Wedding Venue in Closter, NJ
Holds ceremonies and receptions
The Hill is a gorgeous banquet hall and restaurant wedding venue located in Closter, NJ. Opened in 2018 by Chef Ben Pollinger in his home state, this establishment shows his experience of two decades in the New York City culinary scene. After refining his craft in several legendary restaurants and working with famed figures in the business, Ben offers a casual environment for you to enjoy elevated dining experiences.
The architectural and interior design of The Hill takes notes from Scandinavian minimalism. Its rustic farmhouse decor is framed by mid-century and industrial design elements and features warm earth colors and natural tones for a welcoming ambience. These include exceptional seafood and steaks, as well as game and vegetable-focused options. General Manager Lauren Orbe maintains a curated and varied wine list in addition to seasonal cocktails and high-end craft beers. She also applies her creativity and skills as she plans refined and one-of-a-kind private events. The available event spaces include the Dining Room, with its 16-foot-long solid white oak farm table and towering stone fireplace. The Loft, Lounge, and Patio offer additional options for your celebrations.
The Hill is available for your wedding ceremony and reception, as well as other celebrations like commitment ceremonies and second weddings. You can book an event space for an intimate occasion, or a full venue buyout for a larger event for up to 150 guests. With expertise at every step, this is sure to be an experience to remember.

Neighborhood gem in Closter! Came with a big group of friends and neighbors and had such a fun night. The steak was perfect and the cheesecake was insanely creamy (we had to do dessert).

We celebrated our 40th anniversary at The Hill for the first time, and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was outstanding, and our server Holly made the night feel extra special with her attentive and ...
friendly service. A perfect place for a memorable celebration — we’ll definitely be back!

I have been to the bar to have an afterwork drink and watch a game and the bar menu provided an elevated menu that was satisfying and craveworthy without being simply fried and salty like the typical bar food one finds at a local pub. The crowd...
was friendly and lively and the bartenders were knowledgeable as they provided both higher level mixologist options and opinions on IPAs. I have also eaten in the dining room which is homey and gorgeous, I did not realize The Hill also hosts weddings or wedding parties but that makes sense when you see the space. I usually go out for special occasions in Manhattan or locally in Jersey City or Hoboken but we travelled to Closter specifically because of the Chef Pollingers reputation and our meals at Oceana when he was in the kitchen. The dishes are well thought out and composed with intention. The plating is gorgeous and the portions are larger than what we remember in the city. The prices are reasonable for the high quality of service, atmosphere and food. I particularly enjoyed the fireplace and massive floral displays in the grand dining room. The food was why we came and as an omnivore I enjoyed all of the dishes from the tuna appetizer through the duck breast entree. My colleagues were vegetarian and they loved the on menu item (risotto) and loved the off menu items that the chef prepared on the fly (a true test of a skilled crew and welcoming establishment). They didn't just boil some vegetables or throw together a pasta dish, they took the time to create menu worthy entrees that would make us feel catered to. The deserts were amazing as well. We asked about the pastry chef and it seemed like Chef Pollinger may have had a hand in these as well. The molten cake and the strawberry tiramisu were both excellent. This is clearly a thumbs up review and a strong recommendation. I am thrilled that there are Manhattan worthy places to go without having to go to Manhattan.

Great place for a good moment with your loved ones.
The place looks very nice. The service was good and the restaurant is spacious.
The prices are normal based on the food and theme of the restaurant. Expect to spend within $50 - $100 per per...
son based on your choices.
Vast selection of wines and cocktails for all tastes.
Great food. I tried the short ribs. They were tender and juicy. My wife tried arrabiata pasta, which it was good.
My brother tried the NY strip, and we liked it a lot, even when I’m not a person who likes those cuts, I took a piece and it didn’t disappoint.
Finally, coffee and an almond cheesecake were great.
I recommend this place.

My single experience was okay, at best. I took my 8yo daughter for a date night and was looking for someplace local, but semiformal. There was plenty of available reservations 30 min before since my first choice was booked. The restaurant acros...
s the street had a valet line out to the road so I was shocked that The Hill's parking lot was only 25% filled (6:30 on a Saturday night — a bit early perhaps, but still only about 1/3 filled when we left at 8:00).
After walking in, the hostess had the charm of a turnip and seemed annoyed by us having the gall to show up and bother her at work. The service for the rest of the night was exceptional (save for when I was told she could not take my app order while taking a drink order because "they like all food orders to go in at once" ... I guess we'll wait an extra 10 min for that fried calamari while we decide on entrees.)
I asked for the NY Strip "rare to medium rare" since I want it red-centered and can't be uncooked ... It came out medium with barely any pink at the dead center and a heavily charred crust all around (I almost needed ketchup to mask the chat flavor). The mushrooms were exceptional however.
My daughter ordered only the Organic Greens (which she liked and devoured after having to add salt (is that a thing on salads?)) and I shared some of my steak but even she had enough of it after 2 bites.
Overall, great atmosphere visually, kid friendly (if they're behaved), and decently quiet, but very disappointed in the food. The best thing I consumed was the Old Fashion. My wife was facetiously upset we were going there because she's been wanting to try it ... I saved her the trouble.
This was based on only ONE experience, but with the vast competition within minutes, that's unfortunately all you usually get.
