The W Event Planning is a wedding planning service based in Monrovia, CA. This team consists of two sisters, Nicole and Laura Martinez, who share a passion for event design and personal details. Their main priority will be to work with your unique vision to make sure your dream day turns into a reality.
Nicole and Laura have over 13 years of combined experience, and strive to create a special day for you to look back on with joy. Together, they have been creating one-of-a-kind weddings since 2012, and continue to focus on logistics and schedules while the happy couple enjoys romantic moments together. Their main goal will be to handle your event design and organization from the beginning, to ensure you have a stress-free journey to the altar.
Nicole and Laura offer an array of services, including timeline creation, wedding party management, and contract negotiations. They will happily work with you for up to 12 months prior to your wedding, and keep an open line of communication with you throughout. During your big day, they will handle your vendors and event design, while you enjoy your time surrounded by all your loved ones. Along with your ceremony and reception, The W Event Planning team can also assist you with your engagement party, wedding showers, and other prenuptial events.

We had the pleasure of working with Laura as our day of wedding planner on September 21, 2024. From the very beginning, she was responsive and easy to work with. Although we hired her just for the day of coordination, I did not feel that was the case. We still had multiple calls and meetings leading up to the day and that helped me feel at ease. From our initial meeting, she understood my vision and provided valuable insights that shaped our day.
On the wedding day, I did not feel a single worry that things weren’t taken care of. In fact, I didn’t hear of any issues from Laura at all and we arrived to the venue with everything perfectly set. Laura coordinated with vendors seamlessly and checked in with us only when needed, allowing us to focus on celebrating our special day.
I highly recommend W Events to anyone looking for a dedicated and professional wedding planner. Thank you for making our day unforgettable!

Nicole and Laura were such a pleasure to work with. We started working with them only two months before the wedding and I wish we contacted them sooner because they made everything so much easier. Every time I had a meeting with them I felt more and more excited for the wedding. Everyone warned me that few things are bound to go poorly on the actual day of the wedding but for us everything went smoothly because they were able to think quickly on their feet and save the night from couple of forks in the road. Thank you Nicole and Laura for everything! Could not recommend you enough.

I don’t usually write reviews unless I receive an outstanding service or terrible service. Unfortunately, I will be writing a bad review for the negative experience I received on The W Event Planner.
I decided to hire them because they interviewed well over the phone, charming and will say everything you want to hear just to get hired.
After hiring them, I did everything they asked from signing the contract and making the 1st deposit of $2500 (half of the fee);you would think they would get the ball rolling soon after but that wasn’t the case. I had to follow-up with them a week after making my deposit to schedule our first meeting, which they wanted to make a virtual meeting. I thought that was inappropriate for a 1st meeting, so I suggested an in-person meeting, especially if I paid a substantial amount of money. I just think it’s important to meet face-to-face in the beginning, so we ended up having our 1st meeting at BJ’s in Montebello, at the location they chose (which is the halfway point between South Bay and Monrovia) 3 weeks later after the contract signing and paying my deposit.
Before having our first meeting, the W event sisters scheduled for us to tour Turnip Rose venue in Costa Mesa (the only venue they provided me in OC). I asked them if they would be joining the tour(as per their contract they will attend venue tours with their clients) but they said they’re unable to go because they have another meeting and it should be fine for us to go on our own since they are already familiar with that venue, but per their contract, they are supposed to attend venue tours with their clients regardless if they have been there or not. On 2 other occasions, they were again unable to attend the venue tours. So basically I was left to do the job that they were hired for - their reasoning was being on vacation and the other time they had a funeral to attend, but they didn’t notify me of this prior to signing the contract. Well, I was in disbelief, 3 times they couldn’t attend any of the venue tours. If I was able to do all that they asked me to do (signed the contract & paid the deposit) why can’t they do their job?!? Again, I was gracious enough to let them slide because I still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I requested a list of venues in the OC area (which they have said they are very familiar with during their interview and meeting – but that was a BIG fat LIE!). Instead, they sent me a handful(just a handful) of venues closer to their area in Monrovia. The list had venues in Chino and La Canada area. Keep in mind that each time I asked for listings, they would only provide 1-2 venues (again closer to them) at a time and then I had to follow up again and again (this was exhausting). This continued for a while; ignoring my preferred location in OC and kept pushing venues closer to them in LA knowing that those venues are too far for my guests but still referred them anyway. They continued to not listen and tried to push their own agenda. I felt unheard and dismissed by these planners and at this point, I started to regret hiring them because I felt alone and overwhelmed all over again with wedding planning. I never felt more stressed than after hiring these ladies because now, I’m not only dealing with the stress of planning my wedding (contacting venues and other vendors to get quotes); I am also dealing with these planners who did not uphold their end of the contract. I gave them multiple chances hoping they could get it right because of how much time, energy, and money had already been invested, but they continued to fail at every aspect.
Finally, I reached my breaking point, I couldn’t afford to waste any more time and energy as I was falling behind on wedding planning (my wedding is 7-8 mos. away, so urgency was very important in my case). My fiancé wrote an email of grievance and sent it to them. After receiving the email, they finally offered to do their job by assuring me that they will give me quotes of vendors and vendor referrals that I requested a while back before we part ways.
I was still open to working with them, but they opted to take the easy way out, so I had to ask to get a partial reimbursement of my deposit since they didn’t really do anything. I talked to Nicole over the phone to ask for some empathy and to also consider my feelings. Nicole sounded like she was going to give me back some of my deposit, but she said she would have to speak to her sister/partner Laura then she’ll let me know and I respected that. I felt good after that conversation with Nicole believing that she had the heart and decency to return some of my deposit back. Later that night, I got an email from Nicole saying that they won’t be able to reimburse me as they had already used the deposit to pay towards their rent and bills. She couldn’t even call to tell me…she had to write an email to inform me. Nonetheless, I was crushed either way because they just took my hard-earned money just like that without any remorse or considerations for the patience and kindness I’ve shown to them. I learned the hard way to trust your gut and go with your first choice instead of picking someone more affordable especially when it comes to wedding planning.

I can understand how it may have felt our schedules weren’t lining up in the first two weeks of booking, with your particular availability and our pre-existing meetings and weekend events that we had on our calendar prior to booking with you. This is why we offered to hold our first planning meeting via Zoom (which is a meeting-style we have with many of our clients), so we can get started right away - I’m sorry you felt that Zoom was inappropriate. Since you preferred an in-person meeting, we chose the first available date that worked with both of our schedules. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the venue tour you mentioned as we had our Uncle’s funeral on the same day but it was our priority to revisit that venue with you as soon as the venue allowed. Sad to say, we didn’t get that far in the planning process with you to schedule the walk through of the venue as you chose to no longer work with us. Although we only physically met with you once in person, the amount of correspondence between us via text throughout the majority of the day and evenings as well as emails, are considered hours worked towards your wedding. We reached out to a total of 12 venues to inquire about your 4 preferred wedding dates. We wanted to be sure you got the most out of our short time together, so we provided you with quotes from vendors that were available on your wedding date based on our discussion of your vendor needs, style and budget, which included 2 DJs, 2 Photographers and 2 Videographers, 4 Florists, 3 Officiants and your glam team. We truly hope you decided to move forward with any of these vendors as we have worked with them many times and are confidant they will do the best job for you on your wedding day. We also provided you with a very detailed wedding day timeline that we’ve utilized with all of our clients. Of course, being so many months out from your wedding, we understood that you wouldn’t have all of those details planned out just yet - but our hopes were to leave you with as much direction as possible so that there were no details missed. We also hope you utilize the catering master list that we created for you that allows you to write in the quantity of each entree for your guests when you receive your RSVP’s. This is something we usually do and hand over to your catering team but as I mentioned, we wanted to leave you with as much guidance as we could.
We enjoyed getting to know you and Garey and learning more about your wedding vision, which we were excited to help create. We truly wish the best for you both on your wedding day and in life.

Nicole and Laura completely saved my husband and I’s destination wedding in less than 25 days after our original venue cancelled on us. We live in Missouri and had them help us plan our wedding just outside of Malibu. They went above and beyond to find us a new, amazing and beautiful venue, contact all of our vendors on the location and time changes, schedule extra meetings with us, and travel to make all new reception setup and measurements. They are the best wedding investment you could ever make. They are so fun, sweet, and amazing at what they do! We could not have been happier with all of the vendors they recommended to us. Planning our wedding over mostly FaceTime and email was a stress free experience all thanks to them. I will truly never forget how amazing they were!!

From start to end they understood our vision , had excellent communication, were on it with everything, even last minute we had some guests who didn’t rsvp show up and they accommodated them and took care of it and we didn’t even know till after . It's hard to know where to begin because Laura and Nicole are amazing.
We got so lucky to have them as our day-of-coordinators. It was awesome to work with a local, small business, sister duo.
They were very receptive and communicative from the first conversation. We had our ceremony & reception at NOOR in Pasadena, CA, a venue they were very familiar, so it was easy to trust their insight and guidance.
We're not even sure if anything went "wrong" at our wedding because Laura and Nicole were on top of everything without us having to intervene. They're professional, easy to talk to, and have infectious bubbly personalities. If we have to plan an big events in our future, I wouldn't hesitate at hiring them.

We were recommended Nicole & Laura through our Venue, NOOR. Once Nicole & Laura took the wheel, my wife & I were put at ease! Although they were late to the start (no fault of their own) they exceeded our expectations. They were not worried that they were brought in late & walked us through the process each step of the way (As my wife & I were of course new to this). We expected to have one coordinator but were grateful to have both Laura & Nicole. They were professional, attentive & an absolute joy to work with. That says a lot considering my OCD & I would book them for any event moving forward, not just our wedding.

Nicole and Laura saved our wedding day! They were assigned to our wedding during the wedding rehearsal, so I was so nervous meeting them for the first time so close to the wedding. But they were able to jump right on board and take direction on what my vision was with my decor and exceeded my expectations! We are a same sex couple and had concerns about finding safe and inclusive vendors that would help us have a great planning experience and wedding. Our first contact was with Nicole and we felt comfortable from the get go talking and getting ALL of our many questions answered. Nicole and Laura are open, kind and FUN. We hired them as day of Coordinators and they made sure they were up to date on everything throughout the planning process through texts, meetings, phone calls and emails. We were already very organized and had a very detailed vision and instructions for them to follow and they continued to touch base and review updates with us. They went above and beyond when we had trouble finding a ride to our hotel and offered to drive us. The day was easy and beautiful for us and our guests and that is all due to Nicole and Laura. Would absolutely 100% use them again and recommend to others for all events. Could not thank them enough.

We had a 30-person backyard wedding in July 2022. With the partial planning package, The W Event Planners (Laura and Nicole) served as consultants, meaning that we did most of the planning in terms of finding event rentals, caterer, musicians, photographer and making the arrangements. They made referrals when we didn't have our own contacts (e.g. They recommended a DJ who we hired and were very happy with.) It was great to have two people on the day of when competitor planners we consultant charged the same amount for 1 person. It was great to work with professionals familiar with the timelines of when things need to be done and advice on what other people have done in the past when we weren't exactly sure what we wanted. One minor thing: we thought we were getting both sisters on the day of, but we got one sister and another person we didn't already know. It worked out fine, but we were expecting the two people we knew and trusted. Overall, we were very happy and would recommend them to others.

Nicole and Laura met with us twice prior to the actual day of our wedding at our venue to help us review our set-up and vision for the special day.
They set up a website that allowed us to provide them with all of the details for our vendors, and were flexible when we used other methods of communication/organization such as Google Spreadsheets.
On our special day, we did not have to worry about a thing. They helped us execute our vision for the day just as we wanted. When we were finally able to sit down for dinner, they made sure we already had a heaping plate of food waiting for us. At the end of the day, they packed up our wedding decor in a very organized manner. Nicole and Laura were like magic ninjas behind the scenes. We would highly recommend them!

Where to start. My now Wife and I have been working with Nicole and Laura for a little over a year to ensure the day of our wedding is amazing. Their perfect blend of professionalism and wanting to actually build a friendship with us is what made them stand apart from the others.

I hired The W event planning for day of coordinating, they offered a great vendor list that made my planning so much easier. Nicole and Laura were an absolute pleasure to work with both super professional, communication was great, and extremely knowledgeable and amazing at what they do! Leading up to the wedding they were in contact with all the vendors, created a timeline and took all the stress off our plate. Everything turned out amazing on the day of and ran smoothly. I knew I had to have the W after my first phone consultation. I was instantly comfortable with them. They were there for every planning meeting I needed. Nicole and Laura were an awesome team! Hired them to be my day of coordinators and they went wayyy above and beyond. I am not very detail oriented and they even helped with some of my planning gaps! I went with their recommended florist and videographer as well and both recommendations were perfection.
Our rehearsal was a little disorganized because of me and nicole and Laura helped get it on track! Even in 90 degree weather, they handled it all with grace.
Our wedding day went soo smoothly because of them, and a bonus was they captured my absolute favorite reel from the day on their IG! (They even hand carried my bubble machines to make my grand exit perfect!!!)
Also want to shout them out for grabbing me feminine products when I had a last minute emergency an hour before the ceremony.
I cannot recommend them enough if you want a stress free day!!!!

Best wedding planners in the game!
I cannot stress how grateful I was to have had Nicole and Laura help with the planning of our weddings! Yes you read that right ! We had two wedding! We got married through the court during COVID and they helped us Plan something small and then helped us plan our big church wedding a year later!! They helped everything go smoothly from planning the wedding and all the details up to the actual wedding day!!! I told them the vision I had and they helped deliver the wedding of my dreams!! I would highly recommend hiring this amazing & talented sister duo for any of your event planning needs! You will not regret it!

We hired Nicole and Laura for day of coordination for our February 2022 wedding. They offered several meetings beforehand, met us at the venue multiple times, and also held virtual meetings with my husband and I throughout the wedding planning process. On the day of the wedding, they assured that everything went smoothly and were in charge of decor placement. The venue looked absolutely amazing and ended up being more beautiful that I ever envisioned. Throughout the wedding, they checked up on us and made sure we fit everything in our timeline. Nicole and Laura worked with us in the summer of 2021. Despite the many losses they must have had due to Covid, they met us where we were at with our budget and went above and beyond for us.
They are very professional and very timely and informative with their communications. They are very easy going and enjoyable to work with.
With all these tremendous qualities, their very best attribute is their infectious joy. Nicole and Laura seem to truly love what they do, and every single interaction with them left us more happy and excited for our day than we already were.

Laura & Nicole were AMAZING. We’re so glad we hired them for our wedding. They were always very attentive, understanding, patient, creative and on time. We lost our venue 2 months before our wedding and they were able to find a new venue for us within days. My husband and I decided to do a backyard wedding instead so we had a lot of outside vendor coordinating that had to be handled and this duo did not disappoint. You won’t regret hiring them for your next event.

Hands down the easiest and most amazing planners to work with! As a detail-oriented person, I have always been used to planning and designing my own stuff and events. When COVID hit along me giving birth to my 2nd child, I started feeling the need for help in executing my visions especially for events for my children; but all that seemed to be so impossible during a difficult time of a pandemic. With lots of restrictions with events, feelings of anxiety with having an infant and another little one being exposed during a gathering, worries of companies cancelling out on me last minute due to their own uncertainties during the pandemic, it just felt that the extravagance that I’ve always loved about events couldn’t be illustrated. I AM BIG on making events unique and extra because my motto is to collect memories, not possessions. Memories are my wealth. We want to make memories last a lifetime; we can never turn back time. Yet, the pandemic just has put on such a big strain on my creativity and imagination.
BUT THEN- came along The W Events.
It was time for my daughter’s baptism and the very 1st time during the pandemic that I felt confident to even meet with less than 10 people. But I had one wish - that my vision of extravagance still be done even with such a small amount of guests. And be done in a SAFE, socially distant, super hygienic, but UNIQUE and memorable way. Sounds impossible still right?
Well they made it happen- with respect to my requests of caution for the little children in our party, including our guest-of-honor: my baby. I envisioned the event as a boho socially distant picnic, with everyone having their own picnic mats like table set ups, cute pampas designs and florals and individually boxed catering and sweets. They did EVERYTHING. From pick up of decors from my house, to coordinating with the vendor for our shockingly beautiful backdrop and florals, to securing our location/venue during the most impossible time to even book anything with COVID closing down everything, including parks.
It was the most difficult time! But Nicole and Laura arrived like angels that EXECUTED my vision oh so perfectly. They showered us with a little bit of their fairy godmother sparkles! And their own mother even assisted to ensure that the event went smoothly. I love companies comprising of family ♥️

Nicole and Laura took our vision and made it come to life. There were also things we really never knew or considered and they explained everything along the way. Due to covid, a lot of changes needed to be made for our reception and ceremony and they made it possible every step of the way. Any curve ball that was thrown their way, they handled like a boss. If we were to redo everything again, hands down I would go with them. For a thousand more times! (;

The girls (Nicole and Laura) were great. We called them in a panic with only four weeks before my wedding overwhelmed trying to do everything ourselves, and they helped us find and manage vendors, as well plan the layout of the ceremony and reception. Everything came out incredible! And throughout the entire process, they were super sweet, smart, and on top of it..... worth every penny. :)

So I hired Nicole & Laura literally a week before my wedding! I thought I can handle it all on my own boy was I wrong. Don’t do that if you think you got it on your own. Haha they helped me out so much given the fact that I was so unorganized! They made the day run so smoothly, we didn’t even have a rehearsal. Our wedding was 6 hours long but with them I was able to enjoy day with all their help! They also helped us get a last minute Dj that they always worked with who was great! & they ordered our linens for us too! I would have been lost without them! So happy with their service!

The W Event Planning did a wonderful job putting my boyfriend’s 60th Birthday on for me. I don’t think I could have done it without them. They helped me get my food, decorations, beautiful balloons & ordered tables, table clothes etc. Helped set up & with the clean up. I would recommend them to anyone!!! They are the best! In

Nicole and Laura provide EXCELLENT service!! Their detail and attentiveness is unmatched. We had a big birthday party for my sons 6th birthday and everything went smoothly! 50+ guests, DJ, dance floor, face painting, 2 jumpers (one was a 28 ft obstacle course), giant games for the kids and beautiful decorations with several tiny details that wrapped up the theme beautifully. The theme was Roblox, which if you're a parent you know isn't the easiest to decorate but they pulled it off creatively! Don't miss out on the opportunity to have these ladies level up your next event!!

Nicole became our wedding planner a year and a half before our date. She was there from the beginning, through our long engagement, up to our big day. She helped us get organized by proving us paperwork so we could write everything down as well as recommending an amazing wedding website, Wedding Wire, to stay organized. She even had us set up a shared wedding album so we could each communicate what we were looking for. We were struggling to find a venue in the beginning and Nicole came through by recommending the venue she worked at, La Cañada Country Club. My now husband and I fell in love with the place and the best part was, she got us a great deal!! Everybody was super nice and accommodated our special requests. About a month out from the wedding I had failed to finalize our wedding video and schedule a hair stylist for the big day ((yikes)). Nicole again came through and completed the video HERSELF and got me a great hair stylist. We have told our friends when they decide to tie the knot to get a wedding planner to take away the stress and help with all the big and littlest of details to make their wedding day perfect 🥰

Who else but Nicole from the W Events could help me pull off my 40th birthday-turned proposal-turned engagement – turn surprise wedding!? I cannot tell you how many times she ran interference for me! From people who RSVP’d “no” showing up and not having a seat to making sure my future stepson came in perfectly on the Skype call from Spain. No snag was too big for her. Everything was handled with grace and a beautiful smile. I cannot help thank her enough for helping me pull off my crazy idea.

Nicole was a dream to work with! I had heard horror stories about how hard it was to plan your own wedding and how sometimes a bride is busy trying to make the day enjoyable for everyone that she forgets to enjoy herself and that's not what I wanted on such a special day. Nicole took all the hard work out of such an amazing day and I'm so grateful for that! She coordinated with my venue and all my vendors, made sure everyone was on time and I didn't have to worry about a single thing. Communicating with her was also really easy, never had to play phone tag (I hate that!) and all my questions or concerns were taken care of very quickly. Literally could now have had a more perfect wedding!
