Ariel lives with her fiance and adorable dog, Pippin, in Highland Park, Illinois. In her small, moody green office she writes about a wide range of topics, from food and cooking to technology and even cryptocurrency. She’s most passionate about helping people find the right tools (from pantry ingredients to paint colors) to make their everyday lives better.
Experience
After receiving her bachelors’ degree from NYU, Ariel worked for five years at Gilt Groupe, where she rose up through the editorial team from editorial assistant to managing editor. While she was there, she attended night classes at the Institute of Culinary Education to broaden her knowledge of food and cooking. (She even worked weekends at Soho’s Osteria Morini.) From there, she moved fulltime into the food world at Serious Eats, where she built the commerce program from the ground up, managing relationships with affiliate partners, writing and editing content, and developing a content strategy that would drive revenue while also delivering value to Serious Eats’s audience.
While at Serious Eats, Ariel developed a roster of freelance clients, writing for tech giants like GitHub and publications like New York Magazine. With enough experience under her belt, she eventually took the dive into full-time freelance life and hasn’t looked back.
Education
Ariel graduated with honors from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2011. She also attended and graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education’s Culinary Arts Program in 2013.
