If you’re looking for a photographer hire Jay and Larissa IMMEDIATELY. It’s truly that simple- but if you want to continue reading here’s essentially a love letter to them. I originally reached out to Henington Studios for my wedding after seeing one of their photos on the venue’s Instagram. It had such an artsy, fun vibe to it and immediately they became my first choice. My husband and I had a call with Jay and Larissa and they were so friendly and genuinely curious to learn about us. We had an adventure session in the summer at Montrose Harbor and it was truly so much fun! I loved the photos from it, and it was great to learn how to work with Jay. Fast forward to the wedding, I felt a few nerves that morning as everything was kicking off. However as soon as Jay and Larissa arrived it was like I immediately knew everything was going to go wonderful. They made me feel so at ease even with a camera all around me. Many of our guests have commented that they were everywhere that night and seeing the photos this is 100% true. They perfectly captured every moment of our wedding. Every time I look through the photos I find a new one to love. Thank you Jay and Larissa for everything, you are a joy to work with and the proof is in the photos. We will be back, maybe soon, for our next life adventure!!!!

We wish we could give more than 5 stars because Larissa and Jay are incredible, not only on the day of our wedding but throughout the entire process! From the initial meeting over the phone, they were so laid back and easy going we knew we had made the right choice picking them as our photographers. We got a preview of their talent during our Adventure session with Jay taking beautiful pictures in an awesome location. Larissa was great about answering all our questions, giving us recommendations for vendors and our day of timeline and introducing elements to our day like the photo dash which all our guests thoroughly enjoyed. On the day of, we felt so comfortable with them, they kept us on task all while making us laugh and above all things relaying that they were creating beautiful work. And boy were they right about that… we are absolutely in love with our pictures! They are all we hoped for and more! We can’t recommend them enough and can’t wait to hopefully work with them in the future!

Larissa and Jay are AMAZING photographers to work with and also great people. After seeing their portfolio and our initial conversation with them, we knew that they were the perfect duo to capture not only our engagements photos but our wedding day. They have a unique perspective on capturing not only all the same details but the candid moments as well that made our wedding photos truly special. We are in love with how all our photos turned out!

Jay and Larissa are absolutely wonderful to work with! Jay did our engagement shoot back in the summer of 2020 and it was so much fun. It was the perfect way to get "practice" shots in before the wedding. During our engagement shoot, Jay found so many wonderful spots for us to stop and take photos near the lake and in our neighborhood, which was the exact vibe we were going for. The pictures turned out so pretty. Both Jay and Larissa shot our wedding in November 2021 and spent the entire day with us. The pictures are so stunning and capture all the beautiful moments of the day - both small and big. They were also so helpful with ordering photos from the album. Not only did Jay and Larissa provide us beautiful photos to remember our wedding forever, but they are also just amazing people to hang out with! You want to spend your wedding day surrounded by great people, family, and vendors and Jay and Larissa hit the mark on being both very talented and lovely people.

My fiance and I booked them for our wedding in Oct 2022, and have only had our Adventure Session. But WOW!! Jay did such an amazing job with capturing our love! I cannot wait to have them photograph our wedding!!!

We couldn't have chosen better photographers than the Heningtons. We had the Heningtons fly out to Colorado and shoot both our engagement photos and wedding day photos. It's hard to express how beautiful these photos are. The photos the Heningtons took are so artistic, and such a masterful representation of the landscape, our relationship and our community that we know we will treasure them forever. We printed out copies for our guests, as well as have about fifteen prints decorating our walls. We also just love Jay and Larissa - they are funny, down to earth, and easy going. We are so lucky that we found them, and thoroughly recommend this duo!

I can not praise the Heningtons enough! They shot both our engagement photos and our wedding day and we ecstatic we found them. They always look for interesting angles and unique perspectives. They are also fabulous editors. They have a critical eye for color saturation and depth of field. Each photo tells a beautiful story. They are true artists and masters in their field. They are not only incredible photographers but they are also amazing human beings. We had a blast taking our pictures with them. My husband and I are not comfortable at all taking pictures but the Heningtons made it a fun and engaging experience. I am so thrilled that we chose them to photograph our special day. I loved working with Henington Photography! They were so great to work with and made my husband and I both feel calm and comfortable in front of multiple cameras (which is hard to do when you’re not used to being photographed!) Their pictures are absolutely stunning. I knew I wanted them to shoot our wedding immediately after I saw their work on The Knot! The have such a beautiful style, unlike any other wedding photography I’ve seen before. Larissa did our engagement pictures and we loved working with her so much, we decided that hiring a second photographer would be the right move for our wedding. Stop! Look no further because even if you do, you're not going to find a better photographer / videographer powerhouse. Weddings are stressful regardless of how laid back you try to make them but this amazing photographer / videographer duo listened to our sensitivities, executed our vision beyond our wildest dreams and managed to capture the spirit, magic and energy of our day. It was important to us to capture the realness and emotion from our wedding and to not feel staged or forced to "stand here, look this way and smile," and their creativity and ingenuity allowed us to be ourselves and manifest real heartfelt emotions even when we were doing formal photos. The two of them quickly became our favorite people at our wedding and it was a true honor having them shoot our wedding. Their work paid an unbelievable, cherished and unmatched tribute to our day, our family and our daughter. My husband and I have been looking for excuses to hire them again. You won't find a better, more amazing powerhouse couple, I can promise you that.

Jay is wonderful to work with! We booked him for our original wedding date of 7/25/20, which we had to postpone until 7/24/21. He shot our engagement photos, and our small ceremony on 7/25/20, and we can't wait to work with him again for our big ceremony on 7/24/21. He made us feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera, and found some great places for us to take our photos. Would definitely recommend him!

From the beginning we really liked Larissa Henington because of her down-to-earth kindness. She was professional and thoughtful in answering our questions as we were talking to various photographers. What drew us to her photography was the stunning portraits, sweet candids and her kindness. During our engagement shoot she made it a breeze and really fun. We were so pleased with the photos (especially since neither my husband nor I love posing and being the center of attention for so long). On our wedding day, Larissa blended in so naturally, took charge when necessary telling us, our wedding party and family where to go, and really seemed to enjoy being there, which made her a comforting presence. When we made requests, she received them kindly and delivered every time. We received our photos at the time she had promised us, and we were just overjoyed. Looking through them helped us not only re-live the day but discover more happy moments we didn't have a chance to enjoy because it went by in a blur. The Heningtons are artistic and have such a great eye for capturing beauty and emotion and their editing is phenomenal. The photos actually added to our joy. In summary, Larissa is professional, very talented, fun to work with, and so nice. Of all the decisions we made in wedding planning, choosing Henington Photography was undoubtedly one of the very best ones. We have absolutely no regrets and have photos to cherish for a lifetime. We had Henington Photograohy for our wedding . They did an awesome job capturing the day! Very professional, you didn’t even know they were there, yet they produced amazing photos! We are flying them to Florida for a family reunion in February! Highly recommended !!!

I have never met a couple that is so passionate about what they do! They’re So much fun to work with and all of our photos have turned out amazing!!!! We have used them for 4 photo sessions already and I wouldn’t change it for the world!!!

A 1775 former Spanish Mission, and a 1926 enigmatic seaside tower known as the “Pirate Tower” surrounded by high tide and viciously large waves by the Pacific Ocean -these were two of the dramatic settings we chose to go for our engagement photoshoot and we are so pleased we chose Jay of Henington Photography to capture this special moment for us! Everyone was literally in awe when they saw our creative portraits especially the dramatic splashing of the waves Jay was able to boldly capture while we were standing in the middle of a rock formation. Yes it was dangerous but, it was definitely all worth it! Since Mission San Juan Capistrano and Victoria Beach here in California are locations Jay has not been before, we were impressed with his preparation and planning skills. He sent an email well in advance with guided list of things to do/consider prior to the shoot. He also flew to California early enough to scout the locations and figure out the best angle and time to capture our dramatic sunset photos prior. We appreciate this trait so much because it shows not only his professionalism but also his dedication to capture the best jaw-dropping creative portraits of us. We can’t recommend Jay of Henington Photography enough! We absolutely look forward in working with them again on our big day! Can’t wait!!☺️❤️

Jay & Larissa were so awesome to work with! My sister had them photograph her wedding. After seeing their work and just how great they were to work with, I definitely had to book them for mine. I love their dynamic. They pretty much make you feel as if they are one of your close friends snapping your photos, so the pictures come out naturally beautiful, not forced. They listened to any requests I had for photos, and made sure those shots were taken the day of the wedding. I can't wait to book them for future events!

Jay did an incredible job with our wedding photos. He had great ideas, great directing skills, and great skills with his camera (of course)! He really made our experience wonderful from start to finish. Most of all, we really appreciate the care that he took with our needs. Let me just start by saying Jay and Larissa are INCREDIBLE! I had the chance to work with them professionally and personally and I am obsessed! We couldn't have asked for better photographers on our wedding day! We weren't the only ones, our wedding party gave us so many compliments about Jay and Larissa's professionalism/interactions on the wedding day and we have both received so many compliments on our engagement/wedding pictures! From the beginning Jay and Larissa have been collaborative and great to work with. During our engagement shoot Jay was interested in learning about us as a couple and what was important for us on the big day. During the planning process they were able to help us create a realistic timeline for the wedding day and were very responsive with all questions we had, no matter how small. On the wedding day, Jay and Larissa exceeded expectations. They were always present taking pictures, but never in the way. They knew exactly what we wanted from prior communications, and was calming knowing they had everything under control. With a large wedding party (20+) they were able to take photos in several locations in a timely manner-one of our favorite pictures we did last minute and took 30 seconds for Jay to shoot! The pictures they took throughout the day are incredible and would have never thought to ask for- we have memories captured that will last a lifetime. We highly recommend Henington, and will be going back for all future photography needs!

Jay as our wedding photographer was one of the highlights of our special day- and everything was great that day! Thats how amazing it was to work with Jay. He has a calm, easygoing demeanor and yet is very thorough and deliberate with the shots he takes. He had a natural eye for where and how to take photos of us and moved around the venue with us to get a variety of backgrounds. He made sure he got what pictures we wanted and also helped me keep track of time during the whirlwind of an event. It was such a great feeling knowing I could trust someone to capture our special moments. It helped give me a piece of mind throughout the whole day. Jay was professional, personable, and patient throughout the whole day- even when dealing with pushy/loud family members and friends. I’ve been blown away by our photos that I’ve seen and enjoy each post on his Instagram page. I would work with Jay again in a heartbeat- and plan to for future family events.

There are no words to explain how happy I am with my experience with Jay and Larissa. We live in different cities but they were super responsive with any questions I had (which was a lot). At the engagement session Jay made us feel so comfortable and the pictures came out amazing!!! He was super creative with the surroundings and it was an amazing day. The wedding photos were beyond breathtaking and brought us to tears. He was able to capture such sweet and special moments. They did so much more for us than just taking pictures. They helped develop our wedding timeline, organize different family members, and helped me handle all the wedding day craziness which was not easy. Not everyone has that special touch to make photos mesmerizing but Jay and Larissa definitely have it and anyone who works with them is very lucky.

As a novice photographer (as it compares to Larissa) in the Chicagoland area and a recently engaged woman, I had tossed around the idea doing a boudoir shoot. I searched high and low in the Chicagoland area, but wasn't truly sold on anyone's work that I had seen--and then I stumbled on Jay and Larissa's instagram. I thought their wedding and portrait work was unique, eye catching and stunning--and then I found out Larissa offered Boudoir Photography. I was sold. Larissa was patient in plan coordination, timely and efficient in her responses and immediately made me feel at ease with being in minimal clothing with a total stranger. We booked the shoot within just a few weeks. The space was a rented loft with an old fashioned elevator. It was so clean, simply decorated to ensure that I was the focus of the picture and offered so many different ways to "work the room". Larissa was so relaxed and yet insanely encouraging and helpful. She wasn't focused on cookie cutter or cheesy poses (like the kind of stuff that turned me off all the other Chicagoland area photographers!). She demonstrated poses she had in mind which was key, was a great coach about what worked and what needed slight adjustments and was so respectful and patient--and she had a Beyonce and Cardi B playlist ready to go, a definite plus. I was so much more comfortable than I ever thought I could or would be. The actual photo shoot was the most empowering, amazing thing I've probably ever done. I've dealt with body issues my entire life and this was a BIG push out side my comfort zone. For every girl that has stopped herself from doing a shoot because of insecurities--THAT is the EXACT reason to do it (particularly with Larissa). I felt strong, beautiful and sexy--what could be better? The most helpful advice I got was that you see yourself mostly as 2-dimensional figure in the mirror, and your partner loves you for your 3-dimensional, moving, swaying, dynamic self--Larissa captured all this and then some. I also would say it was actually quite a little workout--I give professional models even more credit than before now! Stretching gently before and coming with water are good ideas. I brought my best friend with me (which ended up being so helpful for authentic laughter as well as an ego boost to work the booty!) and she and I marveled for literally hours afterward at how amazing the experience was and how it was so different than what we thought it would be. My advice to anyone interested in a boudoir shoot would be this: 1. Get options of however you define lingerie that you feel GOOD in--the better you feel, the easier it is to be confident. 2. Take the time before the shoot to do something that makes you feel good--endorphins are a nearly-naked girl's best friend. 3. Do NOT do a Boudoir Shoot with anyone but Larissa--she is a magician that will help you see yourself in a totally new, completely incredible way.

They captured little details and caught a lot of the random moments throughout the day that will be nice to hold on to. Their slideshow really tells the story of our wedding day. I can't say enough great things about Henington Photography!! Jay and Larissa were absolutely incredible throughout our entire wedding process! From the very beginning they were really responsive to my emails and messages, usually responding to me within a couple of hours or so. My husband and I had a destination wedding and didn't get to meet them until our wedding day- so being able to communicate online was a big deal for us! There were no surprises, and everything was as they said it would be. On our wedding day they arrived early and were dressed really nicely, blending in well with the rest of our guests. They both made us feel incredibly comfortable and happy, and by the end of the day they felt like old friends. :) They took a TON of photos, and when we received them we were absolutely blown away!!! They captured some amazing moments that we will cherish forever! They got the photos back to us quickly in an online gallery, and we were able to download them on multiple devices. Our photos are absolutely stunning, and I'm so happy I chose Henington Photography for our wedding day! Jay and Larissa KILLED IT! From the engagement shoot to the day of the wedding, it was a wonderful experience working with these two :) Their photography skills are unreal, they were so creative and while still being open to our suggestions. They made sure it get an understanding of what was important to us. I loved how they made capturing the day their top priority. Jay literally was on the ground getting amazing shoots of our guests getting down on the dance floor. Very easy to get along with and were willing to do whatever it took to make sure myself and the groom were happy with the photos. I experience the Henington's work during an impromptu photo shoot several weeks ago. I was not prepared in terms of dress/looks that I wanted, but Jay made us look incredible. We had thought about several popular spots along the city but didn't have time to get there, so instead Jay shot pictures in a very urban, somewhat plain setting, and made them look incredible! Very unique, artistic, and fun! Would definitely recommend him for an edgy, fun style!

Jay was great to work with! We didn't have a very interesting area around our venue but he was still able to find and create incredible pictures from what was around us.
