Jeff and his staff at MEC is wonderful. We unfortunately didn't go to Maui first to pick our venue, food and everything else, we did it all remotely. My husband and I are foodies and so are most of our guests, and we really wanted to nail this....
Jeff was more than willing to work with us on the entire menu and make custom dishes for us. We talked many months prior and had finally decided on an entire menu for the day. Of course we were on a budget and Jeff was more than happy to provide his buffet tables and all glassware etc that we needed which was great.
The day of our wedding we were anxious to try out our food, and we ended up being quite pleasantly surprised.
We decided to do action station buffet, which is the only way Jeff does a buffet. It costs more but I think in hindsight it was worth every penny! Of course at the time and not knowing how it would turn out we were apprehensive and again Jeff did work with us on a menu that fit our budget so that was great as well.
Myself and my groom were served first. We had a plate made up for each of us with sampling's of everything on our plate and it was delicious! The braised short ribs were melt in your mouth, the scallops were cooked perfectly and the gnocchi was amazingly tender and so flavorful. The whole entire meal was so amazingly flavorful, tender, juicy and exactly perfectly cooked. The only thing I didn't like were the Haricot Verts (which I normally love) but they were definitely under cooked bordering on the raw side, but one small flaw in an otherwise perfect meal.
Every guest went for seconds, and thirds and some probably fourths I'm sure! Not a single person didn't leave saying the food was impeccable.
We were so blown away (as usually wedding food isn't that great, it's ok just not spectacular) and happy of how this turned out.
Jeff is wonderful and easy to work with, his staff is super friendly, professional and amazing.
I would NOT hesitate to recommend him to anyone. We've had friends who also had weddings in maui and so we've tried a few others, but by far Jeff blew them out of the water.
Still to this day months later we all dream about his food and my cousin still talks about how much she ate and how tasty it was!!
I can't gush about how great his food/service and quality are.
AND - if you're still skeptical, let's just say I and many of our guests have a very discernible palates and frequent places like Michael Mina's and a lot of other top restaurants with top chefs. We were a tough crowd to please but he did a great job!
