My daughter was married at the Liberty Hotel at the beginning of November. We cannot say enough about the Liberty Hotel experience. It is a fun venue with endless character and a fantastic location. The team was a pleasure to work with. Maria Vega helped us through the entire process and thanks to her and the team, the entire weekend went flawlessly. Everyone who worked at the event was friendly and knowledgable. We held the welcome reception, ceremony, reception, after party and brunch on site - it was so convenient for our out of town guests. The food was also outstanding. We highly recommend the Liberty Hotel. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
We had our wedding at the Liberty in October 2023 and can't say enough good things! We had a wonderful experience. All of the catering, hotel, and Clink staff went above and beyond to make sure we and our guests had an amazing weekend. Maria was wonderful to work with- responsive, super friendly, and really went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly for us. We were able to hold our ceremony in the courtyard and it was stunning. It's such a unique venue, there's really no other venues in the area that compare. We held an afterparty and welcome drinks at the lobby bar and had a great experience with that as well. We even got upgraded to the Ebersol suite which was gorgeous and an amazing setting to get ready in. We can't recommend the Liberty highly enough!!!
Everything about our wedding at the Liberty was perfect. The team was experienced, professional and took care of absolutely everything. There was not a moment in the day that I was concerned about anything related to the event. The food was incredible - some of the best wedding food I’ve ever had. I’d recommend this venue to any bride.
Any questions?
It's impossible for me to put into words how happy we were with our wedding at The Liberty. From our initial meeting with Ashley Beck through the 11 months of planning, I never once doubted that this team wouldn't deliver. Ashley was an absolute God's send throughout the entire process. Through 172 email exchanges, she never once made me feel like a bother; her responses were incredibly timely, helpful, kind, and gave me more reassurance than necessary that she would execute perfectly on our day.
The entire Liberty team was flexible, helpful, and amazing - leading up to our day and the day of (as well as the few days after). From ensuring both suites had everything we needed the morning/day of, to making small menu/drink changes for specific people due to restrictions, and generally just making our guests feel welcome.
Now beyond the entire team being fantastic, I cannot say enough about the aesthetics of the venue. Having been to The Liberty several times, I knew it was unique. For our guests who had not been there (and even those who had), we had so many compliments. Obviously the history is one piece, but the cocktail hour on the rotunda is amazing and had people talking for days. The ballroom is definitely a bit smaller than some others, but they set-up in a way where it doesn't feel too crammed and instead feels perfectly packed (we had 158 guests with a mix of table sizes). Due to the time of the year, we were unable to have the ceremony in the yard so held it in the ballroom. Ashley and team took my vision (involving LED candles and uplighting) and executed perfectly. My one qualm with the ballroom is the carpet (it's a bit busy) which Ashley knew so the team graciously offered to put the dance floor down for the ceremony as well.
Not only does The Liberty provide a unique and stunning venue with excellent customer service, but they also provide wedding food that is to die for (and this is coming from someone who has been to over 25 weddings). Over three weeks later, we still have our guests talking about our appetizers (namely, the shrimp tempura) and the dinner. The miso-glazed salmon was said to be the most perfectly cooked piece of salmon ever by multiple people. As a tip - choose the hand cut rigatoni for your vegetarian dish and be sure to highlight the ingredients on your meal selection cards; we had almost more guests opt for this dish than the chicken/fish and I am still thinking about how good it was to this day.
I could truly go on for hours about how perfect The Liberty is for a venue and how much of a pleasure it was working with Ashley. This was the first venue that I looked at and nothing else compared throughout the process and I truly believe nothing else could compare after the fact. I would do it again with this team 10x over. I highly recommend!!!!
The Liberty truly made our dream wedding a reality. Working with Ashley Beck was one of our best fortunes during the planning process - she truly makes everything so easy and pleasant. The venue speaks for itself - it's an incredible space. We had our reception in the courtyard, cocktail hour on the 5th floor rotunda, and reception in the ballroom and it was all perfect. The staff here are also top notch, and will accommodate everything possible to make the night perfectly tailored to you. Everything flowed throughout the night. The staff, and efficiency of how perfect everything flowed, was our greatest compliment of the evening.
The Liberty did not disappoint as a venue. From day one, Ashley, our wedding coordinator, was so easy to work with and made the last year of planning fly by. They were attentive and answered all questions very quickly. The ball room was the perfect size for our 156 people, a photbooth, a live band and double bar. The courtyard ceremony was beautiful with the fall colors, cocktail hour being up on fifth floor was amazing too. Highly recommend!
The Liberty Hotel went above and beyond in everything for my wedding. Ashley Beck and the entire crew was just amazing. The wedding went perfectly and was so beautiful. We plan to do a cocktail party here to celebrate with people who could not make it that’s how much I love this place and the entire team!!
So happy we picked The Liberty Hotel for our wedding day. From the day we went to toured the venue and met Ashley, our coordinator, we knew we would be in good hands. This venue pays attention to all details and truly allows you to make your day the way you envisioned it – service is on point, you feel as if you’re the only couple they are dealing with. We originally planned to be married in January but due to covid we switched and thankfully that was so easy! Ashley and her team worked out all different ideas with us to keep things covid friendly, but also make it our own. Ashley even took time out of her busy schedule to help me with prepping prior. The Liberty gives the couple the Charles River Suite which is breathtaking for the day/night, and the guys were able to hang there all day to get ready. They set up a second room for the bridal party with a full-length mirror, chairs, tables – made it our own private little getaway. From there Ashley guided and watched over us all day, lots of texting and quick responses from her. The ceremony was in the yard and set up perfectly, cocktail hour on the rotundas and reception in ballroom – great use of all space for us and the guests. Our guests are still raving about the food, literally told us, “best wedding food ever!" Your guests also can come early and have a drink or lunch at one of three restaurants, many of ours did. The venue itself is the best for pictures and easy walk to Beacon Hill. The whole vibe is just amazing. Our day ended up perfectly – on schedule, no hiccups, beautifully done = just what any bride/groom would want!
The Liberty was amazing! My husband and I were married in November of 2019 and worked with Ashley. We had a long engagement, however throughout the planning process they always made us feel special and like we were the only wedding they were doing! Very responsive with emails, and so patient with our decisions and questions. We appreciated their flexibility and willingness to do as much as possible to make sure we were satisfied, whether it be with decor, the guest list, or the food/drinks! We've been married 6 months now and we still get compliments on the food and signature drinks (one of which Ashley suggested). Such a beautiful, fun venue in a great location. We lucked out with beautiful weather and Ashley was with us every step of the way on our day!
We absolutely loved The Liberty Hotel. We were pleased to find that they offered creative ways to make our wedding affordable as well offered many options to make the day unique (Sunday brunch options, welcome bags, AV options during cocktail hour). Part of our package included a suite for the night of our wedding which was awesome. We were also provided a separate area for the groomsmen for get ready. The weekend of our wedding was executed seamlessly. Our coordinator Bridget was on top of everything all weekend from our rehearsal all the way through our wedding. The weather was iffy and she was gracious in handling the potential change to an indoor ceremony. In the end we were able to have it in the courtyard as planned and she worked hard to ensure all seats were dry and there were no puddles. The hotel is so unique and provides a lot of cool picture opportunities. The food was amazing day of and the tasting was really fun as well. The cocktail hour on the rotunda was excellent and it was nice to have everything in one location. This was especially nice for older guests who could easily retire to their room early if needed. The one area that could have improved was the timeliness of our coordinator’s response to email, on occasion it was challenging to get in touch. However, the top notch way things were executed on the day of made up for this. Would highly recommend this hotel for your wedding!
We got married just after Christmas, so we got to make use of the stunning upside down Christmas trees in the Liberty's lobby, but this venue is stunning in every season! The food and service were second-to-none and the hotel staff was beyond lovely. From initial planning meetings to having our name up in lights on the big day, the team there really took care of every detail. Additionally, we got married in the ballroom and the turn over from ceremony to reception was quick, efficient, and beautiful! Not to mention the cocktail hour on the top floor rotunda! The layout is unique, but honestly so good for socializing with guests - the same can be said for the 4th floor brunch we held the next day! We were so thrilled with everything, but most especially with Ashely Beck!! She's a true rockstar and our day would not have been the same without her!
Get married at the Liberty Hotel! We got married here in early August. It was hands down the best day of our lives :) The Liberty was amazing in every way! Their service was top notch. It is such a unique place and sure to awe everyone who steps into the lobby for the first time. It was also so nice having the ceremony, reception and hotel all in one building. We didn't have to worry about transportation and it was so convenient for our guests. Our wedding coordinator, Lynette, was AMAZING! We are so grateful for her and couldn't have asked for a better experience with her. THANK YOU, LIBERTY HOTEL!
The Liberty was everything I could have asked for in a wedding venue. The hotel and decor speaks for itself! The staff was absolutely attentive and sweet throughout the whole evening. Can’t wait to return for years to come.
We had our wedding at the Liberty Hotel on a Friday in May 2019 and simply put, it was the best day thanks to Bridget and the Liberty staff. We had our ceremony and reception in the ballroom and cocktail hour on the 5th floor rotunda.
The venue itself is beautiful and the atmosphere of the hotel contributed to the energy of our wedding and allowed us to keep the party going even after the reception ended - the lobby bar area serves for a great after party location! Our guests loved the history of the hotel, the space and are still commenting on how it made for such a fun and beautiful wedding.
Bridget was fantastic in the planning process and during the weekend. She held my hand throughout the entire process and was patient with my many questions. On the weekend of the wedding, she flawlessly executed by making sure everything happened exactly as it was supposed to. The rest of the Liberty staff is fantastic as well, accommodating to our guests' needs throughout the entire weekend. The waitstaff during the wedding catered to the needs of our guests, as well as a few dietary restrictions and serious allergies. Our guests had nothing but positive things to say about the food, the staff, and the service.
Would absolutely recommend the Liberty to anyone looking for a beautiful and FUN wedding at a reasonable price.
We had a wonderful wedding weekend at the Liberty Hotel! We held our ceremony, reception and post-wedding brunch there. Bridget was patient and accommodating during the planning process. The weekend went smoothly as Bridget, Daniel, Mercy and the rest of the hotel staff were attentive all weekend long. Our guests were wowed as soon as they checked in and saw the hotel's multi-story rotunda, received champagne at check in and then went to their modern rooms with beautiful views of the city or the Charles River. The only complaint from some of our out of town guests was the $57 charge for overnight valet parking---we did tell them in advance of this price and explained it was normal for this part of the city. We loved the food options that the hotel offered for our event and their sensitivity to our guest's various food allergies and dietary restrictions. Our wedding photos in the rotunda, outdoor courtyard and the surrounding Beacon Hill neighborhood are one of a kind. Thanks for everything!
Would have a wedding over and over and over again at the Liberty. First, because I know it's on couples' minds when they're doing their initial search: we looked at several venues at the Liberty definitely had the most bang for our buck. It was luxury, top notch service, food, and scenery for less than other venues in the heart of Boston cost.
Now to experience: our guests absolutely RAVED about how beautiful and fun our wedding was. We even originally planned to have the ceremony outside and moving it inside did not sacrifice its beauty one bit. The photos are absolutely gorgeous and the wedding staff was AMAZING with whom to work. I do not have enough great things to say about Jacob, our event manager. He was so responsive to my 8 MILLION emails during the planning stage and extremely responsive the entire weekend we stayed at the Liberty. He keeps telling me I was totally fine and not to apologize but I just know I was a very high maintenance, intensely scheduled bride and he was so patient, friendly, and on top of things. The catering staff at our wedding was extremely friendly and helpful and the food was SO amazing. Those tacos... don't even get me started. Forget what people say about not eating at your own wedding - I was an absolute happy cow by the end. Our guests have told us, repeatedly, how great the food was too!
It also is a HUGE help to have everything in one place. Our whole wedding party and family stayed at the Liberty which made coordinating so much easier.
On top of everything, we had a few issues with some customer service with ancillary hotel staff and when I brought that to Jacob's attention after the wedding, I was almost immediately contacted by the Liberty manager who could not have been more gracious in apologizing and doing whatever he could to make sure we felt completely taken care of after our wedding. I have no doubt those experiences were isolated and will not happen again when we stay for our anniversary!
Not only is the Liberty Hotel an amazingly beautiful location, the people who work there make the process so easy. It was fantastic to have the ceremony, reception venue, and catering all in one place. Bridget was so kind and approachable and all around amazing to work with - especially considering we live in Hawaii and planned our wedding in Boston. The setting was fabulous and the food was BEYOND incredible. I am so beyond thrilled with The Liberty.
The Liberty Hotel is a very special venue to me and my husband. We have celebrated anniversaries, had staycations and even got engaged at the Liberty Hotel. So it was obvious where we were going to have a wedding. We booked the venue in May 2016 for our wedding on 8/18/18. We worked with Bridget Luddy from beginning to end. She was enthusiastic, responsive and helpful throughout the whole process. She became a friend and somewhat a therapist when I was freaking out. Bridget's opinions were very helpful when we had to make decisions. She was like the perfect wedding planner that came along with the venue. During that day, everything was organized and she kept us happy and calm. Daniel and Mercy who are a part of the food/beverage team were very helpful throughout the night as well too. We had an American-British-Chinese wedding, and all the guests from the various cultures enjoyed their whole night. We received multiple compliments on how good the food was from start to finish ex. "everything at the cocktail hour was delicious, meat was cooked perfectly and creme brûlée was amazing." Good thing we do not have to go through this whole process again, but we highly enjoyed working with Bridget and the Liberty.
Absolutely stunning venue especially in the winter when they have the upside down Christmas Trees.
We got to use all the areas of the Hotel for our first look photos. We loved being on the rotunda with the big windows.
Stefanie, our coordinator, was very attentive and answered all my questions and offered several great suggestions and advice. She made the day run smooth and made sure we were okay throughout the whole day.
The Liberty has several events during the week, so our wedding had a built in after party because there is a DJ in the Lobby from 9:30pm to 1am.
You can't beat the location, right in the heart of Boston. There are so many places to visit and sites to see. The red line is right outside the door along with the Charles River.
I would highly recommend the Liberty to host your wedding. It will be a day you never forget.
We had both our ceremony and the reception at the Liberty Hotel on 10/6/2017. I have to say that I am so lucky that I was able to book the Liberty for my wedding. It is an absolutely phenomenal venue. The hospitality was wonderful from the minute we stepped into the hotel. We worked with Stefanie who was wonderful (and patient) in helping us plan the wedding from across the country. The flow of the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to the reception was flawless and my guests are still talking about how much fun they had! The actual hotel itself has a great vibe (fun, but fancy too). I would highly recommend having your wedding at the Liberty!
One thing that I would recommend, is watch the weather about one week ahead of time. If it looks like rain and you're planning on having your ceremony in the outdoor courtyard you may want to start thinking about having it in the ballroom. I learned that if it rained at the time of the ceremony and we needed to have the ceremony in the ballroom, guests would have needed to sit at their tables as there would not be enough time to rearrange things. This is likely something you and your coordinator will discuss in the week before the wedding. Luckily for us, it drizzled slightly before the wedding, but was dry for the ceremony. The ballroom itself is stunning for a ceremony as well!
The Liberty Hotel was the perfect venue for our city wedding. We looked at many venues in the city, but the Liberty had the unique aesthetic and the vibe we envisioned. Many of our guests were from out of town and stayed at the Liberty, which was very convenient and fun. Bridget, the event coordinator for the Liberty is professional, accessible, and super sweet. We had the ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour up on the 5th level of the Rotunda, and dinner in the Ballroom. We were the only wedding that weekend which was great. The event staff was fantastic. My only caveat would be that hotel staff’s priority was to serve the hotel guests not the bride and groom or wedding party. Also if you opt for welcome bags they must be delivered to guests rooms during a certain time window for a fee – several of our guests never got them which was disappointing. Nevertheless the Liberty is an incredible venue and I highly recommend it.
The Liberty Hotel is an AMAZING venue! We had the ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour up on the 5th level of the Rotunda and dinner in the Ballroom. Every space was so inviting. The staff provided great service. My guests couldn't say enough nice things about how good the food was or how amazing the spaces looked. Highly recommend them!
We were so lucky to have found The Liberty Hotel and their wedding coordinator, Bridget Luddy. Our experience planning our wedding from across the country went so smoothly and Bridget was there to answer my multiple question-filled emails quickly and thoroughly. Our guests loved the unique venue and we had an amazing time.
I will start off saying that I could not be happier!! This venue is so unique and stunning. My mom and I worked with Bridget Luddy, the hotel event coordinator, who was fabulous. She had great suggestions, was always willing to meet in person, and was open to making anything we wanted work without any hesitations. Bridget is so easy and approachable both in the planning process and on the day of. Mercy Budka, the hotel director of banquets, was equally fabulous on the day of, for our tasting, and for the brunch. My husband and I truly felt waited on hand and foot like royalty for our wedding. This was above and beyond what I have noticed at other weddings I've attended in the past at varying venues. We had our ceremony off site at St Joseph's Church, the cocktail hour in the 5th floor rotunda, and the reception/sit down dinner in the ballroom. Everyone was raving how cool the rotunda and all the brick was for our cocktail hour in addition to all of the food/pass around apps (especially the lobster roll). The ballroom was gorgeous. We went with amber uplighting and it looked amazing. All our guests could not believe how delicious the food was as well (everyone got the tenderloin except vegetarians). We had 140 guests and it felt like a perfect fit, I'd say 2 more 10-top tables would be ok to add but wouldn't do too much more. I would not change one thing from the day and arguably the venue is the most important choice. I highly recommend the Liberty Hotel for their class, the unique and very Boston ambiance, and their staff. I am hoping to spend a night on our first anniversary here!
My daughter chose the Liberty Hotel for her May 2017. it was more beautiful than i ever could have imaged. The Team there were incredible to work especially as things got closer. I was the MOB and had the tasks of managing the budget, room blocks, reservations. All my requests were granted including specific rooms, check in times. During the wedding I felt like a Queen for the day. Thanks to Christina and Mercy for their attention to all the details. A truly spectacular venue with a top notch wedding staff. Wonderful venue.
I can not begin to say enough positive things about having a wedding at the Liberty Hotel. We were unsure at first whether to choose this venue but kept coming back as we looked at other Boston Hotels. There is something unique about the Liberty. All our requests and accommodations were honored. They have a stellar team. Special kudos to Christina Chunias our Event Planner and Mercy Budka our Banquet Manager. They both watched out for our entire family and bridal party during our hotel stay and during the wedding reception. They checked in frequently to see if we needed anything. They both took great care to organize all our special effects from home. Highly recommend them.
The Liberty was absolute PERFECTION!! We worked with Bridget Luddy and she was beyond helpful; providing suggestions when needed, accommodating all of our requests and making sure our wedding day ran smoothly. We held our ceremony in the "blue room" on the 4th floor due to inclement weather and it was beautiful! Cocktail hour took place on the 5th floor rotunda and our guests loved it! Our reception was in the ballroom and we, along with our guests were blown away by how everything came together! The aesthetic throughout the hotel is stunning and so unique. Every need we had the day of our wedding was met with professionalism and a level of care that was second to none! Our family members and guests are still raving about the food, ambiance and magnificence of the whole weekend!! We cannot thank Bridget and the staff at The Liberty enough and strongly recommend this venue for any event!!
This venue and the coordinator, Bridget Luddy were AMAZING. As soon as I walked into the hotel, I knew that’s where I wanted to have our wedding. All our guests raved about how stunning the hotel was and how incredible the food was. I was freaking out about getting everything done the day of the wedding and Bridget just took care of everything. We must have texted each other a dozen times that day for a number of last minute things and she was so responsive and always calm with a smile on her face. She was also a great sport about my 12-year-old stepdaughter who really wanted to help setup the ballroom. We got married outside in the Yard and then had our cocktail hour in the Rotunda, followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing in the ballroom, where Bridget was thoughtful enough to bring me my flats and her coworker made sure I was eating. The venue itself is breathtaking and the food was incredible. My husband and I love to cook and eat and we were nervous about the food quality, but after our tasting we knew we had nothing to worry about. I can’t wait to return to the Liberty for our 1st anniversary.
If you're looking for a unique hotel that is luxurious and not intimidating then The Liberty Hotel is your best choice. From the moment we walked in to meet with our wedding planner Bridget Luddy, we knew we had found our wedding venue. The hotel's architecture, details and bold decoration are breathtaking.
Bridget quickly understood what we were looking for: luxury, sexy, chic, fun and young. Throughout the whole wedding process she was super attentive, clear and made sure we stayed within our budget. She was also great when handling communication with our vendors, which is super important!
The hotel offers different spaces for your event, which is great because depending on the size of your wedding you won't feel it's too big or too small. We had an intimate wedding of over 40 people and the space was perfect!
Our ceremony took place on the 4th floor (which includes: four rooms, the rotunda and private bathrooms). After the ceremony which took place in the pre-function area of the 4th floor, all of our guests went to the rotunda (talk about stunning) for cocktail hour. After my husband and I finished taking our photos, everyone was invited to West Cedar for sit-down dinner. The food was spectacular, we got compliments all night! (we served a combination of seafood, chicken and red meat).
Now the fun part: DANCING. While everyone was enjoying dinner, the pre-function area was transformed into the dance area and the Chestnut room was converted into a "tavern" with an open bar and tables. Bridget made sure everything ran smoothly and that all set-up was just the way we wanted it. The bartender was spectacular, the music and lights (JC Castaneda from 617 Weddings) were AMAZING, flowers were gorgeous (Blue Guava) and the staff was super attentive. We danced for like 3 hours before passing delicious late night snacks. After the wedding was over we all went to the lobby to continue partying! That's the great thing about this hotel, even though your "wedding space" is reserved for a number of hours, you can always go to the lobby to continue celebrating. The next morning we had brunch at the 3rd floor rotunda. The food was delicious (as expected) and so were the mimosas and bloody marys.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience! Our friends/family are still talking about how much fun they had and how the hotel was so gorgeous. We can't wait to go back to celebrate our anniversary!
Our wedding was perfection. The Liberty is such a unique and beautiful venue and the food was impeccable. Our guests were all floating on air. Bridget Luddy, the coordinator was simply amazing. ALL of her recommendations for vendors were terrific and she came through with both an amazing seamstress and a fantastic last minute JOP. There were some issues with our room block and guest frustrations when booking but Bridget helped smooth everything out. So glad I chose the Liberty to get married and will be returning to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.
Horrible experience from the beginning. No follow up, when I arrived to see the venue at my own effort Renee didn't even introduce herself or asked me anything, when I told her her colleague had not been responding to my emails she said nothing nor offered any help. The venue is beautiful but for the amount of money and the importance of my wedding day it is imperative that follow up, responsiveness and professionalism is there. I will not book this hotel as my venue and am so glad I found out how bad they were before I gave them any of my money. Even the valet attendant was rude, do yourself a favor and shop for customer service as it will Impact your whole experience
Overall, I'm so happy we had our wedding at the Liberty Hotel. I really wanted our venue to be something different, not just a nondescript nice hotel, and Liberty Hotel definitely provided that "wow" factor for guests.
We had our ceremony outside in the yard, which was beautiful on a nice day in October. Cocktail hour was on the top floor rotunda, and reception in the ballroom. The night before, and after the wedding, people gathered in the lobby bar, which was great (it definitely wasn't necessary to reserve space!). One thing I will note is that they say the ballroom can fit 180 for dinner and dancing...we had 146 and it was TIGHT. As in tables and guests pushed into corners and against the wall, with uplighting literally in some people’s faces the whole night! So it was okay, but I would advise that if you have any more people than that it will NOT be comfortable.
I felt the cost was very reasonable there, compared to many other venues charging so much more just for the space rental and having much higher minimums. One thing you need to be aware of is that they insist on having escort cards AND place cards on the table (aka assigning seats). It's possible to get away with not doing it, but very difficult. Our wedding block rate for rooms was pretty unreasonable as well (although it was a holiday weekend) but aside from a few things, I found them very accommodating to whatever we wanted. One of the highlights was that we were upgraded to the presidential suite, which took our wedding weekend to an entirely different level. It was amazing!
Bridget was lovely and so helpful and patient with all my questions over months of planning, and was really on top of things the day of. HOWEVER, I cannot even count how many errors were made throughout the planning process that I caught and had to get corrected (typos, incorrect totals and numbers on proposals and bills, etc.). It was pretty alarming and definitely added a lot of stress to an already stressful process. We were still dealing with errors the day before the wedding and even for weeks after! My advice is to ask a lot of questions and really be like a hawk going through proposals and contracts (making sure every # is right, all the totals add up, etc.). So while it’s a little bit of a mess, they did correct all the errors when brought to their attention and that room upgrade kind of made up for all of it!!
Overall, they really delivered on the night of. Our guests and we had a fantastic time, and as long as you are on top of things it’s a great choice if you want somewhere a little more unique and chic.
Absolutely loved our wedding at the Liberty! It was such a unique, chic wedding venue - from the fifth floor cocktail hour to the ballroom with trendy chandeliers. We loved all the great spots to take wedding pictures as well - it makes for some really cool pictures (Ebersol suite, by the windows on the 5th floor, outside by the jail doors)! We had about 115 guests, which fit great in the ballroom. The food was delicious as well - we had so many compliments on how great the food was and what a unique venue it was. It was one of a kind! Our wedding coordinator was able to answer all of our questions along the way, although she was slow at responding at times. Definitely recommend the Liberty for an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue!
The prison vibe got the obvious ball and chain jokes now but that those are out of way lets get to the review. The venue is funky, fun, and surprisingly cheap relative to similar venues in the area. The food was awesome and they were flexible in their accommodations. Our wedding hosted 130 people and giving the room the fullness for a great party. We held our reception on the rotunda above the main lobby providing a great and fun environment for mingling. For any couple that is seeking to get married in a modern, different, and trendy space the Liberty is for you.
Everything was gorgeous, and from a guest's perspective, there wasn't much to complain about. Food was absolutely outstanding, and the venue is stunning. The food service (especially at the bar) was very fast. Our coordinator was very fair in finding us the best deals within their services, making an otherwise unaffordable venue something in our price range.
However, there were a few things in hindsight that I should have gone Bridezilla over:
-- Communication between our coordinator and myself was not consistent. Some days a reply was immediate, other times it would take weeks to get a response. You'd think this would alleviate itself as we got closer to the date, but it actually only became even more sporadic.
-- Almost no direction or contact the day of the event. We were supposed to return to the Bridal Suite post-ceremony for private apps shared between myself and the groom... only to find the room locked. When we returned after cocktail photos for said apps, they were finally present but half-eaten (presumably by members of the wedding party who wandered in before us).
-- Our cake topper was missing, and only came out towards the end of the night when I demanded it be found as we went to cut our desserts.
-- Storage location for items left in Bridal Suite (Chestnut Room, a 4th floor function area) was not communicated to Event Team, so every time the bridesmaids went to retrieve their items, they had to hunt people down and only got deer-in-headlights stares.
-- Florist had many complaints the next day about the staff. She had remained on hand post-ceremony to move floral items into the reception (why the Liberty staff refused to do so, I don't know, but it was made clear to me early on that it was my responsibility to transport any arrangements between areas)... she had to stop staff from taking chair decorations home with them. Apparently they were told by our coordinator that "it was all theirs for the taking since it wasn't going to be re-used". Mind you, it WAS going to be re-used in the reception AND donated via Rebloom to charity at the end of the night. This had been communicated very clearly to our coordinator.
-- Layout of cocktail hour tables the day of did not match floor plan provided the week of the wedding, leaving the Florist to scramble to rearrange our decor ideas as she set-up. This after months of diligently planning the layout.
-- Florist stated she had to fish our rented decor out of the trash the following day when she returned, even though it had been made clear what was to be set aside for next-day pickup and what was to be given to Rebloom at end of evening.
-- The coordinator had said she would be reaching out to all vendors the week of to go over details, but each vendor claims they received no contact.
-- It was not made clear to my vendors the day of who the point people were, so not only was my Florist running around to get questions answered, but my photog had no idea when/where his vendor meal was to occur, resulting in him missing the cake cutting and the Mother-Son dance.
-- Photog asked for lights to be raised for better pics, which led to a good 10 minutes of house lights being raised up & down to find the right setting. Lights are pre-programmed and not on a dimmer-- very distracting to our guests.
-- Had to return multiple times to retrieve remaining decor post-event since things clearly had not been set aside very well at end of even
We worked with Bridget Luddy at The Liberty for our wedding reception. Our ceremony was held offsite. We had the entire 5th Floor Rotunda and the Esplanade Room on the 5th floor for our cocktail hour and reception. The room is small, but our wedding was very small. We had 40 attendees and we were able to fit everyone comfortably at three long tables with a 12x12 dance floor, two cake tables, and a DJ in the room. We had an open bar, three buffet stations, and a photo booth around the rotunda. People had plenty of space to move around, quiet places to chat, and places to relax. We got it all for a $5k food and beverage minimum. We tried to come as close to that minimum as we could - and went just over with the bar tab. With the gratuity and taxes, we spent over $7k. Damn those taxes. But the gratuity was entirely work it. Working with Bridget was easy. She guided us through all of the decisions and steps. When she was slow to respond, she was very quick to reply to reminder emails. And she was always willing to meet in person to walk the space (with a free glass of champagne!) On the big day, we saw Bridget and two of her assistants moving throughout the party. I didn't have to think about a thing. The room was beautifully decorated with all of our provided decor.
I would definitely recommend the Liberty for its location and beauty - and for its staff. But keep in mind that quality comes at a cost.
Put on a beautiful party- but I would caution anyone looking to have a wedding there that they were EXTREMELY difficult to deal with! In the time between when we signed the contract and when we actually got married (about 1 and half years) they went through 3 different wedding coordinators...each one worse than the last. The last one we had was extremely difficult to get a hold of- bottom line- she left the place. Everyone raved about how beautiful the place was and that our wedding was beautiful- but if you plan on getting married here I would consider getting your own wedding planner to eliminate the hassel! They are pretty accomodating with the food- we were able to have them adjust some of the options to things we preferred over the standard things that were there- and that turned out great as well. We just found the managment to be terrible.
Brides-to-be:
We hosted our wedding reception at The Liberty Hotel. And though nothing goes entirely perfect on THE day, I can say it was of no fault of this vendor.
We worked closely with Erinne Bundrock, the day-of-wedding coordinator, for eighteen months. Despite her relentless traveling demands and many other professional engagements, Erinne remained patient, present, professional, communicative, but (most importantly) pleasant. She is incredibly thorough and does not disappoint.
Other important points of praise:
The food presentation and quality was terrific. We had good but brief experiences with other hotel representatives: Mercy Budka, Brittany.
The rooms, the hotel and the overall service is nonpareil.

I am not one of those girls who has dreamed of a wedding at any point in her life, so when I was looking for a location for my wedding I knew it had to be different, interesting beautiful and not too bridal. When we looked at locations we wanted something that was only in Boston and had great architecture. We decided to go with the Liberty and have our ceremony in the Yard and the reception on the 5th floor balcony with adjoining esplanade room.
I cannot tell you how pleased I was with the space, the staff and our wedding coordinator, Erinne. Our original coordinator left a couple months beforehand, and Erinne stepped right in and knocked it out of the park. I am an anal person and had a lot of small things to deliver to the wedding, and was so pleased when I saw them displayed on the 5th floor. The food was phenomenal and every guest commented on it.
I wish I could have another wedding just to throw the awesome party we did up there. I cannot recommend them enough. People will say it's pricey, but I found it comparable to other places in the area and you get such an experience! And they are so fantastic with the little touches! Glasses of champagne after we walked down the aisle and our first dance song playing on repeat when we got back to the hotel room. Just incredible!
We had our ceremony and reception at The Liberty Hotel and it is the coolest hotel in Boston. Staff is very professional, so helpful and it is a perfect site for a Boston wedding.
It is the best wedding venue! Excellent food, very good vibe of the hotel and very accommodating staff. Our guests are still raving about the party! Our wedding coordinator, Erinne was very professional and personal at the same time. The wedding was stress free and very well organized with the great help of Erinne!
Having our wedding at the Liberty Hotel in Boston was supposed to be a dream wedding. Except that it was better.
If you want to have your wedding at a unique, glamorous, interesting, luxurious, beautiful place in Boston, you should consider the Liberty Hotel. We didn't want a cookie-cutter wedding, and Christina Chunias and her team made sure everything was perfect for our big day.
Obviously the building itself is phenomenal, and we were so happy to share our favorite home-away-from-home with our family and friends. Not to mention we got some amazing photos to cherish for the rest of our lives.
The food? Don't even get me started - it was SO incredible. We had some pretty tough-to-impress guests who were all gushing about how delicious and beautiful the food was. And I can proudly say that I am a bride who ate at her wedding, thank you very much.
The service was wonderful. The event staff took care of all my guests that night.
I really cannot recommend the Liberty Hotel enough. I can't imagine getting married anywhere else. It was better than a dream wedding. If any Boston-area brides would like to talk to a "real bride" about her experience at the Liberty Hotel, please connect. I'm more than happy to elaborate!
I had my wedding on the fifth floor of the Liberty hotel in the Esplanade room and then used the same room and the catwalk for my reception. The venue was beautiful and the staff did a fabulous job. My wedding planner made sure that one the day of the wedding everything went smoothly and I didn't have to worry or do anything but get ready to walk down the aisle. The food was catered by the Liberty, and is rather pricey, but you get what you pay for and all our guests were raving about the food. The venue itself is just such a cool place and different from any other typical hotel. You won't soon forget an event at the Liberty Hotel.
Pretty cool place, stayed here for my bachelorette. Hotel was beautiful, and when we came back from the bars, the entire lobby was basically a club. Very interesting..
The Liberty Hotel is a very unique place to have a wedding. It's distinct from other hotels and has a chic but historic feel, since it's remodeled prison. Our wedding was absolutely gorgeous. The cocktail hour was on the top floor rotunda overlooking the entire hotel and our reception was in the ballroom. The ballroom resembles nothing we've ever seen before. It has floor to ceiling windows and gorgeous chandeliers. It was the perfect place for our wedding!
I looked High and Low while looking for a venue that captured everything I was looking for: historic yet modern, character, classy, intimate, nice outdoor space and beautiful indoor reception area, while all being accessible by the T. I couldn't ask for anything more perfect. It turned out beautifully. The ceremony was in the courtyard, the cocktail hour was on the 5th floor atrium, the tea ceremony was in a side room off the atrium, and the Ballroom was an amazing place for the reception. We pretty much designed the way we wanted the wedding to look like, the space, etc as there are no formal "packages." This was ideal for us as we got to design our own wedding, which is after all, what it should be. I got to get ready in the hotel and take photographs all around the hotel which was amazing. We had free reign. Though the staff were incredible and very vigilant (including Kate Giannetti who was my time-keeper which could be annoying at times), we did have a couple of hiccups with our Out of Town Gift Bags and Security on the Night of the Wedding. The hotel charges a fee for the bags to be delivered directly to the room, however, when our guests checked in on the Thursday before the wedding, they did not receive their gift bags nor was there anyone at the hotel I could speak to who could get them their bags. The hotel manager was somewhere off-site and the Catering Sales Manager (Kate) was not available. She did make it up by delivering the bags the next morning to our guests and offered them a fruit and cheese plate. As for the security on the evening of the wedding, they let 2 random people enter our reception, in which I had to escort them out. Still, I loved the venue and wish we could do it all over again. FYI: the catering is part of the Liberty Hotel which is why the total cost is high. Reception Room Rental is $1000, and the Courtyard rental is $500. Everything else was catering and alcohol.
We worked with Christina Chunias at the Liberty Hotel, and I could not have had a better experience. I wanted a true city wedding, and I certainly got it! We had our ceremony outside in the former prison yard and the reception in the ballroom. The hotel is a beautiful location for photos, and guests loved the venue. We did a big cocktail reception with dancing and it made for a much more relaxed evening than a sit down dinner. People were a bit surprised about the night club vibe of the Liberty, however, there were security guards outside of the ballroom who ensured that only wedding guests were allowed into our event.
Many of our guests stayed at the hotel as did we (even though we live right in the city) and it made for a great experience!). The chef was great to work with and he even made an item that was not on the menu - tostones, which are a Cuban specialty, and this meant a lot since my husband is Cuban. While you will have to use their food and alcohol, it was all fantastic, and you can bring in the rest of the vendors - cake, music, etc. It was truly a WOW factor event, and we want to do it all over again!
The venue was amazing and the service was perfect. The only thing we were disappointed with was the on-site wedding coordinator was not very good. She was unresponsive and gave us several wrong answers. We had hired our own wedding planner (Linnea Tangorra) who was AMAZING so we didn't even have to deal directly with the Liberty wedding coordinator very much.
