Tarrytown House and Estate was the perfect venue for our multi-day wedding celebration! The option to have all of our guests stay on site, as well as the multitude of different locations on-site that could accommodate events made our wedding weekend feel like a Hudson Valley getaway without feeling like we had to have every event in the same space.
From our first meeting, I could tell that Lauren had everything under control; Lauren and her team executed everything perfectly and right now schedule, which helped to make our wedding everything we wanted and more!
When it comes to wedding planning, the magic is in the details. For my wife and I, Tarrytown House Estate (TTHE) defined that ethos for our wedding. We originally chose TTHE because we wanted a venue that had enough rooms for all of our out of town guests to stay on the grounds. Our wedding was around 175 people, but they could have accommodated many more than that, and everyone loved being on site all weekend because they didn’t have to worry about additional travel logistics. We also wanted a venue that was going to give us options for how to do our various wedding events. TTHE had so many different kinds of setups to choose from, beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, and even a little speakeasy on sight for a super cool after party! So if we weren’t hooked already, as soon as we met Lauren (day of coordinator), we knew TTHE was the perfect place for us. Our guests enjoyed time at the swimming pool, meals at the onsite restaurant Goosefeathers, and had a great time relaxing on the beautiful grounds of the property surrounded by nature. Our wedding day went so smoothly, from the food served to us in the bride and groom suites, to the smooth transitions between events, all the way to our after party set up, and a million moments in between. We will cherish the experience for the rest of our lives. Thank you TTHE!
Lauren and the entire team are top shelf. Five stars all around
Any questions?
Planning a wedding with the Tarrytown House Estate was nothing short of a dream! Working with Julie Ann was one of the best planning experiences I've ever had with a venue. She was responsive, collaborated and extremely detailed. The actual venue was absolutely stunning and provided so many beautiful places and moments for a wedding guest to experience. If you're looking for a unique wedding venue, look no further than the Tarrytown House Estate. You will be in impeccable care!
Tarrytown House Estate was a magnificent venue for our daughter's wedding! The catering sales manager, Lauren, was amazing to work with, both in planning the event and on the day-of. All of the staff was great. We loved having the hotel on-site and all of the options for inclement weather. Highly recommend.
Pros:
-Everything in one place. Tarrytown House Estates has a hotel on site, but is also able to host multiple events. We held a rehearsal dinner, our ceremony, cocktail hour, after party, and a breakfast the morning after all in one place. This was especially great for people who were traveling from far away
-GORGEOUS place. The grounds, the rooms, and the mansions themselves were beautiful and you got great views of the Hudson depending on where you were
-The recommended vendors list TTHE provides was incredibly helpful, not only were the different service providers familiar with the grounds which is an obvious plus, but in hindsight, it is clear that TTHE has curated a list of some of the best professionals in the wedding space in and near Westchester county.
-Staff at the hotel was incredibly kind and the rooms were comfortable
-The Staff for the ceremony and reception were excellent. They made sure that everything was set up to perfection
-The food is fantastic, better than any wedding or large event we’ve been to in many years. Only the best things to say about the chef and their staff.
-Julie Ann was knowledgeable, personable, and so detailed and organized. She was a massive help throughout our time working with her, but even more so the day before and the day of. She took the time to get to know us, which is something given how much she has on her plate every day, and made sure our experience was as personable as possible.
Cons
-Before Julie Ann, we had worked with 3 other catering sales managers. Each of those 4 individuals was great, especially Juile Ann, who really put us at ease as the date got closer, but the overall feeling of things being passed around did have us feeling concerned at times.
-The mobility-impaired individuals in our wedding party did not receive rooms that accommodated them. They were given rooms that ended up being a long walk for them and had to use multiple staircases
-The suite in the King Mansion had a beautiful balcony and great views of the Hudson. However, the King Mansion had a bad odor in the carpeted areas
The staff at Tarrytown House Estate were professional and friendly and responsive throughout the process of planning our wedding. Lauren M., Shay A., Stephanie (concierge), Nick and Kenneth (valet) and all the staff were wonderful to work with!
Working with Lauren Medina, event planer at the Tarrytown House Estate for our Bridal Shower was a joy. My daughter and I gave the shower and we are both extraordinarily busy. But once we arrived at decisions and put our faith in Laura and the staff, we were not disappointed. All requests were easily accomplished with good humor and competence. The day was a beautiful tribute to our bride and to the expertise of the staff. Couldn't rate them higher, but I would if I could.
We're so happy we decided to get married at the Tarrytown House Estate. The package we chose provided so much value: event coordinators, working with us on our custom table and aisle setup and requests, storage leading up to the event, excellent hors d'oeuvres and meal service, even the wedding cake. As we had no event planner, it's hard for us to imagine pulling the wedding off elsewhere. The historical style of the Biddle Mansion gave the cocktail hour and reception a classical, elegant vibe, and the wedding on the terrace during golden hour was extraordinary beautiful and special. The tasting was fun, and we'd like to shout out Chelsea (and Lauren initially) for handling all the correspondence and details, along with the rest of the staff who handled the room blocks, bridal and groom suites, meal service and breakfast the day after.
There are not enough words to describe how amazing and perfect our wedding was at the Tarrytown House Estate!! It truly was the wedding of our dreams and the venue was perfect for everything we wanted...and more! Lauren Medina was our point of contact through it all and she was the best! We planned a NYE wedding in 6 months and she made sure everything along the way was stress free and seamless! She helped us get better prices with other vendors and made sure we were getting the best vendors out there, she helped bridge those conversations! Day of was perfect, Lauren and her staff made me feel like a true bridal princess and I didn't have to lift a finger or think about anything! All of our guests said this was one of the best venues they've been to, since everything is on site it was so easy. Everyone remarked on how good the food was, people even took left overs home! I would HIGHLY recommend getting married here!!
We had the wedding of our dreams at Tarrytown House Estates on November 4, 2023. I did not have a planner and therefore worked extremely close with the staff of both the catering and hotel management and although there were some miscommunication issues, everyone worked extremely hard to make our day so special and take care of our guests. I do recommend hiring a planner; it's expensive and you definitely can do it by yourself, it's still a ton of work to organize. however, in the end I would absolutely recommend having your wedding here!! my parents, both sides of the family and friends we all had a blast the whole day until late hours of the after party. these memories will last us a life time!!
We truly can't thank Lauren Medina & The Tarrytown House Estate enough! Working with Lauren was so easy - she really knows her stuff and handled everything so smoothly. The venue, the food, the unique space, the hotel, everything was perfect and exactly what we imagined. From the first tour to the tasting to the big day, we just can't recommend TTHE enough!
We recently had the pleasure of hosting our wedding hotel room block at Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. While our venue wasn't Tarrytown House itself, the proximity made it the perfect choice for our guests, and it turned our wedding weekend into a memorable retreat.
The accommodations, particularly the Presidential and Executive Suites, exceeded our expectations. The spacious and beautifully appointed rooms provided a luxurious haven for us and our guests. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities made our stay truly special.
The staff at Tarrytown House deserves a special mention for their exceptional service. From the moment we checked in to the time we checked out, every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. They were not only professional but also warm and accommodating, making us feel like VIPs throughout our stay.
The picturesque setting of Tarrytown House Estate added a touch of magic to our wedding festivities. The lush surroundings and stunning views of the Hudson River created a serene atmosphere, providing a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of wedding preparations.
Additionally, the convenience of being close to our wedding venue made logistics seamless for our guests. Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson truly played a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience for us and our loved ones.
In conclusion, if you're considering Tarrytown House Estate for your stay, whether it's for a wedding or a leisurely getaway, we wholeheartedly recommend it. The combination of elegant accommodations, attentive staff, and a breathtaking location makes it a standout choice. Thank you, Tarrytown House, for being a part of our special weekend and contributing to the wonderful memories we'll cherish forever. We look forward to returning for future celebrations and escapes!
Lauren you are absolutely the best!!!
Hi, Everything was AMAZING from START TO FINISH. Our Guest loved EVERYTHING. Thank you Sooooo much for making our Day, Perfect. If you took any pictures of the room and tent decorated you should put on your website, to bring in future Weddings. We will be telling Everyone we know planning a wedding Lauren and Tarrytown Estates is the only place to have it. The Hotel and Breakfast brunch were fantastic as well. We will be back soon for an overnight and breakfast. I will come by and grab our lanterns next couple of days.
This is Eddie by the way, Jessica is sitting next to me.
Thank You Again For doing a Great job.
Eddie & Jessica
Lauren and her team gave us our dream wedding. They were very thorough, thought of everything that we could want or have questions about, and were very organized. We knew going into the weekend that everything was in good hands, and that the ceremony and reception would go off without a hitch.
The views and spaces are absolutely gorgeous, the food is excellent, and the staff is kind and helpful. We are so glad we picked Tarrytown House Estate!
I had the MOST perfect and most beautiful wedding at Tarrytown House. We chose the venue for its location, beauty, and all-inclusiveness. We had many guests traveling from all over the country, so Tarrytown had a great location near JFK and easily accessible by train and car. Plus, about half my guests stayed at the hotel which made things very easy. We had a lot of rain, and I was glad to have everyone nearby instead of driving to each location. The event rooms are fully equipped with outlets, coat rooms, bathrooms, handicap availability, etc. There were a thousand little details that I didn't have to worry about because its all done for you and included in the price. For a large wedding, for people working full time, or if you want to enjoy your day and not set up or clean up - this is the way to go.
I cannot say enough good things about the catering staff but had many issues with the hotel. I gave it 5 stars because the event staff went above and beyond, and I had the perfect day. From the very begining, the catering and event staff worked with my budget to customize the day to what we wanted. They laid out contingencies for rain (which we needed) and my groom, family and bridal party didn't have to lift a finger the entire day. As other people have said, communication is the hardest part of working with TTHE, however on the day of, everyone was so kind and so receptive. We never were without a food and drink, and the venue provided a bridal attendant, day of coordinator, a bridal party server, and the maitre d' was always by our side. Even when problems arose, the staff stepped in to make sure it was resolved before it reached us. I got to dance, sing and photo booth the night away without a care.
The grounds are impeccable with seasonal flowers, and so clean. The getting ready room for me and for the groom were a game changer- so big, airy and lots of tables. We had food delivered on the morning of. Everyone made sure we ate enough food. The ceremony space outside is perfect, but we had to move inside and everyone turned it over so quickly during cocktail hour. The venue reserved everything for us all day so we didn't have to share the space with anyone else or worry about being in the way or moving items while getting ready. There are so many beautiful rooms.
I also appreciated everyone's honesty when it came to pricing and working with our budget. We added a welcome party at the last minute and they pulled out all the stops. The food was impeccable, they worked around a lot of dietary restrictions, and the liquor was top shelf. Our guests felt like they were royalty with all the food and beverage options. I would HIGHLY recommmend TTHE as a venue. Thank you everyone.
The one downside that I would advise against was the hotel. I am not sure if the hotel and event staff are run by the same team, but we ran into multiple problems with the hotel and they were not very accomodating. We got it sorted out, but the hotel staff addded a lot of stress to our wedding day. Between overcharging guests, assigning rooms wrong, and turnover of staff it was not what we needed. Plus the hotel is very large and there is not a lot of signage so a lot of guests were lost. It's a shame that the hotel was amiss, but knowing those issues I wouldn't have changed where we had our wedding.
Chelsea Kirstein and her team at the TTHE were amazing in helping me host the most beautiful bridal shower for my daughter! It exceeded my expectations! The food was delicious, the venue beautiful and the staff the day of were so helpful and patient. What says it all was my daughter's message to me later that day: "Today couldn't have been more perfect!" Tracey R.
I had my wedding at Tarrytown House this past weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The space was beautiful and the staff was pleasant and accommodating. There were a few hiccups as expected but the team handled them quickly and smoothly. Shout to to Chelsea, Terrence, and George who helped make our night incredible. We took photos both inside and outside of the Biddle Mansion and I cannot wait to see what they look like!!
Tarrytown House Estate was the PERFECT venue for our wedding. We had a lot of out of town guests coming in for the weekend and we wanted a venue that had all our events on site and TTHE did not disappoint! Lauren was amazing to work with, answered all our questions in a timely manner, and worked with us on special requests. Despite the rain forcing us to move the ceremony inside, the wedding was exactly what we dreamed of. So many of our guests told us it was one of the best weddings they had been to at such a beautiful venue, and with some of the best food! I can't recommend Lauren and the TTHE enough!
Had a wonderful experience at the Tarrytown house for my daughter in laws shower. Staff was wonderful and attentive and helped us with all our needs the day of. The rooms in the Biddle house are magical and The food was delicious and service was terrific. The only reason I didn’t give this a 5 star is that the communication in the beginning was not as responsive as we’d like and we would’ve appreciated a little more excitement and idea sharing from the sales team during planning phase. Having said that, everyone “showed up” the day off and we had a wonderful day!
Tarrytown House Estate, especially Lauren, helped us plan a welcome party, breakfast and after party for our wedding festivities. Lauren did a great job covering all bases for us and we couldn't have been happier.
Excellent venue for a wedding. Lots of rooms and outdoor areas for different events. Super convenient to have the hotel nearby. Would definitely recommend
We were very pleased with the beautiful estate, the food was excellent, and I was most pleased by the staff's responsiveness to our questions and our needs. I knew I would get a quick response to my emails
Everything went very well.
A beautiful, picturesque venue with nicely landscaped grounds. Plenty of facilities for activities including basketball, tennis, swimming and a gym. Nicely appointed rooms. Superb catering service with great food. Overall, a perfect experience. Lauren Medina, the catering manager and Jannel King who managed our accommodations were very responsive and organized. All the staff did a wonderful job!
We just hosted our daughters wedding here and it was fabulous.
The food was abundant and amazing and the atmosphere was so beautiful at night. Lauren, Javier and their team went above and beyond all night and throughout the whole planning process.
They waited on us hand and foot and took are of everything leading up to and during the event. We couldn't have asked for anything more. A vey first class experience.
We'd recommend this venue for any couple's special day! The Tarrytown House was the complete package and exactly what we were hoping for when looking at different venues for our wedding weekend! The property was perfect, with all of our guests being able to stay at the hotel for a reasonable rate, not to mention the ceremony site in the garden was beautiful during August. We were able to utilize the entire Biddle Mansion from Rehearsal to getting ready, Cocktail and Reception. Special shout out to Lauren who manages all weddings onsite - she was not only extremely personable but ensured everything ran smoothly throughout the day!
Thank you so much to Lauren for helping make sure everything was organized and went according to plan! Everything was perfect, and we're very grateful for how attentive both Lauren and the Tarrytown House Estate's staff were the entire day. The entire weekend was wonderful and there wasn't anything we would change. Even a little thing like allowing guests to take home food was thoughtful since we there was so much great food at the wedding that people couldn't finish it all. They are truly committed to making your day "you" and special.!
Lauren Medina, sales/catering/events manager was spectacular. Her hands on assistance, guidance and help cannot be overestimated.
as the mother of the bride, I was impressed with the Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson handling of my daughter's and now son in law's wedding. It was beautifully done and with the much of the help from Tracy (the catering manager) it went above and beyond of what we hoped for.... thank you so much for a truly memorable wedding.
The events planner was awesome. Beautiful venue and so many beautiful spaces for events. They just need to get the key situation fixed for their hotel rooms.
Great place to do an event.
I wish I could review the planning process separately from the actual wedding day.
The early stages of booking were an absolute nightmare ... spotty responses, long delays in getting a contract, and they missed dozens of emails (which actually led to them releasing our wedding date at one point). They also double booked our rehearsal dinner space and took almost a month to notice the mistake... which left us scrambling to figure out a solution.
Communication on the whole was disappointing, and had me ready to leave a one star review... but then we had the actual wedding.
From the time we had the tasting until the day after our wedding -- this place was AN ABSOLUTE DREAM.
The set-up, the proactive problem solving, and the food 😍
Best. Wedding. Ever.
I am the mother of the bride - it was my daughter who chose this venue and I could NOT have been Happier! The venue was gorgeous, the staff (ALL of them) were above kind and helpful. It was a large wedding that ran smoothly and flawlessly. There is not a negative thing I can say about the food - It Was all 5 star! That is very difficult to do with a large wedding. All food was cooked to perfection and the sizes were plentiful and they catered to food allergies. The reception dinners all came out at the same time - warm and perfect (difficult to do!) The happy hour/Hors d'oeuvres were buffet style and trayed/hand delivered, all to die for. The service in the bridal room was impeccable. They gave us privacy but consistently checked in to make sure all needs were met. They just kept replenishing food and drink for those hungry girls. The after party was a blast and the breakfast the following morning for guests who stayed on grounds was an amazing buffet with omelette/waffle stations. My opinion is if you are impressed by the stunning grounds and the convenience of having happy hr, reception, after party, a hotel room and breakfast all in one EXTRAORDINARY place - all attended to by plentiful, professional and sweet staff - don't even bother looking elsewhere. THIS was made into a fairytale wedding.
The grounds and venue space at Tarrytown House Estate are amazing. We loved it as soon as we saw it and booked very quickly afterwards. The wedding weekend turned out amazing and we had the best time. However, the planning process was extremely stressful. We know that businesses have been dealing with a lot with covid, but the lack of communication was horrible. Emails and phone calls would go unanswered for weeks. We would have to follow up multiple times and even still wouldn’t receive what we were asking for. We switched people that were working on our wedding account 3 times, but are very happy that in the end we worked with Lauren. She was by far the best communicator of everyone that we worked with. She made sure the whole wedding weekend went smoothly and paid attention to all the details we had asked for. Jose, who was in charge of setting up and overseeing the wedding was also great. Overall, we had an amazing wedding and our guests had a great time, but the communication issues really caused us unnecessary stress throughout the process.
We are so happy with how our day turned out and how seamless it was working with Tarrytown House Estate and Tracy!
She was there for us every step of the way, answered all of our questions and even helped us swap certain menu offerings in-and-out of their basic packages to really create a night that was custom to us, offered everything we wanted, while still staying in budget.
All of our guests raved about the food and the space was truly beautiful. It was renovated earlier in 2019 and the finished product is stunning. We had our reception in the Winter Palace and the windows out to the lawn make for a gorgeous setting that doesn't feel like a standard ballroom.
We also were married outside in November (it was chilly but doable) and they offered hot cider for all our guests while they were seated/waited for us. It was small touches like these that really made it feel like our day, and not a cookie cutter wedding.
Thank you, Tracy and Tarrytown House for a night we will never forget!
We had our wedding here in September 2019. As a gay couple, it's hard to come by a place with staff who are nonjudgemental, incredibly kind, and love their jobs. The services staff and specifically the Maitre'D blew us away. We did our entire event here from rehearsal dinner on Friday to all the wedding events on Saturday, and a brunch on Sunday. Everything was more than we'd ever dreamed. Highly recommend.
We had our wedding at Tarrytown on June 23 and it was absolutely MAGICAL. Kevin and his team did a fabulous job. They coordinated everything so on the day of the event I didn't have to worry about a thing.
It was the perfect location for me because I could have lodging, the ceremony, and the reception all in one spot. Plus, hanging out at Cellar 49 before and after the wedding was very fun! There is a cool game room that is PERFECT for an after party.
The only concern I had was that it was very, very hot on the day of my wedding and I wish that I had given out fans to the guests. They were wearing tuxedos and melting in the sun, and a few fans would have gone a long way. Other than controlling the weather (LOL) the staff at Tarrytown took care of everything!
I got married at Tarrytown House in June 2019 and everything was perfect. I worked with Tracy and I could not imagine planning a wedding without her. I was constantly asking her questions and changing things up until the last minute, she was always there willing to help along with a smile. She found a solution for everything I could throw at her and I could tell she genuinely cared about making this the best day possible for us. She really seems to love what she does and has experience doing it. I felt like I was the only wedding she was working on, when in reality she probably had dozens of other brides and events being planned, she is truly amazing.
The food was excellent. I had an idea what to expect for the sit-down meal from when we did the tasting, but the cocktail hour surpassed my expectations! (I would recommend the Hudson Heirloom station with the Burrata and Mozzarella, it got particularly high praise from the guests!) Everything was really well done; everyone enjoyed the setting out on the patio as well. The food during the reception was very good, and the service seemed very attentive, covering the guest’s meals if they were not sitting down so it would not get cold.
The setting was perfect and having the hotel right there was a huge plus for the guests and us. It really made for a fun and easy weekend with everyone together on the grounds. I was a bit nervous about the hotel since I had seen some negative reviews. There were a few minor issues that I heard about; AC not working, guests given the wrong room number, etc. But I did not hear about anything major and was overall pleased with the hotel.
I would definitely recommend Tarrytown House, especially if you are working with Tracy!
We tried to plan a wedding at TTHE. We went back and forth on the contract for several months. For every correction that was made, another mistake or unexpected change would be added. We were quite clear upfront about things that were non-negotiable to us, like no construction, so we would not waste everyone’s time. After months of assurances, we received the final contract. We were astounded to discover in it that management had decided to renovate during the time frame of our wedding and many of the rooms we had been promised were suddenly unavailable. We never even received an apology for being led on. There were additional surprises as well, but you get the point. We did have a meal at the restaurant and the food and service was quite good. If you are considering TTHE for your wedding, make sure you carefully read the ~20 pages of the contract and pin everything down. We hope you have better luck than we did. In the end, we had a truly magical wedding at the Pleasantdale Chateau (and their contract was less than 3 pages!)
We had our wedding at Tarrytown House on September 1st and the day was perfect! We worked with Kevin in Catering and John for the wine. Both guys were super knowledgeable and helpful. The food was spectacular and the tasting was so much fun. Gary was with us for assistance throughout the night and he did a fantastic job. The staff and service is above and beyond! From start to finish, Tarrytown House really takes care of everything.
I had my wedding here on 4/21/18 and it was everything I hoped for. The food was delicious and everyone raves about the food. The chef was very attentive to our menu and he created a very unique and delicious menu. Nothing about this place is ordinary. The bridal attendant was so helpful and attentive. Kevin the catering manager answered all my questions quickly and in depth. The time planning for the wedding went quickly and they helped organize all the details. The day of I didn’t have to worry about anything. They were professional and detail oriented. When we saw the view of this venue we knew it was perfect for us, you look over trees to see the Hudson River. The grounds are a perfect location for photos. I cannot say enough good things about my entire experience at Tarrytown House Estate.
We had our wedding here last weekend and I’m still smiling over how perfect it was. I worked with Jamie, who ensured every detail was explicitly followed and that our wedding would be exactly how we designed it - which it was. Our guests raved about the food. The staff was lovely and accommodating. The wind started picking up really bad as I was walking down the aisle and I begged Wilson, the maitre d’ if we could move our cocktail hour inside. While I got married, he quickly switched over the stations and bars to bring it indoors - WOW thank you! Sandra, my bridal attendant, was also a complete delight - helping me with literally everything to make sure I looked and felt my best. The best part is that the entire weekend, from Friday to Sunday, all took place on the same grounds, so it was a pleasant and stress-free experience for our guests (and us too!) I highly recommend this venue.
We had our wedding on 3/17/18 at Tarrytown House and it was magical and unforgettable. The venue itself was beautiful, we were able to make it a one stop shop since we had many out of town guests who stayed on the property and we also held the rehearsal dinner there. My husband and I live in Texas and my family is in Westchester. Coordinating from afar is daunting but my coordinator Jamie Schmitt made it very manageable. She was always available, very efficient and extremely thorough. I really enjoyed working with her and it was easy trust we were in very good hands. At the event Sandra my bridal attendant and Gary were beyond attentive and everything went sincerely smoothly. I have only positive memories of the entire weekend and continue to get raves and raves from my guests.
We did our entire wedding weekend here. Rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception as well as our guests stayed at the hotel. We would not have had it any other way. The Venue was perfect!
Tarrytown House Estate was my dream venue! Everything about the grounds was gorgeous, especially in the fall. The team at Tarrytown House Estate adds to the beauty of the venue. I worked with Javier who was amazing! He helped make everything I wanted come true, down to timing our guests walking into cocktail hour exactly as the sun started setting behind the trees on the Hudson. My parents and I are extremely detail-oriented, from the food to the gardening, he listened to us and did the best he could to make sure every detail was perfect. I asked to have two bridal attendants, one specifically dedicated to making sure our morning timeline ran smooth as we had a huge bridal party, plus family members. Javier said he knew exactly who to put in charge of the morning timeline and he was dead on when he chose Melissa!! There is no way I would have enjoyed the morning as much as I did without her! To say she went above and beyond would be an understatement! She loves what she does and you can tell!! Sandra, who was referred to me by my florist, Shelley, at Forever In Bloom, was my main bridal attendant and did not disappoint!! She stayed with me throughout the night and was there if I needed anything. At one point during cocktail hour I felt overwhelmed by all the hellos and thought all I needed was a glass of champagne and as I turned around she was standing there with one!! Talk about perfect timing! While we’re on cocktail hour, I’ll tell you again that the grounds were so magnificent and the food was so good, no one wanted to leave for the reception! Everyone kept saying they were so happy right there. Which brings me to the Chef! Anyone who has attended many weddings knows that the food is not always perfect. Cooking for a wedding like mine up to 300 people is hard to get everything timed perfectly, but he did it! At our food tasting we were very specific as to what we wanted (and how we wanted it to be displayed on the plate, down to the asparagus), and everything was perfect and WARM. There was not one cold dish that was brought out and the food literally melted in your mouth. People are STILL talking about it and our wedding was in October! The Chef did an outstanding job and he’s really really nice!! The Tarrytown House Estate also has a hotel right on site which was amazing. It made it very easy for the guests and it was nice to have everyone in one place without having to deal with transportation! Everyone is so nice, including Andrew, the bellhop who worked most of the weekend. I had to move my dress three times and every time he took control and made sure it was handled with care, even when it left his hands. It was also too long for the hotel closet, but he made sure we found a place to hang it in the room so it didn’t get wrinkled. On the last day I was there, I was informed that a lot of my goody bags weren’t taken. Andrew helped me go through all of them and divide up the waters and chips and break down all the bags so it was easier to transport. I can’t say enough about how helpful he was! You can clearly tell the professionalism and pride the entire team at Tarrytown House Estate has for what they do. Thank you for making our day perfect, and for making every day leading up to it as seamless as possible!
Our wedding was everything we dreamed of at The Tarrytown House! The food and service were incredible. Our guests have been talking about the food for weeks! The Estate is beautiful place to stay for the whole weekend.
The Tarrytown House hosted me and my husband's wedding weekend in October 2018, and the venue and staff truly made our wedding weekend more incredible than we ever could've imagined. Throughout the planning process, there were multiple contacts to work with and they were very accommodating to our busy work schedules. They provided recommendations of vendors (all of which turned out fantastically) and provided wonderful professionalism that made the planning process so much less stressful. More than half of our attendees were traveling from out of town, and it couldn't have been a better venue for a multi-day event. With guests arriving Thursday, we hosted a welcome BBQ on site on Friday, ceremony/reception Saturday, and brunch Sunday. Every event was executed flawlessly by Tarrytown House, and our guests could not stop talking about how incredible the grounds and people were. With the grounds boasting generous space, it never felt like guests were "stuck" in a hotel which can happen during a multi-day event. It truly was a weekend getaway for them and the most beautiful landscape to marry my best friend. My husband and I are extremely type A and planned everything to the second which could usually lead to disappointment, but Tarrytown House (thanks to their remarkable staff) truly is the reason our weekend exceeded our expectations and made it even more wonderful!
All in all the TTHE is a wonderful place to get married. Very easy to get to from NYC and has the convenience of a big hotel with beautiful grounds and ballroom (The Winter Palace) of an estate. What really sold us on the venue was the food - both in terms of quantity (especially for the cocktail hours which I find so important not to leave people hungry for!) and quality it was fantastic.
The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the coordination staff while very pleasant seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and disorganized - I felt like I had to be much more proactive with planning and organizing because of it. They also have multiple events on the property at once which I did not mind but because of the disorganization and lack of communication between the event coordinators there were competing events on the grounds during my pictures and we had to switch plans because of it - something I was guaranteed would not happen when I signed our contract.
The rest of the staff (particularly the bridal attendant!) was wonderful, professional and very much on top of their game.

I wish I could write 2 separate reviews - one for the wedding venue itself, and one for the hotel part - because my experiences could not have been more different. I knew this would be my venue from the moment I stepped on the property - it is an absolutely breathtaking estate and exceeded my vision. We hit a few bumps about a month out from the wedding when my "day-of-coordinator" Elizabeth (who had been doing a great job!) unexpectedly gave me a week's notice that she was resigning, so I had to rush to finish my table assignments to ensure she would be able to look everything over. I was given a new coordinator, Kevin, who ended up leaving a pretty sour taste in our mouths. Then, when we arrived at check-in almost EVERYONE in my entire wedding had issues with their check-in process, which the front registration manager Joseph H did nothing to resolve. My rehearsal dinner, which was on site, was set to start at 5 pm and yet my MOH, who had arrived at 2, was not given a room until 4:40 and was unable to freshen up before the rehearsal. She was also given a room with a warped bed, complained, and no one ever even visited her room to resolve it. On the morning of the wedding, Kevin walked into the bridal suite at 11 am unprovoked and warned my mother and mother-in-law "not to pick any fights so early in the morning". Nonetheless, my wedding itself went off without a hitch and it was a beautiful, perfect day. The food was phenomenal and my guests had rave reviews. I would highly recommend the wedding venue itself, but would advise against using their hotel blocks to avoid you and your guests some stress.
Romantic. Grand. Vintage. Chic. Our wedding at Tarrytown House Estate was whimsical, to say the least. We had such a warm and welcoming experience from start to finish with the full team at TTH. Our wedding coordinator at TTH, Liz Edwards, was incredibly professional, communicative and accommodating. She was always smiling and just a lovely, sunshiny person to be around. If you are a bride and have the opportunity to work with Liz, you will be forever calm and collected in planning your big day. My confidence in her and TTH was steadfast throughout and I had little to no stress during/leading up to our whole weekend celebration. I was also very lucky to have Sandra as my bridal attendant. She was amazing! The venue itself made for a very easy environment -
where we could stay in the hotel rooms and wake up in the same place of the wedding and have all events of the day on property and end the day sleeping back in the same bed. Super smooth for us and our out of town guests. Personally, I was thrilled to have no hassle. Day of, we had an outdoor ceremony on the Terrace. It was beautiful! And our cocktail hour/reception were in the Biddle Mansion. Our reception was an energized party, full of life and love and laughter and yet we had an intimate feel inside the Winter Palace room of the Biddle Mansion. The aesthetic is classic, elegant and historic in essence. The exterior's natural greens and florals are beautiful. We had little decor needed because the venue truly speaks for itself. The food...well, still daydreaming about all the food! Not only was everything just as delicious as it was at our tasting, but there was also such an abundance of food and beverage. Totally worth the money. My family and friends are huge into food/drink and everyone went back to their rooms happy and full. The cocktail hour is too good! Many options and many interactive displays. Lots of pass-arounds. And the 3 course meal, plus dessert was exceptional too. I really cannot say enough about the food. Please do message me if you want to know specific selections we made. Overall, we had a blast and the absolute best time celebrating with Tarrytown House Estate. Everyone on their team was wonderful. I whole heartedly recommend TTH!
AMAZING!!!!
We were married just over a month ago at Tarrytown House Estate and we could not be happier with the decision to trust them with executing the absolute best day we could have asked for.
Liz was wonderful to us in the months leading up to our big day - she took her time to answer every one of our questions about the menu and space to help create both a Ceremony and Reception that was exactly what we hoped for. I emailed her MANY times along the way and she was very responsive and helpful by sending me photos of prior events and making suggestions so that I could create the perfect timeline for our day.
Sandra was my Bridal Attendant and she was the BEST! My lace dress ripped a few minutes before photos and she was there to sew it in place. She also helped me with my bustle and and continually made plates of food for my husband and I and made sure we had drinks and were well taken care of as we focused on mingling with each of our guests. She took care of moving all of the items my bridal party and I left in the bridal suite over to my honeymoon suite the evening of the wedding, and she packaged all of our keepsake items and had them ready for me in our suite so that I didn't have to worry about anything at the end of the evening.
We also reserved the Cellar 49 space for our after party and our guests really loved being able to stay on the property for every portion of our event.
Our phones were ringing ALL DAY the day after our party to say what a great time they had. We contracted the Grand Duke package (for a party of 100) and THE FOOD IS AMAZING! We had enough food at cocktail hour to serve a small wedding.
The dessert hour and party enhancements were a great way to add a little something special and unexpected treat for our guests.
Our photos just came in and the West Terrace and Biddle Mansion lawn are a gorgeous backdrop for photos.
They provided a table for our Cigar Roller and a space for a Sinatra Singer as well. They were completely amenable to any customizations we suggested.
We know we made the best decision by choosing Tarrytown House Estate. The service is high quality and you will be well taken care of and happy with every penny you spend.
Good luck!
This place was amazing. From start to finish they made me feel important. When I was shopping for venues, everywhere i sent inquiries to sent me back a general response with quoted prices, and being someone who wanted half of the minimum standard guest requirement, Tarrytown House was the only venue who asked me "what is it that you are looking for maybe we can work something out" after sending me their standard wedding package and finding out I was not looking for that type of wedding . They were the only venue that didn't force me to have the wedding they wrote on paper and they made my small intimate wedding become a beautiful reality. My wedding was amazing, it went flawlessly because of the impeccable service Tarrytown House exudes. I left my veil somewhere (have no idea where and didnt even notice i forgot it) and when I got to my room that night it was hung and wrapped in the closet, being so involved with my guests staff took initiative to wrap the top layer of my cake for me, and when I didnt remember it the next morning the Staff asked me if I had it and got it for me prior to check out. I didnt have to think, the staff here were on top of everything, there was not one thing i had to ask for or inquire about the staff clearly were proffessionals in what they do. I was stress free on my big day, i had so much fun and everything was beautiful and perfect. This place cuts no corners whatsoever, including handing out umbrellas to my guests, and setting up a pavilion umbrella (classy colors at that all uniform as if it was planned) when it began to drizzle and I told them I still wanted my ceremony outside. I noticed no rain on my day, it was all perfect. Thank you thank you thank you, best day of my life and Tarrytown House made that happen.
Months after, I am finally writing my review and I really do wish I had more positive to say. We were beyond excited to have our wedding here as this venue is truly unique and gorgeous. We were even able to move past the stressful negotiations and contracts at the beginning. We had an issue at one point with the reservations dept, but they did fix it and Alex was so helpful in the process. Leading up to the wedding, we knew there was a chance of rain on the day and we were pretty nervous about this as our plan was to be married on the terrace of the biddle mansion. The day came and of course it did wind up raining, but early enough where it did clear up in time for our ceremony. However, this is where is just all went wrong. The way Tarrytown House handled this was so disappointing and truly ruined our day. I wish I could give them an excellent rating, but they did not prove their professionalism, responsiveness or flexibility in this event. Other reviewers had met the manager Joe. Unfortunately we did not. We found out after speaking to him that he was there that day however, he never did come welcome us or intervene during our ceremony setup. Our banquet manager caused so much stress between my husband and I that it left us not even wanting to go to our own reception. When rain was in the forecast, she kept coming to us repeatedly asking if we wanted our ceremony outside(even interrupted our first look), but failed to acknowledge our request of keeping it outside. Everything was set up inside and when we asked to move it, we were told there was not enough time and our wedding party would have to help. A wedding venue with a full staff is incapable of moving 90 chairs in a matter of an hour? Joe admitted this was a mistake on their part and offered us a partial refund but it was not enough considering it ruined our wedding day. I caution other brides to be VERY upfront and forceful with what they want. No one should have felt the way we did on our wedding day.
Tarrytown House Estate was the perfect place to get married. Liz Edwards, our wedding coordinator/event planner, did a truly amazing job seeing to it that everything ran smoothly from the first day we booked the venue all the way through the day after the wedding. Most of our guests, including us, came from out of town so it was amazing to have everything all in one location. The staff was accommodating and incredibly polite. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. And the food was to die for. We received compliments from almost every single guest who attended our wedding about how amazing the venue was. I highly recommend Tarrytown House Estate. You won't be disappointed!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience getting married at Tarrytown House Estate at the end of August, 2016. The estate does a fantastic job making sure you've thought through all of the major details of your ceremony and reception, and they assign you a personalized planner who will work with you to organize your ceremony and reception setup and catering. We worked with Antonio Martinez, the Catering Planning Manager, and he was great—extremely knowledgable, kind, and there to help us through each of the events we put together over the course of three days at the estate. Tarrytown House also provided us with day-of helpers who did everything from setting up a bridal changing area to holding my wedding dress train as we were taking pictures on the grounds to helping make sure we got to eat some of our reception dinner! They also took very good care of our 170+ guests, several of whom stayed at the estate's hotel for the weekend.
It's almost a year since our wedding at the Tarrytown House and we still have family and friends raving about the venue. The location is obviously beautiful and historic, and, for us, it had the added perk of being conveniently located for both of our families.
Here are some main takeaways, in hopes they can help you with your selection:
Outstanding:
- Staff that helped plan our wedding (notably Antonio and Liz). They were accessible via email ahead of time and very accommodating the weekend of.
- Options; the folks at the Tarrytown House are pros at making sure your wedding is suited for you (For example, I was worried about getting married outside because of temperamental weather in August and there was always an indoor option. Also, the flow of our wedding from area-to-area worked out exactly as we hoped for.)
- Food (I eat salmon now because of the salmon served at my wedding).
Constructive Criticism:
- I found the event department easier to work with than the accommodations department for our room block.
- There was one policy that changed after our contract was signed and I was disappointed the old policy wasn't grandfathered in. (To be fair, staff worked with us for another after-hours option).
- Because the location is historic, there are more stringent rules about vendors, outside food etc.
Overall, I would recommend the Tarrytown House and am very happy we decided to get married there.
Our wedding at the Tarrytown House was truly one of a kind. Thank you to Antonio and Liz. It was the best day of my life. You guys are so patient, kind and loving. I could not have asked for a better team to help with this wedding planning process. Tarrytown House is a very special place. We are so grateful! Highly recommend!
The Tarrytown House Estate was wonderful! We worked with Liz and Antonio and they were awesome! They were both extremely helpful and responsive. They were easy to talk to and a calming presence the day of our wedding. All of our guests are still talking about how great the food was for both the rehearsal and the reception. The service was exceptional. We are so happy and couldn't not have asked for a move perfect experience.
Tarrytown is a BEAUTIFUL location. The setting is gorgeous. The food was amazing.
I did have issues with the actually contract and warn everyone to read the contract thoroughly and make sure everything promised is written in the contract. Also the day of the wedding the staff was not very helpful when there was confusion with table arrangements. Also several of my guests had specific dietary needs that I made clear ahead of time that were not followed (for example my mother has a nut allergy and her salad had nuts on it anyway). I would highly suggest the location but just caution everyone to be very specific in all contracts.
Truly spectacular. Even thought our wedding was rained in, and all indoors, the guests were simply amazed at how stunning tarrytown house was. Amanda did a great job coordinating with all the vendors to make it a stress free day =)
We had our ceremony and reception here. The setting is beautiful and guests raved about the food! We were planning the wedding from out of state and the staff was very accommodating. They have lots of experience with their recommended local vendors so the whole day was seamless.
HORRIBLE!!!!!! Beyond disgusted with management and staff. I have lived in tarrytown my whole life and I can not even believe the way we were treated like criminals. Security circles around you from the minute you arrive at the after party. Bar staff was rude and you could tell had no desire to be there. I know they have had changes in management but if they hope to last they better hire some capable management teams ASAP. It's almost like they don't want to do weddings which is fine but not after we have paid and entered a contract for a service. Good thing I live in tarrytown we will never use or recommend this establishment again for corporate or pleasure events. For someone that had the rehearsal dinner, wedding, after party, and brunch in addition to multiple rooms, at a loss of words for the lack of professionalism and down right lack of service that was agreed upon I would recommend looking else were if you want what you pay for and an enjoyable night. Thank god for my amazing vendors that made my night amazing despite the horrible venue.
Tarrytown House was a beautiful venue for our wedding. After a lot of searching it seemed the perfect place for our ceremony cocktail hour and reception. The majority of everything we had to do was very organized and timely. They were really good with communication the entire planning time. Reservations were a little hard because their reservation line is sometimes closed. There were a few things that I wanted to do myself the morning of my wedding but I was assured that Tarrytown would take care of it and that I shouldn't worry however those couple things that I really wanted to do myself did not happen the way I wanted them to and I wished I would have followed my gut and just done them. We couldn't have asked for better weather wedding day and all of our guests loved the hotel. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Overall we were really happy with the venue though it was pretty pricey especually because we also brought in our own caterer.
The Tarrytown House had amazing service. From the minute we started the planning process, right through breakfast the next morning, they had all the details covered. The reception was flawless and I did not hear one negative comment about our day. Dave was fabulous.
They did everything perfectly, Amanda was awesome to work with; and paid attention to every single detail (and there were a lot).
As a bride there are many things to organize while trying to stick to a budget. The Tarrytown House seemed like the perfect place. Everything was right on the premise and the place is beautiful. We had a wedding of 300 people and they were not willing to work with us what so ever. After all the add ons we included, the 167 rooms we booked there, the rehearsal dinner, and breakfast we had there for that weekend they would not even budge on giving us anything! They gave us a room for the night of our wedding but when asked if they would give us the room on Friday night as well ($169) they refused and said thats not policy. We spent $95 a head for the rehearsal dinner, $305 a head for the wedding, and $35 a head for breakfast. After all that i thought asking for a $169 room wouldn't be a big deal. We all asked to have a tv placed in the room for a video montage. It wasn't until Friday (the day before the wedding) when i handed over the flash drive full of pictures that i was told the TV was broken and i could use their AV team who is contracted out from the Tarrytown House for a small cost. Something that was supposed to be included. The day of the wedding the cake was put out in the room in the middle of a heat wave 6 hours before the reception. The cake started to melt and the tiers were falling when my photographer got someone to move it back in to the fridge! The place is beautiful and does have a lot to offer, including great food. Just don't expect to "make a deal" and make sure you keep on everyone that is running your wedding or things will more then likely slip through the cracks
From the moment my fiancé and I drove onto the grounds of Tarrytown House Estate, we were smiling from ear to ear. The winding drive up to the estate gives you the feeling of a destination wedding, without having to board a plane. The buildings are wonderfully different and architecturally beautiful. The sprawling grounds overlooking the Hudson River are gorgeous. And our first visit was in January – we could only imagine how much more spectacular it would be for our Fall wedding!
Since most of our wedding guests were from out of town, TTH was perfect, as everyone stayed on grounds for the entire weekend. Throughout the process, our wedding coordinator, Dave Smith, was fantastic. He was extremely friendly, professional, accommodating, and responsive to all of our very specific needs. He was always quick to return a phone call or email, even on his days off. He, along with the rest of the staff, provided 5-star service from the moment we first visited Tarrytown House until the time we drove off to our honeymoon.
We were lucky enough to get married outside in the Rose Garden. With green grass, flowers blooming, and the sun shining overhead, it really was a fairytale. From there our guests proceeded down the walkway to the Winter Palace, where they were greeted by servers holding champagne. Our cocktail hour filled both floors of the Winter Palace as well as the outside terrace. With multiple stations and plenty of food at all of them, most of our guests told us they thought there was no formal dinner, or they thought cocktail hour was dinner! Unfortunately my husband and I missed almost all of cocktail hour, but because we had asked Dave ahead of time, they saved us all the leftover food and brought it to our honeymoon suite. Both the variety and quality of the food was just exceptional. Our reception was held in the Mary Duke ballroom, which has old conference-style chairs and heavy velvet curtains; but once it was set for us, with flowers and lighting from our DJ, it looked beautiful and awesome. The bridal suite is up a staircase right outside the ballroom, which is very convenient before, during, and after your wedding. The dinner service was again perfectly executed, and the Maitre’ D was constantly monitoring the event to make sure it went off without a hitch. Things were run so smoothly that we were able to just relax and enjoy the great meal and party.
We continued the party at the Cellar Bar underneath the ballroom, which only overnight guests are allowed at – they are strict, and they do check! We also had a brunch the following day for all of our overnight guests in the Library/Sun Porch/Music Room, which was warm and comforting with a lot of delicious food. All of our guests raved about TTH, saying it was one of the nicest places they’ve ever been to for a wedding.
I can’t say enough about the staff at the Tarrytown House Estate - from start to finish, they were all wonderful. Everything about our wedding weekend exceeded our expectations and I can’t imagine getting married anywhere else!
Having my wedding at the Tarrytown House Estate was pretty much a fairytale. We had a beautiful Saturday day wedding in November and were able to have the ceremony outside, which allowed a view of the Hudson River. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is fantastic. Their professionalism and attention to detail exceeded my expectations.
The Tarrytown House Estate is truly amazing,we had our dream wedding! The Tarrytown House Estate offered all the we were looking for and more, beautiful views and grounds, option for cocktail hour outside on a gorgeous terrace or inside in the many quaint rooms, a two level reception area surrounded by windows over looking the beautiful landscape and an amazing catering manager to work with with the bonus of a hotel on site for our guests. They catered to our every need and more, staff was extremely professional and made our wedding the perfect day we hoped for. We HIGHLY recommend!!!
This venue is not only beautiful, but the staff is amazing and helpful, especially Dave! We got married a month ago and are STILL getting compliments on the venue!
