I really wanted to be able to leave a complimentary review, the barn itself is so magical and beautiful and I was so looking forward to having my wedding there and having all my gu...est see just how special the barn is. I tried to give the owners the benefit of the doubt because they were new to the wedding game and our wedding was only their 3rd wedding they were hosting. There were some communication issues along the way...the owners kept telling us it was ok to do something and then later would retract on what they had originally stated. We were told they had to provide the bartenders and that they would get back to me on the price, once they finally did tell me the price via email, they later tried to change the price during conversation. We were told certain renovations would be done before our wedding date and then were told 2 days prior to our big day that they would not be done. I was willing to look past all these trivial things because at the end of the day they are little hiccups and I didn't want them to ruin the most important day of my life.
When our day finally arrived, and our reception was well under way I notice John (one of the owners) walking around the dance floor with a decibel reader, it was about 8PM. Our dance floor was out on the deck because of the heat inside of the barn. He came up to me and told me someone was teaching him how to use it and in the back of my mind I could not understand why he was even there walking around the middle of the party. My DJ (my best friend’s husband, who came from Arizona to attend/DJ our wedding as a gift) notified me about 30 minutes later that John had approached him and threatened to call the cops if he did not turn down the volume, which he did. My matron of honor (my best friend and the DJs wife) after hearing about this went up to John and asked him if there was going to be a problem. John stated that he had never told the DJ he would call the cops that he said the neighbors would call the police and he asked her how she had heard that that was what he had stated. She responded that the DJ had told her and that was why she had come over to speak with him. John then proceeded to tell my matron of honor that the DJ was a liar, she quickly informed him that the DJ was her husband and that he was not a liar. Later in the evening John went back over to the DJ and whilst communicating with him shoved the DJ’s shoulder. My new husband had to go speak with the off-duty police officer that was on the premises.
Several guests, including myself also saw John behind the bar drinking the liquor that we were required to provide. It was also witnessed that the clean up crew that we paid for, provided by the barn, was also drinking our liquor. At no point throughout the evening did we ever extend an invitation for any of our hired help to get alcoholic beverages…..because they were working. We did offer them food and cake which in my opinion seems fair since they were also being paid. I find it highly inappropriate the way that John behaved being an owner as well as the cleaning crew.
We paid you to use your facility not for you to drink our alcohol and shove my DJ.
I will not be referring anyone to your establishment which is unfortunate because that place really is beautiful. I hope for everyone else’s sake that this doesn’t happen again.
