Kristy was extremely responsive to our many, many questions and emails about our wedding day. Everyone at Shepherd's Hollow was very helpful the week of the wedding and the day off. They help set up half the room after you set up the first half of the room, which is extremely helpful for those setting up.
I never imagined myself having my reception at a golf course because I feel like too many people do that and I wanted to be different than others. Well, Shepherd's Hollow was the best decision I made about our reception. Because of the layout of the course and the wonderfully, beautiful tall pine trees, you can't even see a hole from the reception venue. Everyone commented on how magically beautiful Shepherd's Hollow was and how different it was because of the wrap around porch, outdoor dance floor, and the fact that it was surrounded by beautiful woods.

I must have emailed Kristy a thousand times and never waited more than 30 minutes for a response no matter the time or day. They were extremely flexible and creative when assisting me plan my special day, they even set-up and allowed me to have a drink tasting with the head bartender (Kara) and it was such a fun experience! The chef's food was delicious, organic, locally produced and loved by all of my guests. Our guests raved about the venue and the food and my family and I cannot say enough about how helpful Kristy, Amanda and all the staff were despite impending rain, a delayed dinner start thanks to my dad's lovely but long welcome speech, and a whole lot of overly "happy" guests. Everything was perfect.
Between my mom and I there were several details for Kristy to remember leading up to the big day and she recalled every single one! The bridal party got ready and ate lunch at the venue (they have a beautiful room upstairs) and the spread of food was exceptional. One of my bridesmaids is a gluten free vegan and the chef created a lasagna dish for dinner (made with rice) that even vegetarians and meat-eaters loved...though of course we had a duet plate option too. Some of our guests did not drink and the venue was able to provide sparkling cider so they could still participate in the toasts. Thank you.

with trees, the grounds also have several locations a short walk from the patio and tent area with trees great for picture taking. It is a golf course, but the staff did a great job keeping golfers away during the ceremony, if there was anyone there I didn’t notice them! I loved the outdoor ceremony with the reception area under the tent that had lights strung through it. The chandeliers under the tent make it the prettiest tent I’ve ever been in! It was an unseasonably cold day but with the sides of the tent down and heaters on the temperature under the tent was perfect and a welcome relief from how toasty the dance floor gets with a bunch of people on it!
The food was delicious! The dual plate of beef and chicken made it easy to please all the guests without having to worry keeping track of who wants what meal – you just get both! Many guests commented on how good the food was and Pine Trace was very accommodating for our gluten free and allergy guests. The roasted red skin potatoes were amazing! All of the appetizers were super tasty and they set aside plates of them for us at the head table since we missed cocktail hour for taking pictures which was appreciated!
Kristy was great to work with, very responsive to emails. She and Amanda made set up the day of super easy and made everything go perfectly, having someone to make sure everyone knew where they needed to be and when they needed to walk for the ceremony processional was incredibly helpful. Cost of the venue was in the same ballpark or a little less than other venues we looked at in the Metro area making it a great value. Definitely recommend, I wouldn’t have changed anything!

Most all of our 82 guests remarked on the tall pines and gorgeous surroundings. I'm not sure how this place has escaped our attention having lived in Michigan most of our lives. estly, the night was just perfect. It felt intimate and romantic. The big covered porch, outdoor dance floor and lighting strung over the back patio, and the hundreds of pine trees surrounding you make it completely magical. Even a little bit of rain made it feel even more so. We absolutely could not have been more thankful and thrilled to have our wedding reception at Shepherd's Hollow. We have had countless comments from family and friends-- whether it was how great their meal was, how beautiful the venue is, or attentive the staff was. The only thing that bothered me was that there was no water on the tables when we arrived and they did not go around and offer soft drinks, tea or coffee to the guests while passing out the Champagne punch. We had to request that they bring out water to everyone. One server did seem annoyed every time I went to speak to her about the food or drinks,etc. Almost like she knew what she was doing and I did not need to ask, although I would not have had to ask if the water and drinks were put out as planned.
The two Coordinators, Kristy and Kelly, were both great to work with and very accommodating with last minute changes and requests that came up.
Overall the experience was great and we will definitely keep them in mind for future events.

uality of the food. He made sure we got exactly what we wanted and no one had a complaint which is hard to do with 120 guests! On top of that the bar was included in the price. It sounds odd to say but with other friends getting married and paying by the consumption it was nice to have no worries at the end of the night if our guests drank 1 glass or a 20.
Another great point to mention is the staff went above and beyond to help set up with our vendors and ensure things were done right. Plus, at the end of the night they helped break things down for us so that we didn’t have to stress. Shepherds Hollow is such a gorgeous place that you don’t have to put much time and money into making it your perfect day/night!

we had 107 people at our wedding and everyone was comfortable and had plenty of room to move around. So all in all this place is perfect to have a get together with your family and friends. Our dinner was amazing also we had the chicken vernise and green beans it was so good everyone's plate was clean. Also we had one vegetarian and they put together a plate for her at the last minute and it was delicious.

Although everyone was exhausted, not one cross word was said. Since the reception, so many family members and friends have raved about the reception itself and Shepherd's Hollow. Several out-of-towners were amazed that Shepherd's Hollow is a public course. It presents itself like a private course.
All in all, I could not have anticipated how great my experience with Shepherd's Hollow was, and will gladly refer friends and family.

Kristy (the events manager) & Jessie (the cook) were a pleasure to work with. They also allowed us to utilize carts and the course to take really nice pictures. They make sure everything is organized and to your liking. The ceremony was excellent because they stop golfer traffic! They are very organized and accommodating.
Food: The food was wonderful! We received so many compliments and we actually had many guests ask for an additional helping which they were provided without charge. The food was hot when it came out and perfectly cooked.
Service: The wait staff was extremely helpful and nice. They worked really hard to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable.
Value: Pine Trace is the best deal as a wedding package within Oakland county. We received excellent appetizers butler served, champagne toast for all guests, free cake cutting/serving, salad, rolls, duet plate, veggies, and starch! It was all excellent and fresh!

It is an indoor/outdoor venue where a smaller "clubhouse" room opens into a larger tent area with a cement floor and while this was originally concerning to me (because of the size and the unpredictability of the weather), it honestly turned out perfect. We even had a thunderstorm DURING speeches/dinner but it didn't affect anything. Everyone was perfectly covered and comfortable. The tent looked gorgeous at night and I got hundreds of complements about the venue. The staff went above and beyond the entire evening. I cannot say enough positive comments about Pine Trace. I would HIGHLY recommend having an event here.

When we first visited Shepherds Hollow we were stunned by the lovely setting of the club house. After a long hunt for a venue, we knew this was the place. The windy road to the club house, surrounded by tall trees, takes you to a white colonial style club house with a wraparound porch. The setting is very romantic. The interior of the club house offers a beautiful bar and several French doors to the outdoors offering plenty of ambient light. We loved the venue so much, we even decided to have our reception dinner there, which worked out great.
After the wedding, all our guests raved about Shepherds Hollow. They said it felt very relaxing with a great vibe. Everyone had a great time and I think the venue had a lot to do with that.
In addition to the beautiful club house, Shepherds Hollow offers the most beautiful bridal suite I’ve seen. The bridal suite offers plenty of room and more French doors to a large terrace. I really enjoyed getting ready there and relaxing with my bridesmaids and friends.
This review would not be complete if I did not mention the food. We required an all vegan menu and the chef prepared a custom vegan menu for us with many options to choose from. The food was high quality, delicious, and exceeded our expectations. The chef even included bread from Zingerman’s, which is our favorite bakery. The chef and the rest of the staff were really friendly, genuine, and accommodating. The coordinator was very responsive to all my emails and questions.
Shepherd’s Hollow offers the feeling of “up north” without the hassles of the additional travel. The ambiance is very romantic and relaxing. I would strongly recommend this venue for intimate weddings with under 100 guests.

Nestled in the pine trees, the drive leading up to the venue was beautiful. The southern style porch,floral arrangements and professionally landscaped entrance was perfect to welcome our guests.

Another important note is that the food there is fantastic. I have been to plenty of weddings where the venue is gorgeous, but the food borders on unedible. Pine Trace is not like that at all; in fact, I'm still getting compliments on the food! We had a plated dinner of chicken parmesean and beef tenderloin, and also opted for the deluxe dessert bar. Definitely worth it. We opted to have a small cake to cut, and serve mini cupcakes for everyone else along with what was offered at the dessert bar, and everyone seemed to enjoy it, because it gave them lots of tasty options.
I didn't have a worry in the world that day, because the staff was so wonderful about keeping me updated and making sure that everything was set up perfectly. Honestly, it turned out even more beautiful then I could imagine, and teardown went by so quickly that it was unbelievable.
I would recommend this venue to anyone, and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work with such great people.

nd I fell in love so we changed venues which was the best decision. We had about 120 guests which was the perfect size since it is a little bit smaller of a place, however created the type of romance and intimacy that we had wanted. Everything from the ceremony to the outdoor dance floor to the food to the bar was incredible. The staff at SH were wonderful to work with and super flexible with things we wanted to have and bring in for the wedding, including a candy table, specialty drinks, microbrews on tap, water and lemonade table for guests during the ceremony, etc. The price was great for what it included and they made sure everything was where it needed to be. The grounds were gorgeous for pictures and we were able to take out a couple golf carts onto the green. It reminded me of a southern plantation in the middle of up north Michigan with all the red wood pines. It was very magical and provided a beautiful ceremony background for photos. All in all, if you are having a small wedding...book it here.

We had our Ceremony and reception here. Service was impeccable and the evening was perfect. If you are looking for an intimate beautiful setting with great food, choose Shepherd'd Hollow for sure!

I've been with Shepherd's Hollow & Pine Trace for 12 years and truly love what I do. I love helping our couples put together the day they've dreamed about. It's about so much more than putting on a great event though. It's about helping our couples start a new chapter and make lifelong memories. Many of our couples come see us on their anniversary or celebrate their baby shower with us. It’s such a joy to build such lasting relationships. A little about me personally, I’m a graduate of the University of Michigan. I love to volunteer with my Kiwanis club and enjoy all things travel & Disney.
