The Kellogg House is a wedding venue located in Pomona, CA, only 35 minutes outside of the heart of Los Angeles. Initially built in 1926, the ranch-style estate is full of historic charm and a private setting for milestone occasions. Highlighted by a lush landscape and leafy walnut trees, the property is a natural oasis just a short distance from the vibrant city.

You can also say “I do” at the back of the estate while surrounded by verdant trees. After exchanging vows, your reception can take place in the venue’s spacious garden terraces.
The attentive team at The Kellogg House will be there to support you in the time leading up to your event and the big day itself. The culinary team is happy to prepare appetizers, such as skewered Caprese and chipotle-glazed shrimp, to be enjoyed prior to the reception. For the main meal, they can create delicious plates. Additionally, bartending services will be available for you and your guests to enjoy throughout your reception.

Even just trying to schedule a tour is a nightmare. People RARELY answer the phone. Christina is extremely passive aggressive and trying to get ANY type of information or clarity from her is like pulling teeth. I asked several times for a quote and she took several weeks to get back to me. When she finally sent me a quote it included nothing I wanted and it was for the wrong location. When I saw her again in person she was honest and told me that she just sent me something just to send me something. the worst customer service I've experienced since I started wedding planning.
The Kellogg House gave me the most beautiful wedding ever, combined with the worst coordinating team I could ever ask for.
The beauty of the Kellogg house shinning at night under the twinkle lights can only be rivaled by their terrible customer service. I could not for the life of me get ahold of anyone. When I say no one responded—NO ONE responded. It took me emailing the conference hotel center for me to finally get forwarded to Christina. The first thing she did was be condescending to me and make remarks about how ‘obviously it wasn’t hard to get ahold of someone if I am speaking to her”
Almost every time we would speak, she would complain about how her father didn’t help with her wedding at all and how I have it so easy that my father is helping me. My coordinator, fiancé And I toured the venue a couple weeks before the wedding and we toured the entire backyard in the dark because she “Didn’t want to go all the way into the basement and turn on the lights”. She also argued with me about the start time of my wedding, when I have it in writing what I said. She would argue with me about EVERYTHING. She even tried to short us on our 1 hr.30 dinner and I called her out. She gave me attitude about my rehearsal. It had been planned for months. Then she acts like we haven’t planned it and I said her and her team had set it up on Thursday months ago so I wasn’t changing it. In response to that she says, “Good because it’s my birthday Friday” & then later continued to complain about how I “last minute I changed my rehearsal”. The week of my wedding was the most stressful week of my life thanks to Christina Godoy. The weather and it showed no rain Saturday morning. Christina called me saying that she was reading something saying it was going to POUR?? They don’t tell you that they will force you into canceling your wedding or coughing up more money. I told her I didn’t want any of the options because literally everything said it would be sunny. She then proceeded to tell me that if I did not pay for a tent she would cancel our wedding because it would be a ”destruction of property” to move forward with the wedding because we are ruining all their stuff by getting them wet? All of the forecasts said Sunny and she was threatening me to cancel the wedding (it didn’t rain.)
I then talked to the lighting guy and he told me stories about all the weddings he did where it spontaneously starting raining during the weddings. Now I ask you Kellogg house, when it spontaneously rained during those weddings, did you charge the couples for a destruction of property? Or did your property not matter then because it was too late to shell out the money from them? DAY OF MY WEDDING: The day of coordinator was arguing with me when to start MY wedding. She even went so far as to, when I told her I had one more shot (a first look with my dad) she brought my dad in and almost ruined my first look.
And lastly when we were all in the tent the lights I paid for ALL went out. My coordinator went up to her and asked her why they went out and she said she didn’t know. She was not going to do anything about it! The lights had been off inside the tent for 10 minutes! It took my coordinator going off on her for her to finally call the tent guy. Kellogg house is beautiful but make sure you go with whatever they say because if you don’t they will do whatever they want anyways or they might just cancel your wedding for the hell of it.
I am a Cal Poly Pomona Alumni and had my wedding this past October. I waited a couple of months so I can write a fair and honest review.
ERROR ON WEDDING DAY: Okay, everything went smoothly but one thing. The open bar. I told the venue coordinator that I will pay up to 3,500. I said the bartenders can serve “Well” liquor, but if a guest orders “Topshelf” liquor, that is FINE. The guest just has to request that liquor. BUT it came to my attention that guests were PAYING for drinks. I am not sure where the miscommunication happened, but I was UPSET! To top it off my bill came out to 3,100 and there was no explanation to why some of my guests were being charged. They said no guests were being charged, but why would my guests tell me they paid for some drinks? Another thing I was charged for 4 glasses of wine, but I provided my own wine that should be the only wine being served. When I asked why I was charged for 4 glasses of wine, they said they were not sure and maybe a guest requested it. But it didn’t make sense because that type of wine is what I offered to guests. I think that is unethical business practice and they should have refunded that money since they had no explanation for it. I have emails to prove it as well.
SERVICE: Okay this is where they NEED to IMPROVE! The service and communication between the staff is not the best. Also it was so hard to reach the venue coordinator. But of course they were on top of it when a payment was due. Now, I know she had a lot on her plate and needed help, but it was so hard to reach her. I had to keep contacting the hotel so I could try to get a hold of the coordinator. When I did reach the coordinator she was apologetic and helped, but honestly, it was so stressful!
VENUE: The venue itself is gorgeous and I got many compliments about it. My guest also had to take a shuttle and I did not hear any complaints about that.
FOOD: The food was SOO good and people have told me it was the best wedding food they have had. I chose buffet style: Scalloped potatoes, lemon caper chicken, tri tip, cesar salad, and pasta salad. It came with bread and lemonade/iced tea. My only complaint is that they took the food away too soon. It didn’t make sense why they took the food away after 2 hours because I am paying for the food. Plus by the time the last table got their food it was about 2 hours. So how are guests supposed to go for seconds if they remove the food right away. The staff was not serving the food either so it didn’t make sense to me.
ADVICE: My advice is if you want to book this venue, then hire your own Coordinator! That will help tremendously. Also, I would book their vendor recommendations because they were amazing and they knew where the location was.
Due to the pandemic, I was not able to have my wedding at the Kellogg House, but the service I received during my year of planning during the pandemic was attentive and informative. I appreciate the staff at Kellogg House and all of their help.
As with some other 1 start reviews, my review is based on the customer service and my experience with the awful staff at Kellogg house.
If you want to work with staff that is warm and welcoming, you will not get it here. Jacqueline is an absolute nightmare to be around. Rude, condescending and clearly not concerned with ensuring the brides she is working with are happy and have their needs met. Unfortunately I was so wrapped up in how pretty the venue was I didn’t think to look at some of her reviews. A quick sweep across yelp and other various wedding sights will give you an idea. Even her responses to some reviews are snarky and unprofessional.
First and foremost the venue allows outside catering, but be warned if you do not use their catering there are many things you are then not allowed to do or have. When I went to visit the venue initially I was shown around by her then assistant Kristen who gave my planner and I so much misinformation. From things we could do, receive, along with alternate rain plans. We found out weeks before that this was all false. Was it remedied? Of course not
My wedding day there was rain in the forecast but it didn’t end up raining. However, the venue never laid our dance floor because when they came in the morning PRIOR to the arrival time of vendors (at 12) it drizzled. That is understandable but when it was noon there was no rain from then on. We should have had our dance floor laid at that time but it was not and again it was never remedied What is irritating is the fact that we were told we would not be refunded the $350 cost of what we were never given. Lawsuit waiting to happen.
On top of this the venue manager was there the day of sucking the joy out of the entire day, making things difficult for my photographer, and having a sour face the entire time. Thank goodness for my wedding planner and the venue’s assistant Sarah. Without them the day probably would have been ruined.
At the end of the day the venue is more concerned with the amount of money that they are going to squeeze out of you and not with making sure they solve issues they have caused or with making their couples happy. If you want to make sure you get your money’s worth AND work with someone who actually cares about making this day special avoid Jacqueline and the Kellogg house.
I will definitely be adding my review to every wedding site I can find so hopefully no one else has to deal with her atrocious personality.
Thank you so much Jacqueline and Sarah. I loved the venue so much it was the perfect place for our wedding. The staff was amazing. Jacqueline was great at answering all my questions and finalizing all the details for our event. Would recommend this venue and all the staff are to anyone looking at this venue!!!
There are definitely pros and cons associated with this venue.
Pros:
- The staff is SO attentive and helpful on your wedding day. They make sure everything associated with the venue runs smoothly and give VIP service to the bride and groom. The staff served my husband and I our dinner and both the venue coordinators asked my husband and I what alcoholic beverage we'd like to drink after the ceremony (and then went and got it for us!). The bartender gave us special attention by prioritizing us whenever we went up to the bar.
- The venue is gorgeous and the food is amazing. We got so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the venue was and how good the food tasted.
- The venue coordinator responds promptly to email and never lets anything slip between the cracks.
- You can do a lot of DIY at this venue to truly personalize your wedding.
Cons:
- This venue is reasonably priced for how beautiful and elegant it is. However, there are a LOT of upcharges associated with it. One of the upcharges that really bothered me was that you have to pay for glass wine glasses per setting. They only offer 150 stem-less glasses, but their venue has a capacity of 200, so why not carry your capacity? Our guest count was 164, so we had to pay for each wine glass at $1 per glass to have 164 stemmed wine glasses at each table setting. If you want the wine served to each guest (instead of pre-poured), you will need to hire servers at $25 each per hour to do so.
- While the venue coordinator is responsive, she is not the warm welcoming coordinator that you might expect as a bride. Her responses are curt and to the point (and sometimes make you feel like you're bothering her), and it's not the customer service you'd expect for paying a significant amount of money to get married here.
- If you plan to book a room block at the Kellogg West hotel, you can expect the absolute WORST customer service from the manager, Cameron. His email communication is extremely rude, and he makes you feel like you're a nuisance for bothering him. He gives bare minimum answers to everything and never once thanks you for your business.
- You really need to hire a "wedding coordinator" with this venue. The venue coordinators make sure everything at the venue runs smoothly. If you want to ensure that your wedding day timeline runs smoothly, you need to have a wedding coordinator do this for you. Trust me, it's much better than your friend or mom having to do it!!!
Overall though, I would recommend this venue. It was the perfect setting for our wedding day, and we had an overall positive experience.
The Kellogg House is a BEAUTIFUL outdoor venue for a wedding! We loved how cozy everything felt even while having a little over 180 guests.
In addition to the beautiful setting, Jacqueline and her staff made the planning process so much easier. We were specifically looking for a venue where we wouldn't have to source services and materials one by one and we were very happy with what the Kellogg House had to offer. Everyone loved the food, I was able to rent and arch and table numbers that saved me some time, and the day of coordination allowed for everyone to enjoy themselves without worrying too much about what was happening behind the scenes. Jacqueline even made sure my husband and I were able to eat the delicious dinner, have some cake to take home, and kept us hydrated on a warm July evening.
I also decided to rent the bridal suite to give the girls a little more time to get ready and our vendors a little more time to set up. It’s a lovely space and definitely worth it since it completely eliminated me and my bridesmaids having to run around getting hair and makeup done beforehand, instead the makeup artists and hairstylist were able to come straight to the venue so we could relax and spend a little more time together.
Thank you, Jacqueline and Kellogg House staff, for helping us put on such a memorable event!
We couldn't be happier with our choice to go with Kellogg House! They were always very responsive to all of our inquiries, and made things easy easy easy by providing the food preparation, wait staff, and bartending.
Perks that come to mind:
Honeymoon suite at the on-campus hotel (extended to 2 nights if there are no weddings the day before your wedding)
Plenty of options for customizing the dinner tables and the space
Great decor inside the house; great items available for free use
Highly professional staff. Even better than the service is the VIP treatment they provided to us the bride and groom once the reception started.
Beautiful outdoor space, and on our date in late June there was a lovely breeze while the sun was still up. From 4-10pm, the space was not uncomfortable weather-wise for a single minute.
Delicious food
Easy space to navigate for your guests. We recommend leaving the side space by the bar free of dinner tables and putting 4 cocktail tables in the space.
Beer available from Innovation Brew Works + provision for 2 bottles corkage per table is a great cost saver over paying for a cash bar. Also, this led to fast service, especially compared to weddings we've attended where bartenders spend up to 2 minutes making each signature cocktail while folks wait in line.
My best friend had her wedding at this venue this weekend and this venue has the most disorganized and unprofessional service that I have ever experienced. Sarah was the wedding coordinator for the wedding day and she arrived 30min before the start of the ceremony and did not send the shuttles to pick up the guests from the parking lot below so people were waiting in the hot sun for a long time. Once people arrived there were no directions given to the guests to take there seats so people proceed to wait in the hot sun longer. Once people begin finding their seats it was reported by guests that the coordinator was yelling orders at people. She also disrespected the mother of the groom and several members of the wedding party numerous times though the day while we were trying to keep things on schedule because things were so far behind. Every time we attempted to find the coordinator the other staff told us she was unavailable to speak to us so we had no idea what was happening the entire night. The staff was rude and would roll their eyes at us when we would ask questions about what was happening. Refreshment stations were not refilled for guests throughout the night and at the end of the night the leftover cake was thrown in a box and ruined. This venue is beautiful but NOT worth the money you will pay to have to basically run the wedding yourself.
My experience planning my wedding ceremony and reception at the Kellogg House was fun and stress free from start to finish. Jacqueline was always very helpful and quick to answer any questions my husband or I had. The packages they offer are great and include many of the essentials. The site itself is gorgeous with lots of greenery, and honestly did not need the addition of many floral arrangements to really make it shine. On the actual day the staff was so incredibly helpful and attentive, always making sure my Husband and I were okay and asking if we needed anything. I would highly recommend the Kellogg House to anyone looking for a beautiful outside venue for their ceremony and/or reception. We receive nonstop compliments from family and friends about how the venue was such a hidden gem and how delicious the food was.
Beautiful Venue. Was everything I wanted and more.
5/5 stars. Would HIGHLY recommend this venue for your wedding. Here are some top-level highlights:
- Working with the team pre-wedding was a pleasure. Via email, Jacqueline was detailed, prompt, and incredibly helpful. She sent us helpful reminders about things to do before the wedding. Sometimes, even sending us reminders for payments (thank you!!).
- The Kellogg team had everything under control during the wedding. NOTHING went wrong. I fully trusted the team with the night's festivities.
- Food options are great! Everyone LOVED the food.
- Price is competitive and truly the BEST we found.
- The venue was absolutely beautiful. We wanted the perfect backyard wedding and we were able to get that thanks to this amazing venue.
All in all, our wedding was the best night of our lives. The team at Kellogg and the venue itself it had A LOT to do with that. We are forever grateful for their help and ability to maintain such a beautiful property. We are thankful we had the privilege of celebrating our wedding there.
Thank you so very much, Kellogg Team!
Here are some photos from our wedding. This may help you see how photogenic the venue and the surrounding property is. http://www.jonathanyacoub.com/roujean-milad
Kellog House and its staff were a lifesaver for a couple that had to make a last-minute location change four months before the wedding date!
We worked closely with Jaqueline, Kellogg House Manager, to get our ducks in order from food, floor plans and contractual agreements. She was very professional throughout the entire process and was always prompt with her responses to our request and questions.
Kellog house was able to provide a shuttle service for our 100+ guest that brought them from the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and Kellog West Hotel to the entrance of Kellog House.
The outdoor floor plan for the ceremony and reception was able to comfortably fit our 110 guest count, which also included a dance floor.
The food was amazing! We served our guest the tri-tip and salmon options for dinner. The kitchen staff even prepared a small surplus of food in case anyone wanted seconds.
Kristen was the venue coordinator the day of the wedding, and she was very supportive of making sure we were on track to complete all the activities we were scheduled to participate in. She also made sure we were hydrated and took care of our personal needs during the reception. Kristen went above and beyond by helping us pack our gifts and personal items at the end of the event and drove our SUV back to Kellog West because we were a little tipsy (as expected). She is a classy gal!
Planning a wedding is an extremely stressful process with a giant payoff at the conclusion. The Kellog West staff was an enormous contributor to helping us achieve what we had planned for our wedding. I would highly recommend Kellog West as a venue location you consider as one of your top options for location, professionalism, and value.
Thank you, Jaqueline and Kristen, for all your hard work and help! CHEERS!
The only regret I have about the Kellogg House was that I didn't book them sooner- it would have been a great load off of my mind! Jacqueline is the venue manger and was our contact through the planning process. She made everything easy and answered most of my questions before I even had to ask them. Kristen was our day-of coordinator, and she saved me from stressing out as much as I otherwise would have.
We had a blast at the wedding, our guests enjoyed the food and raved about the Kellogg House preferred DJ, Primetime Music and Entertainment, and the preferred bakery, Some Crust Bakery (we were going to go with them, anyway- sooo good). The venue can be dressed up or down, and we were pretty minimal with our decor and it still looked beautiful. There are also lots of great spots for photography, both indoors and out.
This venue was such a great value for the price, and we still can't believe we had such a great wedding for the amount we spent.
Kellogg House was the perfect venue for my wedding!! I’d choose it again in a heartbeat.
Jackie was awesome the ENTIRE year leading up to my wedding. I asked a bazillion questions and she was quick to respond. Very professional and organized. It was very straightforward. I was never frustrated. Thank you Jackie & Kristen for all your help!
Site / Theme - The site is beautiful!! On the Cal Poly campus, hidden up on a hill in the trees. Site is spacious in the trees, great feeling away from the city. Beautiful scenery includes several backdrops. We used the house for Getting Ready Photos too. The venue allows brides to add a twist of their own style to the venue, I loved bringing my own décor. I’ve seen so many cute designs on Instagram. I went with Vintage inside & Rustic outside with dusty blue, white and greenery. I felt there were a lot of surfaces for the DIY Brides out there! Perfect for outside weddings, but with lots of inside space for guests to roam too. For example, guests can hang out in chairs/couches in the grand room. On cold nights I heard they even light the fireplaces! For me, it was a warm spring night and the party stayed outside with the bistro lights, twilight and dancing.
Food - Loved the catering! Loved sampling the food. Stress free! You have the option to bring craft beer from the Cal Poly Brewery! For the win! We even sampled the craft beers after the food tasting. The guests loved the craft beer! We brought Kellogg Wine in too. Fun to be able to offer Cal Poly Beer & Wine.
Weather - We were lucky enough to have warm weather in April. Weather is one thing you can’t control but knowing there were backup plans was helpful! 1) Heaters 2) Tenting in the front 3) Tenting in the backyard 4) Moving to the Kellogg West Hotel & Conference Banquet Room. I was comforted and stress free about weather knowing we had options!
Site Planning – The venue is open for Sat. morning tours, so it is easy to stop by again and again as many times as you need. Throwing that out there since it is a comforting fact if you need parents and maid of honor to stop by for viewing purposes.
Preferred Vendors – I used a few of the preferred vendors. I loved how the team worked together so seamlessly.
Hidden gem! My husband and I both went to school at Cal Poly, and I was lucky enough to visit the site as an undergrad for a tour, learn about the property and remember it during venue searching. There is a lot of charm about the Kellogg’s house. So happy we selected it!!!
Thank you Kellogg House Team!!!!
AMAZING! My now husband and I just had our Disney themed-wedding married at the Kellogg House on April 13, 2018. When we saw the venue, we immediately fell in love with the property and were surprised that most of the property was open for guests to walk around, inside and out. Jacqueline, Kristen and her staff are amazing. Jacqueline answered every question I had and responded so quickly. Kristen coordinated our wedding day and she did and incredible job! Everyone loved the staff working that day and they even danced with out guests when we cheered for them to join in on the dance floor! Our wedding day was perfect and it will be a day everyone won't forget. The food was also so delicious and was complimented by a lot of our guests. Thank you so much for everything! Jacqueline and Kristen, you really made our wedding day the best day of our lives!
Our wedding was absolutely amazing, there is nothing I would have had done differently. The staff were accommodating with the rain and everything flowed smoothly. They helped us find our vendors and were incredibly responsive throughout the process. I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone looking for an affordable and elegant location!
Finding an affordable and show stopping venue is not easy, but The Kellogg House is that and more! I came across The Kellogg House on wedding wire last year during my venue search. I immediately fell in love when I visited last December. The Kellogg House has an outstanding list of preferred vendors which we used for our wedding (Planner: Rebecca Calagna Events, Beverly's Best Bakery, DJ and lighting: PrimeTime Music). Through the entire planning process, Jacqueline the venue coordinator, was amazing to work with. She was always accessible, professional, and always communicated with us to inform us of deadlines. I was very much a DIY bride, creating my own centerpieces, photo booth wall, sweetheart table decor, and favors. The Kellogg House was so accommodating of my vision and on the day of, executed beyond my wedding day dreams! Our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful everything was, how delicious the food tasted, and how great our DJ was as well! If I could live out my wedding day again I would do it in a heartbeat! Thank you to The Kellogg House for making our wedding the absolute BEST DAY EVER!!
Just married on 9/23/17, and we had the most beautiful day at Kellogg House! Jacquie was AMAZING throughout the entire planning process and on the day of! Very organized, great with communication, and such a big help with everything. She ensured that everything ran smoothly- and it was perfect! The venue is so beautiful, and all our guests were raving about the beauty, the food and overall atmosphere. So thank you so so much Jacquie and the amazing staff at Kellogg House!
Love, Christopher and Christina
The Kellogg House was an amazing place to get married! Everyone fell in love with the location and the overall feel of the venue. Jacqueline was so organized and professional, she was amazing at responding back to all my questions. She helped keep the wedding moving smoothly with NO hiccups!!!
The Kellogg House has an amazing feel. The house itself is pretty cool and the backyard is spacious and can easily be used for both the ceremony and reception. The surrounding trees also make it feel very rustic and woodsy. The only issue I had with it is the 10 fwy in the background; the noise from the cars were too much for me to ignore as well as the cars in the background. It is an all inclusive venue which is amazing! And it is a great value! Great for a Spring and Summer Wedding! My fiance and I decided not to go with this venue not only because of the fwy but also because of the season we wanted to get married in; we were afraid that it might rain and we didn't want to pay thousands of dollars to rent tents.
Jacqueline isn't the typical bubbly, smiley event coordinator but if you have a wedding planner than you wouldn't have that much contact with her. I can definitely understand how people can get put off by her, but I also feel that she means well. Our tour of the venue was 15 minutes and it felt like a "lets cut to the chase" tour and felt less personal than other venues we toured.
I celebrated my wedding reception June 3, 2017 and booked the venue May 2016. The grounds are beautiful. Unfortunately the venue management lack basic customer service skills. We had various issues occur such as dance floor overcharge, maid of honor not allowed in during designated time, non-disclosure of important information, bar allowance confusion and overall poor customer service. If you decided to go with this place just be very patient.
The Kellogg House was a magical place to get married. My fiance and I had the time of our lives and the food was exceptional. Our ceremony took place in the backyard overlooking the trees and the reception was in the same area. It was perfect!! Jacqui the head coordinator was there to help every step of the way and always answered emails promptly. If you are looking for an outdoor wedding with great food, Kellogg House is the venue for you.
Jacqueline is very professional from the very beginning of communication, very timely in how she responds. On the day of our wedding, the timeline changed a bit and she was very well balanced between keeping guests happy but also getting the program going. The Kellogg House itself is very beautiful and they do a great job of upkeep! As we were searching for a place, the Kellogg House was by far the most affordable and valuable for what you get. I would highly suggest this place.
The Kellogg House was perfect!! It was an incredibly beautiful venue, both inside and out. I had an indoor ceremony and an outdoor reception, both of which were lovely. The venue made everything so easy and simple for us, with the bonus of being a great value. We were able to have our wedding, reception and even our honeymoon suite all under the same package, not to mention the tables, linens, silverware, chairs, dance floor, etc. (except cake, lights, flowers, photographer and dj) My new husband and I could not have been any happier with how the wedding turned out. Jackie the venue coordinator was also so very helpful. Before the wedding she would answer any and all of my questions very promptly. On the day of the wedding she was on top of everything at all times and made the big day that much easier! I would recommend The Kellogg House to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with package deals that included just about everything you need.
(4 and 1/2 stars) The Kellogg House Pomona is the kind of wedding venue that little girls dream of! It's an "all-inclusive" venue with enough space to host your marriage ceremony & wedding reception. The Kellogg House Pomona offers a one-of-a-kind experience for couples that want to create a memorable day with friends & family.
The Kellogg House was the perfect venue for our wedding with 170+ guests. Working with the coordinator was easy and the planning went smoothly. We appreciated being able to bring our own decor to set the right vibe however the venue alone is a beautiful setting. So happy we went with the Kellogg House!
The Kellogg House is an amazing Venue. When my husband and I took a tour, we instantly fell in love. We booked it right away for our wedding on Oct 7, 2016. We were on a tight budget and the Kellogg house offered us an amazing deal. Jacqueline, the events coordinator at the Kellogg House was a pleasure to work with. We had our own wedding coordinator and they both worked on our timeline. Jacqueline is very good with communicating with you when things are due, she gave us great vendor recommendations and always kept us informed about what we should be doing next in our planning process. The venue is not only beautiful, the food that they catered for us was delicious. My husband and I are still receiving comments from our guest about how delicious it was and how beautiful the location was. The house is near a freeway, but even so, we could not hear the traffic at all. We got married on a Friday at 5pm (total traffic hour) but again we did not hear any of it. So don't let that turn you away.
The Kellogg House is an absolutely stunning venue. The historic mansion is gorgeous enough, but once we saw the three tiered backyard we were sold! The food was incredibly delicious and so many guests were telling us how much they loved it. Everything ran so smoothly, and that's all thanks to Jacqueline, the venue coordinator. She is FANTASTIC. So professional, easy to work with, incredibly organized, and keeps the wedding moving perfectly! All of our guests complimented the Kellogg House, and I would 100% recommend it to any bride looking for a beautiful venue for a great deal.
We both loved the Kellogg House for our wedding. The venue is beautiful and set the tone we wanted just perfectly. The venue coordinator was awesome. She always responded to my inquiries almost immediately. The food was great and the service was great too!
The Kellogg House is such a beautiful venue at a very reasonable cost. The staff is extremely professional and the venue coordinator, Jacqueline is fabulous (very attentive - and handled any concerns we had).
With any wedding, there are just things you can't plan:
Example 1: such as extra guests that weren't invited (which must be common) - the staff handled it without bothering my husband and I and allowed us to enjoy our evening without any issues.
Example 2: weather! They are well equipped and experienced for weather-related issues. It rained on our wedding day but it was all sorted planned for when the big day came.
Jacqueline is invaluable. I'm sure she's seen more than enough weddings, but extra touches of seeing us off during the ceremony and congratulating us afterwards + the personal note she left us at the wedding suite was just amazing and very genuine.
And I must commend the staff. It's an extra plus that Cal Poly has a college of hospitality management because they were great. Food was spectacular and staff was great.
We had the most absolutely amazing wedding here, I don't even know where to begin. First off, it was easy to set up a meeting to scout the location. We were greeted by friendly staff, showed us around, answered all the questions we had. It was such a beautiful location, nestled away on the hillside. It overlooks the freeway but it didn't take away from the picturesque atmosphere. The package they provide was perfect, it included everything we needed, following the package made it so easy to plan the whole wedding. I have to admit that I wouldn't have been able to do it without Jacqueline, our venue coordinator. I think wedding coordinator is a better term since I fee like she did everything, made our lives so much easier. I was overwhelmed going into the planning process but working with Jacqueline took away any worries we had. One of my favorite parts, besides the actual wedding itself, was the food tasting. We took an afternoon off to have our food tasting, it was almost like a date for us! We met up at the hotel (such a nice surprise, having a hotel on campus!!) and had a private room where the courses were brought out to us. It was a very nice set up, so different than I had envisioned for a food tasting. Talk about the most amazing wedding food I've ever had. We received so many compliments about our wedding food. We also chose to buy craft beer through the venue and it was a huge hit. Everything went off without a hitch all thanks to Jacqueline. She was able to guide us, step by step, keep us on schedule. I had an issue with our DJ, we had to find a new DJ the week of the wedding, Jacqueline put us in contact with a great DJ who really got us out of a pickle! Everything from the food, to the table set up, acceptability to the house to take pictures, was absolutely perfect. While I am so happy with our choice of venue, which was also very reasonably priced, especially with all the extras that are thrown in, I have to admit that my favorite part of the whole experience was having someone I could depend on to help us with the process. It made it to where we actually enjoyed our wedding, felt like we were part of it. If you are considering this venue, I couldn't endorse it anymore. There was not one thing that I didn't love about any of it. I love Kellogg House and I love Jacqueline!
Could not have asked for a better day! The staff of Kellogg house made my guest feel taken care of at all times. Thank you Jackie and Lizzie for helping keep us on schedule as much as possible and making my vision come to life!
The Kellogg home has a charm that no other venue has. The backdrops for pictures are amazing. I don't think you can take a bad picture. The planning of the wedding with Jacquie was everything I could have asked for. She helped with many parts of the wedding, from layouts for seating, vendor choices that work well at the venue, and questions that we had, and we had many questions because we DIY'd a lot of the wedding and had to know measurements, etc. Jacquie was always quick to get back to us. On the wedding day, we didn't have to think about anything. She made sure everything flowed as we planned, and she kept us on time. The freeway noise was always a concern to me, but it turned out not be a problem at all. There was a slight buzz during the ceremony, but nothing that was overwhelming or took away from the ceremony. Once the music started...What Freeway? The price point on this venue is hard to beat with everything you receive. The food is the best I have had at a venue, and I have been to venue's that cost twice as much. I highly recommend the Kellogg Home and Jacquie! Thank you
I am so glad we chose the Kellogg House for our wedding venue!
From the beginning, Jacqueline was organized, helpful and very patient with my endless emails of questions. She asked me things I had not even thought of and always seemed one step ahead of me (impressive, since I consider myself an organized individual!) She made sure I had any information I needed and she was such a joy to work with. My parents enjoyed the tour of the venue and Jacqueline shared historical facts about the home and the Kellogg history.
The venue is BEAUTIFUL. The backyard is lovely and we opted to keep things really simple - the trees and beautiful white chairs looked so pretty! The tables were set up and napkins (your choice of color) were perfect! It was just like a fairy tale backyard wedding! The staff was organized and didn't let the extreme California heat keep them from getting things done.
We enjoyed walking around the property to take our portraits after the ceremony (there is never enough time for photos) and Jacqueline was very accommodating when I asked for just a couple more minutes. She brought us water during photos (it was 104 on our wedding day).
Jacqueline and her staff seemed to be everywhere all at once. Our sweetheart table had food on it for us with water -- and the FOOD. The food was INCREDIBLE. My husband and I have heard from numerous guests how amazing the food was and how people couldn't get enough of it.
I HIGHLY recommend the red potato salad and the tri-tip and Gouda potatoes for dinner.
Jacqueline kept everything on schedule, made sure my vendors ate dinner and made me feel like a queen. Basically she was my fairy godmother for the night.
The bar staff was cheerful and so much fun - they were quick and weren't skimpy on the drinks.
I can't say enough wonderful things about the venue, Jacqueline, her staff and the overall success of our wedding day. I am so glad we chose the Kellogg House for our wedding.
The Kellogg House is a great location to have a small to medium intimate wedding. Jacqueline, our coordinator did a great job of keeping everything on task and in order. She made us feel very comfortable the day of. She was very helpful and kept communication with us throughout the whole process. The venue has a very classy vintage ambience. They provided the catering and the food was great, although a bit pricey. They do not provide an open bar, however it made it easier to moderate alcohol consumption. We were also able to block out rooms at the Kellogg West Hotel, which made it easier for our guests and they provided my husband and I a free stay the night of our wedding in their two room suite with champagne! Overall, our experience with this venue was pleasant and our wedding was unforgettable. We definitely recommend the Kellogg House to anyone looking for a budget venue!
The Kellogg house was absolutely the perfect venue for our wedding. It is definitely one of more of the affordable outdoor venues in the area. The staff was professional and flexible when roadblocks came up. Extremely happy everything the venue had to offer. Got tons of compliments on the venue and food!
Site:
Kellogg West is an absolute hidden gem. I would not have known about it if my husband didn't go to school there. We didn't want a super traditional hotel or event venue. We wanted some place that had access to nature but still could accommodate our wedding size. They have a banquet hall that has glass windows and balcony that overlooks a grove of trees and the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains. The Cal Poly campus has ton of gardens and buildings to take pictures so this was a total plus.
Hotel:
The other thing that sold me was the hotel. We had a few guests coming from out of state so we wanted a hotel to be as close as possible. Kellogg West's hotel is located fifty feet from the reception hall. The rooms are clean and accommodating. They also has a boardroom where we hosted the rehearsal dinner and where my bridesmaids and I got our hair done the day of the wedding. It made everything very accessible before and after the wedding. Any decorations we loaded into our rooms and then walked them over to reception site the day of the wedding.
Food:
THE FOOD WAS AWESOME. Absolutely delicious. We had the chicken cordon bleu and the tri tip. It was all great. They had a ton of selection and the option to have buffet or plated. We did buffet because ALL of the food was delicious and we wanted the guests to try everything.
Service:
Our wedding coordinator, Cori, was so helpful! She answered all of our questions and was timely with appointments and answering emails. The staff was polite. The set up and take down was on time. I couldn't ask for better service.
Cost:
Affordable! I'm a teacher, my husband is a social worker and my parents are blue collar. Kellogg West was beautiful but the affordability of it was what sold me. They charge per person and that is really the only cost you incur other than alcohol. The menu and prices are available on their website so you can see for yourselves how much everything costs.
The Kellogg house is beautiful and very warm. The grounds are lovely.
We had an amazing wedding and reception at Kellogg House in October. Jacqueline was easy to work with and very organized, she was especially helpful during the event as she made the day run smoothly from the background. We did a lot of DIY for decorations which was challenging due to the short two hour prep time that they allow, but if you have non wedding party helpers you can make it work. Every single person who attended told us how beautiful the venue was. When we compared this venue with others of similar price the setting and staff were far and away better than the others. Everyone thought the food was very good as well. We paid $20 to taste a few additional items during our complimentary tasting which was well worth it. We could not have chosen a better location for our wedding!
We had our wedding reception at the Kellogg House in September 2014, and everything turned out to be so beautiful! We have always knew we wanted an outdoor reception, and we looked around a few venues that would work to pull off the natural rustic outdoor theme we wanted, as soon as we saw the Kellogg House for the very first time, we knew right off the bat this was the place.
The Kellogg House has a very beautiful 3-tier level backyard that is surrounded by trails and trees on the hill, the interior of the house is so beautiful and has so much historical elements, therefore very minimal decoration was needed. The outdoor reception turned out to be gorgeous especially during night time with all the bistro lighting up. We had a great experience working with the staff, our reception went very smoothly the day of thanks to their kind and helpful team. Jacqueline the venue coordinator was stellar, not only she had been helpful throughout our entire planning process, she was professional and responded very quickly to all our questions and enquiries just so we can have a peace of mind knowing everything was in control as we didn't have a wedding planner.
Everything turned out to be fantastic in the evening, everyone danced the night away and we continue to receive compliments from friends and families on how beautiful and classy the venue was!
I was torn between this venue and another. The deal breaker came down to customer service. Though the kelloggs house was slightly more of what i had envinsioned, the other staff was so warm and helpful and this one not so much.
Although the actual venue was fantastic and well liked the coordinator Jaqueline caused a bit of a headache. She lacked clear communication throughout the planning of the event. She did not clearly outline what her role was from the beginning, i.e. that she would also act as "wedding coordinator", not just as our contact for the Kellogg House; specific tasks to be performed during the rehearsal, as well as the amount of people we were allowed to bring to the rehearsal (this was requested one hour before we were due to arrive). As the wedding date approached her attitude seemed to sour, which of course was even experienced during the wedding. In fact, anyone who had come into contact with her during the rehearsal and even guests during the wedding noted how bad her attitude was. Because of her lack of communication we had planned our own procession since we had no idea she would be handling this for us, to which she was clearly unhappy when we told her. When I told her we had no idea she responded with a very snooty "yea, that is my job". Although she does this every day, we do not (considering we will only get married once). It seemed her assumption was that everyone knows how to coordinate and execute an event such as this, just like she "does". I believe the lack of communication was a result of this attitude on her part. The "icing on the cake" was when at the end of the wedding she placed our wedding cake into a used Newcastle Beer box (12 Pack) which was not even labeled! Although she claimed to have told not only the bride and groom but also "all of our family members" no one had received that message. The result was the two of us coming home to find our cake was ruined. I E-mailed her to tell her of this quite troubling mishap and she responded only to blame our cake vendor for not giving her a pastry box to put it in. Complete disregard for her responsibility in the ruining of the cake. She claimed the Kellogg House does not carry pastry boxes. For $16,000 plus you would think they would be able to foresee this sort of problem occurring or at the very least label the beer box she decided to put it in. We also did not receive an apology for the staff dropping two champagne bottles (which shattered) on two of our guests feet. Furthermore, my father had to tell the staff to return the champagne glasses for the toasts because the toasts had not even been performed yet. Our cupcakes (which served as our cakes for the guests) were also not served to our guests and we were not "allowed" to even display the cakes before the cake cutting because according to Jaqueline: "Everyone would eat them". Well, thats sort of what they are there for and they weren't served anyways! The experience at the Kellogg House was good, but it could have been great. The experience with the "wedding coordinator" as she began to call herself was absolutely horrible, and was far below the standard I'm sure CalPoly strives for, and certainly not adequate to be in the position she is in. I have yet to receive a response from management concerning this.
The venue was everything I expected and then some! Everything I envisioned and dreamed about was apart of our wedding.
I got married and had a reception at the Kellogg House on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona on July 4, 2013. My wedding reception was the most magical, memorable and stress-free experience of my life. The venue was absolutely breath-taking. The girls at The Kellogg House were so flexible and accommodating throughout the six month planning process. They worked extremely flexibly and professionally with all of my other vendors. When the day came, they were there and responsive to our every need. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful and even served me and the groom our dinner because we were chatting with guests and didn't have time to hit the buffet line. The food was absolutely incredible. I've had almost every guest I've spoken with since the wedding comment on what a WONDERFUL venue that was. I feel so pleased and fulfilled by the whole experience and would recommend the Kellogg House as a venue for a wedding with my whole heart. If I had to plan my wedding all over again, I'd go with the Kellogg House every time :)
I also was impressed by the hotel/conference center. I'm from Cincinnati, OH and had thirty hotel rooms occupied by guests and we had SUCH a GREAT time laying by the pool, hanging out together and all staying in the same place after the wedding.
