Wedding Processional: Can My Son Walk Me Down the Aisle?

Q:

I have a dear sister-in-law who is about to get married. She is having a very simple wedding, but she is facing one uncertainty. Her father is deceased and she has three sons. We're wondering if it would be okay for her oldest son to give her away at her wedding.

A:

Absolutely. In fact, if she would like all three of her sons to escort her down the aisle, that's completely appropriate. The idea is for the bride to be escorted by the person (or people!) from whom she wants a blessing to enter into her marriage. Having all three sons walk down the aisle with her is a wonderful way to include them.
