DO NOT BOOK STACY SHAW TO OFFICIATE YOUR WEDDING!!!!
After our wedding day we were so happy to just finally be married after a COVID postponement and done with all the planning and then we got a letter in the mail from the county clerk saying that they NEVER RECEIVED OUR MARRIAGE LICENSE!!!
I emailed her immediately asking her what happened - no response. I called my planner to see if she could reach out to her cuz I didn't have her phone number. She got Stacy on the phone and she said that she had responded to my email, had mailed the license in and it must have gotten lost in the mail but that she had scanned a copy, would pay for any fees for a replacement, and was going to confirm with the county clerk and get back to me.
A week passed and nothing - I send her more emails with no response. I finally get her on the phone and she said she's waiting for them to get back to her and will let me know in few days. Another week passes, I try calling her back and am sent straight to voicemail. I call the county clerk- they answer very quickly and tell me that they never got my license and that our deadline is in two days. They tell me the process for a lost license is actually pretty easy- I just need the witnesses and the officiant to sign off on the new one and pay the $25 fee! I've been desperately trying to get in touch with Stacy for the past week and she's just blatantly ignoring me at this point. She's blocked my number and I'm pretty sure she's a pathological liar. No idea why she can't just help fix this MASSIVE problem she created, especially when its such an easy fix.
We're extremely saddened by this situation and so angry that we paid her almost $500 for essentially, nothing. We're having to make an appointment to get get remarried at the courthouse.
My wedding was in November 2020 and I found Stacy through the SBSN Facebook group. As soon as she and I began messaging, I knew she was perfect for us. Stacy is detail oriented while remaining flexible and down to earth. She was also quick to offer advice and recommendations when our ceremony continued to be impacted by COVID-19. I'd recommend Stacy to anyone planning their wedding!
I hired Stacy to do weekend-of coordination for my insane-over-the-top-weekend-long-burning-man-style wedding in May of 2019. It was three days of craziness at a summer camp, but Stacy assured me she could handle it. Turns out she couldn't.
Stacy promised me three assistants - which turned out to include Stacy's two minor children. These kids spent most of their time either goofing off until someone came and told them to do a task, whining about the amount of work, or arguing with mom. They required insane amounts of babysitting and actually distracted Stacy from her work. Stacy's children have neither the maturity nor the training and professional demeanor required for this industry - and they were a completely inappropriate staffing choice for an event of this size and magnitude.
There were also some pretty egregious regulatory violations committed by Stacy's staff. At one point the first day, I caught two of her folks SMOKING on site -- a MASSIVE legal infringement that could have gotten her entire staff kicked off the property for the weekend and landed us with a $10,000 fine from the national park service! I also witnessed her son handling bagels and rolls (and her daughter serving pizza to my guests) with their BARE HANDS!
I provided Stacy with DETAILED descriptions of what I wanted in terms of décor, food service, the activities to occur during each segment of the weekend. However, any planning was made irrelevant when much of my instruction disregarded the actual wedding weekend. I kept finding jobs left undone, decorations I had provided which were never put out, reception food laid out according to specification, and my eyeball jello shots meant for our toast randomly sitting out with the buffet food.
Of course our biggest complaint was how much of our time we had to devote to doing Stacy's job. When we hired her, we were told that we just needed to show up and enjoy the weekend. Instead, we had to devote half the day Friday to decorating the reception hall (when it was supposed to be done mid-afternoon and by 3PM it was maybe a quarter finished and no one was taking any steps to get it completed), a big chunk of Saturday morning to setting up the ceremony site (when it was also not done and there was no activity in that direction even after breakfast ended), and a large part of Sunday morning helping break down/pack up.
Stacy's "coordinating" of events was also not in line with what she assured us of when we contracted with her. As a bride, I shouldn't have to come ASK my coordinator what the procedure is for getting me down the aisle - that should have been something she prepped me on well before the actual ceremony. (Stacy didn't.) I shouldn't have to tell my coordinator that she was sending the flower girl and ring bearer down the aisle to the wrong music (which Stacy did) - she should be so familiar with our ceremony that she knows exactly what's happening at each point along the way. (Stacy was barely present for our rehearsal - screwing around on her phone and not paying attention while I led the run-through.) I shouldn't have to tell my reception emcee "Hey we're supposed to have a garter/bouquet toss but Stacy hasn't said anything to me about how that's going to work and I don't see her setting anything up, so can you please go find out?"
But the best part came late in the reception evening when I found out that Stacy had thrown away $800-$1000 worth of catering food, not only without either Ben's or my permission, but in direct contradiction of my verbal and written instructions. At a wedding where I've told my wedding coordinator that I want to take any uneaten food home, she made an executive decision to toss the leftovers WITHOUT EVER SPEAKING TO ME ABOUT IT. As far as we're concerned, that's the equivalent of destroying our personal property.
To add insult to injury, when I contacted Stacy about these concerns and asked for fair compensation for the thrown-out food, as well as the level of service that we were promised and did not receive -- Stacy did nothing. I didn't want to have to leave this review - but Stacy has given me no choice. If you're thinking about hiring her for your event, caveat emptor.
I used Sylver for my destination wedding in Las Vegas and worked with Lauren for my venue decoration. We married at the sugar factory and I was a little nervous as we’d never actually seen the venue in person. Lauren was there to answer my questions whenever I needed her and even went out and purchased some of decorations for me as I didn’t want to bring them all from the UK. The wedding day went without a hitch and the decoration was lovely!
I was referred to Stacy on a Facebook group when, just 2 weeks before my wedding, both my officiant and back-up officiant fell through! I contacted her and she was beyond helpful and present.
Then a cousin proposed being our officiant and, since we really wanted family to do it, we thanked her and passed. One week later HE FELL THROUGH! Man, I was so embarrassed to call Stacy again, just one week before the wedding. But we did call her and I am so glad that we did.
Stacy rearranged her schedule for us to make it work. We had a GREAT phone call with her where we talked for probably an hour (I'm a talker, I'm sure you don't HAVE to talk that long, haha!) about everything from how we met to the embarrassing things we have done together drunkenly. It was such a fun phone call and at the end of it I knew she really understood our spirit.
She had the ceremony written in just a few days and sent it to us for approval, she came to rehearsal, on our wedding day she dressed to match our all-white/pastel wedding, and the ceremony was just the most magical --I cried through the WHOLE thing!
My entire wedding was gorgeous and, honestly, the happiest day of my life. So many people told me that my wedding was the most beautiful they had ever been to, and almost every one of them mentioned the ceremony and how much they loved the officiant.
We were so dumb to wait so long to get an officiant, but SO lucky it worked out absolutely perfectly and we got Stacy. I couldn't recommend her more! I had wanted family to officiate our marriage, and by the end, she was exactly that.
Thank you eternally, Stacy.
Absolutely fantastic! Stacy Everett wrote the ceremony and
Charles Shaw was our officiant and we received SO MANY compliments on his service. He was short and sweet and direct to the point, Stacy had requested a little bio about our life since we were renewing our vows, everything came out Perfect, perfect, perfect experience!
Stacy was amazing she composed a beautiful ceremony for us and she was also very professional and made on time to everything the rehearsal as well as the actual ceremony !!!!
After reviewing multiple Officiants, I chose Stacy because she made me feel most comfortable. She was willing to give wedding advice(i.e. vendor recommendations and general planning information, and seemed to want to help me with my wedding, I liked this). However, from day one, my husband didn’t like her. He’s determined she does not like men. However, we ended up booking her, and when she arrived at our wedding she was wearing an extremely wrinkly black skirt and black blouse, she was also covered in white animal hair. Not very professional… She likes to give the couple the opportunity to personalize the wedding vows, so we did, however she did not use the personalized copy we had agreed on. This was upsetting to me, and best of all, she forgot to tell me (the bride) when to give my husband his ring!!!!!!!!!! I’m livid, as is my husband, nearly ruined my wedding; the ceremony is a RING ceremony, and those parts were very sentimental and important to us. I ended up having to just put his on in the middle of her talking, it was very embarrassing. We are rather disappointed. For her price I’d go with anyone else.
