Who is Witney Carson's Husband, Carson McAllister?
Witney Carson is married to Carson McAllister. Currently a mechanical engineer, he took a gap between high school and college to go on a two-year mission to Romania with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When he returned, he enrolled at Utah Valley University and obtained his degree in 2022.
"Words can't describe how proud I am of this guy! It's been six long years of rigorous work, sacrificing for me and my career, and here he is as a mechanical engineer graduate," the So You Think You Can Dance alum wrote in a 2022 Instagram post. "Today, all of his professors told me how intelligent Carson is, and I was just beaming with pride! The sky is the limit for you babe!"
How Witney Carson & Carson McAllister Met
Witney Carson met her husband in high school—but McAllister had his eye on the dancer long before they officially crossed paths. "She was my dream girl since 7th grade. But she didn't know I existed until senior year," McAllister told People. "We became really close friends and kinda started dating. From the second I got to know her, I could tell she was the most loving and understanding girl I'd ever met."
After taking their romance long-distance for McAllister's mission trip and Carson's time on So You Think You Can Dance, they rekindled things once they reunited. But, as they told the publication, it wasn't smooth sailing at first. "Our first date when he came home, I took him to a grocery store," she said. "It was the most awkward first date ever, because it felt like we still knew each other but things had changed so much."
She continued, "After a few more dates, it started to get a little bit more comfortable and then I invited him to Cancún with my family. That was the trip that we really knew that we were meant for each other and that we wanted to get married to each other."
Look Back on Witney Carson & Carson McAllister's Wedding
After getting engaged in 2015, Witney Carson and her husband Carson McAllister got married on New Year's Day in 2016. The rustic winter wedding was planned in three short months with the help of celebrity wedding planner Mikie Russo. "Surprisingly, I didn't know how much work goes into a wedding!" the bride exclusively told The Knot at the time. "Luckily, I had my wedding planner, my mom and my mother-in-law; otherwise I'd be in so much trouble! They were wedding planner geniuses."
Despite the short timeline, Russo told The Knot that Carson was the epitome of calm on the big day. "Witney was the most relaxed bride I've ever come across," he told us. "She was able to enjoy every single moment of the day."
Carson wore a Rivini by Rita Vinieris wedding dress with long sleeves and intricate lace detailing, while her bridesmaids—including fellow DWTS dancers Emma Slater, Lindsay Arnold, Jenna Johnson and Brittany Cherry—wore fawn Amsale gowns with matching wraps.
Actor and director Alfonso Ribeiro, who won season 19 of DWTS with Carson, also attended the wedding. He was joined by his wife, Angela Unkrich and their sons, Anders Reyn Ribeiro and Alfonso Lincoln Ribeiro, Jr., who served as Carson and McAllister's ring bearer.
With help from her vendors, Carson enjoyed the creative planning process. "I loved getting to pick the decor and the flowers," she shared. "I think that's what makes a wedding, and I got to use my creativity, which I love to do!" Carson's husband and father-in-law also contributed to the decor by building a candle centerpiece suspended from the ceiling.
L Floral Studio designed the bridal party's bouquets and floral arrangements. The reception took place at Noah's Event Venue in Lindon, Utah. The venue decor had a "rustic, woodsy" feel, which continued the theme of their magical engagement photos.
Guests enjoyed prime rib, salmon and grilled chicken for dinner, as well as a hot cocoa bar with dessert. Sugar Kisses provided the naked wedding cake, which was presented on top of a tree stump. Guests were also treated to Sugar Kisses cupcakes, which included flavors like "chocolate grasshopper" and red velvet.
Of course, Carson and McAllister's wedding day wouldn't be complete without a post-ceremony dance. "My favorite moment of the day was [when] Witney and Carson broke out into a 30-second fully choreographed routine after their first dance," Russo recalled. "It totally set the tone for the rest of the wedding reception, which was fun, fun, fun!"
But it was an unexpected moment that touched the bride's heart. "My favorite part of the day was when my cousin read a note from my brother Jaxon (who's in France)," she recalled. "It was so heartfelt and honestly made me feel like he was there."
