Let me begin by saying, I was getting married in a town clerk's office.... Literally. I was. My now husband and I are well... Old. Okay: mature (in our 50's. late 50's!) and we have been there, done that. I had a conversation with Jamie Bohlin ...from Cape Cod Celebrations, just by chance and before I knew it, I was having a wedding. In Chatham. On New Year's Day. My husband was deploying to Afghanistan 5 weeks after our marriage so we just thought the two of us, a civil ceremony until Jamie took over and did she ever! She planned it all unbeknownst to me because I literally wanted to be surprised. After all, there would be no guests, just us.
How do I describe this enchanted evening to give it the credit it deserves? Imagine: The Chatham Bars Inn, all decorated for the holidays, a private room overlooking the ocean, completely ours with one table, a tiered wedding cake, a full ceremony with a justice of the peace straight from heaven, a most stunning wedding bouquet, dazzling dinner, a professional photographer who spent so much time with us, inside, outside on the grounds..... And the wedding suite! More than I ever imagined, roaring fireplace in the bedroom, a dozen roses, champagne. Jamie did all this. She brought us both to tears many times in a way we never expected. She told us we should have the wedding of our dreams even if it was just me and Jim because we waited all of our lives for each other, having known each other for 20 years. You meet her and you just trust her and her instincts, her ideas, her vision. She gave us magic and sent my husband away with a memory instead of the formality we had originally planned on. She is amazing. And I am so grateful. So, yes, I had the wedding I never knew I wanted because of Cape Cod Celebrations.
