Father Marty Hunckler

Marty was great! We met once and had a quick phone call before the big day. He showed up to our rehearsal before heading to another wedding and was at our wedding 1 hour before the start time. Our guests loved him! He stood off to the side so all the pictures were of Evan and I. He was funny and had people engaged the entire time. We are very happy we booked Marty!

This ceremony was everything I had hoped for and exactly as we expected. We all greatly enjoyed Father Marty's coverage of the wedding; he's so well spoken and made the material especially personable. While my father did the scripture reading, Father Marty provided a wonderful story that was brief yet poignant right before our vows.

Father Marty was an absolute delight, he made our day wonderful and was so helpful with planning the ceremony. He is a man who loves doing this and it shows.

Father Marty is an amazing man. I knew the moment I met him for the first time that he was going to be our officiant for our wedding because he had pictures of dogs throughout his house and he made us feel so welcomed. Everyone loved him and he made our guest laugh. He is unique in how he likes to do the ceremony which I absolutely loved. A diamond in the rough. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!!

Father Marty was an amazing addition to our ceremony! My husband and his family are Catholic and I am Lutheran, we had a difficult time finding someone to marry us with the Catholic values in an outdoor ceremony. We met Father Marty two times leading up to our wedding and he is an inspiration of passion, knowledge, and humor. He responds fast to all questions, and does a great job with recommendations to make your ceremony a success. He made me feel comfortable immediately and did an AMAZING job bringing those elements together for our ceremony. Both families LOVED how he performed our flawless ceremony and said his Homily was the best they have heard at a wedding. Father Marty was such a joy to have officiating our ceremony at The Sanctuary. He met with us personally and corresponded via phone and email several times throughout the planning process to help us come up with a ceremony that was different and personal. Many of my wedding guests commented how engaging he was and how personal the ceremony seemed. He suggested getting family members and friends involved in the ceremony which was a very special touch. I would recommend him highly for officiating any type of wedding.

Had great ideas to use a lantern or the unity candle since we were outside and wonderful suggestions/ideas for the readings. Wasn't really personalized and didn't relate homily to readings. Overall, good but not outstanding.

Father Marty was great. I am Catholic and wanted to have an outdoor ceremony, which isn't allowed in the Catholic church so we had a Catholic ceremony with my parish priest and then Father Marty was the officiant for the outdoor ceremony. It worked perfectly since he is a retired Catholic priest, he understand how the process worked. He was amazing at the wedding and told a great story during the ceremony and all my guests loved him! He was very personable and a great guy to just have a chat with.

Father Marty is a wonderful person! We didn’t know what to expect- he was a referral from our friend and neighbor- but he ended up being a perfect fit! He is very upfront about who he is and what he believes and is incredibly welcoming and accepting. He was very open to our inter-faith, outdoor wedding and his philosophy of love & inclusion really resonated with us- as it did with our multi-faith and agnostic friends and family. For the ceremony, we didn’t even know where to start! But, after just one meeting with Father Marty, we had total confidence in him. He gave us an overview of how he typically conducts a wedding, with a blueprint for the ceremony that we could customize with our own rituals and readings. He listened to what we wanted and what mattered to us and helped us find elements for our ceremony that were meaningful and inclusive of our family and friends, while combining our different faiths and cultural heritages. He was always available from the moment we agreed to work with him, weather via phone or email, and we met with him a couple times before our ceremony to fine-tune it. He also ran our rehearsal quickly and smoothly, instilling further confidence not only in the bride and groom, but in our wedding party and families. The most amazing thing was he seems to read people very well and was able to intuit the type of expressions and humor that our family would relate to. Needless to say, he was a HUGE hit! Our ceremony was personal, intimate, funny, and engaging and very much an expression of who we are as a couple, as well as a tribute to our family and friends who have shaped and supported our relationship. I can’t imagine our wedding without Father Marty!

From the first time we met Father Marty we were impressed. His ideas were so great, and he was open to anything different that we wanted to do, too. The ceremony went so smooth and he made it so easy not to be nervous. Not too preachy, but not atheistic either- just the right combination. Also, he's on the lower end of the price spectrum for officiants, no security deposit, and no charges if there's a change of date/cancellation/etc. Book him early though, cuz his schedule fills up quick. I plan to call Father Marty again to do baptism(s) when we get to that point! I definitely recommend Father Marty!

Loved, loved, loved Father Marty. He gave us so many ideas to incorporate into the ceremony to make it our own unique experience. He was funny, engaged our guests during the ceremony, told beautiful stories, and even a few jokes. Our 180 guests both laughed and cried. He kept everything expertly organized and on track. This man is a blessing for any wedding!

Father Marty was a blast to have officiate our wedding. My husband and I are non-practicing Catholics, and knew we couldn't get married in the church. Father Marty is Catholic by ordination. He has a big and charismatic personality. Many of our guests afterwards commented on how great he was and that they "actually held interest the whole ceremony". he was great!

Father Marty is a retired Catholic Priest. My parents really wanted me to get married in a Catholic church but I wanted an outdoor wedding. If you are not married in a Catholic church it is not recognized by the Catholic church... silly rule. He was great, really funny down to earth guy. He does a lot of wedding so book him early. He was tired of the politics in the Catholic church and decided to leave. He was perfect for the job.
