Second everything that other reviewers have said about what an amazing venue this is for an intimate NY wedding. We are so thankful that we went with this venue for our September 2024 wedding. Alyson, Destiny, King and the entire staff made our 80-person wedding truly amazing despite last minute weather uncertainties (we ended up needing the tent and it was still very elegant and did not detract from the skyline). We were not stressed at all throughout the whole planning process because of how organized everyone at the River Cafe was so from our POV, River Cafe has an exceptional price-to-value ratio. Aside from the amazing food (with generous portions) that everyone loved, we were also able to have wonderful music & dancing thanks to a recommendation from Alyson (DJ Alex Edge). As other reviewers mentioned, having a built-in day-of-coordination (thanks again Destiny!) and a dedicated staff member (King - you rock!) not only made the day stress-free, it also saves time/money from having to hire someone else. We loved having our wedding here, and look forward to coming back for many years to come.
If you're considering booking The River Cafe for your wedding, this is your sign to do it! I cannot recommend this place enough. Our wedding here in September 2024 was truly perfect. Great food was one of the main priorities for our wedding and boy did The River Cafe deliver. All of our guests raved about how amazing the food was - and we have a lot of picky eaters in our family! They were also extremely accommodating for all of our guests' dietary restrictions, which was very appreciated. Aside from the food, you just can't beat this location. It is so classic New York and was the perfect backdrop to our dream wedding. We received endless comments from our friends and family on just how the special this place is. The staff is also incredibly friendly here and was so welcoming. Destiny was our day-of-coordinator and really worked so hard to make our night so special. Alyson, The River Cafe's director of sales helped with all the behind-the-scenes work leading up to our big day and made the process a true breeze for us. She had a prompt answer to every single question (and never got annoyed at me for asking too many!) These lovely ladies really helped make our big day so wonderful and I cannot thank them enough. Also need to give a huge shoutout to King, our dedicated server. He had the best attitude and was such a pleasure to have by our side all day. I could go on for hours. I cannot recommend The River Cafe enough. It is truly the best of the best and we can't wait to go back for dinner soon.
Our wedding at the River Cafe was a dream come true.
Special shout out to Alyson, who was unbelievable. She swiftly responded to emails and helped us organize everything with ease. Her confidence in coordinating with all the vendors kept us calm, especially on our busy wedding day.
The River Cafe was stunning, and the staff were incredibly kind and caring. The service was extraordinary, from the ceremony in the garden to the cocktail hour on the terrace and the reception in the terrace room. Everything ran smoothly, and we were consistently impressed by the efficient flow of the day.
The food and drinks were out of this world. The duck was an incredible choice, and our guests were blown away. We are so happy with everything and highly recommend the River Cafe for any special event.
Had my wedding here in December 2023 and it was absolutely perfect. My husband and I wanted to something different from a traditional catering hall and The River Cafe was everything we could’ve asked for and more. The food and service were superb and the setting was magical. Alyson was excellent to work with and really helped bring my vision to life. She was knowledgeable, communicative, and just a pleasure. So many of my guests have told me that it was their favorite wedding that they’ve ever been to. HIGHLY recommend!
Our wedding at The River Cafe exceeded our very high expectations. Alyson was amazing to work with, the food is amazing, the staff were attentive and friendly and went above and beyond, and the views are second to none. I really cannot think of anything that would have made the night better. Several guests told us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to. I agree!
We are at a loss for words when it comes to describing how incredible The River Cafe is as a wedding venue. We feel SO lucky to have had our wedding here. Alyson is truly amazing, and working with her in preparation for our wedding was a wonderful experience. The entire staff was so supportive and attentive throughout our wedding and made it even more special. It is truly a magical venue and we wholeheartedly recommend considering it for any events!
The River Cafe venue and team, especially Alyson, are absolutely amazing. Multiple guests commented on how exceptional the service was, and the prime rib was the best they'd ever had. They are true professionals prepared for any and all things that pop up on the wedding day. They are also VERY responsive to emails. I was almost shocked by the level of service and support before, during, and even after the wedding. We needed safety pins; they had them. It rained like crazy; they were prepared, and it was still magical. We needed more vegetarian options; they made it happen. We requested a specific cocktail; Jake made it happen and even provided additional options...
All of our vendors were referred by the venue, and that made it so easy. They all know the space, and I'd recommend doing this if you don't have a wedding planner. It minimizes the coordination aspect.
It was the best day, and so happy we chose The River Cafe.
PS We had 74 guests attend. I think this was the perfect number. If you plan to use the terrace, having more guests might feel tight. However, this might have been exacerbated because it was raining, so everyone needed to stay indoors. Also, if you're into dancing, there is plenty of room to have fun. Most of our guests spent the night dancing and getting out of their seats!
We recently had our wedding reception at River Cafe and had the best day of our lives! Alyson and the team were so easy to work with and worked great with my wedding planner as well. They were so responsive and attentive and made sure our special day was perfect. We received compliments all evening on the beautiful location, skyline, food, garden, and the highest quality service. We had a wedding of 80 people and had plenty of room for a dancefloor. It was a magical night, and friends of ours were saying the location was out of a movie. We will never forget our wedding at the River Cafe!!
We cannot recommend The River Cafe, Alyson, and the entire team highly enough! We had a small, intimate wedding there this September and every detail and team member truly went above and beyond.
Location: If you’re torn between a city or a garden venue, The River Cafe delivers on both! We had our ceremony in the garden, which feels like an oasis in the heart of Brooklyn, the cocktail hour on the terrace, and the reception in the terrace room, both with spectacular views of Manhattan. You may hear the ferry, cars going over the Brooklyn Bridge, and even helicopters overhead, but that made our wedding even more special — we like to say NYC was an invited guest.
Coordinator: We are so grateful to Alyson for making our wedding and the entire planning process seamless. We live close to the venue and Alyson was so accommodating in having us pop by to tour the venue or just to ask questions as we got closer to the date. When we first met Alyson, we told her we were hoping to get married on the eight-year anniversary of when we met, and she immediately checked that the date was available for us and penciled us in. She is incredibly responsive, organized, and will take care of every detail — not to mention she’s also a wonderful and kind person who stays optimistic for her COVID couples.
Food: The River Cafe is a Michelin-starred restaurant and the food was delicious. Guests don’t have to choose between a meat and a fish course — they get both in a four-course meal. (We recommend the iconic Marquis Brooklyn Bridge cake for dessert.)
Service: We were personally served throughout the evening by a lovely gentleman named King who: brought us glasses of champagne immediately after our ceremony, saved us a plate of hors d’oeuvres when we joined our cocktail hour for just the last ten minutes, put a dish over our entrees to keep them warm while we were visiting guest tables, and more. The service was top-tier!
We are so excited to celebrate our anniversaries with dinner at The River Cafe in the future. Thank you so much Alyson and team, you made our dream wedding come true!
My daughter and son-n-law’s wedding at The River Cafe was amazing! Alyson and her team did a wonderful job. The food and service was beyond expectations.
My wife & I had our wedding at the River Cafe after our original venue closed down due to Covid. Alyson & the River Cafe staff are exceptional and made the night truly unforgettable. The venue, garden & views are unmatched anywhere in the Tri-State Area. You will not regret your wedding here. The food is beyond amazing.
Our wedding at the River Cafe was amazing. The garden, terrace, and dining room are all beautiful with amazing views. They were a pleasure to work with and the food and service was phenomenal. I could not have asked for a more special place to be married.
We just held our wedding at The River Cafe in Brooklyn over Labor Day weekend. Luke and Waka were professional, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. All of the wait staff, bar staff, everyone--- they were fantastic. Our guests are still raving about the food, the waiters, the setting....as are we. We feel very fortunate to have had our wedding and reception here, and to have had such professionals to service that evening.
The River Cafe is the absolute most amazing location for a wedding. We had our ceremony out on the deck and the reception and dinner in the adjoining private dining room. Both had full views of the Manhattan skyline.
Every one of my guests were speechless when they arrived to the venue. The view is breathtaking and the ambiance is unlike anything I have ever experienced.
It is VERY expensive, but at the same time, it provided us with an experience of a lifetime.
I'm so happy we chose this location.
Also, the staff took wonderful care of us that evening, the service was perfect and the food was fantastic!
Rave reviews all around!
Our rehearsal dinner was held here, and it made for a very nice evening. The location was great since our wedding was being held in Brooklyn, and the view from the outside deck, with the sun setting over Manhattan, was a huge hit with all our guests. I can't comment on the cost because my groom's parents paid for the evening. We had a private room with windows overlooking the water, waiters passing out drinks and appetizers to start...it set a lovely mood for what was to be a magical weekend.
The food was very good. There was some confusion over the menu, but I don't know if the miscommunication lies with the restaurant or my groom's parents. When his parents forwarded us the menu with instructions to select a meat entree and a fish entree, we assumed that it meant guests would be given an option of one or the other. In reality everyone was served both meat and fish. It was a bit of a waste since not everyone wanted or felt the need for two entrees. There was certainly plenty of food to go around. We hadn't realized one of our guests didn't eat meat and was allergic to shellfish, but the staff was kind enough to put together a vegetarian dish that she raved about. Dessert was decadent and chocolate and a favorite of everyone. Definitely a night to remember.
