We just got married in Wooster a few weeks ago and we used Village Catering and they were great. Very affordable, great communication, got lots of compliments on the food, it was hot and fresh, and they even sent us home with leftovers. The staff assigned to us were very kind and hard working. We even had a couple of special diet requests, which were accommodated with no problem (yes, there’s an extra charge, but they’re making specialty meals outside of your menu, of course its not going to be free). They accommodated a special request for two to go meals for our ring bearer and flower girl, as well as pulling aside appetizers for the bridal party since they were missing cocktail hour.
I had zero issues with communication, invoicing, price transparency, etc. My only complaint is that their travel fee is a little steep since we were literally 7 minutes down the road from their location.
A friend used them last year and had a great experience as well.
Village Catering really hit it out of the park with all of our selected dishes for the day of our wedding! Everyone we've talked to has complimented the food and the Ice Cream Brownie Bar. The employees working the buffet and the bar were awesome and made sure everything ran smoothly.
If I had one area to recommend improving, it would just be communication. The first individual we worked with was great, but I believe he left or moved departments and when that happened, some things got lost in translation. We had to remind them several times we added the bar service and when we got the final invoices, things were more money that originally invoiced. When we brought it up, they were fixed, however if you're giving a quote, I'd think keeping it the same would be best!
I’m not sure what has happened to this company but a decent amount of recent reviews echo my same issues. I would not trust the 5 star/overall review score of Village.
Village was the one vendor we were highly disappointed in throughout our wedding process. On the wedding day itself, things went smoothly for the most part with your employees and we are super grateful for that! Judy and Bob, the bartenders, were great and I really enjoyed them! It was the correspondence with Bri and the sales/invoicing, etc. team that was infuriating.
It started with our first quote being way higher than we were expecting so we had to make adjustments which wasn't a huge deal. When we asked to remove the setup and tear down fees ($700), as we had a day-of coordination to help with both of these, we were told we would have the pick up, clean, and return the china rental ourselves. This was a surprise to us because the setup and tear down are described as "Linen Placements, Table Settings, Napkin Folding, Complete Table Clearing, Clean Up After Event, Staying till The End, etc." in both the quote and invoice. It wasn't communicated to us that removing set up and tear down would result in a change in the china. Being from out of state, we weren't able to wash all of our dishes and return within the 48 hour time requirement. We were also told that removing the water, tea, etc. would "unbundle" our meal prices and each person would cost a couple dollars more - something else that wasn't communicated until we tried to remove it.
During our tasting, we liked the employee we worked with a lot! She said to request her specifically if we wanted to work with her on wedding day. I mentioned it once on a phone call and then followed up with them in one of the emails that followed. They responded that they would be sure to let her know since “I’ve asked twice now.” ??
Village has a steep 22% service fee that is applied to the whole bill - even to the other fees - bartender fee, travel fee, and set-up/ tear-down fees. I questioned this and was told it was accurate however at this point, I didn’t trust the employee I was working with at all and it felt like she was trying to get every dime she could out of us. There was 0 understanding or customer service.
When I had my final guest count and list of allergies from guests, I needed 4 specialized meals. We were then informed that because we had items on our buffet that these guests could *technically* eat, the specialized meals would be $25 each on top of the $21.99/person, making dinner $47 for those people. 1 guest has a serious gluten allergy, the other 3 did not eat meat and we did not have any entree/protein items they could eat. I felt like that was extreme to expect our guests to eat sides as their meals unless we paid $47 pp.
On the day of, none of my allergy/restriction guests were given their meals. I requested a refund for these meals and was denied.
When it came to paying our final invoice, we had to request it. It was then sent incorrectly, as we were told we had a $0 balance. After questioning it, we were told we had a $1400 balance. The link to pay was then sent incorrectly. We finally got the link and paid out of honest on our end even though they were negligent.
All in all, it felt like every step with Village came with added steps, complications, and frustration. Bri's responses were curt, not understanding, and horrible customer service at best. Would NOT recommend to my worst enemy.
Village Catering was recommended to us by our venue and we had a great experience with them. We went to a tasting and loved all of the food options especially for cocktail hour. Everything was pretty easy and stress free. We did have to make some last minute changes but nothing major.
I do NOT recommend using this catering company! Shady is the best way I can put it kindly. We were very impressed with their menu selection. As our wedding was getting closer, we went to one of their tastings. Their communication was amazing at the beginning. We were told to select any of the linens in their side room and we picked our favorite. We sat, wrote up a contract and decided on a tentative menu. Leading up to the wedding, again, great communication. DAY OF OUR WEDDING!!!! Picked up our linens, got to our venue to find table cloths VERY obviously labeled "STAINED", yet they gave them to us, we also were told about 2 weeks prior to the wedding that the linens we picked were not an option, even though we were told the day of the tasting they were and they were in the original contract. Again, at our tasting, we were told we would get the Brownie Ice Cream bar complimentary due to the fact our wedding was a week day. Our options were, get a percentage off, or do the "complimentary" Ice cream BROWNIE bar. If you look at the menu, that comes with all types of crumbles of toppings to put on top of your Ice cream BROWNIE..... Well..... nope, no brownies in site or crumbles for toppings. I reached out on the way to our honeymoon in hopes that they would work with me considering. Got passed on to Kimberly Siracuse, Director of Human Resources and Client Services. She listened to everything, then stated it was "Complimentary" so they could make any changes they saw fit. I reminded her that we took that rather than a discounted price for being a weekday wedding. She then came back saying they would refund me for the linens to try and make up for their mistake. I was told on July 29th that I would have a check mailed to me by end of August. I have reached out more than once to see what happened, trying to NOT leave a bad review, I have now gotten no responses to my last 2 emails checking in on the status. It is now the end of September and our wedding was in June!! I would NOT recommend them due to them being shady/not honest/ and they clearly do not care about customer satisfaction. I even advised I would wait to leave the reviews to see if they would even attempt to make things right. I have now been ignored so this is my actual one and ONLY negative review of our wedding!!
Highly recommend using the village for your wedding! You get so much food for the right price, and it all tastes amazing! We had so many people complimenting the food. Staff was excellent to work with and very professional.
Service was prompt and the food was amazing. Loved that they offered gluten free options! super affordable too.
one thing I'd recommend is taking into consideration the number of guests for cocktail hour and the number of appetizers. we ran out fairly quickly.
I cannot recommend this company enough. We used Village Catering Company to cater our wedding this past weekend. They exceeded all expectations on every aspect. Melissa was our head caterer and she was AMAZING. She was personable, experienced, on top of things, and the sweetest woman I’ve ever met. The food was absolutely delicious and made the evening. Every single guest came up to tell me how good the food was, the DJ even gave a shoutout to the food and caterers because it was that delicious! They brought the wrong chargers on accident and that problem was fixed within 20 minutes by the amazing team. They did everything from bartending to cleaning up the venue at the end of the night and it was totally worth it. Highly recommend this catering company!!
Village Catering did and AMAZING job! They came right at 9am to start setting up, so everything was ready for cocktail hour and dinner. The alfredo pasta was sooooooooo good. I got tons of compliments on the food, several guests said it was the best and most tender beef they have ever had. I would highly reccomend using them for your next event!
We had a pasta bar and the food was great and everybody enjoyed it. We had a tasting before hiring them for the wedding and the food was great then too. Unfortunately they were over an hour late getting to the venue and then they were rushed and flustered to get set up. They provided champagne flutes for our toast and poured the champagne for our guests but then started clearing the glasses off the tables before the drinks were even finished. They brought the wrong tea and when they cut our cake they did not cut all of the layers and flavors so we had to cut it ourselves. I had to call to initiate the finalization of the menu and contract right before the final payment was due because I wasn't getting any response from emails or texts. Overall, the food was good but working with them ended up being more stressful leading up to the wedding and the day of.
Village Catering's food was absolutely delicious! Our guests raved about the tender meat, delicious potatoes and pasta dishes, and fresh salad and veggies. The day-of staff was very attentive, kind and helpful. We had a troubling experience with their admin team, who two days before the wedding stated that our invoice had not included the correct cost of a hot chocolate bar and that we still owed them money even though we had already paid the finalized balance two weeks prior. The issue caused us to have to scramble to fulfill the hot chocolate bar needs that were not going to be covered by the catering team due to this mistake. We were disappointed that the admin team did not own up to their mistake and only brought this to our attention with 48 hours notice. Despite this set back, we were still very impressed with the overall quality of the food and the service at the event.
Village Catering's food is fantastic, staff is exceptional, and the experience working with them was almost perfect. It was very hard to give them four stars because they went above and beyond to make sure my Taco Bar dreams came true. They had a special sampling for me and my mom visiting from CA. Everything was perfect until our wedding. Our dinner arrived over a hour and a half late. As anyone knows the timeline for your wedding day is very important. In order to keep on time we had to do our first dance, mother son dance, and cut our cake at the beginning of our reception, and it just threw the whole timeline off. Luckily none of the guests noticed, and all of the guests absolutely loved the tacos and all of the food. The staff at the wedding were so kind and helpful. I really do wish I could give 5 stars, but having food arrive late was just a huge stress on a day that I did not need any extra stress.
I think the wedding food was what I was most nervous for, but Village Catering did not disappoint! We got SO many compliments on how delicious the food was. The beef and cheese stuffed chicken options were so good, the potatoes were delicious, lots of compliments on the veggies too! The woman who was in charge on our wedding night was so kind and polite and kept making sure we were good!
I did feel like the communication was a bit of a mess because it felt like I talked to so many people throughout the process, but it wouldn’t deter me from using them! I also couldn’t be given a concrete time for day-of set up, which was a bit stressful because of centerpieces and decor, but they ended up doing everything on time and it was all hot and delicious and ready to go! Totally worth it for the food!
Thank you Village Catering! 10/10 awesome food!
Where do I start. Their response time averaged between 1-2 weeks. The menu and price did not get finalized until 2 days before my wedding due to poor communication. We had our menu planned as all vegetarian. When we scheduled our tasting they said nothing custom-made, just what they had on site. So when we got there they had pasta, potatoes, and salad for us to try. No main entrees that we selected - had we tried the eggplant parm we would not have ordered it. It was squishy and dry. I repeated the same information probably 10 times to 10 different people every time I tried getting ahold of them- including the allergy of one of our guests - and they still forgot his plate. Then the worst part - all the food they served was cold!! I thought it was just ours because it sat there a few minutes but I had multiple guests say the same thing. The apps were all cold too. There is also a $5,000 MINIMUM which wasn't disclosed until months after we had been planning. We had 50 people. We ordered cider/coffee/donuts for before the ceremony - the donuts didn't get put out until the ceremony began. In the first quote they charged us $150 for the cider/donuts, the second had $200 and the 3rd had $250. So I'm not sure why the same thing went up. I didn't get an arrival time until the day before. Still never received a contact person. I have no positive things to say about this company.
We hired Village Catering for our wedding at the Mohicans Treehouse Resort in Glenmont, OH. We ordered hors d’oeuvres, a plated dinner, and a dessert bar through Village. The food was delicious and well plated, the staff was pleasant, and communication leading up to our wedding day was great. Our guests LOVED the grilled cheese shooters during cocktail hour, and so did we. Highly recommended!
I hired Village Catering for a private 70 person house party and was SO impressed by this companies services. Village Catering and my coordinator Ashleigh was responsive with my initial inquiry (other companies were not) and communications throughout my 3 month planning process was excellent. On the day of the event, 2 sharply dressed caterers appeared with the most delicious food. The guests raved about how perfect every looked and how delicious the food tasted, everything served on time and in the most professional manner. I highly recommend this company and will reach out to rehire for my next event.
Thank you! Michele D - Wooster, Ohio
Got tons of compliments on the food!! We did their Summerville salad, French roasted potatoes, red pepper penne pasta, and asiago Crusted Chicken. All of it was awesome. I also asked if I could have a late night pierogi bar, they said yes and it was a hit! They were very quick with set up (the napkin folding was gorgeous) and everyone got their food in a timely matter, no hiccups or complaints!
We used village catering for our wedding last weekend. We first experienced their food at Today's Bride Bridal event in downtown akron. We sampled their food at a few events and their food was always consistent in taste and quality. Their customer support staff was helpful throughout our planning process. The servers at our event were very professional and efficient. We couldnt have asked for a better catering company to cater our wedding!
Village Catering was truly amazing and went above and beyond for us! They were incredibly patient every step of the way with all our changes and questions! Allison was super responsive and awesome! We hired them for both the rehearsal dinner and for the wedding day, and the food was delicious and well organized! We even had a miscommunication on the rehearsal dinner menu that I totally missed, but Melissa went above and beyond to fix it for us! She was so incredible! Both her and John, our event day coordinators, were incredible and super sweet! And I love that they are a Christian run company! They are extremely respectful and it’s clear they hold themself to great moral standards, they’ve been so great to work with! Highly recommend!
Village Catering was everything we could’ve asked for for wedding catering! Leading up to our wedding, communication was great and VC staff were more than willing to change and adapt as our wedding day details shifted. The food was hot and delicious and the staff was friendly! Everyone left our wedding feeling full and happy. As soon as the first table finished their dinner, we began getting compliments on the food and we’ve been getting them ever since! We barely had any leftovers because people jumped at the chance to get seconds! We would 100% hire this company again!
I had to caterers lined up for my wedding reception, but the Village Catering company blew them out of the water. Ali Sprague was my go-to person and answered so many questions most dutifully and respectfully. The tasting that was set up for my partner and I was very well done. All the food was delicious! We received so many good reviews for our choice of beef medallion, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, apple pecan salad, and the tea we ordered for the tables was delicious! The day of the helpers were respectful and outdid themselves in being helpful! They did more than asked. Thank you.
Village Catering did an awesome job for our wedding day! The food was delicious and served efficiently! The staff was so helpful and friendly at our reception. We got compliments about the asiago crusted chicken and the beef medallions!
The communication leading up to the day was not as perfect as I would have liked and the week before they told us they were no longer able to deliver our sheets cakes for us, which was planned several months ahead of time. However, Brian, the President of Sayre Hospitality Group, called me personally to address my concerns and he made sure that our wedding day was perfect!!!
Our experience with Village Catering Company was nothing short of amazing. Between the communication and food, it was perfect. We had Village Catering at a few weddings in previous years and remembered how wonderful their food was! It was only fitting that we were able to have them cater our own wedding in October. Ali was extremely sweet and very easy to reach out to any at time. The food was exceptional and left our guests pleasantly fulfilled! We are so thankful that we were able to have this company cater for us. Thanks for being such an awesome part of our big day!
The Boxlers
They made the whole catering process easy. The staff that was there the day of the wedding for set up, serving and clean up was helpful, kind and professional. They handled everything that day without any issues. We had so many compliments on the food from wedding guests.
Village Catering Company catered our wedding on 11/18/22 and did an amazing job! Food was sooooo good everyone kept talking about it after. Everything went so smooth the service was fantastic! Would recommend. Thank you! (Allison Foster & Trish are the ones you want to work with, as they are the ones that helped me the most. Both very kind /knowledgeable and on top of things)
The only reason they received the second star is because of Allison, the contact that helped me to gather all of my information. She was very kind and very helpful in anything I needed. If it wasn't for her, they would have only received one star. They were an hour and a half late the day of the wedding, they didn't come prepared at all! They didn't have enough napkins for my place settings, they were wiping plates off because they were oily as they were setting them at tables, I had several of my guests tell me that the sour cream they brought for my baked potato bar was expired or didn't taste right. They were supposed to bring HOT water for my hot cocoa bar which I paid them to take care of and they came with no water, interrupted my father/daughter first look to ask if the water at the venue was drinkable then used MY decorations to fill their water pots with luke warm water...it wasn't even hot. My maid of honor told them that they were using my decorations and that we were going to be using them for an activity and their smart remark was "We'll clean them out". I also paid them extra to tend to and refill my cookie table which they also didn't do because at the end of the night the table was practically empty, but I found 3 full boxes of cookies sitting at the back of the table that were never put out, but could have been. I was told they would offer seconds and they never did. I was told if there were any leftovers we would receive those as well and they never left those either. I had approximately 5-7 guests not attend because of last minute things that came up so in my opinion there was no reason not to call for seconds or have leftovers. I did however see their staff indulging in the food, which is fine, I knew my payment went towards their food too, but they had larger portions than they provided my guests with which I didn't feel was right. This was the worst experience I have had and I would NOT recommend them to anyone. I have reached out to see about correcting the problem and all I get told is, we'll be in contact. My wedding was a week ago and I haven't heard anything from anyone.
VCC was great to work with from start to finish! They communicated well and were responsive through the process. They accommodated to my gluten free needs & dreams for my wedding day!
Our photographer’s assistant (who has been to lots of wedding) - raved about the food & said it was “the best food she has ever had at a wedding” .. now that’s saying something!
We had so many complements on the food on our wedding day and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff! Highly recommend!
The food was delicious, and the staff was great! But I would not recommend renting any linens through here… I arrived to pick mine up only to find they did not have the color that I had requested (discussed much before then), with no notice or call given to me beforehand. I could’ve talked it out with my now husband on the colors and instead had to make the decision without him. The staff was helpful in helping me pick out a replacement color, but I still ended up with three mismatched table clothes.
The food was great, and the tasting when we first tried here was amazing! They also knew my venue already, so it was nice to not have to worry about familiarity.
When we did the tasting for our wedding they only had us try the "popular" items, not which items we were serving at our wedding which I found to be very odd. We were serving steak as one option (which is very expensive) and I had asked prior to try it since I would like to taste what I am paying thousands for. The day of my wedding I had called early in the morning asking for one piece of plan chicken to be set aside. ( We were serving both chicken and steak so I didn't think it would be a huge deal to just have one piece of chicken plain-less work for them). I do realize I called extremely last minute so that is on me. They were extremely accommodating when I called with the last minute change. However they charged me $30 for one single piece of chicken with nothing on it which after the $6,500 spent on the food total, I found to be absolutely absurd for one piece but I do know I asked very last minute. The pasta we got was to die for. The chicken was amazing and got many compliments. Salad and everything else was great. However the steak was not. It was cooked very inconsistently. Some had it cooked perfectly and said it was amazing, mine was way too overcooked, and some were very undercooked. I don't know the first thing about catering and making that much food with having to keep it warm and if it gets cooked more or not while being kept warm but that is just what my experience was. The staff has been fantastic through the whole process though which is a plus. Very helpful and friendly the entire time. Most of the food was great, I just really wish after spending thousands and thousands of dollars we would be able to try exactly which items we want to serve, and not have gotten charged another $30 for one single piece of plain chicken.
I really can’t say enough good things about this company. I struggled a lot in the beginning of my wedding planning trying to find a caterer that could meet all my needs at an affordable price, and Village Catering did just that! They had a wonderful wide variety of food options to choose from. I myself am vegan and had several guests with dietary restrictions and Village Catering had such excellent options. Usually at weddings, the vegan option is some form of a plate of vegetables, but I got to have a delicious butternut squash ravioli! It was great to work directly with them for desserts and my cake as well. The buffet tables were decorated beautifully and the staff were so professional and kind. I also need to give a special shout-out to my main contact Allison F. I lost track of how many times I reached out to her with questions and she was always so quickly responsive and helpful. It made the entire process very easy. Thank you again for all your great work and help!
We highly recommend booking with Village Catering for your wedding day, we promise you won’t be disappointed!! The pricing is AMAZING in comparison to the other caters and honestly the food was DELICIOUS, the service was impeccable by the staff too. When we went for our food tasting to pick out our entrees for wedding day we were blown away by all the samples we were able to try. Wedding day they ran everything smoothly and our guests said it was some of the best food they ever had at a wedding !! Working with Madeline was super easy and we couldn’t be happier we chose Village Catering for our food vendors !!
Madeline at Village Catering made sure every aspect of my precious sons wedding was nothing short of amazing. From the beautiful décor to cocktail hour to the main course. We are so blessed to have found Village Catering, we had a very large amount of guests and everyone raved about the food
thank you Madeline
Village Catering Company offers a wide variety of dinner options, most of which tasted great during our tasting. However, the quality seemed to drop off when it came to the day of our wedding. Our guests did rave about the beef medallion roast being the highlight of their meal, but that's about it. Melissa and her team did a wonderful job accommodating our requests the day of our wedding and that is the only reason this rating isn't lower. Leading up to the event was stressful due to the inconsistent communication we received. In addition to this, we felt like VCC was more concerned with getting every last dollar they could, rather than focusing on making us happy with our caterer decision. Overall, this company isn't worth the value you'll pay.
Village Catering was fairly easy to deal with, considering that I live 3 hours away from where we hosted the rehearsal dinner. The manager at the hotel also communicated with them to ensure the tables were set up in enough time for us to put out centerpieces. The wait staff did a very good job of serving and cleaning up. The food was as expected and tasted good. No complaints—I would use them again.
1 star is too many. Never would use them again. They lost our account, told us to pay what we “think we owe” and once they find it they will refund if we over paid. We choose items like chair covers but was never charged for them even though it was discussed verbally so they never arrived. Since we booked during the Covid pandemic Ali have me the choice of colors of silverware with no additional charge but the wrong color was delivered “she did not recall this conversation” so apparently it didn’t happen and told me it would be a additional charge .75 per set of silverware. We paid our bill off in march and they tried to say we increase the number of people coming to my wedding 3 times and send us a bill for $219 even though we never changed guest count and my venue director told her the same thing multiple times. This place is awful and the food you sample taste nothing like the food the day off. Chicken was incredibly dr. I would never recommend this place
Do not use this company.
Village Catering offers so many items that the hardest part is choosing what to enjoy. The food was outstanding and many guests commented on it. The appetizers were fanciful and delicious. We didn't even notice all the work going on in the background. We highly recommend this group for your event!
I was honored to be apart of a beautiful wedding for a perfect couple and, unfortunately Village Catering tried ruining the BIG day! Typically you should be able to go off of online reviews but, this is DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE! The company(if you want to call them that) was over an hour late to the venue, the bride and groom paid for them to deliver the wedding cake and Village Catering thought it would look better smashed on one side. On top of all that the bride specifically requested for them not to make Alfredo pasta but, once again Village Catering new what the newlyweds wanted and it was obviously Alfredo pasta. Along with the wrong pasta they did not bring enough for the event! I wish I could give them negative stars because they deserve every bit of it with the services they gave the bride and groom. Please stay away!
Overall horrible experience. They were an hour late for dinner, their food was horrible, and they didn’t have enough to feed all the guests. I was one of the last ones to get in line for food and I barely got enough to feed a toddler. The wedding cake they charged to deliver, arrived smashed and almost inedible. Took things that weren’t theirs as well. Don’t waste your time or money on this unprofessional and underprepared company. TRASH
Save yourself a headache. I was a groomsman in a wedding last weekend and this catering company was the only issue. When the bride heard the dinner was going to be late I asked the lady that was serving appetizers and she told me they were only running 15 minutes late. Dinner proceeded to be over an hour late. The cake was smashed and they didn’t even cut it until the last song was playing. Not to mention the bride and groom told them they wanted to save the top of it and they cut it and served it. The last thing you need on your wedding day is to worry about the caterer. Save yourself a headache and choose elsewhere.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Only leaving 1 star because I can’t leave zero. I was in a wedding party last weekend. Dinner was served an hour late. They brought the wrong appetizers and Alfredo pasta which the bride and groom did not order because the bride hates Alfredo. They charged $250 for the delivery of the cake and the cake was smashed when it arrived to the venue. Food also looked nothing like the pictures it was very poor quality and THEY DID NOT BRING ENOUGH FOOD! To top everything off they took zero accountability when these issues were addressed after the fact by the groom to the owner of the company and had nothing but excuses and blamed everyone else for he and his company’s utter incompetence. The owner more rude and company more unprofessional than you can possibly imagine. Do not let these people ruin your wedding too. Do yourself a favor and use someone else.
Village Catering was great to work with. Their food turned out better than at our tasting-we were very impressed. I would say if you offer buffet & pay for both entrees to be served ask them to verbalize to your guests they may have both if they choose. The verbiage was wrong for a short period of time at our wedding, but was fixed when noticed and they went around to each table to let everyone know they could have both entrees if they wanted! - very kind
They were also supposed to put the napkins on the tables for us and my family had to do so. I spoke with them after this they apologized and it was just a misunderstanding. I didnt notice until the tables were almost done.
I defiantly still would recommend this company to cater my wedding again! I would just make sure they are aware of some minor details since its not the same person always that you've been chatting with during the whole process and some things can be confusing :) thank you village catering for making our wedding great!
Village Catering makes not only amazing, delicious food, but is super easy to work with and takes care of all the little details of your wedding food. They staged everything beautifully, served and set everything up properly, and made the entire experience of working with a catering company like a dream.
Ali was phenomenal to work with, patiently answering every question and fielding all my crazy ideas (individually packaged cinnamon rolls by the door for guests on the way out) and last minute requests (allergies, guest counts, etc.). My husband and I were adamant about making sure we had delicious food at our wedding, and Village Catering did NOT disappoint! Thank you Village Catering for making our wedding so beautiful and memorable!
We loved working with the Village Catering Company! Their clean up services were FANTASTIC. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and quick. They handled everything.
Village Catering did a fantastic job! We receive so many compliments on the food, the best one coming from one set of grandparents saying “This is the best food we have ever had at a wedding.”
The staff were very professional and always quick to response to any questions we had. We would definitely recommend Village Catering!
They made my wedding a wonderful day with wonderful food. They were respectful of allergies and ensured that all fold was safe for me to eat (I have severe food allergies). Highly recommend
I had really high hopes for Village Catering in Smithville, OH. We had two tastings, and both were phenomenal! First, they were nice to work with, very responsive and professional. Their service staff is terrific, and I do not want this review to take away from how awesome they were. The room set-up was perfect, they were fun, and they really hustled. The apps were good, as was most of the food; however, a couple of the food items really missed the mark. The pasta was wrong...we ordered pesto and got alfredo. I really dislike alfredo, and this was on par with how I feel about it. My husband said it was good, but still...it was wrong. Ok, so here I go about the chicken: We specifically went for a second tasting to select the perfect chicken. We tried about six varieties from stuffed, to cordon blue, Romano, bruschetta, marsala; and we selected the Piccata. Why? Because it tasted AMAZING. It was by far the most flavorful of the samples we had. I was so excited to have that for our dinner! What was served at the wedding, however, was tasteless and looked so unappetizing. It was absolutely nothing like what we sampled. When I sat down to eat, I looked at the plate and said to my husband "WTF is that?!" When we did the walk-around, I noticed a lot of untouched chicken. I was embarrassed. I let the owner know via email, and it bothers me to not have heard back from them. I do not know what the heck happed with the pasta and chicken, but they were unacceptable.
Village Catering was so wonderful to work with throughout the entire planning process! Not only is the food spectacular, but we made a few changes late in the game after they had given us our proposal and they adjusted no problem. Trish brought our linens out to the venue the day before so we could get all of our tables set up, Ali and Madeline were so helpful with all the administrative/back end stuff, and the day off team were so sweet and helpful! Thank you all so much for helping make our wedding day run smoothly!
We can’t say enough good things about Village Catering! Every step of the wedding planning process was fantastic. They are also responsive to emails with my many questions. The quality of the food is wonderful; our guests could not stop raving about how good the food was. The on-site manager for our wedding day was attentive to guest needs and always came over to ask how we were doing and if we needed anything. Would certainly use them again for any future gathering!
So easy to work with! They always emailed me back very quick. The tasting was organized and the food at our wedding was delicious. We had tons of compliments! The pricing was also very reasonable.
We used Village Catering for our August 21, 2021 wedding. Our initial communication & experience with them for tastings & booking was overall good. It was nice to get a second tasting for some items we were considering, but hadn’t tried the first time. We were not overly impressed with their communication leading into our wedding and day of. I emailed numerous times asking when they’d come view the space the Friday before (venue was private property & they told us they wanted to see the area beforehand) & what time set up would be Saturday as I needed to coordinate someone to place centerpieces after they set tables. Late Thursday, August 19 they finally notified me that visiting Friday wasn’t necessary & they’d stop out around 11 AM Saturday for set up. I paid to have them set the linens, but we just did it ourselves in advance so the centerpieces could be put out since we didn’t know when they’d be arriving Saturday. The lady arrived around 10:30 on Saturday to set up, but she wasn’t aware we had requested family style bread & salads on the tables or where to place the plates. She was confused by why we had 4 8’ tables for them, which was requested by the team & confirmed via email before I rented the tables from my tent vendor. They seemed confused on whether there should be one or two buffet lines, which we left up to their best discretion. A different group actually served our food & they were behind schedule, bread & salad were not on the tables for our introduction like planned & it left us stalling until everyone was served then rushing through some post dinner things to keep on time. Overall the food was decent. Many people complimented the apple salad & bruschetta stuffed chicken. Village catering was highly recommended to us by a few different people and we were a bit disappointed to feel like we just had an ok experience with them.
SO happy with our choice!! We received so many compliments on the food and the staff was easily he most friendly and easy to work with. From start to finish they were all so professional and I can't compliment the food enough. Definitely would recommend.
Extremely happy with our catering experience with Village catering. From the first email response to the last thank you of the catering staff who helped clean up at the end of the event we had a wonderful experience. All communication was professional, quick, helpful, and they answered all of my questions promptly. The set up, service, delivery, and clean up were so wonderful and all the staff was amazing as well. The food was EXCELLENT and we received so many compliments. The variety to choose from was more extensive than we could have imagined with lots of fun choices we didn't find anywhere else. The pricing was extremely competitive and for the quality we received far less expensive than we found anywhere else as well. I did extensive research of many companies and I am so happy I chose Village Catering. Book them, you will be so happy you did and so will your guests!
We used Village Catering for our daughter's wedding in August. For the most part, we were happy; however, some menu items that were chosen during our food tasting were not the same (quality) items that were served at the wedding. We reached out to Village Catering after our event to discuss the disappointment with certain food items, but sadly we still have not heard back from them. They were great to work with up to the day of the wedding, very helpful with menu planning and rentals. I just feel they should have taken the time to address our concerns after the wedding.
We booked Village Catering as our catering company for our wedding at White Rose Barn since it was on their preferred caterers list. They were wonderful! Ali helped us to perfect our menu (adding in special requests like Chicken + Waffles as an appetizer) and get everything situated a few weeks before so we didn't have to worry about catering. Highly recommend!
Working with Village Catering was one of the best decisions that we made during wedding planning. They were responsive, easy to work with, flexible, and the service and food the day of were fantastic. We worked closely with Ali who is one of the events specialists and she did such an amazing job making sure that everything was taken care of, I can't say enough wonderful things about Ali and about working with Village. We definitely recommend!
Wonderful friendly and very helpful staff! Food was spectacular. Had compliments all night from the guest that we want to pass along, from food to staff to service! Would recommend to anyone we know. Thank you very much for helping us with our wedding!
Can’t speak highly enough of them! My sister used them to cater her wedding in 2019 and we were super impressed by them, so of course my husband and I used them for ours as well! They are so kind and helpful. Made our day very stress free! Also, their food is amazing! Tastes just as good on the wedding days as it tastes when you try it!
I cannot speak highly enough of these individuals and this organization!! Two days before our son's wedding, his hired caterer bolted. With ONLY 2 days notice, Village Catering put on an absolutely lovely wedding reception -- supplying linens, china, and gracious , top-knotch servers. The food was delicious and amazing. They created a lovely wedding celebration when the other caterer nearly wrecked a wedding.
BTW-- I contacted Village Catering the day before Thanksgiving 2020 (an extremely busy time for them) and this celebration took place the day after Thanksgiving. Cudos to Village Catering! And a million thank yous to Village Catering for a job very well done!
Village Catering went beyond our expectations as far as quality of food and service on the day of. They were punctual, kind, friendly, and the food was SO DELICIOUS. Guests from my wedding are still talking about the beef that was served. I chose Village Catering after going to a wedding they catered previously because the food was THAT good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Village catering did a great job catering our wedding. Ali, who I was in contact with for over 2 years since we had to reschedule our wedding 3 times was so responsive and checked in a bunch. We went and did a tasting beforehand and the guests LOVED the food. They even provided 2 gf and df meal options for two of my bridesmaids. They got over 160 people through a buffet line in about 30 minutes which was insane. We rented linens from them also and the two women who set them up did a great job and were so friendly. They did a full cleanup of plates & glasses and we're awesome to have at our wedding! I would recommend them to anyone.
I cannot say enough good things about Village Catering. After our initial tasting we struggled to pick out our menu because everything was FANTASTIC. For one of our entrées we picked the beef medallions - - many of our guests said it was the best they've ever had. Their prices are reasonable, the staff was wonderful - - they really helped our day go off without a hitch. Thank you Village Catering!
Village Catering Company was the best choice we could have made for food! Even though our wedding was only a week and a half ago, we are still getting people who are raving about the food! Everybody was so accommodating especially during Covid. We had booked Village back in November of 2019 and had our tasting too. Our tasting was super low key and fun. That’s what made my now husband snd I choose them! They were amazing about getting into contact with us about anything and everything. I am so happy with the choices we had made with our meal. While we were out getting pictures, the staff made sure to put a plate of appetizers at our table. They were so thoughtful. Not only did they provide food, but they helped with set up, tear down, lines, plates, sliverware, etc. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!
Village Catering Company was one of the absolute best choices we made for our wedding. From day one, they were so accommodating and made sure we had a memorable and tasty wedding. There are a few things that really stand out to guests at a wedding with food being one of the most important.
Village hosted us for a tasting and we were so impressed that we booked them right away because of the service and attention as well as the affordability. We could not believe that food that tasted so good could be so affordable as well as the linens and China that we rented through them!
From the moment my partner and I stepped in the door at Village, we felt so cared for despite the fact that we are a same-sex couple. I specifically mention this as the wedding planning process was stressful as a same-sex couple with the history of couples being discriminated against based on sexuality. Brian and his team did not care about this and still treated us like every other couple.
At the wedding, the ladies setting up the day took all the stress and burden off of us. They could see that I was frantic trying to get miscellaneous details together and they asked what they could do to help and told me they have things taken care of. They were so very helpful and made the day so stress free.
They are all so professional and the food was phenomenal. I will continue to use Village in the future for my catering needs especially around the upcoming holidays.
Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. This caterer is professional and courteous. The food was wonderful. Highly recommend this caterer.
The village catering company exceeded our expectations! Brian was an absolute pleasure to work with and SO organized. They were in contact with us about every detail and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! They were on time and we got so many compliments on our food and table set up thanks to them. Thank you so much to your kind staff for everything you guys did to make our wedding a dream!!!
The food, the service, and even down to the menu selection process everything was so smooth and easy! The food was amazing! No words to describe how well everyone at my rehearsal dinner said the food and service was! PERFECTION all around!
We are so happy with the food from Village Catering. It was so nice to be able to customize our own menu to have on our wedding day. EVERYONE thought it was outstanding. The office crew who walked us through our tasting, paperwork and final details were extremely helpful and kind. They are a very flexible company and can do just about whatever you could dream of. I would highly reccomend!
So happy with Village Catering! We used them for our wedding this weekend and they were phenomenal. Ali was great to work with and answered all my questions. The owner, Brian was even at our event serving our guests and checking in with us. The food was fantastic and our guests raved! The beef medallions were my favorite and Brian made my mashed potato bar dream come true! While there were a lot of fees (including the COVID fee which I agree with other reviews wasn’t communicated except for showing up on the invoice), I felt it was reasonable. The wedding industry is struggling along with brides and Brian was very flexible with the significant reduction in our guest count and even offered us to use their event center for free if our venue fell through due to COVID. I’m happy to help support a fantastic local business through tough times and I highly recommend them!
They have amazing food and are so easy to work with. Highly recommend!!!
When our wedding had to be postponed due to COVID, Brian and Alli jumped right in and helped me figure everything out. They were so gracious in the entire experience. The food was also phenomenal. I had so many guests ask who catered and that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding!!!! Village Catering is the absolute best.
Everything was awesome!! Working with Ali was seamless and stress free. Back and forth communication was always very quick and in a timely fashion. We got a TON of compliments on how great the food was the day of our wedding.
Honestly, have zero complaints.
Village Catering's food was delicious! Through COVID-19 they were very willing to be flexible towards the needs required by the Health Department and last minute changes. Highly recommend!
Ali was absolutely wonderful to work with. From tasting to final details, she was easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs. Village catering is really a one stop shop with great food, table setup, and decor for rent. The servers at the reception were so nice and greatly appreciated. They always made sure we were happy and stayed the whole time. Everything was served using safety precautions and everything was boxed up neat. They went above and beyond our expectations.
Village Catering Company was a remarkable catering service! Our expectations were met and then some! From our initial tasting with Brian and his team to my last email with Ali, we were beyond pleased with their services. Ali eased my mind on many occasions! The last few weeks before the wedding, things get hectic, Ali was an email away and was ready for any question I had for her.
We had them provide our linens; there was a slight mix up on the day before (missing linens for our cookie tables), all taken care of with a phone call.
They had the table linens in place the day before our wedding, allowing ample time for our florist to work her magic!
The appetizers were delicious! Not a meatball or bacon wrap was left! The staff even made a small dish for the head table to enjoy. (Would love to know what was in those bacon wraps!)
We did a combination family-style and buffet line. It worked out great! Salad and rolls on the table family style. So many guests raved about the food! Pulled pork, parmesan encrusted chicken, roasted vegetables, two kinds of macaroni and cheese all of it was a hit! We wanted our guests to have options and not be limited to one entrée or the other; VC was accommodating to our requests. Leftovers were boxed up nicely for us.
The staff working the night of our wedding was so personable to us and our guests. We chose to have our cake cut and served by VC and so glad we did, worth the bit additional of money.
Village Catering left us a personalized gift, so thoughtful and appreciated.
Everyone loved the food. It turned out even better than the food we had during our tasting. Brian did an excellent job. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. They went above and beyond.
Village Catering Co. was a dream to work with. Ali was so responsive whenever we had questions- which was all of the time! Brian was flexible and was able to work out a payment plan with my family. There were a few times that it felt that the staff wasn't on the same page, but issues were resolved quickly every time. We received so many compliments on our food and would choose Village Catering Co. over and over again.
Village Catering Company was easy to work with. They answered all my questions, clarifying those small details. Everyone said that our food was delicious! They gave us a personalized gift which I thought was very thoughtful. We made the right decision in choosing to work with them!
We have nothing but good things to say about Village Catering company. They exceeded our expectations on every aspect of their service! We would recommend Village Catering to anyone without hesitation.
Village Catering Company was an awesome caterer and provided us with linens for our tables, flatware, and silverware. They arrived on time for our planner to be able to set up the dinner tables early and make sure all the details were right. The buffet line we decided on was very clean and simple, making it easy for everyone to see what was available. Every one of my guests said they loved every piece of food they chose. The workers who released the tables and interacted with the guests were great, and they did a great job helping the people with food allergies. Every person we interacted with at the company from the taste testing, contacting them with questions, and the people on the day of were great.
Village Catering was everything we could have wanted and more. Bryan and the staff knew what we needed and wanted before we did! I would recommend them always. One the remarks I got most often after the wedding was...the food was amazing.
The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great! They helped so much during the reception and even gave us an unexpected gift! I would definitely recommend village catering!
Highly recommend! From start to finish, everyone we met and talked with was extremely professional. Brian makes sure that everything you want for your big day is what you are going to get. The food is amazing, we still have guests talking about it. We also got our linens and plates/silverware from Village Catering and it made it so much easier to just have everything through one company! They arrived super early to set up all of our linens and table settings, they even set up our centerpiece items that we sat at each table. Then they came back with the hot food to set up for dinner and we chose the clean up package which I would recommend. We had 2 workers stay all night, cleaned up tables at the end and gathered up all of our centerpieces so it was easy for us to package up. They had the food all packaged up for us at the end of the night, and even helped us how to figure out how to get all of our leftover cupcakes home (cake place did not leave us boxes)! Overall we had an amazing experience with them, and looking forward to recommending them and hopefully using them again in the future!!
I can fully recommend Village Catering for your food, dessert, linens, and place settings. Brian and his team are very easy to work with and made the experience very smooth and relaxed. We had a great tasting session and then came back to taste dessert. We got a great selection of appetizers and had a great buffet style dinner with 2 entrees, salad, vegetables, and pasta. Brian also made us a selection of mini desserts that were delicious. We also got linens, gold silverware, and plates. Everything was smooth and Brian and his team stay in contact throughout the process. We also found the price to be very reasonable. I don't think you will find a better overall catering experience than Village.
We had a super experience with this caterer. We received many compliments on the food and the people were terrific to work with. I highly recommend them for your special day!!
Important Details... My wedding was last weekend. I had a unique situation where I live in California and both our families live in Ohio. So we decided to have our wedding in Ohio. I went with Village Catering because of their good reviews. I was right to choose them! I know everyone says this in their reviews, but people really were walking around and talking about how good the food was. The gal in charge of my particular day was Ali, she's smart and sweet to work with. They asked about my theme a lot to make sure whatever they brought as decor matched. Really past my original meeting with them they did their own thing and got everything done well. Ali was even understanding at a few changes I made closer to the cut off day. We did a buffet style and through Village Catering it was done much better. Instead of the choice between chicken or red meat people got to have both and they even allowed people to come back for seconds (which if you've never had a wedding before - most places don't do this. AND they gave us our left overs, which most weddings never get to take home!) Also, and this was important to me - coming from California we had a lot of vegetarians coming. They allowed us to do their veggie lasagna as a "side" so there was plenty for everyone. In the end, the lasagna was my favorite part. So if you're debating on Village Catering, know I would use them again in a heart beat and yes, their food is just as good at the wedding as it is at the tasting.
