While I commend Carlos for his efforts, I also encourage him to look into other endeavors.
I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s weddings this past weekend and had complete second hand embarrassment for her as we watched him scuffle around for an astounding 15 minutes as the groom and his mother waited on the dance floor for their song to be played. There wasn’t a peep from Carlos explaining the technical difficulties once. In fact, the bride’s father had to get up and give an impromptu speech to break the ice for the 250 guests who looked on for an explanation.
Once Carlos was back up and running however, it got…weird. We started off with FIVE back-to-back Grease songs and then went to “Shout” straight to “Back That Azz Up”. From the hand jive to twerking without an iota of notice. No transitional songs, no backplay software, no cohesive playlist prepared, no crowd reading. It was just blatantly obvious it was from a lack of effort and preparation on his part—especially since we were not allowed to give song recommendations throughout his set. He had all the instructions, all the keys to success but it was simply fumbled.
This review is in no way indicative of Carlos’ character. I’m sure he’s a very nice person with good intentions. However, if someone is paying that much for a skill that you advertise to be a professional at, greatness is not only expected—it’s demanded.

Carlos did a couple things okay, but overall greatly missed the mark. We went with him because he was recommended by a local bridal group in Birmingham and he was responsive. He answered the phone and met with us to plan. The photo booth was good, just outdated, and he had a snow machine at the wedding which was wonderful. However... the songs were not played correctly (our first dance was the wrong version and he couldn't get the song for the mother/groom dance pulled up), there were issues with the microphones and it felt like there was a large disconnect with our planner and his duties. Going back, I would have gone a different route 10/10 times. He was expensive yet incompetent. By far, the worst part of our wedding.

Wow so we used TE and Carlos for our wedding a few years ago and it STILL bothers me how incompetent he was:
- Insisted on no walk-in music for the wedding party, which made it awkward as hell.
- Didn’t get the cue from my wife when to cut off the parents dance song.
- Asked us for a list of “must play” songs beforehand and proceeded to play only half of them at the wedding and when I requested he play one of the songs he never did.
Total tool bag who berated my friend when he had a request. A mistake in what was still an amazing day despite his best efforts to ruin it.

I was really nervous reading these reviews, because I had already booked Carlos and Total Entertainment to provide several services for my reception. However, I wonder if these were even the same company. I feel bad for the other brides, but that was so not the experience that we had. My husband and I were TOTALLY thrilled with the work they did! The lightind and draping completely transformed the space into beyond beautiful. Carlos played all the music we requested and the photobooth was a huge hit! All our friends had a great time and the book was perfect. There were a ton of props and it was busy all night. I don't know about being hard to reach him by phone, because I do everything through email and texts, so it wasn't an issue for me. I loved the work they did and would highly recommend!!!

Don't give these people your money. Carlos was completely unreachable for months. I emailed, called, left messages and had to turn a bit threatening before I got a single call back. I never even got the contract from him after requesting it repeatedly. They showed up later than previously agreed upon. Did not bring the assortment of props we were promised. Showed up looking less than professional to a formal wedding. The photo quality wasn't bad, but I've seen much nicer layouts from cheaper companies. Save yourself a headache and find a responsive professional for your photobooth rental needs.

Carlos was beyond difficult to get in touch with. When he did answer/return phone calls he was full of excuses of why he was unable to call us back for WEEKS. When meeting with him in person he took zero notes and have me (the bride) a list of things I needed to email him. These things could simply have been written down since I was ready to give him answers to all but one of the questions. Also, Carlos did not bring a hard copy of our contract nor the list of music he wanted me to select songs from. The week of my wedding I called Carlos and he was full of more excuses of why he could not talk at that time and would have to call me back. The second time I spoke with him he said everything was ready for my wedding. The day of my wedding was a completely different story. In the contract, Carlos agreed to set up three hours prior to my reception. When I arrived at my reception after the ceremony, he was still setting up. He then approached me and told me that he had NONE of the songs that I had sent to him because he didn't get my email, so he would just choose was music he wanted to play. This was totally unacceptable and unprofessional, especially after having talked to him earlier that week. We also rented a photo booth from his company that was suppose to come with HUNDREDS of props, there were MAYBE 50. They were also suppose to have our name and wedding date printed in a nice font since this was one of our souvenirs... he used a generic Microsoft Office font that I used when I was 10 to make my words look like cursive. The pictures were printed and put into a book for us as our guests took them. The pictures were poorly placed and some pages stuck together due to the glue not drying before turning the page. The pictures on those pages are now ruined and will require re-printing, removal, and replacing them in order to make it look presentable. This also means more money. After the wedding we contacted Carlos to discuss his lack of professionalism and our disappointments with his delivery of services. He never responded to our email. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. I was NEVER made to feel like I was important or a priority. I can not tell you how angry I was that he had the audacity to come up to me upon my arrival at my reception to tell me that he had NONE of the music I requested... If he would have at least contacted me that morning it would have been an easy fix, no harm done. He was totally unprofessional and did not deliver the services in the way they were presented prior to our booking him. I was warned not to use him from someone who had heard bad reviews. I wish I would not have chosen to ignore this advice!

Carlos was very friendly when we were able to get in contact with him. However, I could only get in touch with him on the phone, and he never answered, he only returned my voice mail. This is acceptable in the months leading up to the wedding, but not the week of the wedding. I never felt like a priority, as Carlos regularly apologized for the delay in his response because he was working on other events.
Stephen, the DJ for our wedding, was quite friendly, but unfortunately, he had problems playing our "first dance" song, so my husband and I stood in the middle of the dance floor rather awkwardly for about a minute before the music kicked in during the middle of our song, not the beginning. This was extremely disappointing to me and my husband, as this was one of the few details about the playlist that were most important to us, and I emphasized this to both Carlos and Stephen prior to the event.
Carlos emphasized that we would hear ALL the music we selected (we chose approximately 70 songs, which was within the range that he recommended), but I heard maybe half of the music we chose, and lots of music we did not want to hear. I was under the impression that I wouldn't hear a song if it wasn't highlighted on his list, but that was definitely not the case.
Bottom line: if you are particular about the music you want to hear during your reception, look elsewhere.

We thought the DJ did an excellent job of keeping the party going, and he played all our must-haves. The photo booth was a big hit! Total Entertainment also did our lighting, and they did a great job of making the architecture of our event space really pop. My only complaint was that the business was hard to get in touch with/plan with in the months leading up to the wedding. It wasn't until right before our event that we got focused service/attention.

Overall, we were VERY happy with Total Entertainment, Carlos in particular. Carlos met my husband and I in Hoover at OUR convenience to discuss what we wanted to happen in our wedding. Carlos and his staff were at our venue at 2:30 for our 5:30 wedding hanging up paper lanterns and setting up sound equipment. He listened to what we wanted to play in our ceremony down to the specific instrumentalist we wanted, and he filled out our reception playlist well. He definitely kept the party going until we had our getaway!
