue owners promised that there were enough covers for every chair. When setting them up, we found that we were short by around 20 chairs! We did the best we could as we did not have time to try and purchase any but it still looked weird having old metal folding chairs behind really pretty white covered chairs.
Throughout the day, the owners consistently showed up at the venue unnecessarily and unannounced. They were mostly in the way and it seemed like they were there to simply be nosy. I completely understand wanting to check-in and make sure everything was going smoothly, however, it seemed like they were there the entire day. While this is weird, it would not have been an issue if they just observed the event, but that is not what happened. Instead, they intruded on several private moments, attempting to take unauthorized pictures of the bride without any consideration of if she wanted them to do so or the consideration of the occasion. This disregard for boundaries was inappropriate and upsetting. The wedding coordinator (who was actually just a friend who volunteered to coordinate) kindly asked that they leave and not take pictures at that time as they were having a private moment. The owner quickly left but returned not long after. He found the wedding coordinator and began yelling and cursing at her. Despite the wedding coordinator’s efforts to deescalate the situation and maintain a positive atmosphere, the owner continued to behave rudely and disruptively throughout the evening. He made a point to find her once again to scream and curse at her. Luckily her husband heard him the second time and stepped in as his behavior seemed aggressive. The things he yelled at her included: “You told me to go to hell” (even though that is not in her vocabulary), he called her “little girl in the green dress” saying “I built this barn” to justify himself. He also said “I never want to see you again.” The coordinator (who is much kinder than I would have been) did nothing during those interactions except apologize repeatedly as she was trying to get back to helping the wedding run smoothly. As we left the venue that night, we expected to not have to deal with those terrible people again, however, they actually called the wedding coordinator the next day to continue to harass her! This kind of behavior is simply inexcusable and created an uncomfortable atmosphere for all involved. To top it all off, the venue owners obtained pictures of the event via the photographer and posted them on social media before the bride or groom even did, which everyone knows is a big no-no.
I wholeheartedly caution anyone considering Storybook Barn for their special day. The unprofessionalism and disrespectful behavior displayed by the venue owners is a glaring red flag that should not be overlooked.
I don’t even know where to begin. My husband and I our middle-class paycheck to paycheck kind of people. We looked at several locations and the 417 area. You will not find another location like this! From the moment I walked through the door it was breathtaking. Not only was a location spotless I mean extremely clean it was unique. From the Stainglass windows to the handmaid light covers There is so much charisma and personality throughout this location. Pictures do not do this place justice. The possibilities are endless. Lois and her Husband Bill are honest and kind. They work hard to keep the grounds enchanting. The gardens are gorgeous. Your vendors will love and appreciate the cater kitchen!!! The groomsmen have two areas to get ready and chat. The bridal room has natural light coming in and space!! There is enough outlets to use as well. That’s not all they have a full bathroom! That’s right a standing shower just in case. The loft area is kept at the perfect temperature with the split they have. The barn also has a built in speaker system inside and out. I am so thankful that this is apart of our story… Make Storybook Barn apart of your new chapter.
This is the most beautiful barn and was so perfect for our wedding! Bill and Lois are the best. The accommodated us in many ways and were so chill. They have put so much work into this place to make it so amazing! I highly recommend having your wedding here if you are thinking of having it at a barn. They also have beautiful lighting, a firepit, a sound-system, and much more! I loved everything about this venue!
Storybook Barn is a beautiful wedding venue, very picturesque--- I love the silo and the overall total atmosphere of the venue. Bill & Lois are the perfect Hosts. This is a wonderful venue.
Couldn't have picked a better place to have wedding for our daughter . Can't say enough about how easy Lois and Bill where to work with. They have a very caring personality and made sure we had what we needed for the wedding. If your looking for a rustic style place for a wedding look no further than Storybook barn. The pictures on the website says it all. Thanks again Lois and Bill for a once in a lifetime wedding .
Storybook Barn was absolutely wonderful! The barn, the silo and the grounds were picturesque! A beautiful day in early May for the wedding. Everything went as planned and we had many compliments on the venue that we had picked. The owners were most gracious and accommodating to our needs. They helped to make this a special day indeed!
My daughter and her husband had a fairy tale wedding at the Storybook barn this past April. This venue is amazing! It is rustic yet very elegant with attention to every detail, from the beautiful silo to the incredible bridal chamber. The kitchen has a private entrance for caterers which is great; the wooden tables in the loft are gorgeous. I love all the fairy lights around the beams, and the exterior is as lovely as the interior. The fire pit with s'mores was a huge hit. The owners were fantastic to work with. I highly recommend Storybook Barn if you're wanting the perfect setting for a wedding.
Storybook Barn's impeccable taste and meticulous execution combine to mold an experience that simply feels magical. After our first visit, we look forward to returning as we write new chapters our family's collective life, including the wedding of each of our three daughters. Did I mention that it is beautiful?
