Shyla is an Editor at The Knot Worldwide, where she writes and edits content, with a particular focus on SEO optimization. She has worked in digital media for over a decade, covering celebrities, books, and other aspects of pop culture and entertainment.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Shyla still calls the city home, where she lives with her dog, Bailey. In her free time, she enjoys discovering new restaurants, watching K-dramas, and reading romance and mystery novels.

Experience

Shyla has always been captivated by storytelling. A lifelong reader, she majored in English at Lafayette College before beginning a career as an entertainment writer and red carpet reporter. After freelancing for outlets including PopSugar and InStyle, she joined BuzzFeed as a Pop Culture Writer, eventually rising to Senior Editor and Celebrity Strategist. In these roles, she interviewed numerous authors and celebrities, creating engaging stories that resonated with wide audiences.

Following her time at BuzzFeed, Shyla worked as an Editor and Brand Strategy Manager at Phenomenal Media and later as Senior Entertainment Editor at The Messenger. Her bylines also include People, Reader’s Digest, StyleCaster, Dipsea, and more.

EducationShyla is a proud graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where she majored in English. While in college, she served as Events Chairman of Delta Delta Delta sorority and co-chair of the Lafayette Activities Forum, organizing concerts, socials, and other campus events. She also interned at Sterling Engagements, assisting with wedding and event planning.

Additionally, Shyla is an alum of the Tessera Editorial Training and Mentorship program, which supports editors of color interested in book publishing.
