The Shalom Imaginative Photo + Video

The Shalom Imaginative was the perfect photographer for our day. Nate captured the exact style we wanted, candid & low key. He knew how to shoot the best spots in the venue to highlight the vintage/classic look we were going for. A few people have commented on how the photos made us look like we were from a vanity fair shoot! The film addition is a definite must. I would recommend Nate & the Shalom Imaginative team for a wedding or any other event!

Nate and the entire Shalom Imaginative team are amazing. I found them through Instagram and immediately fell in love with their style of photography. My husband and I hired Nate for our engagement and wedding photos and could not be happier with the results. We were both nervous for our engagement shoot, but getting photographed by Nate was like hanging out with a close friend. A year later when we reconnected at our wedding, it was as if no time had gone by. Looking through our photos truly takes us back to our wedding day and makes us so happy. We chose the Shalom Imaginative because we wanted documentary photos for our wedding rather than cliche staged photos. Igor was our photographer and he was funny and made us feel at ease. The photos themselves are fantastic and exactly what I wanted. We thought the price was reasonable and we are very pleased with the photos that truly captured the day.

Hello! Congrats on your wedding day! We went with this vendor for my wedding because a friend used them and it turned out great! Igor was amazing for theirs, and we got Nate who was really friendly and nice. Unfortunately I saw my photos and cried. I specifically didn't want photos where my mouth was open, when I exited out of my car because I needed time to adjust my dress. Even though I had asked to please stop taking photos upon exit, and even though we had a meeting and I explained how important it was that I not look like a fish these photos were still included in the album. It was so much money- these are terrible shots- I legit keep crying everytime I see my wedding photos- overall they are fine- he used a lot of flash....which didn't reflect well on my glasses... I feel robbed. If I could do this process over, I would have had another photographer or let my family take them. Ask for their bloopers- and make sure you take the option for a second person- because I wish there were more photos and that I, as the bride, didn't have my mouth open in shots I paid a lot of money for.

My husband and I had such an amazing experience with Nate and his team! From the initial meeting to the day of, he was extremely professional and kind. He made us feel so relaxed and comfortable when taking our couple photos as well. The photos turned out absolutely amazing. Nate and his team were such a great addition to our big day!

Throughout the entire planning wedding photos were my biggest priority. It’s the one thing from the wedding day you will have to live with forever (besides your spouse, hopefully). I really wanted a more timeless photojournalistic approach than the super posed, super filtered wedding photos you see everywhere currently. We chose Shalom Imaginative. Nate photographed my wedding last August. We were planning from a different state than our California wedding. He was an incredible communicator. He made everything easy and suggested a great site for photos in Burbank/Glendale. He was so kind and patient and the photos were beautiful. I couldn’t be happier.

We absolutely loved working with the Shalom Imaginative! They were incredibly flexible with us as we had to reschedule/meander the challenges of the pandemic. Igor did an absolutely incredible job of capturing our day. We're not people who are used to be photographed, but Igor really just blended into the background and made us feel comfortable. We loved working with The Shalom Imaginative!! We were trying to find a photographer rather last minute for our intimate family wedding, and reached out less than 2 months before our event. Nate was super responsive and helpful in talking us through our options with them. He was also very attentive and understanding of our concerns regarding safety in the pandemic. Communication before, during, and after our event was so easy and transparent. We never felt rushed or pushed to make a decision until we were ready. The actual day, we had Vanessa photograph our wedding and Sloane on video. We met with both Nate and Vanessa before the wedding to talk through the schedules and ideas, and it was super helpful. Nate even found a location close to the wedding where we could escape for sunset photos. Both Vanessa and Sloane were wonderful to work with during the day. They were the perfect mix of blending in to capture the day without being intrusive, but also helpful and fun to chat with and it felt like they were one of the guests. They were flexible throughout the evening, and had great suggestions on where the best photos would be and great ideas. We felt comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. We love the style of the photos, nothing is too stylized or feels fake. When we look at our photos, we feel like the best version of ourselves. The photos and videos really capture the intimacy, beauty, and fun from our wedding. We would love to work with The Shalom Imaginative again, and look forward to it!

I have worked with Nate a few times and I have to say, this time he went above an beyond for my clients. Covid brought many challenges and Nate was so accommodating when we had to move dates, venues, adjust guest size and just about everything. He had a great live stream system and worked very closely with our live musician and technicians to make sure everything was perfect. We had our wedding planned for 2020 but had to cancel because of COVID. Nate was really flexible working with us to instead have a small wedding with just a few people and to capture that and to livestream it to everyone who couldn’t be there. Can’t say enough good about how they helped us still have a fun wedding even in the midst of everything.

My fiancé and I hired Nate for our recent engagement shoot. He was super communicative and made the process streamlined and straight forward. This was our first time taking professional photos, and Nate made it feel familiar yet special for us. We had nearly hired another photographer prior to discovering The Shalom Imaginative, but we are so happy we went in this direction. Nate understood our vision, choosing the perfect time of day to get the colours and lighting we desired, and truly capturing the essence of our relationship. He made us feel natural and excited about the experience, rather than awkward and uncomfortable. It's like we had known him for years! As far as the day of the shoot went, Nate was punctual, courteous, and professional. We shot for 2+ hours and it flew by! We received our album less than 2 weeks later, with more than 250 amazing photos included - UNREAL! Note that our first shoot location was so so so windy, and he still managed to capture multiple great images!! The feedback we have received from family and friends on the images and album has been overwhelmingly positive. I cannot say enough good things about Nate and The Shalom Imaginative, and we hope that we can work with him/them again in the future!

Nate and his team were amazing! He took my engagement photos along with capturing my wedding. They did such a great job running the livestream for my wedding, capturing stunning photos with their own personal style, and making me and everyone else feel at ease. Nate was the most amazing photographer / videographer we could have asked for! Our wedding got postponed because of Covid and they were so understanding and accommodating. And even in 100 plus degree heat somehow Nate and his team were able to capture amazing photos while keeping the heat in mind for us and the guests. They also took drone photos which turned out phenomenal! Beyond the quality of their work they are the sweetest and easiest people to work with which made all the difference!

Working with the Shalom Imaginative was more than we could've asked for! My husband and I are ocean people and were really set on trying to do something in the water for our engagement pictures. Nate worked with us do take pictures of us on several different water craft (boat, dory boat, paddle boards) and even jumped in and braved the cold water and waves with us to get the most gorgeous pictures of us doing what we love! Then onto the wedding this past weekend. We had so much uncertainty leading up to our big day. We had to move our date back from May, and were trying our best to figure out how to make our September date work out. Nate answered all of my questions and was such a solid person who brought some stability to the chaos. He was right on time, walked us through each step of the day, got all of the the pictures we requested and more without making it seem like we were pulled away from the action or missing out on any part of the festivities! My husband and I had never worked with a photographer before and were so worried about looking unnatural and posed in our pictures. Nate captured beautiful pictures with our loved ones and between myself and my husband that are so effortless and natural. Hiring the Shalom Imaginative was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Their portfolio speaks for itself and what struck me most as we were shopping for a photographer was how impressive Shalom's full photo deliveries were compared to others we saw: just photo after photo of beautifully captured shots that showed rare talent and care - in ALL their albums. We were also happy to hear that they were a solo duo as opposed to a larger team, so we could trust we'd end up with exactly the kind of work we saw on their site. Nate was the solo photographer for our wedding day, and did an incredible job capturing our event, our people, and our favorite parts of the day (and, some we’d forgotten about until looking at the photos). What a fantastically creative team to work with! The Shalom team were simply delightful - collaborative, communicative, effortlessly charismatic! Not only are Nate and Amanda incredibly talented, but they are wonderful collaborators! Nate and Amanda shot our 2014 wedding in NYC. After trolling wedding photographers and falling half-asleep from the same cheesy wedding poses I found Shalom Imaginative. At the time I don't believe they had anything Manhattan-esque in their portfolio and thought their unique perspective and style would be refreshing. They also offer non-traditional mixed media packages (think animated GIFs/live photos) just to keep things spicy. We met and immediately hit the ground running; very cool professionals who end up more as friends than a professional photography unit. Highly recommended!

Amanda & Nate with The Shalom Imaginative are magical. They create a memory of your wedding day that is both flawless, personal and pure story telling. One of the best decisions I made (aside from marrying my wife) was working with Nate and Amanda for our wedding photos and video. It started with their online questionnaire, where it became evident that they wanted to know who we were and how to connect with us. We then had a Skype session to get to know each other better, discuss logistics, and qualm my photography nerves. On the day of our wedding, Nate and Amanda provided a comfortable, fun, relaxed, and memorable experience. They blended in with friends and family and captured our most sacred moments. During our more scripted photos, they asked us questions about how we met, our favorite things about each other, and solicited other stories. It was a day filled with laughter and love. I never felt uncomfortable in front of the camera -- honestly I didn't even notice they were filming or shooting most of the time. And the photos!!! I cannot express our gratitude for the photos and video of our wedding day. There was nothing they missed. I am still so impressed with the 10ish min video they put together. They somehow managed to fit in all 10 hours into this short film that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. The quality, timeliness, artful perspective, and professionalism of these photos and the video are beyond what I could have ever expected. We are just so pleased with the final product; and loved the entire experience of working with Nate and Amanda.

When it came to planning our wedding, we immediately decided photography was at the very top of our priority list. Flowers eventually wilt and the food quickly disappears, but the images from your special day are something you can treasure for an entire lifetime. Photographers were the first vendors we searched for and one day I happened to come across Nate and Amanda's beautiful photography on Pinterest! It didn't take long for us to know they were the photographers of our dreams. We reached out to them and from the very beginning we felt such a genuine connection with them. They went above and beyond when it came to absolutely everything. They even went out of their way to arrange their travel plans so that it was the most budget friendly for us. Not only did they do this, but they joined us for a hike at our favorite place and did an extra shoot for us the night before we got married. What I love most about Nate and Amanda's style is how their photography tells a genuine story. The images they create aren't stiff and posed, they are real, raw, and filled with emotion. They make you feel something, which is just so beautiful in itself. Another wonderful thing about Nate and Amanda is that they really take the time to get to know you. They weren't just another wedding vendor to us. They became our friends. We recently met up with them again and they did a shoot for us capturing our life just before our first baby arrives. The images they created for us both recently and almost four years ago on our wedding are so, so special to us. They have been the sweetest gift and we'll treasure them forever. When looking for a photographer for our wedding in 2016, I knew that I needed to find someone with a style that would be timeless & would capture the real essence of the day so that I would be transported whenever I looked at them. Nate & Amanda work together seamlessly and were exactly what I wanted. Their presence on our wedding day was so calming and friendly. It was so fun to adventure with them. Before the wedding they made a point of getting to know us so that when we met in person, it was easy to relax in front of the camera. I also loved that we got to go on an adventure the next day to the beach and the forest. Nate & Amanda took the time to let us be ourselves and gave very minimal direction. I believe them to be the best at finding the natural essence of a couple and of the small moments that make up the blur that is a wedding day. When my wife and I tasked Amanda and Nate to photograph our wedding I was midway through one of the most stressful professional periods of my life. Because of this, my hair had fallen out in patches all over my head. It was a disaster. Nate and Amanda used seamless editing to repair the damage to my scalp in an undetectable way. Our wedding also ran along a tight financial line. We cut a lot of corners with the knowledge that good photographers would make up the difference. Amanda and Nate transformed our day into something truly extraordinary. The two of them captured our second hand wedding in a light that gave it a timeless and elegant look. Aside from there professional skill, they where also charming, funny and genuinely good people. My wife and I feel that we have made life long friends.

Literally the best ever! Choosing The Shalom Imaginative as our wedding photographer and videographer was probably the BEST decision my husband and I made while planning our wedding. Shalom also took our engagement photos and I've had so many friends ask me who our photographer was, saying that our shoot was so gorgeous (not to toot my own horn, but toot toot!). Aside from their amazing photography skills, I think one thing that stands out about Nate and Amanda is their documentary style approach to photography. Looking back at our photos and video, I can really look back and remember everything about our wedding day. We couldn't have asked for a better photography experience for our wedding in 2016 than Nate & Amanda. We ended up having three shoots with them- our rehearsal dinner, our wedding, and the morning after the wedding, and we love all three sets of pictures so much because they all capture so beautifully the mood, our emotions, what was going on, but in a very non-invasive way. Our biggest priority when we were searching for photographers was that we didn't want to feel the presence of the camera. Nate & Amanda do such a great job of capturing every emotion and movement, but without ever leaving you feeling claustrophobic or camera-shy. They take their time to get to know you and capture you as a couple and it really shows in their photos. We also loved that they had no time restrictions the day of our wedding- they stayed and photographed until the night came to a close. The quality of their pictures is amazing and we've gotten endless compliments over the last few years. Overall couldn't have asked for a better set of photographers, and we loved working with them so much that we've asked them to do a photoshoot with us later this year!

Nate and Amanda are the dream team. From the very first meeting, we knew we were in excellent hands. I fell in love with their collection online, and they traveled first to NYC to shoot our Engagement photos, and then Santa Cruz to shoot our wedding. They are thoughtful, patient, attentive, creative, and present. They are easygoing, yet they tell a story. By developing an environment of trust, my now-husband and I knew that Nate and Amanda would capture everything we had hoped for and more. And they did! We couldn't recommend them more highly.

These two are a dream team. They work so hard to get the perfect images of your day, and have a great eye for the details and capturing the moments that you never want to forget. I still feel overwhelmed with joy every time I look at my wedding photos-you can feel the emotions and relive the experience every time you look at them. For me, it wasn’t just their style of photography that caught my eye, but also their relaxed presence just meant they slotted into the preparations and partying beautifully. They didn’t overtake the day and dictate the images they wanted like so many of my friends wedding photographers have done. Everything was so easy and natural with them. I would thoroughly recommend them and am so unbelievably thankful to both of them.

Nate was incredible to have as our wedding photographer. He’s very relaxed, professional, easygoing, and the photos were absolutely gorgeous! If you’re looking for someone who really aims to capture moments as they happen rather than focusing on posing, you’ve found the right one! A great photographer is the best wedding investment you can make, and I can’t say enough good things about Nate & the Shalom Imaginitive.

We had the most wonderful time working with Nate and Amanda for our wedding in 2016. They captured our big day in the most amazing way and we will forever be grateful. In fact, they left such a lasting impression that my sister in Scotland(!) has insisted on flying them over from California to capture her big day, too later this year. My [now] wife Britney spent months looking for a photographer (or photography team) to capture our big day and we really knew Amanda and Nate were the right partners for us after speaking with them for the first time. They made it personal and intimate and made us feel as though they could bring our vision to life - which they did! When my husband and I began to plan our wedding we knew that the photography / videography would be one of the most important aspects. I spent months searching for the perfect photographer and it was love at fist sight when I saw Nate & Amanda's work. They are an incredible couple and are SO easy to work with. On the day of our wedding they were incredibly discreet and professional and captured everything beautifully, they are so great at making you feel comfortable and natural. When we got everything back (in a very timely manner) it was like a dream, everything was beyond perfect from the photos to our video. We have a slideshow picture frame that we put all of our wedding photos on and I still love looking at them 2 years later they are so beautiful. I could not recommend Nate & Amanda more and I am waiting for the day that we can hire them once again!
