STUNNING grounds in September- practically enchanted. Jeri and Oceana are extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. Very nice that this venue manages all event setup and tear down themselves, but brides should still plan to handle plenty of prep work on their end: collaborating with the florist on all floral details, designing your cake with the venue, choosing reception details, coordinating your music, photography / videography, and Photo Booth vendors, etc. The River Mill helps with EVERYTHING, but don’t expect to be hands-off, IF you have a specific vision for your day.
I recommend having a trusted friend or professional coordinator on-site for the day to ensure maximum success. We did, and I was able to be 100% hands-off on wedding day and just enjoy myself. We had a large guest size of over 240 people.
I am thrilled with how our ceremony and reception came out at this gorgeous place!
We had THE BEST time on our wedding day!
My husband and I had our wedding in June 2023, and I still keep in touch with Jeri & Joana til this very day!
Jeri was responsive and attentive since the first day I met her back in March 2022, requesting a tour of the venue. The gardens were so Lucy and beautiful, grounds were well manicured and I fell in love with the place! When we did our wedding planning, we were introduced to Joana, and it was such a fun and enjoyable experience. Whatever Joana couldn't answer, she'd leave the room to consult with Jeri, which made me chuckled and thought it was cute.
I love that they are transparent and have been doing this for a long time. Their reputation precedes them.
Everyone I've conversed with when they asked, "Where is your wedding venue?" I'd respond, "The River Mill" their eyes lit up and say, "Omg, it's going to be beautiful, it's a beautiful venue!" I couldn't agree more!
Brides, to be honest, if you're planning your wedding like I did, this venue will help take the stress off of you! Even the florists at Sylveria is amazing. They listen to you and want your day to be memorable and magical for you, your husband too, but you get my drift! You'd have to do your part, too, but that's to ensure everyone's working in sync.
I recommend this hidden gem in French Camp to all of my family and friends, including you!
If you need more convincing and get a chance, check out HerLife Magazine March 2024 edition, my husband and I are on pages 52 and 53, an evening shot of our sunset photo on the grounds of our lovely venue, The River Mill!
We couldn’t be happier with how our October 2023 wedding at The River Mill went!! The venue is absolutely gorgeous and provides the perfect, romantic backdrop for a stunning garden wedding. We got married under the oak tree which was the perfect spot for a ceremony. There’s no shortage of picture perfect spots for your wedding photos! The food, cake, and desserts were absolutely delicious!! All of our selections were tasty and we got so many compliments from friends and family on the food! The flowers and decor turned out perfect and exactly how I envisioned. The venue coordinators, Jeri and Joana made the entire planning process so easy and were extremely helpful. On the day of the wedding, they made sure everything ran smoothly!! The reception space was beautiful and picturesque with exposed brick as the backdrop. It was truly a perfect day! If you are looking for a full service wedding venue that makes your day beautiful, fun, romantic, and easy then I highly recommend this venue! We continue to have friends and family tell us how much fun they had at our wedding!!
My husband and I had our day at The River Mill on 10/6/23. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful venue! Everything was perfect! The staff and coordinators were so professional and make you want for nothing. My guests could not stop gushing about the venue, the food, and the decor!
Everything is done in-house down to the food and flowers, so it leaves very little for the bride and groom to worry about and has plenty of options and upgrades to make your day unforgettable!
This hidden gem was perfect for us, and we will forever be grateful to the The River Mill for making it so memorable for us and our loved ones.
Jeri and Joana went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect! They were quick to reply to our many questions and were so helpful with every detail. All of our guests had nothing but positive reviews on the venue, service, and food. The food was the highlight of our wedding. The River Mill's staff made sure that we were comfortable and stress free. The bartender even helped me with fixing my train before I walked down the aisle. They made our wedding so perfect and memorable. We couldn't have asked for anybody else. We HIGHLY recommend the River Mill for any event.
Good place and Good service. Definitely worth every dollar you pay for your wedding

We hope we get to visit again in the near future to enjoy as a guest!
We will always recommend you to anyone. 🥰
“The day of the wedding was just perfect from the moment I woke up that morning until the moment it was all over. Everything was more breathtaking than I could have imagined..the tables, the flowers, the vintage books and teacups, the ceremony area, each thing was more beautiful and detailed than the next! I could not believe the amount of hard work and dedication that we had invested in our special day. Walking up the aisle in this fabulous setting with vintage chairs, beautiful roses and a flower arch to the sound of the string quartet was one of the most amazing moments in my life.
You'll definitely fall inlove with this place!!! With its beautiful garden and great ambiance you'll definitely want to go back here again.
If you want a classy and beautiful venue for your weddings then this is for you. I highly recommend this because I have a great experience and happy memories here.

UPDATE to my earlier post. To date The River Mill Owner, James Silveria, has refused to refund a $7,800 deposit for my daughter’s wedding reception (that could not be held on 4/25/20 due to COVID19). Recently I left him a voicemail to see if he would reconsider as he has now held their funds for five and one half months. He returned my call with his typical insults and accusations that I am a bad father for not rescheduling the reception for a future date. (My daughter and son-in-law held a small ceremony on their planned wedding day. They do not want a future reception.) In this call Mr. Silveria screamed “I AM A VOLATILE MAN AND IF I WERE SITTING ACROSS THE TABLE FROM YOU I WOULD TEAR YOUR EYES OUT!”. I share this as caution to anyone considering doing business with his venue and other businesses. He is self-described ‘volatile’ and threatened violence to a customer he is trying to retain. I find his behavior distasteful and unconscionable. Please consider the lessons I have learned in planning your special day. This is my Previous post - My daughter and Son in-law had ordered their wedding flowers with this shop and planned their wedding reception at it’s affiliated venue (River Mill in French Camp Ca.) for April 25th, 2020. Sadly, COVID-19 turned the world on it’s ear, and the shop and venue could not delivery their service due a Governor’s decree and a state-wide closure. The pandemic could not defeat them, so a 10 person wedding was held and they started their new life together. BUT, WITHOUT their $7,800 deposit to cover the flowers and venue. While their business manager had committed to return the deposit, the owner of both businesses, Jim Silveria, decided to keep their deposit until his ‘insurance company pays him for loss of business’. At least that is what he told me. After months of messages left by my daughter and me, Mr. Silveria returned my call from his other business, Silveria’s Flowers and Gifts. I only intervened to have a conversation, but I was met by a childish tirade of insults and accusations by Mr. Silveria. In my 59 years I have never experienced such contempt by a business owner who called me ‘a clown’, ‘a prankster’, a ‘bad father’ and a ‘horrible businessman’. Frankly, I was only trying to help this young couple recover their money to start their new life together. I offer this caution to other parents planning their child’s special day … don’t be lured in by a florist or venue without checking out their business practices and integrity. This business has shown no empathy for their customer … in fact, they have done their best to hurt this young couple. Shame on you Jim Silveria. It is now three months since the original wedding date (of April 25, 2020) and the florist and venue are still holding the deposit. This is an unethical business practice.

Would not recommend the river mill. My daughters reception was planned to happen on April 25, 2020. Three months prior the river mill They requested we pay 50% of expected costs up front. So we paid them $7800 in December 2019. World Pandemic hits in March 2020. Wedding reception has to be canceled because government says no public gatherings of more than 10 people. RIVER MILL REFUSES TO REFUND OUR DEPOSIT! After four months of multiple phone calls and emails with no response from them we’ve highered a Lawyer a will have to file a claim in small claims court.
This company takes your money and runs. DO NOT USE THEM
My husband and I had signed a contract with Jeri at the River Mill for our wedding on April 25, 2020. Due to COVID, we were unable to have our reception at the River Mill. While trying to find out what their plan of action was, the management at the River Mill was generally unresponsive; it would take multiple phone calls and emails to get a single response. After a conversation on April 6, 2020 where the manager Jeri promised us our money back, we have been completely ignored.
My father, trying to help us out, reached out to their flower shop, Silveria's Flowers in Stockton, to try to get information. The owner of the River Mill and Silveria's Flowers, named Jim Silveria, insulted and berated my father, saying that he cared more about money than his daughter, and told him we would need to hire an attorney because he was refusing to talk to my husband and I. Jim Silveria made it very clear to my father that he had gotten my husband's and mine emails and phone calls, but he has never reached out to us once.
After taking Jim Silveria's advice, my family and I hired an attorney. Jim Silveria, the owner of the River Mill and Silveria's Flowers, has ignored our attorney and our only option is Small Claims Court to get our money back. Due to COVID, we cannot currently file and have a court hearing, so I am doing what I never wanted to: airing our dirty laundry online.
Due to force majuere, the River Mill was unable to provide the contracted services for my husband and I on our wedding date. Jim Silveria, the owner of the River Mill, has been unresponsive and unhelpful and is directly benefiting off of us and pocketing $7,800. I would greatly appreciate if Jim Silveria would return my calls, emails, and money to me. You have my information, Jim.
The River Mill was exactly what we wanted for our wedding! The atmosphere, food, and staff was amazing!
Amazing and beautiful venue! Jerri was so good making sure everything was perfect and exactly the way I wanted!
The River Mill is by far the best venue in the San Joaquin Valley for your money. The gardens and grounds are gorgeous. The building is rustic and well kept. All of it made for beautiful photography background.
Their food was delicious. The hardest decisions made during the entire wedding planning was which entrees and cake to offer our guests because everything tasted great.
The day of the wedding everything went smoothly. We paid for extra time to arrive early and take wedding party photos before the guests arrived. We were able to get everything done and had time to relax upstairs before the ceremony began. Our coordinators, Alicia and Jeri, had everything handled like clockwork. I did not have my own event planner/coordinator (some brides still choose to) and I was glad because they managed it all perfectly.
I would happily recommend The River Mill to anyone who is seeking a beautiful venue that offers everything you need in one place (I only had to hire a DJ and photographer). It is truly a diamond in the rough of the Valley.
They were very organized and kept everything on schedule the day of the wedding. They seemed strict on their rules but when the special day came I could see how their rules helped the day go smoothly. The coordinators Jeri and Alicia were very helpful and made sure our day was one of the best days of our life. I highly recommend them.
Read the reviews here. There is a recurring theme of this place, The River Mill and it's coordinators Jerri and Alicia plus the owner being super rude, unresponsive and disrespectful and deceitful to it's clients.
If you think that these reviews are just one off and you decide to plan your event here and hope for the best... Then I seriously hope you get very lucky.
We were planning a baby shower at this place for next month but had to find another venue because of communication and transparency issues. Hidden charges on everything from requesting a table for gifts, linens etc. The charges itself is fine if they would just tell you upfront, especially you specifically ask what things are extra charges and what is not. And if you do ask they won't clearly or fully answer your questions. Which leads to more questions you have to ask and a lot more time in waiting and following up for more answers, which leads them to branding you as high maintenance and difficult when you just want freaking answers to your initial questions. Followed by intense frustration when you think you finally have answers and then BAM they hit you with a hidden charge or information that wasn't disclosed in the contract or previous communication and so starts the whole cycle again. Incredibly disrespectful in how they communicate and not communicate at all. And trust me the communication is very difficult to get out of them. Unresponsive to emails, phone call and messages. The owner is the biggest ass hole of all, rude and unprofessional in every sense of the word. They cancelled our event would out our consent because we couldn't get answers to questions about bringing our own table since they out of the blue said there would be an extra charge. Initially over the phone Jerri or Alicia offered to refund us because they no longer wanted to host our event but then spoke to the owner over the phone and he refused to refund us. The whole ordeal was so frustrating that it is difficult to even put in words how upsetting this is.
We were just planning a baby shower, I can't imagine how awful it was for those who left reviews that were planning their weddings! My heart goes out to those who have been in this situation already.
When you consider them, they will be super friendly and responsive but as soon as you sign the contract and pay the nonrefundable deposit they won't give a shit anymore about you or your event. This venue is a bit cheaper for a huge reason.
I would highly recommend Wine and Roses, I had my wedding there and consider it for other events and their coordinators are very friendly, helpful and most importantly responsive and professional.
This is the worst place I've ever been to for a wedding. Don't believe the positive reviews. Our food was cold, staff was extremely rude, inconsiderate to our guests, and the garden looked like garbage. Be careful dumping $25k into a wedding that's going to leave you regretting you ever got married.
Dishonest and Evasive. Plan to be ignored.
If you want the long story, find my review on Yelp.
I first encountered The River Mill in August 2015. My wife and I were married in a Texas courthouse because I'm military and my unit was supposed to deploy in September 2015. I promised my wife we'd have a "real" wedding when I returned, so we began to look at venues during pre-deployment leave.
Meeting with Jeri at the River Mill in August 2015, I was assured that if my deployment changed, we could reschedule the date with no additional costs, conditions, etc. So, I signed on.
The deployment was cancelled two weeks before we were supposed to leave.
Important notes:
1) According to the contract, 1/2 deposit of the total cost is due 6 months before the wedding date
2) The original 6-month deposit date for our wedding was April 2016
3) I received official orders in April 2016 for a deployment beginning in May 2016
Upon receiving these orders, we sent them to the River Mill who still asked for the original deposit by the original April date - even though our wedding would have to be postponed for nearly a year.
A new wedding date of August 20, 2017 was set.
We managed to work out a compromise where I'd send a $500 check every month to the River Mill which would have fulfilled the 1/2 deposit obligation of $4850 by December 2016.
The first $500 check was mailed at the end of April and deposited on May 10.
After I deployed, my wife received a new contract saying that we owed the River Mill $6300 by October 2016, completely nullifying the payment plan and increasing our deposit by $1500.
Since that time, we have been reaching out to the River Mill for answers and have been ignored. Actively, willfully ignored. I have no doubt that they are literally deleting my emails and ignoring my wife's voice messages.
I submitted a BBB complaint which has been ignored and I've sent over a dozen emails to them. I even tried to contact them on Facebook. They have since blocked me from their page.
This business is bad news. They all too willingly reply to anonymous emails that they could possibly make a buck off of, but when a customer is dissatisfied or seeking answers, they don't try to compromise or work things out, their solution is to ignore them.
This has been the worst business experience of my life thus far. I'm not sure how a business can function with how dysfunctional this entire process has been.
We had our reception at The River Mill in November. The staff was friendly and responsive from the start! Jeri (the coordinator) was very accommodating to all of our requests including a personalized menu, providing our own linens, a special cake request and attending to every detail. As we entered our reception, I was astounded by the decor and flowers. I knew they would use decor that coordinated with our style, but it was truly perfect. The dinner exceeded our expectations and guests were raving about the appetizers. Our chocolate cake with caramel and fresh whipped cream was as delicious as it was beautiful.
As a bride, I couldn't have been more pleased the day of the event. The reception was very smooth and on schedule, allowing myself and the groom to enjoy each moment. We had a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend The River Mill to anyone hoping for a beautiful, romantic setting and a guaranteed organized event!
Hello,
This review is for all the Brides looking at the River Mill for their weddings. When I was looking the reviews I saw and their very dated website did not do this place justice. The first time I saw it I fell in love and wanted this for my wedding day. It had several options for outdoor or indoor ceremonies and different options for indoor receptions. I wanted beautiful grounds that needed little decorations and lots of different places/backdrops for pictures. The river mill was it! And the fact that they do catering, cake, flowers, and coordination was a definite plus for me I was a busy girl, recent grad starting my first job and trying to plan a wedding at the same time was overwhelming and the River Mill was perfect for me! I have read bad reviews about the coordinator before and was nervous. However I didn't see any of that at all! I am completely type A personality, organized, and efficient. And so is Jerry!! This woman will ensure you have the perfect day! And will do all/most of your worrying for you, granted I still did my share of unnecessary worrying but after several appointments and phone calls and emails she had my trust and come day of! I knew all I had to do was show up relax and enjoy all my hard work and planning!
I gave it 4 stars because although my wedding was nearly perfect there are a few things about the River Mill I didn't like. The river mill does your flowers for you but they go through a Stockton Flower shop named Sylveria's and I didn't like them. My flowers were pretty but for more information look up my review on Sylveria's. The other issue I had with the River Mill was that they had a lot of property restrictions that I was disappointed with. For instance your not allowed to have sparklers for the send off, you couldn't have an aisle runner or bring your own fake petals for tossing because that may ruin the grass. You couldn't bring anything that resembled flowers that you made yourself of bought that didn't come through their flower shop(its in the contract). And you couldn't hang things from the walls or ceilings. Some of their inclusive vs upgrades was pretty ridiculous like the chairs that came with the package were ugly but we didn't want to upgrade to the pretty ones because they were an additional $5 per person! I couldn't justify that in my head!
One item that was a pro and a con is that instead of doing normal tastings and viewings of linens with couples individually they do a big party invite all the brides and grooms set up one of the ballrooms decorate each table differently and have different centerpiece options you can choose from and have appetizers, wine tastings and a huge dinner where you can try different dinner options and desert options. This is great because if you tell Jerry what you want she will try to create the table you envisioned! You can see lots of options and upgrades you might want. My husband saw it as a con because I saw a bunch of things I wanted for my wedding that is not included in the price. The bad side of this is that if theres a particular menu item you wanted to try that they aren't serving then you have to decide to take a chance or stick to what you did taste. I will say we did both and FOOD WAS AMAZING!!
Overall, despite the cons the pro's won! I am so happy I chose the River Mill and my wedding and planning experience with them was awesome!
Awesome. The staff was always so helpful and kept things on schedule. Just one note, please do not bring dogs to this venue. The ground are immaculate and they would like to keep it that way, therefore if you do bring a furry friend you will be asked to leave.
In the beginning, Jeri, my wedding coordinator was fanastic, she was black & white, very responsive, the rules were the rules period.. I can work with that.
However; once we made our 2nd deposit, the communication stopped.. I asked for literally 3 weeks to get an updated estimate after our "planning meeting" in which we had finalized all details. I received no response; not to phone calls or emails.. nothing, whatsoever.
After 3 weeks she finally emailed me an attached invoice.. no verbage, no acknowledgment of having ignored me for 3 weeks, no explanation, no apology.. nothing. Just an attachment, with the wrong head count.. and as I reviewed I realized the price of food had gone up.. on our signed contract; granted.. it says in little print "subject to change".. on my other estimates.. we were in "contract". I couldn't cancel; so I assumed they couldn't change our prices. I was wrong.
I may have been okay with that, except she never acknowledged it.. she didn't mention it.. even though I had been asking for THREE Weeks..
That being said; my wedding was beyond beautiful, and I loved my day.. however; I can't really recommend the venue; the last 2 months of planning were hell, primarily because of the venue and the lack of communication.
I've never felt so disgusted with the service I received as a customer.
IT was beautiful.. it truly was.. and the first few months of planning were fantastic.. I was thrilled, but towards the end.. it was awful.. and there is nothing worse than working full time, trying to plan a wedding and having NO response from your venue.. I hadn't been a stressed bride up until then..
It's almost like they forgot that it was a first time experience for me and my husband.. we are in our mid thirties and neither of us had been married before.. so it's overwhelming, exciting and intimidating... they however; do this daily.. instead of guiding and helping.. I truly feel they take advantage and are rude, disrespectful and unprofessional.
My Groom would tell you that it was miserable having his bride upset all the time towards the end BUT (he's the one to say BUT) the day was perfect; the wedding runs like clock work because they are drill sergents and they run a very professional venue and everything is done on time, and swiftly... however... I don't feel that I'd recommend them.. I think that there are plenty of beautiful places out there; with respectful, helpful and honest coordinator's!!
I will say; that the staff on our day was amazing.. friendly; caters to the bride and groom and very friendly (although.. they are visiably afraid of Jeri)
Our wedding reception was beautiful. The food and cake were delicious! The day of service was perfect, all of the wait staff worked very hard. We found the reception to be stress free and lots of fun!
Got married here in April, and it was beautiful. Most everything is taken care of for you. The venue is beautiful, the food is good, and the coordinator is on point.
Jeri, the wedding coordinator, does EVERYTHING. After pre-wedding planning, I didn't have to worry about anything. They put the cake servers out, took them when we were done, boxed them up, etc. Same with champagne glasses. And money dance tape. They literally made sure everything was perfect. And my water glass was full all night :) If I went back, I would choose them all over again! Also, they have packages so the pricing included: ceremony and reception venue, flowers for bridal party and decorations, food (which is the best food ever), drinks, everything! You only have to worry about finding a photographer and dj
My husband and I were married at the River Mill this fall! We had planned on a summer wedding but had to change the date due to medical issues. The staff was very accommodating and flexible! Jeri was a fabulous wedding coordinator! Flowers, cake, and food were included in the package! We loved only having to write one check...Highly recommend this venue!:)
the river mill is amazing. the flowers, food, cake and wedding day coordinator are all included. you drop off all of your extra decorations or items to be used the day of in the middle of the week before your wedding and then you're basically ready for your wedding 2-3 days before it actually happens. i had about 3 low-key days to hang out with my family and friends prior to the wedding. it was great! the venue was beautiful. the food was great. cake was excellent and came with chocolate covered strawberries. basically nothing went wrong. and prior to the wedding, the coordinator was readily available and helped find some 3rd party vendors.
a couple of details we didn't so much like and why they only get 4 stars: my guests did have to wait outside in the hot sun for about a half hr because they weren't seating people yet, they got some details lost in translation as they were training someone new (put the wrong chairs inside and had to change them right before the reception), and they are a bit strict about certain things (can't take home center pieces or leftover cake, can't use your own decorations if they have flowers in them, can only arrive 1.5 hrs early on the day of, tend to charge exceptional amounts for little things).
overall, had a great experience. a little pricey but you get what you pay for and it was worth the no-stress best day ever of my life : )
I chose The River Mill because it is an historic chicory mill built in 1873 and its located along the San Joaquin River. It was beautiful, bricks and iron gates, ivy on the building. It has a spectacular garden, a walkway lined with roses and flowers galore. There are also huge oak trees. My venue was all inclusive. It included a full staffed use of the facilities with all the linens, table settings, wedding cake, candles, parking attendants, an event coordinatior, a sit down served meal, all of the flowers for the ceremony, bridal party, family, cake, table centerpieces and they also put freash flowers throughout the building. It also has a bar that the guests can use.;You can't bring in your own alcohol
I loved that a lot of the extras were included in the price. Including a fantastic florist who let me design my own flowers (including all centerpiecess), a great food menu and cake decorator who matched my perfect cake to the last detail. They also refered me to a great DJ and officient. I had to not go outside The River Mill for anything/;One of our guests was videoing the wedding for us as we couldn't afford the extra expense of a videographer and she left the video camera plus the tape at the venue and when we went to pick it up the next morning it was already gone. I have still not been able to recover my wedding memories.
