Leaving this review to share my experience at the Westin Gateway Arlington. My wedding reception accrued on Oct 08, 22. We booked the venue around Feb 22. Since the beginning, the process was hard for even Ekaterina the events Manager who tried to help but there is so much " hotel Policy" and we can not do that! Talking about parking, guest staying in the hotel discount, getting suite early to get ready Etc.
the main problem happened on the wedding day, ( the room was bright as daylight) as I booked the ballroom for a conference, not a "wedding party" So I reached out to the DJ to dim the light which I thought they can control, they did reach out to the hotel to dim the light but the hotel did not dim the light. We tried multiple times during the night to fix this but didn’t happen. The answer always was " yes we will fix it " but nothing happen until the end of the event.
A few days later I contacted the hotel about the unconsumed alcohol, the hotel agreed to refund that part. I also asked about the lighting, the hotel was represented by Raza, the manager that night and Ekaterina refused to take any responsibilities and referred me to the Area Manager, Jim Perrin, I sent him an email to explain everything in detail about that night. I called him twice trying to talk to him in person, he responded to the email a few days later saying that the refund from the unconsumed alcohol would " resolves any issues" which is absurd.
I gave up and called Marriott customer service to submit a complaint, they inform me that I will hear back from them within a week. A week pass by, and I called again, and they told me that the hotel solved the problem by refunding me! They meant that they refund me the unconsumed alcohol money ... Big WOW.
I asked the gentleman from customer service to call the hotel to hear that from them. the guy in the customer service did his best but had no luck solving the problem. The hotel did not want to take any responsibility or compromise

Our experience working with Michelle and the Westin was outstanding. We initially chose this hotel because it was among the most affordable but we never felt as though we compromised on the quality of our venue. The ambiance was excellent, the food delicious, and the service was truly above and beyond what we expected. Our guests have uniformly commented that they received a five star treatment, both in quality of service and experience. Michelle was responsive, attentive and fair and in those few moments there was confusion she was able to promptly resolve any difficulties. We would recommend Michelle and the Westin without qualification to anyone.
We recently worked with this hotel for a rooming block for our wedding, and we (the bride and groom) stayed in two of the suites here during our wedding weekend and utilized them for getting ready with our wedding party. I cannot say enough good things about our experience! From start to finish the Westin was fair, accommodating, responsive, helpful and super competitive on price! They went above and beyond to make our wedding block affordable and as easy as possible for our guests to book and for us to manage. During the wedding weekend, they took care of us every step of the way. From comping our parking to sending up champagne and treats for us to come back to on our wedding night, they truly made us feel so special and made our wedding weekend that more enjoyable. In addition to the great customer service, it is a beautiful property. The rooms and suites are updated, spacious and clean and the public areas are great as well. We also utilized Pinzimini, the on site restaurant and bar, a great deal throughout the weekend, and it was perfect for our needs. The food was good, the bar was spacious and great for a crowded and service was great! I would highly recommend this hotel---you will not be disappointed!
The Westin Arlington Gateway is a beautiful hotel! When we were searching for a location to have our wedding, we wanted to select a venue where we could have both the ceremony and the reception. Living in Northern VA, it is very difficult to judge traffic, so we wanted to choose one location so we wouldn't have to worry about timing, guests getting lost, etc. The Westin is surrounded by glass so there is a ton of natural lighting which translates amazingly in photographs. They also have beautiful mosaic walls and a fountain in the back. Additionally, their restaurant, Pinzimini, is a perfect location for a rehearsal dinner. We were able to have our whole event in one location which was so awesome and a seamless process. The catering director, Mitchell B., was so extremely helpful and we knew we were in great hands having dealt with him from the beginning of our contract right until after the reception. He was instrumental throughout the whole process and everything during the weekend was impeccably executed because of him. We were also greeted with gifts from Mitchell and the hotel, which was icing on the cake! We did have an issue with the valet parking prices, which are typically discounted for events, however not for overnight parking, which is what a majority of our guests needed. Again, Mitchell came through and resolved the parking issue to the best of his ability. If you are looking for a beautiful location that can accommodate all of your wedding needs, look no further. The Westin Arlington Gateway is gorgeous and the service was great; oh and it smells wonderful, just as an added bonus. We got so many compliments on everything over our wedding weekend and the Westin was a huge part of the success!
My bridal suite (regular suite) was huge with plenty of room for 10-12 people to get hair and makeup done. The bar was great for an afterparty and brunch was awesome with a small private space to host brunch for people staying in the hotel
I had a wonderful experience at The Westin Arlington Gateway. I wanted my wedding venue to be an upscale hotel with a modern feel, a friendly and knowledgeable staff, a convenient location, and a cocktail space with big windows wrapped around a neutral ballroom that I could transform however I wanted. I definitely made the right decision!
My wedding was a black tie affair for about 300 guests, so working with the hotel to plan the cocktail hour and the reception was no small undertaking, but Danielle Merriman and Alicia Bell were fabulous to work with! I greatly appreciated their thoroughness and attention to detail. My parents and I were very hands-on in the planning process, and they were patient and helpful as we discussed options and decided on what would be served at the cocktail hour, what would be served for the plated dinner (which included a perfectly cooked filet that many guests told us was the best they'd had at a wedding), what types of uplighting and draping I wanted, how to set-up the spaces, etc. In the end, my parents and I were so pleased with how everything turned out. The cocktail hour space and the ballroom looked beautiful, the food was excellent, everything went perfectly. I was particularly impressed with how efficiently the staff was able to pour champagne and wine and serve and bus the courses for such a large party.
On the wedding weekend, Danielle went above and beyond to make sure that all was going as planned and checked-in often to provide whatever help we needed. I loved the spacious suite that I got ready in with my bridesmaids on the wedding day. I also had a good experience setting up a room block at the hotel for out of town guests. I was also very pleased with the brunch that my parents had arranged to host in the hotel restaurant Pinzimini the morning after the wedding. I highly recommend this venue, and I'm so thankful that I had my wedding here!
We chose the Westin Arlington Gateway for our cocktail hour and reception.
Pros:
Included day of coordinator (responsive and flexible)
Location (on orange line for out of town guests to access DC sites)
Included bridal and parents of the bride and groom suite
Quality and selection of food
Cons:
-The reception room and guest rooms were REALLY hot. Perhaps an issue with the air conditioner but very unpleasant when you want guests to have fun on the dance floor
-Candy bar was not displayed as discussed (wanted multi-tier display and got a lazy plain display)
If you're looking for wedding planning to not stress you out too much, have it at a hotel. And have it at a Westin. This venue was amazing. Everything is very clean and modern looking, so you don't have to do too much in the way of decor.
The food was excellent, and they took care of every detail. I did a few DIY projects, and they had no problems taking it all from me the week before and setting it up EXACTLY the way I wanted it. The staff worked very hard and were very helpful.
The only issue I had was with hotel block. They gave me a little bit of a hard time when I wanted to add more rooms to the block and messed up a few at first, but it got straightened out in the end.
There were some other issues of not being able to show out of town family the room a few months before the wedding because the NRA booked it for a n organizational meeting where they didn't allow anyone even to be shown the space, but that kind of thing happens in the D.C. area a lot.
And I ended up having two "wedding coordinators" because the original one had to go on maternity leave about a month before my wedding. I was freaking out a little bit, but her stand-in made everything seamless.
Overall, a great package.
The Westin Arlington Gateway is a lovely place to have your reception. The staff was extremely professional and they put a lot of work into making my vision of my reception come true. I was worried that the ballroom would be too plain at first but when I saw it, it looked amazing. The wedding coordinator did a great job as did all the wait staff.
The food was wonderful, great menu choices, and they were willing to create a new menu just for us. The only issue I had with the food was that the salad was much smaller than at the tasting and the lamb chops were prepared differently than what we tasted but still delicious.
I take my hat off to the chef, the rib eye and halibut were amazing.
I would definitely recommend having your reception here.
I wanted to find a hotel that was nearby to our ceremony (which was held a few miles away) and wanted to make sure it was beautiful and clean and a good spot to have an after party at the bar. I thought I had it here but I was wrong. The woman I worked with to set up the wedding block and arrange an after party either didn't know what she was doing or she purposely lied to me and my fiance's face.
The rooms were beautiful that's a given and for around $135 they were affordable to most in our party. However, they ROYALLY screwed up the after party at the bar. When everyone arrived after the wedding around 10:30pm there was ONE bartender on duty. They were RUDE and unhelpful. After our guests waited 30 minutes on a drink--my fiance and I were embarrassed and super unhappy that they fell on their face service-wise. We were told the bar would be open until 2am (we had close to 30 people there!) but they closed at 11:45pm. It was horrendous and I will never recommend having your guests stay at the Arlington Westin.
The Westin was a fantastic venue for our wedding. The hotel itself is beautiful and the decor is neutral so there are no concerns of clashing with wedding colors. The location is ideal - two blocks from the Metro, so it's easy for out-of-town guests to get to as well as tour DC if they'd like. We did everything here - ceremony, reception, and guest rooms. All aspects were excellent.
Alicia Bell, the wedding coordinator at the hotel, is phenomenal. She immediately put me at ease and took incredible care of me during the planning process. She was so on top of things, I knew I never needed to worry. And I was right! She thought of everything and managed all my details with ease. My wedding went off without a hitch and went exactly according to my plans. Alicia made it all possible. On top of her skill, she's so lovely and pleasant, that I enjoyed meeting with her and talking to her every time.
Alicia also worked with my mother to host a party the day before for my brideswomen. My mom brought family photos with her, but did not have a plan to display them. Alicia took them and got display frames for all the photos! Totally above and beyond.
All the staff at the Westin were great. Everyone is friendly, competent, and perform their roles wonderfully. I went back for a meeting today with Alicia and the valet even remembered me! AND he remembered my husband's car. He was so pleasant and welcoming. I was touched.
The food was excellent. We chose to serve only vegetarian and seafood because we do not eat meat. Our guests (even the carnivores) all raved about the food and no one left hungry.
This was a great venue. I was pleasantly surprised at its reasonable rates, considering its location. We felt very pleased with our choice before the wedding, and this feeling was confirmed after the wedding. I only have positive things to say about it.
The staff was wonderful. We were given first class treatment from planning through the end. The staff was exceptionally helpful on the day of the wedding. The hall is gorgeous, and only allows for one event at a time - so we had the place to ourselves. Guest rooms are very nice. The look of the hotel is very modern.
