I scheduled online appointments, as these services were an option with this stylist. I went in for hair updo and make up to be completed. I have never been to this salon before nor familiar with any of the stylists so I had faith that anyone I ...picked would be competent enough to complete these services.
When I sat in the salon chair and discussed the services to be completed it was relayed to me that the stylist does not do many updos although never stated that she was not comfortable with completing what I had asked to be done. I showed pictures to her of options that I would have been okay with achieving and she began to work on my hair. When she was halfway through the first attempt it was nothing close to what was shown and seen in pictures and I expressed my concerns towards what was done thus far. In attempt to make things more simple, I showed her my very simple wedding hair I had done with close up shots of the back and sides and asked if we could just try this instead. She then attempted and unfortunately again turned out very similar to the first two trials and she was unsure of what to do with the back of it once she felt everything was pinned how it should look. I stated to her that I could not wear what she had done to my own wedding reception and asked to just stop with the hair updo altogether. She attempted to ask if she could try half up/half down instead of an updo I had requested for but I told her to just complete my make up instead and I would try to fix my own hair. She asked if I wanted to have another stylist complete my updo. I stated at that point either way, she then asked the stylist next to her if she could complete my updo, but the stylist did not have time in her schedule for an add in especially unexpected like that.
So, we proceeded to make-up. I had a light application of my own make up on and had to state that to her before she began. I was then asked if she could just apply her make up additionally onto mine, or if I wanted to remove. Im not sure if that is normal to ask of someone who is coming in for a full make-up application or not, but it threw me off a little. I have had my make-up done professionally several times, but I have never had my makeup done at a professional salon where make up is thrown all together in a original make up bag including brushes in there as well and some of the make up used is also the stylist personal make up as well? I felt unsure that the brushes used were properly sanitary and clean beings I saw them all thrown in a make up bag. She did use disposable mascara brushes that made me more relieved. I felt that the make up application was just thrown together in a sense. I was not color matched to foundation and ended up being pale in normal lighting out of your salon. There was also no contouring which is what I have experienced with the price you pay for a full make up application.
Now, I do want to say that as this was for my wedding reception, and not my actual wedding day I did not schedule a trial because it was as less pressing and important in a sense... yet I never thought that this would have occurred regardless since I was asking for such a simple updo and make up application.
