Colleen is a Contributor at The Knot Worldwide, where she writes shoppable content for all wedding essentials, from party decor to stationery. Colleen loved planning her own wedding, and now enjoys helping other couples plan their dream day.

Colleen lives in Chicago with her husband and cat, Misty. When she’s not working, she enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter, reading and watching Gilmore Girls reruns.

Experience

In college, Colleen held various marketing and public relations internships, from social media marketing at an eyewear company to public relations at an agency. After earning a degree in communications from Saint Mary’s College, Colleen went on to receive her masters degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where she specialized in health and science writing. Colleen now writes freelance while working in healthcare advertising and public relations.

Education

Colleen graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a degree in communications. While there, she held various marketing and public relations internships, wrote for the combined Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s newspaper The Observer, and spearheaded Saint Mary’s Her Campus chapter. Her efforts earned her the school’s award for Excellence in Communication Studies, awarded to a senior in the major each year.

Colleen went on to receive her masters degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where she specialized in health and science writing. At Northwestern, Colleen reported on health and science for the school’s Medill Reports blog and anchored the school’s TV production, Medill Reports. She wrote and produced a special on wedding planning, which included interviews with professional planners, tips for planning and a visit to a local bridal shop.
