one leading up to our BIG DAY! Janice was very easy to work with and was always quick at responding to any questions that we had, even when last minute questions or changes came up. She was always accessible mainly via text and our consultation meetings which really helped in making the planning process go smoothly and comfortably. We had chosen the partial package since we had all of our vendors already chosen and set in motion, as well as having most of our ideas set from the beginning (centerpiece ideas, party favors, etc). Janice and her team were always so professional and helpful and really made our wedding day feel nothing but happiness, fun, and overall just stress free. It was organized and arranged beautifully and I could not have been any happier on our wedding day. What I think helped the most in ensuring this process went smoothly was that I made sure to ask questions early on or anytime something popped up in my head whether it was to Janice or to my vendors. I would recommend to any couple planning for their wedding to have their ideas or preferences somewhat thought of early on and set to be less stressful. I definitely had changes that came along during my wedding planning and by discussing with Janice those changes early, I felt like she gave me the autonomy to still have a part in my wedding planning and being able to do things that fit my visionary to have my ideal wedding. Definitely communication is key, so I think just being open and communicating with Janice frequently helped a lot. I ended up more stressed, more hands-on, and disappointed that I spent so much money for so little support. During the initial meeting, Janice seemed helpful, she asked questions I hadn’t considered yet and gave me worksheets to stay on track. But as my wedding approached, communication and follow-through completely fell apart. Even just days before the wedding, vendors were still contacting me directly. The day of the wedding was where things went from disappointing to unacceptable. While I was getting my makeup done, vendors were still calling me instead of her. Then, an hour before my ceremony while I was in the middle of my photos after my first look, Janice called to say the ceremony venue had been rained on and asked if I wanted to move the ceremony indoors. Rather than calmly presenting options or giving her professional recommendation, she pressured me to decide on my own on the spot, adding unnecessary stress to an already emotional moment. This is exactly the kind of situation a day-of coordinator is supposed to handle to protect the bride from stress. When I arrived at the venue after deciding to move indoors, she and her team were nowhere to be found. No one gave me instructions on where to go, I couldn’t reach her by phone, and the venue staff had to step in to hide me so my guests wouldn’t see me and my bridal party before the ceremony. This was disorganized, unprofessional, and completely contrary to what I paid for. There was also no AC during my ceremony. My guests and I were dripping in sweat, and there was zero air circulation. It was uncomfortable! She could have coordinated with the venue POC to have the AC on during the ceremony. Throughout the process, Janice’s tone and replies to me were consistently condescending and dismissive instead of being helpful, providing advice and guidance as stated in her package. When I emphasized that having time to dance was important to me, her response was not to offer advice or a solution, but to condescendingly ask " what do you want to remove from the timeline then?" On the actual day, even after we removed a photo session to save time, we still fell 30+minutes behind and she failed to tell me. My MOH and Best Man were left waiting to give speeches while Janice was nowhere to be found again. It was my emcee who finally came to tell me we were falling behind schedule. I paid for a coordinator so that I could enjoy my day without worrying about logistics, vendors, or timing, and instead, I felt completely unprotected, stressed, and on my own. I expected professionalism, communication, and leadership. What I got was condescension, disorganization, and silence at the moments when I needed her the most. Hiring Janice was unfortunately one of my biggest regrets of my wedding planning process. I am writing this review so other couples/future brides know exactly what they are signing up for and can make a fully informed decision before trusting her with one of the most important days of their lives. PS - I feel it is important to share that she asks brides to write positive reviews on multiple platforms in order to receive a free gift after the wedding. If you are going to give a gift, it should be a genuine gesture to celebrate being part of the couple’s wedding day, and not a bribe for good reviews.

Coordination. It spoke to exactly where we were in the planning process. We had booked our venue and some vendors, but got overwhelmed with details and hit a wall. I felt instant relief after our first consultation. Janice was warm but still regimented and prepared. She knew every rule about our venue by heart, and also knew exactly what questions to ask us to get the information she needed to shape a game plan. Everything will seem like a mess until suddenly, just before the wedding, it all falls into place. And that is what you hire Janice for! She knows exactly what steps need to be taken and when, and most importantly is able to coordinate all of it. What sets Wedding Planner 808 apart: (1) Industry experience and connections - Janice is an industry veteran. I swear she knows every vendor on Oahu. She also has close relationships with many of them and can arrange for special perks if she refers you to them, but she will not pressure you and will help you choose the right vendor for your needs. (2) Professional but personable - Janice knows exactly what she needs to get out of every consultation and will keep you on track. But even in a short meeting she’ll find ways to get to know you as a couple. She has your best interests at heart and genuinely wants to help you have the best wedding day. (3) Value - Make no mistake, you’re not paying for just x number hours’ worth of consultations, you are paying for hundreds of hours of time saved trying to plan yourself. Janice will streamline coordination between vendors, look over contract details, and plan your wedding day timeline. You’re not only getting her services, but decades of knowledge. It would have taken us so much effort to even choose what time to do photos with guests, but Janice knew exactly what time sunset pictures would look best on the lanai at the venue. (4) Smooth event day coordination - Janice and her assistants handled so much on the wedding day. They showed up several hours early to make the rain call, coordinated all our guests at arrival, photos and dinner, coordinated between vendors including at setup, during the wedding and at breakdown, and even personally set up our welcome table and party favors. We completely forgot to collect the borrowed centerpiece vases at the end of the night. Janice not only collected them without fuss, but returned them to our florist, saving us the late fee, all outside of her contract scope. To summarize, we got great value out of Wedding Planner 808 as a somewhat proactive couple, but who were overwhelmed and needing help connecting all the dots. Janice was regimented enough to keep us on track, but also flexible enough to cater to what we felt were our most pressing needs. I will say Janice is extremely busy, and you will need to be especially proactive at contacting her. She is quickest to respond over text and phone and not so much over email. You may need to advocate for yourself to meet sooner than later if you are feeling a time crunch, but she is very amenable to working around your busy schedule too. We would highly recommend Wedding Planner 808 to couples that need an experienced, organized, responsible and yet still personable and friendly planner to bring it all together.

That was a huge relief, given the months of stress and worry caused by her shortcomings. Now, onto the bad… **Unhelpful:** Janice added little value during the planning phase. We planned every detail ourselves but had to relay those plans during calls—only to repeat them when she forgot. For example, when we asked for advice on string lights, like where outlets were or if extension cords were needed, her response was, “Vendors usually do that.” …which isn’t very helpful. Similarly, when we asked about venue-provided speakers, she said, “I dunno, the DJ usually does that.” But we didn’t have a DJ! We hired her to help us through these details, not defer them. Her planning materials were equally unhelpful. Her budget spreadsheet was poorly formatted and riddled with errors. On Zoom calls, we watched as she input numbers incorrectly. We ended up making our own budget and planning sheets because her tools were unusable. **Slow:** Janice was quite slow to respond to message, but even worse was procrastinating important tasks. For instance, she said she’d reserve a rehearsal time with the venue, but after asking five times, we still had no confirmation. Her excuse was that they hadn’t responded. We finally called the venue ourselves and booked it in two minutes. If we hadn’t taken the initiative, we would’ve lost another month of planning. The worst delay, however, was with a contract we requested through Petals & Promises. It took her six months to send it. An entire half-year! **Unprofessional:** One very alarming issue was when she shared another client’s personal information during a call. She displayed their names, venue, wedding date, phone number, schedule, and other PII. This privacy breach made us question whether our information was secure with her. Another issue that caused us stress two weeks before our wedding was when Janice casually informed us her team couldn’t set up our chairs, despite having known the details for six months. With no backup plan, she said she’d call other vendors, which would cost $1,000–$2,000—if she could even find someone. At this point, we had no trust in her ability to deliver and spent hours sourcing quotes ourselves. This last-minute problem caused enormous stress right before our wedding. **Summary:** While Janice was fine for day-of coordination, the lead-up to our wedding was riddled with issues that she caused or failed to resolve. A wedding planner should alleviate stress, not add to it, especially when charging thousands of dollars. While our wedding day was amazing, it was despite her planning efforts—not because of them.

Looking back, if we did not select the package with those additional services, it would have been way more stressful and complicated. I'm so glad Janice took care of it! She was very mindful of our budget and was transparent with us. If there were any small details for vendor invoices, she asked us if we still wanted it and made note of how much we would be spending/saving if we had/didn't have it. An example of this was when I initially requested the linens vendor to have cocktail table covers that were floor-length. She later saw the invoice and asked us if we still wanted them because the cocktail hour would go by super quickly and no one would really notice it, and that we would be saving $300+ that could go to drinks instead. I appreciated that she brought up small details like that to our attention to make us double-check things in case we changed our minds. Looking back, she was right about the cocktail hour. It went by fast and everyone still had a great time! Janice did a great job in helping us space out, schedule, and remind us of our check-ins with her. She was super cool, patient, and understanding when there were reschedules or if we still needed more time to figure out some details. Before each check-in, I'd be a little nervous but during and after, I'd be relieved. She never showed any kind of bad attitude and always remained friendly and calm which allowed us to do the same and enjoy the planning process. She responded to texts and calls right away which we appreciated a lot. She also communicated with our wedding venue events coordinator which was super helpful. We also appreciated that Janice understood Filipino culture and family/friend dynamics. She explained the different Filipino cultural ceremonies and the types of roles that relatives can have and made sure we knew our options. She also gave real and relatable advice while we worked on our guest list/seating which was very helpful. The rehearsal went by smoothly. I really appreciated that she was very detailed. She explained which hand goes where, where to stop, how long to pause, which way to turn, walk slower, etc. To some, it might be a pain or unnecessary, but I'm a detail-oriented person so these kinds of pointers were perfect for me! On the day of the wedding, there was some decor that I forgot to label and describe how I wanted them (check-in table and arch drapes/flowers), and so on the day-of, I only briefly described to her how I wanted it and also showed a photo I quickly found online (LOL). I was a little worried that it wasn't going to turn out the way I envisioned it but when she managed to put everything together really well, better than I even envisioned! Later in the day I asked her how we were doing on time because I was worried we were off schedule but she said we're good and that she always adds in buffer time to everything which was a relief! What I love about what she offers, she can cater to everyone needs from full blown planning, partial planning, and day of coordinated. We went with partial since we already picked out our venue and most of our vendors. I had no direction or really guide on how to plan the wedding (I never thought I would have a wedding) and so with Janice direction it gave me piece of mind and little things I never thought I needed to know... The day of our wedding her and her team kept everything running smoothly. I did not have to think, I just follow.. Oh and you know how people say that don't really eat at their wedding.. That's a myth! We ate our pupus and we were ahead of schedule and really ate our dinner. Thank you Janice!

And we were able to completely relax and enjoy the day. The success of our biggest day was in no small part thanks directly to Janice.

Through this stressful period, Janice was responsive and was able to work with us through the changes. As the wedding day grew closer, Janice reached out to make sure we completed all the meetings we needed to confirm the timeline and all other items. Her initiative was much appreciated during that busy time. On the wedding day, we had Dasia, Shanon, and Jane executing the wedding. They were so wonderful and on top of things! They arrived at the venue before the wedding party did and received our flower delivery. When the wedding party was taking photos, Shanon was actively helping with fixing the wedding dress. They made sure things were moving smoothly and we were sticking to the timeline. If anything went wrong on the wedding day, we didn't know about it, so Dasia, Shanon, and Jane must have taken care of it! The wedding day was long and could've been stressful, but Janice, Dasia, Shanon, and Jane were excellent in taking care of the details and executing the wedding with our vision in mind. We knew we needed a Day of Coordinator since we didn't want to put all the stress on family or friends, and luckily my cousins referred me to Janice. We started chatting 5-weeks from the big day and WOW there were so many details I never would have thought of if not for Janice. She is so organized, detailed, and is a great resource for recommendations and suggestions. Most of the wedding was DIY so I would show Janice general things I wanted and how they should be. I wanted our family and friends to simply be present and enjoy the day. She made sure that everything was in order and in place, on time at every step of the way. My fiance proposed in February of 2020, and because of Covid we postponed our 2020 wedding to '21, then again to 2022. She stayed the course with us and it was all worth the wait. Beyond being extremely professional, she is a wonderful human, and having that kind of loving, positive energy around our wedding was awesome! Janice is well-connected to an amazing team of the best vendors in Hawaii. Utilize her knowledge and connections! Some details were in place 2 years in advance...and others, as any bride will tell you, just don't get executed until the last minute. The night before our wedding I had realized I didn't have name cards for my assigned seating. She gave me a phone number, a short conversation was had, and 16 hours later there were 220 gorgeous hand-written name cards in place at our reception! Janice has a solution for every situation. She is incredibly organized. We had a large wedding with dozens of vendors and she triple-checked every contract, stayed in communication with each vendor, and made sure everyone had to correct timeline for a smooth flow. I did not get any questions from a single vendor on the day of. Isn't that fantastic?! I got to fully enjoy marrying the love of my life. 100% recommend Janice!!

She also, recommended some vendors that helped fit with our budget! Planning this wedding was very difficult during COVID because many of the vendors we contacted were backed up on emails and it was just hard to get a hold of someone. Janice did a great job in following up with our vendors and updating us, ensuring that everything fell in place for our wedding. Some things we wanted to share that really made us appreciate Janice and her work was that two weeks before the wedding, restrictions got tighter. We needed to submit mitigation plan and have that approved in order for our wedding to happen. Of course as any couple would, we panicked. As we contacted Janice about the situation, she reassured us that she already got a plan submitted and it was waiting for approval. How awesome was that?! Another thing that really topped it off was that there were a lot of minimums payments that some companies wanted. We were really bummed when she told us that this one vendor couldn’t let us rent an altar because they wanted us to spend a minimum payment. Janice, however, knew someone who could customize the altar that we wanted. It was a short notice but our altar looked amazing and it was what we both imagined it to be. Janice is on it with everything and very knowledgeable because she has been in the wedding industry for a while now. We trusted her judgment and recommendation when we were planning. She was easy to work with and we both felt like we were planning along side with a friend. While planning, we knew that there were little things required from us for her, which was no problem. Overall, she was the one that executed the wedding we wanted! We appreciate what she has done for us during the planning and the day of our wedding! We highly recommend Janice, Wedding Planner 808!
