We selected Miraglia Catering to cater our wedding at the Brazilian Room primarily because of their outstanding reviews. We, however, did not have the same experience as others. To be completely transparent, when we informed management of the n...umerous issues, they were quick to respond and offer multiple apologies. To this, we are grateful, but unfortunately, we can only hold our wedding once.
The most significant issue was the mix up between rectangular tables and round tables. We ordered rectangular, but they delivered round. This turned out to be a nightmare. The seating was designed with long rectangular tables so even if a married couple appears to be at two different tables, they are still seated together. Since the Miraglia staff made no/little effort to contact the rental company, my friends took over the situation to get the status of the delivery. After waiting 2 hours and right before I was to walk down the aisle, we were forced to give up on what I envisioned my wedding reception to look like and use the round tables instead. This resulted in my friends frantically decorating tables and rearranging the seating charts that we had carefully planned. Needless to say, my closest friends of over 20 years who all flew is from around country were forced to miss my wedding ceremony in order to ensure that the room was at least a semblance of what we had planned. You could imagine how any bride would feel.
Second, at 18 guests were not served the meal that they selected. The Miraglia staff informed our guests that they had to take what remained since they served their meal to someone else. One family was hungry enough to leave the wedding since they could not eat the remaining options.
We understand that mistakes happen, but, to me, it was the icing on the cake with dealing with Karen's attitude from the moment we sent in our deposit. I understand that she has coordinated hundreds of weddings, but this was my first and (hopefully) only wedding. Customer service would dictate that a caterer should treat each client as individuals and not with a passive aggressive, dismissive attitude to simple questions. For the six months before the wedding, this attitude was not well received by me. In some of my requests or questions, she was fast to dismiss my request with the perceived 'I know what I'm doing and you don't' attitude. This was mostly true of any cultural requirements we asked. I am absolutely certain that this was not done maliciously nor with malintent, but this type of cavalier attitude made it more difficult to forgive human error that as far as we knew was not her fault.
Lastly, when I asked the Brazilian Room why the AV system was not delivered to the wedding, they stated that the caterer staff should have gotten these items for us. I was unaware that I needed to go through Miraglia for these items since this was my first event at the Brazilian Room. Since Karen has done so many weddings there, I believe she should have asked what else we needed. Someone on their staff either asked or had the facility turn on the fireplace, which is something else I ordered; why wouldn't she ask about the AV system or any other items I needed? Because of this mix up only a few people could actually hear the ceremony.
I'm submitting a 2-star review instead of a 1-star mainly because of the speed and sincerity of their multiple apologies
