The South Coast Quartet (SCQ) is an outgrowth of the four of us singing in a group called the South Coast Singers, a 50 person choral group that does two big shows each year, one in June and another in December, in Orange County, CA. We specialize in jazz arrangements a la Manhattan Transfer. One of us (Perry, tenor), was a member of the original Disneyland barbershop quartet, the Dapper Dans. Another (Dennis, bass) sang close harmony with a quartet in college (UCLA) that performed at the Hollywood Bowl and is a member of a 50s/60s rock and roll band. Ginger (soprano) is an accomplished solo artist and is featured regularly in the performances of the South Coast Singers.
