Over the Rainbow Desserts

This place is amazing! We had them make us a geode cake for our ceremony which turned out gorgeous as well as an assortment of cupcakes, brownies, and doughnuts. We had guests with dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, nut allergies, and vegan which they were able to accommodate! To be fair, we didn't get to try everything but that's only because our guests beat us to since everything was so good! If we ever need another bakery, this will be our go-to choice!

We hired OTR to bake our wedding cake for our Dec 3 2022 wedding. We recently moved to the UK so wanted a custom flavor that reflected our favorite English dessert, sticky toffee pudding. Roman was more than willing to experiment with a new flavor and also how to turn a normally ugly, gooey brown dessert into a beautiful decorated cake. They hit it out of the park with the flavor, and warm toffee sauce drizzled on after slicing. We set the leftover cake tier out at our morning after brunch and it got DESTROYED by people who don't even normally eat dessert. There was a little miscommunication on timing of the tasting pickup, which impacted our tight travel timeline a bit, and I had asked for the primary cake color to be purple and got white. It was still really beautiful, just not what I'd asked for. Most importantly it tasted wonderful though.

Over the Rainbow has the best desserts in Palm Springs! We chose Over the Rainbow to do our wedding, where they supplied a delicious cake, four different kinds of cupcakes, and churro donuts. Over the Rainbow has so many different styles and flavors to choose from, there is truly something for everyone! Not to mention, they have incredible gluten free and vegan options as well, which was great for our groom and some other guests with dietary restrictions. Since OTR is very popular, we found they were more responsive to calls than emails during the planning process, but they never dropped the ball on anything for our wedding! We look forward to going back to their shop next time we are in Palm Springs, to relive the tasty treats the provided for our wedding.

WOW! Roman and his team at OtRB are incredible. We had OtRB bake the cupcakes for our wedding as well as our beautifully decorated and delicious wedding cake--they stole the show and were the biggest hit on our wedding day (and day after leftovers!). Our cake was two-tiered-- black sesame wild strawberry + persimmon pistachio, both of which were exquisite on their own and unique when combined. Chef Roman incorporated some of our wedding aesthetic into the cake decor as well. The cupcakes were phenomenal and all uniquely decorated--a seal salt caramel with a vanilla creme drizzled with caramel; peanut butter chocolate speckled with peanut butter and chocolate nibs; strawberry buttercream, simple and divine. Well worth the money and well worth the visit for a few cupcakes as well if you're just passing through town! We decided on our cake flavors by eating lots of the cupcakes :)

We opted for churro-stuffed mini donuts over cake at our wedding and they could not have been more of a hit with our guests! Roman at Over The Rainbow is a true creative and everything he baked for us was delicious :)

This was the best, most beautiful and delicious wedding cake ever!!! We got the carrot cake flavor and it was phenomenal. Highly, highly recommend!!

Roman and Melissa are amazing. Not only did they give me the wedding cake I dreamed of, but it was also ridiculously delicious! We also used them to put in their amazing chocolate chip cookies for our welcome bags (guests were begging for more!) and then also for mini cupcakes in assorted flavors which were another huge hit! They are super busy so communication is quick but trust that they will execute well. Their pricing was also beyond reasonable. Love OTR, totally recommend!

Over the Rainbow is truly amazing! We asked them to create a cake that featured our dog but was still tasteful. They made the most adorable cake that was still absolutely beautiful! They were responsive, easy to work with and delivered on time. Most importantly, the cake is FREAKING DELICIOUS! We have received so many messages on how delicious the cake was and asking if we have any leftovers haha. Thank you Roman & Melissa, you went above and beyond! Cannot recommend over the rainbow enough!

Cannot even begin to describe how delicious our wedding cake was - Strawberry Cheesecake with Vanilla Pearls, in an elegant buttercream frosting with florals & greenery. So gorgeously done and Melissa/Roman are such a delight to work with!!! From the tasting (6 cupcakes for us to try!) to the wedding, it was such a pleasure. Thank you!

Disappointing Customer Service Experience I called the bakery and stated I wanted to order two six inch cakes for Monday, July 6–two weeks in advance. The guy I talked to told me to send the order via email to cakesbyroman@aol.com. As instructed, I sent an email requesting a 6” vanilla bean dream cake and a 6” German chocolate cake for pickup on Monday July 6 (screenshot attached). I was specific about the Monday part because they’re only open Friday and Saturday but I wasn’t sure how they were modifying orders because of coronavirus and the guy on the phone didn’t seem concerned that I wanted the cakes for a Monday. I didn’t get any sort of confirmation email so a few days before I needed to pick up the cakes, I sent another email to confirm they got the order (screenshot attached). No response. I finally just called two days before I wanted to pick up. The woman who answered the phone was rude and told me that they were closed Monday but they didn’t have any orders for Monday anyway. Coming from out of town for my wedding, this was pretty annoying aside from being totally unprofessional. I wanted to try something new, but I’m going to Sherman’s for my cakes—I know them and know that they’re reliable on top of being delicious.

Amazing cake and cupcakes! The only downside, is they were VERY hard to communicate with. I had to finally show up at the bakery to schedule a tasting because nobody would respond to my emails or call back.

Loved working with Roman and his team! He was easy to communicate with from the beginning and was very reasonable. Fully listened to what we wanted-- roughly 200 macarons and just a small cutting cake-- without pushing anything extra. Highly recommend for Palm Springs area! Great desserts and great experience. We loved our desert themed cupcakes and wedding cake! The flavors are so unique and combined perfectly. It was easy and efficient to work with Roman. He was very helpful with our budget and how to select the perfect flavors. We will definitely be recommending Over the Rainbow to friends and family!

Roman’s cakes are beautiful and taste incredible. Even though he was incredibly busy, he was able to do our wedding cake for us and it was absolutely perfect.

Getting your wedding cake from Over the Rainbow should be a no-brainer! We loved working with Roman/ Over The Rainbow for our 9/26/2015 wedding, and will go back to this bakery in a heartbeat any time we're in Palm Springs. The wedding cake really was a highlight of our wedding details! We had a spread of simple white buttercream cakes; one two-tiered cake, and several smaller round cakes, all different textures, on mint green stands. The florist added some wild flowers and greenery. Roman was very accommodating for the tasting and worked around our tight schedule since we came from out of town and had limited time. We decided on 3 flavors: a coconut cake, lemon & fresh strawberry cake, and a peach & vanilla bean cake! They were all DELICIOUS, moist, and so beautiful. He also took good care to time everything right, since the cake table was outdoors on a hot Palm Springs day. Roman's pricing for cakes and the cake stand rentals was totally reasonable. And even though he had much fancier weddings to accommodate that day, he took such good care of us.

Roman was incredible to work with on our wedding cake and dessert table. We first met him at his shop after setting up an appointment (as we are out-of-towners and had a destination wedding in Palm Springs). He was ready and waiting with cupcakes of the cake flavors we had emailed about trying - and they were all delicious! We talked about some tweaks and he was more than happy to make the flavor adjustments we desired. And we had ideas for mini desserts which he was happy to create and integrate into his list of options. Overall, he promised, and delivered. The cake was beautiful and exactly what we imagined it looking like. And the mini desserts were delightful and beautiful. He's the real deal, and if you have any opportunity to work with him, or just stop in his shop for a treat, I highly recommend it!

We are so lucky to have found the delightful Roman who helms Over the Rainbow Desserts! Roman is incredibly passionate about desserts and and his enthusiasm is very infectious. My husband (then fiancee) and I went for a tasting at Over the Rainbow and we were so impressed by the quality of the desserts and Roman's energetic personality, that choosing him as our wedding vendor was a no-brainer. We went with a naked carrot cake, Mexican wedding cookies, and macarons, and all were extremely delicious and stunningly beautiful. His bakery features a plethora of innovative and classic flavours and desserts-- honestly, the hardest part is choosing which desserts to go for! Roman will go out of his way to make your event truly special. He really goes the extra mile to accommodate guests with allergies and dietary restrictions and even brought us some nut- and dairy-free cupcakes gratis when he heard that there were guests with those restrictions. I wanted some succulents on top of the cake to fit in with the desert ranch vibe, and Roman offered to pick them up himself for us, which is just one of many examples of how he really goes above and beyond for his customers. He will do his outmost to execute your vision and exceed your expectations. Even if your wedding guest count and dessert budget is relatively small like ours was, you will still be treated like a VIP. There was quite a bit of back-and-forth about the cake size and number of desserts as the RSVPs were rolling in, and Roman was extremely patient and accommodating. The cake was the most beautiful I have every seen and my guests are still talking about how delicious everything was. Roman also has a lovely assortment of cake and dessert stands available for rent, including some gorgeous vintage-inspired milk glass versions. Unsurprisingly, Roman and Over the Rainbow are very in-demand so I recommend booking him early to avoid disappointment! I cannot recommend OTR highly enough! It's so nice to find someone who truly cares about his customers and excels at his craft. Thanks, Roman!

Working with Roman and Over the Rainbow Desserts was one of our favorite experiences during the entire wedding planning process. He made it so easy and fun! We were able to taste all the different flavors in the form of cupcakes during our tasting. He sat with us, walking us through the entire process from beginning to end. He was great at answering all my questions and made me feel very confident in my choice to use them. During a second visit, I showed him pictures of what I was thinking for the style and asked if he would make 3 separate cakes because we couldn't settle on just one flavor! He was happy to accommodate my requests and gave me some options on how to make it more cost effective for our budget. He designed one gorgeous 3 tier cake using the same flowers as in my bouquet in one flavor and we had two other flavors served to all of our guests that came from sheet cakes he had prepared and kept hidden. It was so beautiful and tasted so wonderful. My only complaint was that I didn't get to eat more of it on my wedding day. We are going back on our anniversary! I highly recommend using Over the Rainbow Desserts!

Roman at Over the Rainbow Desserts was incredibly helpful and accommodating, and we could not have been happier with the cake and cupcake spread at our wedding. Roman designed a gorgeous two-tiered cake that matched the theme of our wedding perfectly, and tasted so good too! All of our guests loved the cupcakes, and there were very few left over as so many people wanted to go back for seconds. The cost came in even cheaper than he originally quoted us for, which is always a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend Over the Rainbow Desserts to anyone planning a wedding or event in the Palm Springs area.
